Star Horizon is an open-world thrill ride where rock and roll meets retro-futurism. Rip through alien dunes on your hoverboard, shred enemies with your keytar, and dive into synth-soaked dungeons that echo with the sound of rebellion. The familiarity of its gameplay mechanics mixed with inventive and dramatic play styles help define it as something exciting and fresh.- Impulsegamer

Overall I really enjoyed my experience with Leila, particularly the hand-drawn animations and how they drive the story. I’m hesitant to emphasis the ‘arty’ elements of this game as an ‘experience’ because I can remember so many times how hard it was for me to engage in a game that only ‘smart people’ play (or how hard it is to admit enjoying a game that only ‘dumb people’ play). On the other hand the more I reflect on my experience of Leila, rather than my playing of Leila, the more I realise I enjoyed it. Despite some friction from voice acting and annoying puzzle bits, I think this is a solid experience worth enjoying on PS5.- Impulsegamer

Mother Machine is a game with a lot of potential but falls short of its lofty ambitions. Its charming visuals and engaging movement mechanics are overshadowed by repetitive gameplay and a lack of variety. While it offers moments of fun, especially in cooperative play, it struggles to sustain long-term interest. For those seeking a light-hearted multiplayer experience, Mother Machine is a more enjoyable experience, however for gaming veterans, it may not hold your attention for long.- Impulsegamer

Despite the kinks and knitpicks, Legend of the Gobbos will endear players with its accommodating easiness, making it a lovely, gentle and ideal welcoming to retro gaming for children, while giving adult retro lovers a pleasing blast from the past to indulge in. It's not perfect obviously and it lacks the inspiration and magic of its contemporaries, but all the same it was a good game for its time that deserves to be experienced. The remastering effort on display here is lovely and should certainly entertain and please gamers young and old. A legendary platformer it may not be, but Legend of the Gobbos is certainly a worthwhile adventure that's returned with a solid remastering effort.- Impulsegamer

South of Midnight is a powerful and charming adventure about the healing power of empathy. Its well-written and thoughtful narrative is backed up by a beautiful art style and a tactile sense of place that makes it impossible not to be drawn into its fantastical, though often harrowing, world. Though the combat isn’t quite as slick as it could be, especially compared to the tight platforming and level design that encourages exploration at almost every turn, it’s still well worth the price of admission, especially considering it will be on Game Pass at launch. The only baffling omission from the package is the lack of New Game+ to mop up the floofs and journal entries you’ll inevitably miss. What I’m trying to say is that I already want an excuse to play through South of Midnight again, and that’s probably the highest praise I can give it.- Impulsegamer

This kind of came out of nowhere for me but it’s really right up my alley. A dystopian world with a well developed story… a splash of sci-fi and stunning visuals. A very tolerable amount of horror (don’t get me wrong… some of those moments if played in VR would probably require a pants change)… puzzles that are a challenge but manageable. Not to mention a moving soundtrack (even if I did have trouble making out what the words were in the song near the start of the game). Highly recommended for anyone who likes things a bit weird and thought provoking!- Impulsegamer

Jennifer Wilde: Unlikely Revolutionaries, felt more like a visual story than a puzzle game. I liked how you could switch between the two main characters however I didn’t feel like my choices made that much of an impact to the overall gameplay. For fight fans looking for a good scrap Bleach Rebirth of Souls, is a fairly solid fighter with some clever mechanics that don’t quite hit the mark due to a lack of game modes, some obnoxious difficulty spikes in the main campaign, and a block button that lets you get hit far too easily. Fans of 90s JRPGs who missed it the first time have no excuse not to give Suikoden II (and its half-decent predecessor) a crack now. Path of Fury - Episode 1: Tetsuo’s Tower is an action fighting VR game influenced by martial arts films. The cadence in which the game flows is impressive and the actual process of punching and pulling off these feats feels good. There’s a certain amount of jank present in Tomb Raider IV V VI Remastered. Much of this stems from the games being over twenty years old at this point and is just inherently a part of many games from this era. Casey Jones and the Junkyard Jam is a fairly concise DLC, but at only $10.49 for a new harder-hitting playable character, a new third stage that’s far more enjoyable than the original, and an expanded selection of artefacts that give you even more fun ways to dole out damage, it’s well worth a punt. Though Casey can be a bit of a liability in the late game, he’s still a great addition to the roster, especially if he’s buddied up with someone a little speedier in co-op. Ultimately though, Junkyard Jam is a decent excuse to play more Splintered Fate and that is no bad thing at all.- Impulsegamer

While the two re-releases aren’t perfect in terms of bugs, missing content and a few technical quirks, both games remain as fun as they ever were and the benefit of having new, legal ways to purchase them on modern digital game store-fronts cannot be understated. Undying is an isometric survival game about collecting materials while on the clock. The time increments and nature of the game make this an easy game to pick up and play leisurely. The routine story, choppy dialogue, and dry combat work for the most part but serve as a means to an end by being monotonous. I’ve been playing versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator since the early days and the detail and complexity has come along leaps and bounds. Piloting requires a lot more attention to details and precision in controls now compared to early versions but being able to see a fully fleshed out airport rather than a few squares and lines on the screen is a real treat. It is a truly visually stunning game (my son actually looked across at one point and thought I was watching a video)… but it can be quite detailed in controls as well. If you like your sims with a decent dose of realism then this might be up your alley. If you prefer very simple flight mechanics then you might want to give it a miss. Either way I’d recommend checking patch notes for whether you are comfortable grabbing a copy, or at least wait for a sale if you are concerned about game crashes.- Impulsegamer

I like the concept. I also don’t even really mind the high cost to upgrade everything, mostly because once you realise the false sense of time pressure of having to accept the next client as soon as they arrive is not real (clients come and go… the important thing is not to accept a new client if you aren’t ready to deal with their request… that’s when the real clock starts ticking). You can develop a workflow of gathering ore while you wait for an ingot to form or for the next client and start getting things ready for the next order. But when you’ve made so much progress to then have the game soft lock you and essentially throw all that (very) hard won progress away… it just becomes unplayable. Either wait until a patch that fixes these or possibly even have a look at the other blacksmith simulator that is available (yes there is a different blacksmith simulator in existence).- Impulsegamer

I haven’t quite wrapped up my time with Mark of the Deep yet, but as my first playthrough shows signs of coming to a close, I can’t help but feel that this is one the best games of its kind in a while. The genre is overloaded with Hades, Curse of the Gods, and Hollow Knight knock-offs, and it’s difficult for games akin to the Greats to really stand on their own. I really enjoyed my time playing Epyka. The puzzles are creative, the characters are amusing, and the story is interesting even though it’s a little “book by numbers”. I really wish I had more time in this world. Some puzzles felt too short; it was like right when I understood what I was doing, the puzzle was over. If there were ever a sequel to Epyka, I would be looking forward to how the mechanics and gameplay design might expand. Even if the game is a bit on the shorter side, Epyka is debuting at only $10, so you are getting a lot more bang for your buck here in this virtual escapade of uncovering the mysteries of the world and yourself.- Impulsegamer

All in all, it’s easy to say it’s the best fitness boxing game yet. It might not do anything spectacular or innovative– it’d be fun to have an opponent to spar with, or even a punching bag to see bounce off each hit– but it gets a sweat up and your heart pumping. It’s boxing and it’ll keep you fit, simple as that.- Impulsegamer

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is a surprisingly enjoyable game with satisfying combat mechanics and intriguing puzzles. With all enhancements released so far, the title looks and works well – even by today’s standards. If you haven’t played it before, the free current-gen upgrade gives you a good chance to do so. At the same time, if you’ve already played Darksiders II, I wonder if 4K and improved shadows are enough to make you revisit the game. It’s up to you, of course; but if you ask me, in this case I’d try something more recent.- Impulsegamer

There are certainly some lovely elements here. The visuals are a nice change from a lot of what is out there. The gameplay swings between simple enough for people new to the genre to get into and arguably quite repetitive (fortunately there is a fast forward option for battles… so you can use your specialty cards then set to max speed until you can use them again). Some of the mechanics are a bit annoying (I hate being able to take a city/town, only to have it in enemy hands at the start of the next story element… if you knew it was going to be in enemy hands at the start of the next story segment… don’t let me take it beforehand). It’s not super expensive so it could be a good option for those wanting to get into strategy gaming… but hardened gamers might find it too simplistic or even frustrating at times.- Impulsegamer

In a field of games that typically offer a slight variation on a theme… TankHead stands out as something a bit different. If you like the idea of tank warfare but with perhaps a bit more of a kit-bashing feel… grab a copy.- Impulsegamer

Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is an old AAA title from the PlayStation 1 era with such strong core design elements that just a facelift using HD textures and refined character models turns it into a decent modern indie title. It is a must-play for those who take video game history seriously and want to understand the evolution of this young art form throughout its history.- Impulsegamer

It’s fun enough and the visuals are lovely. If you want to feel like you are playing an old retro Rugrats game, go with the 8-bit option… otherwise for a more cartoon feel stick with HD. Don’t expect a long game (and therefore maybe wait for a sale)… but there’s a touch of nostalgia to be had (if there was voice then it would have hit the feels more though). Take it or leave it really… if you are a huge fan, grab it for your collection. If you enjoyed the show but prefer longer gaming experiences… maybe give it a miss.- Impulsegamer

We’ve truly been spoiled this year for JRPGs. In the last few months alone we’ve had the award-winning Metaphor and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Fantasian Neo Dimension casting off its Apple Arcade shackles and coming to consoles is a brilliant capstone to a strong year for RPGs, and the Asian game industry in general.- Impulsegamer

Though not without its flaws/quirks… Flint: Treasure of Oblivion is still a very worthy game. The ability to find dice re-rolls is helpful… learning that you should save them for special/more critical occasions is game changing. Whilst it might have been nice to rotate the camera during normal exploration… the visuals are nice enough that it’s still a pleasure to make your way through this storied world. Grab it if you want a more structured, storied pirate adventure.- Impulsegamer

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is another Call of Duty game. It’s everything you’ve come to expect from one at this point. A solid, if underwhelming single-player campaign that doesn’t push the bar in any way but doesn’t have any real major faults either. Tacked onto a live-service multiplayer experience that is more or less the same as its predecessors.- Impulsegamer

Real Heroes: Firefighter HD is a really fun game that is satisfying to complete. The uncomplicated and unpressured nature the game provides make this an easy pick up for anyone who may be interested in a firefighting adventure. The quippy dialogue, assorted levels, compelling usage of firefighter tools, and rapid action serves up a quality experience. While some may prefer the previous art style from the original game, the comic book aesthetic looks great and contributes more to the game’s attitude. The game lacks much replay value with undesirable unlockables and there are some bugs that may set you a good way back into a level making you repeat objectives over again, but what is here is a gratifying time that will ignite your heart with a burning passion to keep playing and become a hero!- Impulsegamer

Among Ashes is a gem of a game. The game’s novelty and harmony of its ideas and the way it continues these concepts are incredibly exceptional. A horror game within a horror game is imaginative and manufactures an interesting space to play in. Graphical throwbacks and gripping sound design increases your desire to find out what happened to the creator of this game you are playing. The pacing of the game and its horror elements are flawless and work remarkably together, but with how well the game is able to showcase its purpose, I can only wish that there was more of it. Game breaking glitches are never a good thing and could discourage some from even checking this out, but I guarantee that Among Ashes will grant you a horrifyingly amusing time.- Impulsegamer

With the new updates in gameplay mechanics and the new DLC, Star Wars Outlaws is still quite possibly one of the best Star Wars games ever made. It’s a clear labour of love for everyone involved at Massive, and it’s obvious from the team shows a clear understanding of not only what makes for a great open-world adventure, but what makes the Star Wars universe so compelling and enduring, not the blasters and lightsabres, but loveable characters and heart.- Impulsegamer

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the best videogame adaptation of the storied film series ever committed to console (and PC). I never thought anything would top The Fate of Atlantis but here we are. Not only does it nail the look, feel, and tone of the movies, but it lets players inhabit the character of Indiana Jones in an almost palatable way. This would be for naught though if it wasn’t backed up by a fantastic, engaging narrative and top-tier stealth action gameplay that is as tense as it is thrilling. Along with the Arkham games, in my opinion, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle are destined to be feverishly pointed at for decades as an example of how to do video game adaptations right.- Impulsegamer
