Fantasy Live i has that big MMO feel to it, yet throughout the adventure never becomes exhausting. Whether the post-game stuff is for you or not, the journey there is such pure, wholesome, moreish escapism that it doesn’t matter. Level-5 took many years to get this out the door, but the wait has been more than worth it.

I absolutely recommend checking out Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. It’s a great RPG with a lot of elements that come together really well, allowing you to focus on various professions that are sure to cater towards a variety of gaming tastes. The storyline is light and whimsical, not particularly deep, but fits the world and aesthetic of the game really well. The ability to play online with others is also great, allowing you and your friends to form up a party and take on a lot of the optional content as well. It’s a fantastic follow-up from developer Level 5, and shows that Fantasy Life deserves to be held up amongst some of the greats in its genre.

Fantasy Life i is a different kind of beast compared to the beloved original: much more focused on exploration, crafting and collectibles, it still preserves the joy of discovery and a cute narrative but lacks in depths and kind of get repetitive very fast.

Level-5 has definitely delivered a worthy sequel that surpasses its predecessor in every way. FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time will effortlessly steal your time—and you’ll be happy to let it. Its soothing, time-hopping adventures are the perfect escape, whether you’re winding down after a long day or getting lost in them over the weekend.

The game comes with an immense amount of content and fine gameplay that will keep you playing. In the process, the performance is excellent which ensures an optimal gaming experience. Lover of the franchise and plenty of diversity in activities? Then this game is just right for you, although don't expect too much from the story. Also, the camera is sometimes a bit annoying, but you can live with that since the rest of the game is more than fine.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a cynical idea of what makes cozy games so popular, so laser-focused on visual appeal it forgets to offer anything that makes spending time alongside it worthwhile over seeking out any of the several titles it poorly copies. The old “style over substance” adage has never been this real: it may look cute and have a handful of good jokes, but nothing can satiate the enormous black void of fun and purpose at the heart of the experience.
