Little Rocket Lab won’t replace titans of the genre for hardcore optimization fans, but it doesn’t need to. It fills a niche those games never tried to: automation as an act of care and restoration rather than domination. If you love building systems but crave a quieter, more human context, something closer to Stardew Valley this is one of 2025’s most charming indie surprises.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers a visually stunning, immersive experience with dynamic gameplay changes through its seasons, dual-character system, and engaging combat mechanics. While the loot system may not be for everyone, and story choices don’t always have significant consequences, the game still offers plenty of depth and rewarding exploration. Whether you’re here for the stealth, the samurai combat, or the world-building, Shadows provides a solid entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition is a fun turn-based RPG game. Its gameplay, while simple is a lot fun, challenging and addicting. Very approachable to any type of player, especially if this is your first time playing this type of game. The plot is simple but ends up not mattering. Facing the same enemies on the road to certain areas can be repetitive. Party members bring their own positives and recruitment is important. Its graphics, controls, sound design and music are absolutely stunning. And despite my grievances, I still put in over 150 hours, even on an adult’s schedule. But I can perhaps see now why I dropped this game shortly after launch, it’s a less cohesive experience than Breath of the Wild, exemplifying not only its best qualities but also some of its weakest. The tactical-based gameplay is intuitive, immersive, and challenging, and breathes a new sense of life into the genre. Narratively, the extensive cutscenes can be exhausting, and their eagerness to constantly reiterate themselves only makes things worse. However, the visual presentation is absolutely gorgeous, utilising a unique juxtaposition with 2D sprites, 3D environments, and HD lighting. Similarly, the soundtrack created by Akira Senju is exceptional, and rivals that of contemporary series such as Dragon Quest. If there’s a criticism to be made, it’s that Chains of Freedom leaves little room for error. It’s very difficult to pull back from an encounter if the ambush it set up wrong. Or getting caught while sneaking which results in every enemy in the encounter opening fire while your team stands in the open. This is an issue because poor planning almost always results in a restart instead of a difficult fight. Still, for fans of tactical strategy games with survival elements, Chains of Freedom is a compelling and thoughtful experience. It succeeds creating encounters that give players a sense of pride when finishing them with casualties. It also succeeds in making players think about resources and whether they’re worth the reward. A chaotic explosion of broken glass and laser beams. Slayers X's guns feel great to use and it has a chaotic 90/00s feel to it. A few of the genre's persistent issues are stuck to its shoe but, on the whole, it's good fun to play.
