Jul 16, 2019Terraria is at its best as a single-player experience, and in that regard the Switch version is a great port of that most important part. If you’ve never played the game before- or you have and you’d like it on your Nintendo console- this is definitely worth a look. Just keep in mind that, for now at least, it’s pricier here than you’ll find it on mobile or PC.

Jul 14, 2019Despite its eight years of life, Terraria is a title that has aged very well: in addition to presenting an excellent and addictive gameplay, the game has a huge amount of content that will take many runs before it can claim to have seen everything the game has to offer.

Jul 16, 2019For players who have never played Terraria before, this Switch version is an excellent port, but for those players who have experienced and loved Terraria on other platforms I’d argue that this version is still essential. The ability to play on the go in handheld is a huge draw and thanks to the excellent work to utilise the Switch’s unique features makes this challenging game an utter joy to play again.

Jul 17, 2019Terraria is the same, good old game we all know and love, but the portability of the Nintendo Switch version could make it the definitive one.

Aug 12, 2019I believe 505 Games did an excellent job porting Terraria to the Switch and made the most of the buttons, triggers, and joysticks at their disposal. but after so many hours of playing with mouse and keyboard, it is hard to adjust. Though, being able to play Terraria from the comfort of my bed may be worth the effort.

Jul 21, 2019Terraria reaches the Nintendo Switch and it brings its trademark mix of freedom and exploration that will get players addicted to it right away. By using both touch screen and conventional controls in very competent ways, Terraria ensures the experience is easy to interact with and as the game advances, its feeling of evolution is clear. Terraria is an experience that can fit any type of player.

Jul 14, 2019Should you buy Terraria on the Switch? Well, that’s a rather nuanced question. On one hand, you have a stable version of an enjoyable, content-rich sandbox classic that can be played both at home and on the go, with that latter option proving to be an intuitive take. On the other hand, the current lack of local co-op is pretty damning for many, especially given that this Switch version is selling for a notably higher price compared to other modern versions. We’d ultimately give this one a recommendation, as the dozens of hours of content and simple, open-ended nature of Terraria’s gameplay prove to make a strong case for why this one deserves a spot on your Switch’s home screen, but if co-op is an important factor for you, we’d suggest you either wait this one out or just pick it up for another platform.
