Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is a respectful return to one of the most iconic RTS ever made, but it stops halfway between tribute and true restoration. The updated visuals and the convenience of having all campaigns in one place are welcome, yet the lack of deeper improvements is hard to ignore. It’s enjoyable and nostalgic, but also a reminder of what this remaster could have been with more ambition.- Gamesurf

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was a great platformer on Switch, and the Switch 2 version is even better. Beyond the graphical overhaul, which was necessary and welcome, the highlight of this edition is the expansion of content, which resolves one of the main issues with the original game. The other was the difficulty level, which was set too low, and here too, the additional content steps in to offer a slightly tougher challenge. The question remains as to whether a remake of a 2022 game was necessary, but the additional content attempts to resolve a couple of the game's main limitations and, after all, it is also available as an update for those who already own the original game on Switch.- Gamesurf

Midnight Murder Club brings an intriguing idea to the table which, while not reinventing the online shooter genre, attempts to give it a fresh twist. In a market dominated by fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled action, Velan Studios takes the opposite route: a slower, more methodical gameplay where reflexes take a back seat and listening becomes the key to survival. The variety of modes and the addition of a guest pass show great attention to the community, though some limitations remain: for now, the game offers only one map and a pace that might feel too niche to achieve mainstream success. Even so, Midnight Murder Club has the potential to surprise genre enthusiasts; a rough diamond that, with the right polish, could truly shine.- Gamesurf

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Delta builds on the rock-solid foundations of the 2004 classic, delivering a gripping narrative and updated gameplay that raise the bar for an already outstanding experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the remake refines countless mechanics from the original, significantly improving quality of life and making the game more accessible to a new generation of players unfamiliar with Big Boss. That said, while the results are impressive, some longtime fans may feel a tinge of disappointment. A deeper overhaul of environments and design elements, which are showing their 21-year-old origins, would have been a welcome step forward. The good news, however, is that Konami has decided to revisit the Metal Gear Solid saga, and Delta stands as a promising foundation for future projects; and these will demand not just careful restoration, but also a bit more courage.- Gamesurf

It’s hard to say whether Kill the Brickman will reach the same success as Vampire Survivors, but the potential is definitely there. Doonutsaur and Poncle’s new title is charming, fun, and works equally well for quick sessions or long sleepless nights. Some technical hiccups and a still-limited amount of content keep it from true excellence, but it’s an indie gem we can already recommend, with the promise of long-term support from its creators. There’s always room for a new pastime in your schedule, and this one is worth it. Just be careful not to get too hooked.- Gamesurf

Fallen City Brawl is a game that, despite its limits, manages to entertain. It’s a short but intense experience, ideal for those who want to relive the atmosphere of pinball machines and arcades. The graphical imperfections, the questionable weapon balancing, and a certain lack of polish keep it away from excellence, but the beating heart of the beat ’em up is there—and it beats strong.- Gamesurf

Edens Zero delivers an uneven experience: it captures the heart of Mashima’s universe with a colorful cast and a strong soundtrack, but the shallow combat and dated technical execution hold it back. Nintendo games usually impress with the sheer number of ideas they contain, often used only once and then set aside. Drag x Drive, on the other hand, clings insistently to its central idea, controlling characters on wheels using the Joycon 2 held like a mouse, and never strays from it. Not even when it would be better to do so, for example, by managing the various modes via menus. The main fault, however, is paradoxically that it makes little use of this mechanic, offering a limited variety of challenges beyond online competitions and battles with bots. Perhaps there will be updates in the future, but at the moment Drag x Drive would make more sense as part of a collection of games than sold as a standalone game (albeit at a low price).- Gamesurf

In its Early Access phase, Titan Quest 2 already shows a solid core and a strong sense of identity, with all the room for growth you’d expect from a work in progress. The Greek setting is atmospheric and richly detailed, the loot system feels rewarding, and the variety of builds — including my full Storm experiment — hints at huge potential for long-term replayability. Sure, graphics optimization still needs refinement and combat mechanics could use sharper precision, but the foundation is solid, and the overall experience is already engaging. If the developers deliver on their promise to expand the content and fine-tune performance, this could earn a well-deserved spot among the genre’s most memorable ARPGs. Even the base version of Hell Clock is worth the purchase: it’s one of the most addictive roguelite experiences I can recall. It’s fun, engaging, and offers impressive depth and customization. The endgame still lacks some longevity, but the developers are highly active and already have plenty of updates planned through early 2026. If you're a fan of the genre and enjoy a more hack 'n' slash take on the classic formula, Rogue Snail’s title will keep you great company through the hot August days and well beyond.- Gamesurf

Mafia: Terra Madre doesn't aim for technical perfection or expansive freedom, but delivers a deeply rooted, emotionally charged narrative. It’s a story about survival, legacy, and the cost of loyalty — told through the eyes of a young man seeking redemption in a world built on silence and blood. Hangar 13 crafts a compact yet powerful experience that blends historical accuracy with narrative weight. It may be short in length, but it leaves a lasting mark through its strong direction, emotional pacing, and unwavering commitment to its vision.- Gamesurf

Overall, The Familiar Stranger is a game without rhyme or reason, cobbled together, confusing in what little there is to do, and I wouldn't recommend it at all, even if the bugs were fixed. Death Relives offers an excellent core concept, an interesting yet underexplored context - Aztec mythology - and an antagonist whose presence is deeply felt throughout the short adventure. However, the mechanics as implemented lean too heavily on stealth, depriving the experience of a true balance between aggression and caution, and the occasional bugs don't help matters. This is without considering the heavy reliance on artificial intelligence, which, while adequate for communicating with Adrian's father (despite its overly simple nature), is intolerable for the rest of the supporting application - even more so given the lack of oversight over the results. The ambition to offer something different is there, but the actual execution of these intentions falters considerably.- Gamesurf

As a calling card, Ed & Edda: Grand Prix – Racing Champions pretty much guarantees I won’t be heading to the cinema in September. As a kart racer, it’s the kind of game your aunt buys by mistake when you asked for Mario Kart. If you really need a new entry in the genre, wait a few months and go for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, or even Garfield Kart 2.- Gamesurf

Killing Floor 3 delivers on its promise of brutal combat and satisfying weapon feedback, offering moments of adrenaline-fueled chaos that feel tactile and intense. The gunplay is sharp, and close-quarters fights can be thrilling, especially for players looking for raw, straightforward action. However, beneath the surface lies a game that struggles to justify its existence as a full sequel. Mission structure becomes repetitive quickly, co-op elements feel underdeveloped, and boss fights often devolve into chaotic bullet sponges. The perk and crafting systems, while ambitious, lack meaningful progression and fail to keep the gameplay loop engaging. Technically, the game performs well on Xbox Series X, but its visuals, level design, and presentation rarely rise above the average. Killing Floor 3 plays well enough—but in a genre that’s evolving rapidly, it feels stuck in place, offering fleeting thrills without long-term hooks.- Gamesurf

I wouldn’t recommend No Sleep for Kaname Date at full price, not even to the series’ most die-hard fans. Spike Chunsoft’s spin-off doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, and while it may entertain those simply craving another outing with Date in this bizarre universe, it relies too heavily on familiar tropes without expanding or deepening them. As a result, it struggles to carve out its own identity or leave a lasting impression. The story has its moments, but it's padded with obvious narrative detours that drag the experience down; cut the fluff and you'd have a solid standalone expansion. The escape rooms are fun, though far from essential. The cast and comedic direction remain top-notch as always, but is that enough to justify a purchase? If you're new to the franchise... what are you even doing here? Go play The Somnium Files first.- Gamesurf

The Necromancer’s Tale is a rare narrative RPG that trades power fantasies for vulnerability and consequence. It’s a haunting, cerebral experience that rewards introspection over optimization, where character growth is shaped by pain, memory, and unspoken choices. A Monster Hunter "clone" that stands firmly on its own legs, Wild Hearts S delivers a challenging, engaging, and content-rich experience that should appeal to fans of the genre looking for an alternative. Nothing was lost in the transition to Switch 2; if anything, the expanded lobbies are a welcome upgrade, and the technical performance holds up well. Let's start with the premise that Super Mario Party Jamboree is a great, huge game that offers a huge amount of challenges, mini-games, scoreboards, and collectibles, and it comes back on Switch 2 with a new outfit for the occasion. The Jamboree TV is a nice addition, designed to take special advantage of the camera and put a face on all the participants, but also the new Joycon 2 features. The critical point, of course, is the price, certainly not low, but justified in Nintendo's view by the high (and undeniable) quality of the game. Making objective evaluations on the money is always complicated, but from our point of view Super Mario Party Jamboree is a really hilarious and engaging experience, especially if you don't mind Nintendo's usual long-windedness between menus and various skits, including the new Jamboree TV, which doesn't revolutionize the formula, but takes good advantage of the new hardware potential.- Gamesurf

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a solid soulslike title, though it lacks the standout features needed to distinguish itself among the many games inspired by FromSoftware’s successes. Given its modest budget, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers combines decent artistic direction with a handful of original ideas, managing to entertain without delivering any major highs but providing an overall honest experience. The game offers an interesting progression system, which unfortunately clashes at times with some shortcomings in the combat mechanics—particularly inconsistent parrying. Still, there are several intriguing aspects, such as the Temperance mechanic, the skill tree, the wide variety of weapons, and the Fury system that introduces the Inner Demon. At times, the game feels a bit overloaded with features, risking a somewhat scattered experience. However, with enough discipline (and believe me, you’ll need it), players can enjoy themselves without focusing too much on the story, which is not always particularly inspired. For those already familiar with soulslikes, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers offers a fresh challenge that may not become a landmark in the genre, but definitely has something unique to contribute.- Gamesurf

Donkey Kong Bananza is a great adventure and a good 3D platformer, not always great, but it makes up for it with the ambition and originality of the ideas it proposes. Conveying the spirit of the last chapters, made of extreme precision and endless attempts, would not have been easy within a completely destructible 3D world. Maybe that's why a softer path was chosen, which sometimes leaves you bewildered, just like being inside a mountain digging your fists in without knowing where to go. Perhaps, more simply, Donkey Kong Bananza is a good game, but not the epoch-making platformer that is expected at the launch of a new Nintendo console.- Gamesurf

Black Desert Online finds a new home on PlayStation 5, bringing its entire world and the vast amount of content released so far. Perhaps more could have been expected performance-wise, as the frame rate occasionally stutters. In our hands, it remains the solid MMORPG we’ve played and come to know on many other platforms, with its action-based combat and RPG soul, though the grinding is still a bit too invasive, even if it helps to somewhat reduce the importance of in-game purchases. The absence of a subscription fee also offers a good reason to try Black Desert Online, but after all these years it would have been nice to see a more comfortable interface. All in all, it’s a valid title, though not perfect, and while the servers don’t seem particularly crowded at the moment, the situation should improve over time, especially since the console servers are cross-platform.- Gamesurf

Death Stranding 2 is a narratively disappointing and mechanically over-similar sequel. It lacks the novelty of its predecessor, and the "likes" mechanic has less impact. The story relies too heavily on retcons and unexplained plot points, failing to provide sufficient motivation to continue. This makes the familiar gameplay loop, predominantly seen in Mexico and Australia, difficult to endure compared to the first game. Previously, various elements lightened the journey, making it more tolerable, but now the burden is acutely felt. Even a more cohesive and less convoluted narrative might not have made the experience entirely digestible, but it would have certainly eased the dozens of hours required to reach the end.- Gamesurf

Its strength lies in an original narrative concept, a dense atmosphere, and an aesthetic consistent with its dark world. However, behind the originality of the idea lurks a certain structural repetitiveness: the nights follow one another with mechanics that, although varied in detail, tend to repeat the same cycle of fear and defense. The house lives, yes, but at times it seems to dream the same nightmare over and over again.- Gamesurf

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade isn't a bad game, but it's not a good game either. The graphic design would certainly have deserved more attention for the actual systems and the three stories, despite being different and pleasant to play, offer the same enemies and bosses. You will fell about playing the same game three times, and it is a shame. But there's worse out there.- Gamesurf

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition brings back three cornerstone experiences of the PC gaming scene, updating them just enough to make them accessible on consoles as well. It’s not a remake or a reinvention, but rather a way to preserve the value of a harsh, immersive work that remains compelling even today. The Zone is still the star: gritty, cruel, unforgettable. And for those who have never experienced it, this is a more than legitimate entry point.- Gamesurf

Post Trauma is a survival horror game that aims to follow in the footsteps of Silent Hill, but falls far short of the mark. The main culprit is a flat and underwhelming combat system that undermines what is otherwise a fairly well-crafted exploration and puzzle-solving component. It’s a decent starting point that could have benefited from a bit more polish, but it's worth remembering that this independent project began as the work of a single developer, who later received support from a small development team—though likely a bit too late in the process.- Gamesurf

Elden Ring: Nightreign proves to be an excellent expansion that further enriches the already vast and deep universe created by FromSoftware. With dark and evocative settings, challenging new trials, and consistently inspired design, it keeps tension and wonder high throughout the entire adventure. A few technical hiccups and an occasionally punishing difficulty level do little to detract from an overall extraordinary experience. A must for every Tarnished in search of glory (and pain).- Gamesurf

Progress has definitely been made since last year, no doubt about it, but we're still not convinced F1 25 is worth the price of admission for returning players. The handling, AI, and visuals have all seen minor improvements, and there’s no shortage of content, with singleplayer additions that may appeal to less competitive fans. There are incentives to upgrade, but mostly if you’re passionate about the sport and enjoy wheel-to-wheel racing, eager to stay up to date with the driver roster and follow the community. Otherwise, unless you're a big fan of Braking Point, you're not missing much. Could more be done? Absolutely. But for an annual release, we can’t expect miracles. Maybe with the 2026 regulation shake-up, we'll finally see something really new. Who knows.- Gamesurf

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is not trying to reinvent the RPG genre—but it does reclaim something many games have lost: a sense of danger, weight, and consequence. Its combat is deliberate and punishing, its world compact but meaningful, and its progression system encourages thoughtful experimentation. There are still technical flaws to address—especially in melee hit detection and UI responsiveness—but with version 1.0, the game finally feels like a complete vision. It’s a dark, grounded experience that doesn't seek to flatter the player, only to challenge them. And in doing so, it finds its own voice.- Gamesurf

Trident’s Tale is a pirate adventure designed to entertain without complications: colorful, accessible, and full of small ideas that make it enjoyable to explore, especially for younger players or those looking to relax between more demanding games. Despite some technical shortcomings and a fairly mild challenge, the game still manages to entertain with charm and lightheartedness. However, players seeking depth, variety in combat, or a higher level of difficulty might find it too simplified for their tastes.- Gamesurf

It’s certainly not the best possible adaptation, but in reality, that wasn’t even Capcom’s goal. The choice was clear: while waiting for the release of the new chapter in the saga, Capcom decided to continue its march toward the fateful 2026 by resurrecting, after the first Warlords, this Samurai’s Destiny as well. Given the presence of the first installment in the series, it will be even easier for fans to decide whether Onimusha 2 is worth the purchase, since the premise was—and still is—exactly the same. The choice is yours.- Gamesurf

Blades of Fire has definitely won us over: MercurySteam's work easily holds its own against more renowned teams and graphics engines, offering a pleasant and exciting gaming experience - except for the occasional flaw - in what is not "the usual souls-like" but a game with interesting and exclusive ideas and at the same time a vast and intriguing development. A real surprise in a gaming landscape increasingly full of sequels and "more of the same".- Gamesurf

Deliver At All Costs is a mix of madness, pure chaos, destruction but also unexpectedly human elements. The narrative compartment offers numerous elements to ponder, as well as hilarious moments to say the least. The well-crafted physics allows for the destruction of entire buildings, neighborhoods and vehicles, and is one of the game's main strengths. Contributing to this are maps that can be explored on foot or driving a car, a soundtrack perfect for the 1950s atmosphere, and really convincing voice acting. Some of the missions proved a bit monotonous, and the driving system gave us a hard time in the most excitable moments, but overall it is a definitely recommended adventure for fans of the genre.- Gamesurf

The Siege and the Sandfox makes a strong first impression with its intriguing premise and stellar presentation, and with a few well-aimed updates Cardboard Sword's project could truly shine. However, there are currently too many rough edges holding it back. Tighter and more responsive controls would better support the game’s acrobatic nature without compromising its identity, while smarter and more consistent AI would make the stealth elements far more engaging, though we're not entirely sold on their integration to begin with. Still, if the concept piques your interest, there’s no reason not to give this “stealthvania” a shot, just be ready to accept a few trade-offs.- Gamesurf

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 offers a series of historic fighting games from the great Japanese company, returning in editions that are extremely faithful to the past, with filters that enhance playability and some extras. Compared to the first installment, this collection has fewer options, featuring some significant titles, but others that had already raised some eyebrows back in the day. Not to mention that including the sequel to the legendary Rival Schools without allowing players to experience the first episode is puzzling. Nevertheless, it’s a more than honest production, where Power Stone 2 and Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 are two gems not to be missed. A quarter of a century may have passed, but Age of Empires II remains as sharp as ever. The Definitive Edition, in particular, offers a staggering wealth of content, capable of engaging players for countless hours across both single-player and multiplayer modes. Its successful debut on Xbox had already demonstrated the quality of the console adaptation and the surprisingly intuitive controller support—an experience that is now seamlessly replicated on PlayStation 5. From a technical perspective, the passage of time is still evident despite the graphical overhaul, with minor issues in menu navigation and pathfinding. Yet, the game continues to stand as a deep, challenging, and richly layered RTS, one that defies the years and still has the power to turn players into fearless, shrewd commanders.- Gamesurf

No, it’s not just a “nostalgia effect”: Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy was a great game, and the careful work by Microids to make it enjoyable again after 25 long years allows us players to experience a great adventure once more, while also paying a fitting tribute to an unforgettable genius like Benoît Sokal. A classic point-and-click adventure with a captivating atmosphere and intriguing situations, Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy improves in every aspect: length, technical impact, and even the number and quality of puzzles, all while offering a more user-friendly gameplay experience. It might not be very difficult, and its longevity isn’t the best—not to mention the inability to change the diary font—but Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy is not just a revival of an old title. Paradoxically, this Remastered version of Days Gone seems more aimed at die-hard fans of the original than at newcomers. Bend Studio’s work once again falls into the same mistakes of the past, placing greater emphasis and polish on what are essentially secondary aspects of a game that almost seems to hide its best qualities beneath an imposing, yet fragile, exterior. As precise as a flying lap from Marc Marquez, MotoGP 25 hits the track right on schedule, ready to excite motorcycle racing enthusiasts and faithfully recreate the world championship experience. While the foundation remains familiar, noticeable improvements have been made, particularly in the handling of Moto3 and Moto2 bikes, along with a refined visual presentation thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and a series of minor new features. The AI performs reliably, and the management of race penalties is accurate and timely, with MotoGP 25 taking another step forward without disrupting the strong groundwork laid by its predecessors. Some flaws persist, however: replays remain limited, now allowing viewers to watch only about ten laps, an even greater restriction compared to last year. Additionally, the inability to customize the use of rewinds remains an issue, and on PlayStation 5, the use of adaptive triggers feels less immersive than before. It remains to be seen whether future patches might address these shortcomings and rebalance rider performance to further enhance the experience — potentially raising the overall score by half a point. Nonetheless, MotoGP 25 confirms itself as a consistently engaging and high-quality title.- Gamesurf

An inspired and well-crafted presentation, combined with a solid blend of tried-and-true mechanics, makes Steel Seed a visually striking and technically competent package. However, seasoned fans of the genre will quickly spot the cracks in a game that plays it safe and rarely ventures outside its comfort zone. It’s not the next Metal Gear Solid or Metal Gear Rising, but it does its best to merge elements from both worlds, delivering an entertaining and polished experience, though without any standout highs. Rally Arcade Classics lays its wheels on solid dirt, but the ride isn’t without bumps. The groundwork for a fun and satisfying experience is all there, yet the game struggles to build momentum. Its structure feels sluggish to kick off and somewhat weak in sustaining player engagement over time. Fans of more simulation-heavy rally titles will find plenty to enjoy here: the driving model is sharp and responsive, and there’s a respectable amount of content on offer, bolstered by online leaderboards that add a layer of long-term appeal. However, those approaching it with expectations of a fast-paced, pick-up-and-play arcade racer may find themselves let down. Milestone’s first steps into the new generation of virtual supercross entertain with an engaging, mostly well-executed, and fun package, though it’s quite challenging at first, and not without flaws. The supporting features in career mode don’t really stand out, and we wouldn’t have minded a few more changing elements to spice things up. The physics engine still needs some tweaking, and performance isn’t as stable as we’d like. That said, a couple of patches could easily fix these issues, and the upcoming new contents promised by the developers should help flesh out a currently underwhelming baseline. South of Midnight stands out for its setting, artistic design, and storyline, but when you pick up the controller, its weaknesses become apparent due to an extremely derivative gameplay experience that feels all too familiar from many other titles. Compulsion Games poured all its creativity into bringing this deep South of the United States to life, but ultimately delivered a repetitive gameplay system with little to say. I found myself playing through the interactive sections without much enthusiasm, viewing them more as a necessary step to get through as quickly as possible to uncover what the story had to offer. The narrative, however, is crafted with great care and delivers glimpses of “real” lives that are both striking and memorable, just like the mythology built around Hazel’s world. From a technical standpoint, the execution is inconsistent: the audio and soundtrack are excellent, but the graphics exhibit some noticeable rough edges, despite the strong artistic vision. The stop-motion effect (which I recommend disabling), while fascinating, makes everything feel too choppy, and the lack of some frames affects the overall fluiditY….South of Midnight is a good game, more for its story and atmosphere than for its gameplay. While the technical limitations may be attributed to a modest budget, the gameplay choices feel overly safe, ultimately holding back the ambitions of a title that had the potential to deliver more—though it remains an enjoyable experience.- Gamesurf
