Oninaki, Tokyo RPG Factory most recent attempt to reinvent the classic JRPG experience falls short. While the story is emotive and the concept of reincarnation is memorable, it’s hack’n’slash formula turns boring in a flash. Control takes us right the other side of that door you do not remember having unlocked, to the middle of the that dark hall that you started crossing while thinking that there’s nothing hiding in the dark, specially not behind you. The dark tone and creepy setting of the Oldest House remains all through your adventure and even though you’ll eventually get enough powers to kick around any enemy you find, you’ll never get to chase away that feeling that something is not right. Control is a reminder that Remedy is still a developing powerhouse.- LevelUp

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is an unexpected but welcomed sequel to a beloved franchised that hasn’t aged particularly well. So, is it worth playing? Thankfully yes. By taking the best of what made the series great in the first place, Team Ninja and Marvel Games made a solid action RPG that fans of the genre will have a lot of fun with. Marvel fans will also like Marc Sumerak's work of creating an interesting story that stands on its own. Sadly, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 rough edges will draw it away from perfection and aspects such as camera problems, poor AI and a very simple puzzle design can't be overlooked. The good thing is that it won't stop you from enjoying it.- LevelUp

Sekiro is an instant classic and one of the best games of this generation. Its many atmospheres are simply amazing and very well done. At times they are dark and eerie and can rival a Survival Horror game. Exploration is very rewarding and fun. The enemies have personality, are well thought, varied and their design is very imaginative. The combat system is deep, addictive and difficult to master, maybe too much for the average gamer, but very rewarding for those who like difficult games and put the time and effort to get good and learn from their many deaths. I can’t deny that it was a pleasure to meet again with a title that I played many years ago and, in general, I consider that it is an experience that can be pleasant for fans of the series. However, its not easy to bring back mechanics and control schemes already overcome; maybe those who played the original delivery will take a little time to get into the rhythm and, in a brief time, they will achieve it. The big questions remains: can Onimusha: Warlords appeal to a new audience as well? The answer remains uncertain. In any case, elements such as control and certain game mechanics, such as the more complicated riddles and the difficulty of some combats or enemies, will leave the coin in the air waiting for the experience to be pleasant for those embarking on this adventure. Despite its limitations and, Onimusha: Warlords fulfills its premise as a remastering and as a game. Without a doubt it is a good return to the past and I hope that it has the necessary reception to guarantee the launch of the subsequent titles.- LevelUp

The Inpatient has very good moments of immersive horror and high production values. On the other hand a bad history, irrelevant characters, imprecise controls and almost nonexistent game mechanics leave us with a forgettable VR experience.- LevelUp

Dissidia NT for PS4 is a game that loses itself in its attempt to be different. It is full of fan service and this aspect is very well done, but gameplay wise the game tends to be chaotic, disorganized and confusing. At times, when everything works out, Dissidia NT can be a really great experience, and those times show you the potential this game had if it didn’t try to be so crazy and unique.- LevelUp

Lost Sphear is an Old School JRPG with all it’s letters that takes a lot of the classics of the 90s’. Unfortunately it doesn’t just take the positive parts of those games, but also the cliches, which in one part is great because it brings you back, but it also reminds you how overused the formula is. All around the game is somewhat inconsistent and can become tedious, but it’s fast-paced and rewarding gameplay saves it from all its faults.- LevelUp

Subtle but important adjustments to combat and a deeper career mode are without doubt the steps in the right direction for UFC 3. The result positive; this might be the best entry in the series.- LevelUp

Dragon Ball FighterZ balances very well style and concept. It’s an easy game for newcomers, but has room for experts in the genre to develop advanced skills. This may be the very best Dragon Ball fighting game to date because it captures, aesthetically and mechanically, the core and most enjoyable aspects of the series that fans have enjoyed for decades.- LevelUp

Kirby Battle Royale has well designed party minigames but its campaign is repetitive and disappointing. If you have friends to play it you’ll enjoy the madness of the battle but the whole game feels like an extra of past Kirby games and not as a full priced 3DS title.- LevelUp

Farpoint is weak as a shooter but strong as one of the most complete PS VR experiences. Playing it with DualShock 4 is acceptable but definitively the best way to shoot aliens is with the terrific PS VR Aim Controller. If you put aside the boring level design you’ll have pretty good shooting action with the additional challenges.- LevelUp

Gang Beasts has a special touch on its core mechanic, a good mix between funny physics and functional scenarios that will make you laugh like no other game if you have friends to play on local multiplayer. Unfortunately after a long early access the game still feels unfinished with technical problems and terrible servers to play online.- LevelUp

While not an actual representation of the Olympic Winter games, Road to the Olympics new races are an interesting addition that fits very well with the core mechanics of the game. The contents of Steep have proven to be expanded positively over the course of a year, resulting in the best time to give it a try.- LevelUp

A Hat in Time is not the best platform game of this year, but it surprises us with degrees of experimentation and gameplay variety. Gears for Breakfast debut title is not only recommended for those who yearns the golden age of old school 3D platformers, but also those who want the experience from the past fused with modern designed elements.- LevelUp

Pokemon Ultra Sun has plenty of content to offer to those who spent hours with Pokémon Sun & Moon. Though its main campaign isn’t very different from what we played in his predecessor, Game Freak cut a lot of things to make it more direct. Also, this entry has a lot of post-game content for players that want to be the very best.- LevelUp

Despite some minor execution problems, Skyrim VR is a good example of how a traditional game can be translated to VR. The sacrifices made to bring Tamriel to life on a virtual reality landscape are worth it if you consider the completely new perspective used to explore this magnificent RPG, which translates to a whole new immersive experience.- LevelUp
