Just like back then, I see the flaws in Ghostbusters: The Video Game, but as a fan of the two cult movies, I don't care about them at all. Yes, there are many far better third person shooters, but in what other game can I use a positron collider to stop ghosts from spraying slime all over people? The shooter gameplay is fun, despite the partly inaccurate controls, and feels exactly the way you want it to feel. Moreover, the game is teeming with allusions and quotes, which put a blissful grin on the faces of the fans of the movies. But the dry humour is also perfectly fits in other respects - no matter if Ray is just obsessed again or Egon philosophises about one of his strange hobbies. In addition, there is a great atmosphere, varied enemy design and of course some iconic locations from the movies. Of course my fan heart beats faster. So I'm all the happier that everything works technically flawlessly in handheld mode and that I can now catch a few ghosts on the go.

In the run-up to the test I actually had some concerns about the quality of Need for Speed: Heat. Its direct predecessors from Ghost Games didn't really convince me and also the game play event about a month ago left me with mixed feelings. But the finished game has become surprisingly entertaining. Sure, once again the story is not worth mentioning, the controls reminds of old arcade games and in terms of driving physics and damage model the makers didn't take realism quite so seriously. But if you don't mind that, or if you are looking for exactly that, you'll really enjoy Heat. Otherwise, the title offers everything a car's heart desires: extensive tuning options, action-packed chases and thrilling races - and all this in top graphics.

I had a good time with The Maw. It is a first-class independent product with great production values and two adorable main characters. Of course, the level design and the overall challenge of the game are aiming primarily at casual players. But even if the game turns out to be simplistic at times, it still shines being a neat action adventure that is greatly suited for kids.

Windjammers 2 is really good for what it is. If, like me, you can have fun with such small titles and don't always expect so much, you've come to the right place. There's no fuss or waiting around to get into a match. It only takes a few seconds from the start of the game to the first round. Despite this apparent simplicity, the gameplay convinces with enough depth. The nice optics including catchy character designs and the appropriate music are also to be positively emphasized. But what speaks most for Windjammers is their uniqueness. You don't see a sports game that goes in the direction of a fighting game and primarily relies on throwing Frisbees every day. I'm just hoping for a lot more content in the future.

In the past it was big and noisy games that inspired me. For quite some time now, it's surprisingly often the smaller ones. Games that take their time. Games that create moments that touch me in such a way that they lift me out of my soles. Games like What Remains of Edith Finch. The Bradwell Conspiracy would like to clearly hit this notch, but unfortunately the debut of A Brave Plan doesn't succeed. It lacks depth and courage, at the same time the game is struggling with too many problems. Nevertheless, The Bradwell Conspiracy has a charm that I can't deny - I don't want to deny! Even after 15 hours of gameplay it’s still great to jump into a fight. Also technically Godfall is more than a solid game. With all the negative ratings on Steam, I had severe doubts that there would be any fun to have with Space Hulk: Deathwing. But I was actually pleasantly surprised when I played the game. I came across none of the performance issues, bugs or crashes that so many people had lamented over. Therefore, I was able to actually enjoy myself quite a bit. The gloomy atmosphere and immense fun, that just mowing down Tyranids is, was enough to keep me entertained. Of course, this isn’t supposed to mean, Space Hulk: Deathwing has no flaws. The companion-AI only does a proper job some of the time, the multiplayer lacks motivating content and the gunplay as well as the system for building your character is in need of some refinement. Furthermore, the developers have to improve the difficulty-balancing, because even on the lowest setting I sometimes found myself stuck in very uneven situations. Still, every fan of the 40K-unviverse and linear wave-shooters will definitely have a fun time with Space Hulk: Deathwing. Chivalry 2 successfully captures the chaos and brutality of big medieval battles, and manages to spice up the bloodbath with some much needed humor through its whacky sandbox-elements and absurd war-cries. The fantastic-feeling combat-system is in a league of its own, especially on console. However, the game lacks the necessary variety of maps and modes to offer a long-term experience that goes beyond chaotic, somewhat mindless action. Eight maps and three modes, all of which quickly turn into chaotic mayhem, is all you´re getting at the moment, diabolically fun as it may be for a few hours. Unfortunately the time-limit in those missions is horrible. The farming-gameplay is easy to learn and there are more than 100 vehicles to buy, modeled with rich detail. The game could be much better, if the developer would have focused on a smooth interface and more realistic physics.

An all too ordinary action game about Michael Bay’s Hollywood Blockbuster. Although the fight sequences offer a lot of fun, Transformers suffers from a miserable AI, almost no atmosphere and rough controls.

While the PC port features the same shallow gameplay from the console version, its visual quality is boosted to incredible heights. Ryse may not be a great game, but as a blunt spectacle with impeccable graphics, costly cut-scenes and brutal combat it still can be quite satisfying.

Unfortunately, Dark Void does not meet any of our expectations. What could have been an interesting shooter with seamlessly integrated flight combat turns out to be a mediocre looking action game without outstanding moments. Besides the uninspired look and the boring level design, the biggest problem is, that there are just not enough possibilities to use the jetpack in a cool way. Most of the time you are either flying or walking. Only in a handful of situations it’s really useful to fire up your turbines during an on-foot-fight and show the enemies what death from above really means.

A classical build up strategy game in tradition of The Settlers- and Cultures-Series from Funatics. You’ll have to conquer procedural-made islands, leading you Vikings to a portal, that leads to Valhalla. The tiny look of the toon-like characters and their animations are charming, as well as watching your folk building houses, farms and stuff. Unfortunately the transport of goods is unnecessary complicated and the AI is just acting automatically. There is no way to give precise orders, same as for the military-part of the game.

Oh boy, how fun it is to smack down Roman Reigns, while moving through the backstage-area. Or throwing Roman Reigns off a ladder. Or even kicking Roman Reigns off the entry-ramp. Yeah, I probably do not like Roman Reigns that much. But I definitely do like this game. The gameplay is back to feeling overall more well-rounded and some small issues have also been fixed in WWE 2K17. The outdated technology and noticeable screen tearing doesn’t bother me that much. What does bug me is the missing showcase and the blatant DLC-policy.

Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is pretty much the same game as the original with improved graphics, sound and speech. The kickstarter project still provides you with the typical humor of the Larry Laffer-series and nearly the same puzzles, but also comes with some very uncomfortable game mechanics and lack of usability like its original version.

This interesting strategy-mix combines elements from turnbased classics, like Might & Magic: Heroes, King's Bounty, Disciples and Expeditions: Conquistador. Though the overall game-experience can be quite satisfying, there are some issues, that lowers the fun.

Based on the simplistic structure of Crimes and Punishments, but with the addition of clunky action sequences, QTEs and even more skippable mini-games. In short: The Devil's Daughter takes a big step in the wrong direction.

While Telltale's first foray into Westeros certainly nails the grimdark atmosphere of this fascinating world, poor story, wordy dialogue and unlikeable characters hamper the game. It really is bewildering why Telltale chose to rehash the all too familiar story of House Stark instead of actually building something new and exciting.

Just Cause 4 would have taken half a year of development to get the technology under control and would still be a small disappointment. The title gives you a huge game world as well as pretty cool gadgets and somehow makes nothing of it. The story is insignificant, the missions are annoyingly repetitive, the AI is unbelievably stupid and in addition there are technical problems like the constant pop-ups, strikingly late loading textures, broken shadow calculation and bugs, which lead to the fact that a running mission can't be completed. In addition, the storms that have been announced turn out to be pure farce without any playful benefit. Whatever went wrong during the development, despite good approaches, fun tools and a big game world, you can't get past the predecessor. Instead of a cool action orgy, Just Cause 4 has become a real nuisance.
