An interesting porting of pen-and-paper tactical-RPGs to the video game medium, The Living Dungeon offers a long but not too interesting story, while its gameplay can result in some too frustrating moments also due to lack of proper instructions. Its local multiplayer, though, can result in an entertaining experience mainly for lovers of old school p'n'p RPGs.

Overall, The Living Dungeon is a very enjoyable but frustrating experience at times. The environment and voice acting could be presented better, as well as the storytelling.

This game makes me wish my friends lived more locally so I could have them round every week to play a few matches of Living Dungeon with beer or two.

For the times your friends can't make it, the single player campaign offers a frustrating distraction. But the poor AI, unlikeable characters, and levels that take seemingly forever to complete due to unlucky dice rolls make The Living Dungeon only for those with active social lives.

A slightly less than average game, where you can potentially have an average amount of fun, and feel an average amount of anger at the masochism involved in your 6th death on the same level. But without any form of connection to, or caring about, the characters, this game just becomes a “could have been”.
