Jan 9, 2025Epyka is a beautiful entry point for first-time puzzle-adventure gamers, and a breath of fresh air for adventure game veterans seeking a lighter, well-crafted experience. Its compelling narrative, challenging but fair puzzles, and the companionship of the game's few NPCs make Epyka exactly the game that I wished MYST was when I was ten years old. Given my ten-year-old daughter's joy when she donned the headset and patted Jack for the first time, I think she agrees. We only wish the game was longer.

Jan 13, 2025I really enjoyed my time playing Epyka. The puzzles are creative, the characters are amusing, and the story is interesting even though it’s a little “book by numbers”. I really wish I had more time in this world. Some puzzles felt too short; it was like right when I understood what I was doing, the puzzle was over. If there were ever a sequel to Epyka, I would be looking forward to how the mechanics and gameplay design might expand. Even if the game is a bit on the shorter side, Epyka is debuting at only $10, so you are getting a lot more bang for your buck here in this virtual escapade of uncovering the mysteries of the world and yourself.

Feb 6, 2025A visually striking and immersive VR puzzle adventure that effectively captures a sense of wonder, despite its simplistic gameplay and story that fails to fully integrate with the player's actions. While it offers varied puzzles inspired by classics like Myst and Portal, it lacks depth and can feel like a theme park ride rather than a true archaeological adventure. However, its short length and accessible difficulty make it an excellent introduction to VR for younger audiences.
