The best open-world game of the year. The map is huge and the battle-system is dynamic and engaging, the art directions is satisfying. Despite some minor problems, this XV chapter of Final Fantasy sets a new road for the future of the series.

F1 2010 is not a traditional driving simulation game. Its driving system is not 100% realistic, but it's deep, demanding and most of all entertaining. Codemasters has managed to start a new series with a title you don't want to miss.

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is surely the definitive edition of the game, although it adds very little to the original outing. New skins and Kung Foot tournament are not enough to warrant a second purchase of the game; however, Rayman Legends remains a must-have even four years after its original release if you haven't played it before.

If you expected a traditional JRPG, Final Fantasy XIII will be very disappointing for you. But that's not what Square Enix wanted it to be: this thirteenth chapter is a completely new point of view for the saga, which was in terrible need of a new direction. The plot is intense and built on an enjoyable smaller scope, the battle system is deep and satisfying, and technically (albeit a couple of unexpected flaws) the game delivers. So that's it, a NEW Final Fantasy: if that's what you were waiting for, big time.

Simple and light as an idea, LIMBO runs away in a couple of hours, leaving traces blurred and steamy as the world it creates around the player. Easy to play, funny and intelligent, it shows how this industry can still live on simple ideas.

Although 15 years have passed since its first publishing, Chrono Trigger is back on Nintendo DS with a devastating energy. Thanks to great graphics and design by Akira Toriyama the game delivers a great role playing experience. The narrative structure is deep and builds around fascinating characters, leading the player to thirteen different finales. A must-buy for every DS owner and role playing fan.

Nintendo shows the meaning of the so called "Nintendo Difference" in this colourful, lovely and charming experience. Pikmin 3 won't probably be enough to save Wii U, but it's surely a huge leap in the right direction.

Everyone who calls himself a videogamer should try the Heavy Rain experience. Such a fresh and innovative point of view on home entertainment could give birth to an entire new genre. Technically superb, provided with a good story and an interesting control system, Quantic Dream's new title is really a twist in the videogaming culture. Still, some minor issues and a limited interactivity do not allow to praise it with full marks.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is an incredible fighting game, with a rock-solid and spectacular combat-system, and the unique Dragon Ball Universe behind it. Competitive and fun, except for the not so brilliant story mode, is an absolute must-have for both the fans of the saga and the fighting game lovers.

Harada and his team decided to go back to the basics of what made the Tekken Series so popular among the fighting community, without completely abandoning the speed of the latest incarnations. The result is a finely crafted and neatly balanced title, that deserves a spot among the best of the genre. For a gamer who loves the competitive side of fighting games, this is definitely the best Tekken of the bunch, especially if said gamer loves to play online.

ARMS is the first new Nintendo IP on Switch, an unusual fighting-game that's both competitive and entertaining. The character design is beautiful and the game mechanics are well-balanced, even if some abilities are easier to use than others. Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a collection that many will dislike by default due to a series of choices made by Nintendo, which have nothing to do with the quality of the games themselves or the restoration work carried out. Despite a visual department that in some circumstances begins to show signs of aging, this is a pair of unmissable productions for anyone who has never had the chance to experience them in their best possible form.

“No compromises” is the road Blizzard has chosen. Legacy of the Void is not a simpler game than its predecessors, it’s just much faster, and even more skill oriented than it was before. When it comes to the RTS genre Blizzard is still the emperor, and this game demonstrates it once again with an amazing and bulky single-player campaign, a lot of great extra content, and some brilliant changes to the competitive multiplayer structure. It’s not easy playing Starcraft II, but it’s worth it.

This will make Nintendo Switch Sports a constantly evolving title that can even double its content over the course of a year or two. The only hope is that Nintendo does not put too much hands on the price of future DLCs and that maybe it can include them in the Online package as already done with other additional content, such as that of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Fortnite is a well-crafted mix, a game that takes all from Minecraft and Left 4 Dead to create something new. Unfortunately, this action builder from Epic Games could show everything in the few first hours. Also, it's very unbalanced in chasing the money from the "free" users.

Considering the variety and versatility promised by the development team in terms of configuration to properly enjoy Rise of the Ronin, one has the feeling that the same mixed result has been achieved as the console version. All things considered, some post-launch patches will be necessary to enjoy an even more solid experience: the publisher has already confirmed to us that several updates are on the way, but at the moment know that the launch version needs more than a few technical refinements.

Starfield aims to be Bethesda Game Studios' magnum opus: it's compelling, entertaining and familiar: it feels like spending time with a longtime friend. This also means that it is inherently old in its structure and in how its universe reacts to the player. It's a shame that it comes with some unforgivable sins, like how dull the planet explorations is, but you will spend tons of hours in the game nonetheless. [Review in Progress]

God of War: Ragnarok on PC is yet another confirmation that expertly crafted ports are still possible, despite everything. Stunning graphics (though you’ll need a good PC to handle all that visual splendor), gameplay as sharp as Kratos’ blades, and a gripping narrative that won’t let you go. Sure, there was the risk of relying on past success and resting on its laurels. It doesn’t revolutionize, nor does it need to: it perfects what already worked on the PlayStation platform, with a confidence that few titles manage to maintain. And that’s perfectly fine.
