Definitely unique. It's more of a DLC than an expansion, but the new Mech challenges grant you some upgraded powers to unlock. It doesn't completely overhaul the game like Sky Fortress, but it contains excellent additions that simply beg you to try them out for the excitement factor alone.

Although the game has some technical hiccups, the game is too fun and addictive to pass up.

For once, I can be happy about this series.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is a fantastic game and provides several hours of fun and exciting entertainment. I highly recommend that you pick it up and save the day as Shantae.

One of the funniest games you can play with your friends, either locally or with your Xbox Live friends. Even if you play against the AI bots by yourself you will get some fun, or get some real challenge if you choose the Extreme AI bots difficulty.

A great game despite its flaws. The campaign could be more but still manages to be a great experience if you look past the first few missions. Multiplayer is a blast and makes up for the inadequacies found in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. If you're a fan of Call of Duty, this will appeal to you. While the formula doesn't take risks, it still works.

Long story short, Forza’s customization is more professional but harder to use, while Need For Speed’s customization lacks in areas and it more suitable for people with less knowledge on cars.

Overall, Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is a great game. The cases are captivating and many of the minigames are a lot of fun.

Candleman is a special indie game that has a lot of heart. Its story is surprisingly dark, no pun intended, but it seeks to offer an insightful life lesson, much like Spotlightor hoped to achieve with its games. Through solid platforming sections with a touching journey, it is easily worth peoples’ time, who may learn just how precious that is once they play this title.

Mighty No. 9 is a masterpiece of old-school gameplay mechanics, and, one needs to look at it as a spiritual successor to Mega Man, instead of an outright sequel.

Overall, Observer is a great game which is let down by its technical side on Xbox One. The game needs more polish but I’m not sure if this will happen because even after months Layers of Fear remained at a suboptimal level. I hope Observer doesn’t have the same fate. Unlike Layers of Fear, Observer doesn’t need that much work so there’s hope.

The overall low difficulty of the puzzles, the short game time, and the stuttering cutscenes may be a huge turn off for many. However, if they give Grim Legends a try, they will find a game that visually is very enjoyable. I found problem solving in the game to be worthwhile and incredibly fulfilling.

Song of the Deep is a good game you should play for its emotional story which is more complex than it initially seems. The mechanics are interesting and the fact that we don’t usually get many underwater adventures adds to its appeal. While there are problems—like the visual artifacts and storytelling decisions mentioned earlier—the story and gameplay make up for them.

Outlast 2 is one of the darkest games I’ve ever played and it goes to some very unexpected places…but I can’t help but think the first game was better. The sequel does little to distinguish itself from its predecessor aside from the setting and plot. This makes Outlast 2 feel too safe and not risky enough in terms of gameplay. If you’ve never played the first game, you’ll probably really love Outlast 2, but for fans of the original, it’ll feel like the sequel is treading old ground.

Nuka-World signals the end of Fallout 4 and the team at Bethesda should be proud of the game they’ve created. Nuka-World gives you several more hours in the wastelands of Fallout 4 and scratches the exploration itch one more time.

With the resolution bumped to 1080p with 60 frames per second, Darksiders has never looked better. The cutscenes look amazing and have tons of detail. Some gameplay mechanics do feel dated, like the fast travel system. It is cumbersome and could have been made easier to use. This was a big inconvenience because several areas in the beginning of the game were inaccessible due to missing the gear required to enter that part of the map.

A great game which builds upon the excellent Trials gameplay and adds more layers to it to offer a compelling experience. I just wish the shooting and platforming mechanics were tighter and that the Trials motorcycling gameplay was as strong as the mechanics offered in Trials Fusion.

I did love that the levels were designed as floating isles that even if you fell off, you’d land, smooshed, at the beginning of the level again. No matter what happened, your gloopy character could scrape himself up and forge ahead. If that isn’t a statement about humanity, I’m not sure what is.

A solid concept with wide appeal, good fun if you can look past the flaws.

Fortunately, due to The Walking Dead: Michonne's three episode setup, it does not fall victim to the typical drawn-out storyline that the rest of Telltale games have. The shortened series makes for a fast-paced experience both emotionally and action wise, and is Telltale's best game yet.

The story is quite short and you will finish it in a mere two hours if you explore. The game offers players a fun little time-killer and even the achievements will make you giggle.

If you are a fan of fishing games, this is not one to be skipped.

Manual Samuel is a truly unique game that was made as a labor of love.

At the end of the day, F1 2017 is basically what you expect it to be. A Formula 1 simulator that does a solid job which will likely serve many for hours on end. I can’t see it pulling in many new players but it certainly should suffice for the existing fanbase. It would have been nice to see Codemasters take it to the next level with lower tier Formula cars and non-calendar tracks but it is what it is. Give it a try if you’re an avid racing game fan but otherwise there are currently many more accessible titles out there for getting into the genre.

Blitzkrieg 3 takes us back to the battlefields of World War II, giving us control over the armies of the Allies, the Soviets and the Nazis. Introduced with the game, Nival added an adaptive AI named Boris which gives the game a unique experience, unlike what you’ll find in your average strategy game. Although not for everyone, Blitzkrieg gives hardcore strategy fans something to really dig their teeth into, with an expansive set of tools to take on any objective they may come across. The game also gives you the freedom to take on those targets any way you wish.

Despite its confusing nature, it’s a lot of fun and the story is definitely one of the better ones I’ve come across recently. The game’s art style is gorgeous and that was one of the reasons I was captivated by it in the first place. Just be sure you’re one with patience because some of the puzzles become a chore to get through.

Overall, NeuroVoider is a good experience with great design, fun gameplay, but suffers from some balance and accessibility issues. It’s nothing that a post-launch patch can’t solve and maybe providing options to adjust the boss fights would serve the title well. If you’re looking for an interesting shooter along the lines of Enter the Gungeon, give this one a go.

Though every game in The Disney Afternoon Collection is over twenty years old, they all hold up fairly well. The gameplay mechanics are simplistic and can feel a bit dated, but they are great versions of Disney classics. If you are looking for a game with exceptional and more modern gameplay, there are better retro-inspired games on the market. But if you are looking to play these for the nostalgia while taking advantage of their enhanced visual fidelity, this is the bundle to get, especially at its $20 price point.

Mass Effect: Andromeda at times captures the essence of the Mass Effect trilogy but doesn’t quite live up to its potential. The story and its lovable cast of characters stand as solid starting blocks in an expansive universe. Performance issues, bugs, and design flaws hurt an otherwise commendable role-playing game.

Amazing Princess Sarah is well worth the price of $6.49 if you are fans of classics like Ghosts & Goblins and Wizards & Warriors. If you haven't played these games or ones similar to it yet, Amazing Princess Sarah does a brilliant job of embracing the genre at its core while not alienating fans with the modern day improvements that newcomers will enjoy.

Overall, Chime Sharp offers a refreshing new twist on a classic game. Some design flaws hold it back from being a truly excellent game and there are serious accessibility issues. However, excellent soundtrack choices and clever game modes make this game a worthwhile play!

Victor Vran is full to the brim with ARPG content. While its narrative is light and its gameplay is limited, the well-designed levels and high replayability make this a worthwhile purchase for fans of the genre, and those who are just looking for a fun time with friends.

There is an incredible mix of exploration, customization and enjoyment in Unepic that any development team would be proud of. The ironic thing about Unepic is there is no development team. It's just one guy. Francisco Téllez de Meneses is from Spain and spent two years creating Unepic in his free time. The score, coding, design...everything about Unepic is the result of one man's work and dedication.

Overall, Heart&Slash is a fast-paced 3D brawler with roguelike elements that will kick your behind and leave you with a big smile on your face.

The game has an amazing sense of style and is brilliant in its design. It’s filled with fun and exciting chaos.

It doesn’t have the “oomph” it should and comes off as a bit lackluster. For all of the good elements in the game, there are several bad or annoying ones that come with it.

For all its faults, the game follows a very close template to highly successful games like Velocity 2X, and for that this game shines with its unique design and gameplay mechanics. Even though it's just a small indie developer, I see great things on the horizon and do hope they offer better controller support, and maybe even a release on Xbox One in the future. But for now, if you're looking for a very fun game, I would highly recommend it.

The game offers good replayability, pushing you to become the master of the universe on the online leaderboards and to team up with your friends to take on the biggest bosses in the hardest of modes.

The Ringed City is a totally competent but uninspiring end to the brilliant Souls series, embracing many of its best and several of its worst traits. It’s beautifully macabre and frustratingly tedious, yet isn’t close to being bad enough to take the shine off a wonderful game, offering subtle nods to the series’ past and its probably nonexistent future. The sun finally sets but it will always be praised.

Overall, I think that Gryphon Knight Epic is a great game for fans of the genre and can even surprise people who are looking for a good story.

A short experience, around two hours or so, but the entire game is a joy. The puzzles are never too difficult to figure out and the story itself could have easily worked as a children’s book, giving it a larger appeal to both parents and kids.

While the performance and loading issues detract from the experience, they can easily be remedied in my opinion and the developers have promised patches to fix them. I’m glad I gave Homefront: The Revolution a fair chance because it’s a really good title.

Super Mutant Alien Assault is easy to enjoy and a good title for anyone looking for a game that doesn’t require a lot of energy or focus.

Overall, Yooka-Laylee is a good game which needs some more technical work on Xbox One. The platforming feels unrefined due to the movement and camera. Despite that, the soundtrack by David Wise and Grant Kirkhope gets stuck in your head and the co-op mode is a lot of fun. Yooka-Laylee is built on an incredibly solid foundation but has some growing up to do.

Seasons After Fall provides a decent platforming experience elevated by great art direction and a cute little character in the form of a fox. There are a ton of platformers and puzzle games on the market, some even with foxes of their own, and though many surely have more rewarding gameplay, Season After Fall’s aesthetic makes it stand out.

Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 is off to a good start in Jesse and his teams’ next adventure. Introducing new friends, foes, and mysteries in typical Telltale fashion, Hero in Residence has a lot of heart and humor. Like the first season, its family-friendly tone makes it appealing to a wide audience, though there are people who will prefer the developer's more mature tone. The combat and gameplay itself is a little lackluster, but I’m interested to see where the story goes and what it means for these characters.

For fans and newcomers to the series, the game will not disappoint with its unique blend of time travelling and kinetic abilities plus many Easter eggs from the show. Gemini: Heroes Reborn is a solid, fun and to the point representation of the Heroes universe. Plus, it has a very low price.

Overall, Dex is a great title which should be played by fans looking to relive the days of old-school platformers and role-playing games.

It’s a step up from the original Pac-Man Championship Edition versions and offers hours of fun and tons of replayability if you want to aim for the high score. Unfortunately, the levels feel uninspired even though they add various features like jump pads. That’s mostly due to the fact that they’re all mostly the same with different visuals.

Dark Arcana: The Carnival offers a great experience overall. Perhaps more engaging for a younger audience, but still decent fun for all ages. A bit more creativity in names, voice acting and puzzle types would make this a truly stellar game, though it’s worth a creepy playthrough if only to follow the story and enjoy the sinister scenery. Dark Arcana: The Carnival proves hidden objects games can be deep and engaging.

Headlander is a fantastic and unique Metroidvania with some incredibly fun ideas and fantastic audio/visual qualities. It’s a shame then that Double Fine haven’t crafted enough ideas to make up for the game's padded running time which is hindered by its repetition. If you’re looking for a funny, seventies sci-fi adventure unlike any you’ve ever seen, Headlander is the game for you.

For $2, Cubot: The Complexity of Simplicity is a great experience that tests your problem solving skills. However, I have to knock off a couple of points due to the fact that there is very little replay value.

Not A Hero is one of the gems on the indie pile. It’s polished and complete, and gives gamers an experience they will find worth the price of admission. The game does have some strange omissions, such as the main character not having a voice, but that doesn’t take away from the overall experience.

The Pinball Arcade is an ever-expanding experience that keeps on getting better and better. While we could've docked down the game when it initially came out due to the lack of variety, we can't say so anymore. There is so much amazing content here.

Moonradish Inc. has wonderfully delivered on the promise of producing a fast and frantic arena multiplayer game that’s great to play with friends. While a lack of online multiplayer is indeed disappointing—as well as the slower pace of the Hexout game modes combined with a limited amount of content—Wand Wars is still an extremely fun and challenging game that’s perfect to play with a group of four.

Rock Zombie is the ultimate remaster of a 90's arcade game that will absolutely have you reminiscing of "times of old" and smiling at those memories flowing through your brain as you're playing it.

All in all, despite quite a lot of bugs and flaws, Grim Dawn is definitely a must-play if you are into Diablo or other similar action role-playing games like Divinity: Original Sin. The game is still pretty recent, and I have faith that the developers are working hard to fix the flaws and make this title even better.

Whether it's by yourself or together at a party, Starwhal will leave you frustrated beyond belief in a way that will simply just make you laugh. Although the hard challenges were a little too hard and over the top even for a hard setting, overall Starwhal hits it on the head and is definitely a game you should play.

Right now Elite Dangerous: Horizons is a great start but it needs more mind-blowing content.

A fun little title. I wouldn't sit down and play it for multiple consecutive hours, but I don't think that's really what they were going for. I can totally see myself playing this while waiting for a game to install or for fun every once and awhile. It's a shame I can't snap it to the side of my screen and play it while waiting in a lobby of Call of Duty or Halo and play a round of it before my match starts.

What we’ve got here then is a rather good 3D platformer that effectively acts as a tribute to 90s jumping fun. If it wasn’t for the high price and lack of online multiplayer I’d recommend this in one fell swoop, no hesitation. With that not currently being the case though I can only really give this the nod to those who enjoyed games like Banjo-Kazooie and Crash Bandicoot among other platforming classics. It doesn’t add anything new to the genre, just revives it a little.

The issue is that this game plays it safe and doesn't offer anything new in its core shooting gameplay. It ignores progress made in the genre and that's most upsetting. Casual players will have a blast but it really isn't for the rest of us in my opinion.

Gear Gauntlet reminds me of a mixture between Super Meat Boy, Marble Madness and Tetris. The developers knew exactly what kind of game they wanted to deliver and knocked it out of the park.

Aven Colony is set in the far future where you're an explorer tasked with colonising new worlds. Armed with your city management skills, you start off with a small colony and need to expand it to accommodate the influx of new immigrants heading your way. The game offers you quite a number of challenges including environmental and internal issues with your citizens to deal with, and only the best will power through them to win that next election. Aven Colony is one of the best implementations of this genre on Xbox One and I highly recommend you try it out.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this game to newcomers but not so much to returning players. It’s a lot of fun no matter what but Dead Island is much more enjoyable the first time around. Just take that into account when making a purchasing decision.

A step above its predecessor. Oozing with character and charm, the titular character of Styx helps to bring the game out of the shadows you’ll be crawling through for most of its run time. Repetition of its otherwise great environments and hammy voice acting from the other characters is somewhat disappointing but Styx is still a solid game.

Console gamers will be pleased with the experience and it seems like the Xbox One port was designed for new players in mind. I would definitely recommend it because the sheer enjoyment you get out of Kerbal Space Program overcome its problems.

If you want to get your biking thrills, MX vs. ATV is the one for you.

Tacoma excels at creating deeply relatable characters without the extravagance and big budget flashiness that pours from AAA titles, making other games feel almost unauthentic. Experiencing the crew’s highs and lows at your own pace instead of constantly being pushed along lets players relish in what makes Tacoma special; its ability to capture people’s emotions. It’s hard not to fall in love with Tacoma’s crew. Still, it’s difficult to overlook the lag as frequent as it is, so I hope Fullbright continues to patch the game. With a few fixes, Tacoma can stand out as an excellent title.

Overall, Death Squared is a successful, fun puzzle game for all ages. Entice your non-gaming friends with it before throwing them to the wolves of competitive first-person shooters. Just be sure to play it with someone.

Overall, The Park is a fantastic game that everyone should experience.

Toby: The Secret Mine is a gorgeous, fun and oddly challenging puzzle platformer that has some really large difficulty spikes at times. The playtime might also be too short given its price point. If you’re in the market for a game along the lines of Limbo, go for it.

Wings of Freedom replicates the feeling of Attack on Titan with fantastic movement and combat, however, with a limited amount of maps and loads of content that feels near identical, A.O.T.: Wings of Freedom does start to feel repetitive, although it does take a long while to get there.

Shift Happens is a fun, easygoing puzzle game and feature great visuals even though the premise isn’t that original. The game is slightly derivative at times but offers tremendous co-op appeal.

If you love 2D platformers that offer challenging gameplay, then SkyKeepers is perfect for you. Priced at $15, it offers great value and an enjoyable experience. With colorful environments, a good soundtrack, and an interesting story, SkyKeepers is a great addition to any gamer’s library. I just wish it stood out more by offering us gameplay elements we haven't experienced before.

Zenith is a fun game even though the developers seem to have cut a few corners here and there. Due to its old-school feel it comes across as an unpolished experience which takes a significant amount of time to get used to. However, once you get used to the feel, the environments and story get a hold of you and never let go. The game will definitely make you laugh with its humor and pop culture references.

Its focus on stealth actually causes you to pause and take in a lot of the rest of the game's features, especially its art and beautiful environment.

Ride 2 is a huge improvement over the original and is now comparable even to the genre’s titans. It excels in feeling great to drive on and offers enough variety to keep you entertained for hours on end. Sadly slow loading times, outdated graphics and overly simplistic AI really make this game feel archaic by the standard’s we’ve come to expect.

In conclusion, Sparkle 2 is a well-made marble game even if you have never played any of its past iterations. It is the most played puzzle game on my console by far because of its casual nature.

The Escapists 2 is a game that largely expands on the original, offering new modes and bright humour along with exceptionally well-designed labyrinth-like prisons. But it is by no means a perfect sequel. There are repetition issues, as well as some poor design choices. The game is a frustrating but largely rewarding management sim which is worth a look for sure.

Dogos is a fun top-down shooter with customizable difficulty levels and some interesting mechanics. The ability to move your ship and the camera added another layer not typically found in a retro-style game like this. The levels and music are repetitive but if you can look past that, there is a fun old-school game here that brings me back to the days of playing gems such as R-Type or the more recent Geometry Wars.

While I would’ve liked to see a more meaningful narrative as well as more variety in the shooting mechanics, I still think Spheroids is a game I can recommend for someone looking for an intense yet casual adventure.

Overall, X-Morph: Defense is a unique game which is aware of what it’s good at, and it no doubt excels in this regard. But it does little, with the exception of the awesome and huge-scale boss battles, to stray into new territories. And it’s a shame that, with such a unique concept, X-Morph: Defense fails to capitalise with anything new or unique. However, the quality of the gameplay and the difficulty of this game cannot be ignored. Players new to this genre will struggle with liking this game, but experienced players of tower defence and, to a lesser extent, strategy games will love this title.

Overall, The Living Dungeon is a very enjoyable but frustrating experience at times. The environment and voice acting could be presented better, as well as the storytelling.

While I had fun playing Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, it was let down by its repetitive nature, frustrating controls, and poor AI.

Overall, if you’ve got a thirst for some puzzle platformer fun, Embers of Mirrim is a well-made title which may lose you when it comes down to its story and visual appeal. It’s certainly worth your time and money.

Although I found that far too much time was spent endlessly grinding or waiting for fights to end, Punch Club has a certain charm that is hard to shake.

Overall, Shred It! is a pretty fun and addictive game you should play if you see it drop down to $5 or less and just want a game to play for a few minutes while another game downloads in the background. While it doesn't fully translate well on Xbox One, it mixes fun and intense gameplay into a beautiful world.

Factotum 90 is probably the simplest and easiest puzzle game that I've ever played. You don't have any kind of time limit needed to beat each level so that frustration is completely put aside. To be honest, it took me about 6 hours to fully complete all the 30 levels.

8DAYS isn’t accessible and that might be its biggest problem.

Although single-player options are available, Hyperdrive Massacre comes to life when two to four players cram close together in front of a large television screen. The solid, bright visuals, tongue-in-cheek feel, and retro sound all demand that the television get switched on and the extra pads be brought out during small parties. It's a blast to experience with others, not so much on your own.

The game is HARD. For a team of five people though, I am really impressed.

The puzzle solving isn't the best I've seen, but it offers a decent enough experience.

Obliteracers is a great game which you will really like if you’re a fan of kart racing titles.

While Crypt of the Serpent King is not the most polished game, it offers almost the same level of enjoyment as games like Rogue Legacy or Toy Odyssey. If you love roguelike titles, be sure to check this one out despite its archaic save strategy and odd texture issues.

Afterbirth is a great piece of DLC with some hiccups that are not game-breaking, but it needs to be patched before I am willing to spend as much time with it as I have with Rebirth.
