Fantasy Live i has that big MMO feel to it, yet throughout the adventure never becomes exhausting. Whether the post-game stuff is for you or not, the journey there is such pure, wholesome, moreish escapism that it doesn’t matter. Level-5 took many years to get this out the door, but the wait has been more than worth it.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time moves at your pace, and it never stops giving you something new to do, no matter what that pace happens to be. Want to hang out on your island, talking to your rescued Buddies? You can absolutely do that. Wanna explore randomized dungeons that make use of what you’ve learned and trained with said Lifes? You can do that as well. Want to travel around, doing combat and various challenges on Ginormosia? Yes, that’s open to you too. Wanna keep doing that, and more after you beat the story and learn more about its characters? Also very much possible, and if you’re that far in, as I am? It’s worth it. It’s not perfect, but it almost is.

I absolutely recommend checking out Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. It’s a great RPG with a lot of elements that come together really well, allowing you to focus on various professions that are sure to cater towards a variety of gaming tastes. The storyline is light and whimsical, not particularly deep, but fits the world and aesthetic of the game really well. The ability to play online with others is also great, allowing you and your friends to form up a party and take on a lot of the optional content as well. It’s a fantastic follow-up from developer Level 5, and shows that Fantasy Life deserves to be held up amongst some of the greats in its genre.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time expertly combines easygoing life sim mechanics with light action-adventure RPG goodness, culminating in one of my favorite cozy games in a long time. Whether it’s the compelling job grind while hanging around town, building your own community, or the more action-packed exploration and combat, I found myself continually surprised by what this adventure threw at me the longer I played. I was happily sinking hours into chopping down trees and picking flowers, and got oddly invested in its goofy but compelling story. As far as having your time stolen goes, you could do a whole lot worse.

Charming visuals and time-travel mechanics bring moments of enjoyment, but technical issues, outdated design, and lack of polish hold the game back from living up to its potential. Still, a fantastic sequel we’ve been waiting for a decade.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time marks Level-5's triumphant return and shows the esteemed developer still has a lot to show to the public.

Fantasy Life i is a very good Lifesim-RPG that will keep you busy for many hours and only allows itself a few blunders.

Level-5 has done it again by delivering a high quality adventure RPG that is chock-full of a ton of silly fun and stays exciting throughout.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is crafted with passion, runs incredibly smoothly technically, and tells an entertaining, charmingly staged story peppered with pleasant humor that should delight genre fans, especially younger audiences. While there are no real plot twists, the 14 different professions are well-integrated into the overall structure and invite you to continue playing even after completing the story. But: There's definitely room for improvement in the multiplayer mode. Nevertheless, anyone who enjoyed the predecessor and generally enjoys RPG life sims will have a lot of fun with this one.

Level-5 has definitely delivered a worthy sequel that surpasses its predecessor in every way. FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time will effortlessly steal your time—and you’ll be happy to let it. Its soothing, time-hopping adventures are the perfect escape, whether you’re winding down after a long day or getting lost in them over the weekend.

Fantasy Life i: the Girl who Steals Time brings without difficulty the artistic style, the fresh and varied gameplay and in general all the potential of the brand to the current hardware generation. Good for everyone, beautiful for the younger ones, Level-5's work suggest us that we have to expect, and even wait for, other Fantasy Life games in the future.

The game comes with an immense amount of content and fine gameplay that will keep you playing. In the process, the performance is excellent which ensures an optimal gaming experience. Lover of the franchise and plenty of diversity in activities? Then this game is just right for you, although don't expect too much from the story. Also, the camera is sometimes a bit annoying, but you can live with that since the rest of the game is more than fine.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time isn’t up to the quality of a big Animal Crossing release, and it doesn’t quite have the depth of dedicated farming and life sims, but it makes up for it with a breadth of activities that are simple, but so hard to put down. This isn’t going to replace the likes of Animal Crossing or The Sims in your heart, but Fantasy Life i is a genuinely heartwarming RPG adventure that scratches the social sim itch.

Fantasy Life i is a different kind of beast compared to the beloved original: much more focused on exploration, crafting and collectibles, it still preserves the joy of discovery and a cute narrative but lacks in depths and kind of get repetitive very fast.

I loved playing the first Fantasy Life game to an unhealthy degree, and the sequel is no different. Grinding away to master all the Lives is deeply satisfying, there’s a wide variety of systems to mess with, and the overall pace is very chill. On the other hand, I recognize that much of what I love about this game isn’t necessarily good, it’s mostly just addictive. A mishmash of my favorite dopamine receptors are getting smashed to bits when I play this game, and I’m fine with that. If you’re looking for a cozy, compelling Skinner box of a game, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is perfect for you.

Fantasy Life I: The Girl Who Steals Time is a lovingly crafted and well-deserved glow up for one of the shining stars of the 3DS era. The visuals, score and overall presentation have been elevated beyond recognition, and yet, the things that made the original great remain intact. The abundance of gameplay mechanics and variety via the different islands and time periods is a standout feature that makes the endless grind paletable, and while every action in the game borders on basic, it never crosses the threshold to be considered boring. It's a quintessentially cozy game that deserves its flowers, and for those who have long wished for a true Animal Crossing competitor to wriggle from Nintendo's grasp, it seems your wish has finally been granted.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a surprisingly monstrous outing. It can be a seriously addictive RPG adventure, utterly stuffed with things to see, do, and eventually master. The grind can be a bit overwhelming at times, but Level-5's trademark charm and well-designed gameplay loops should keep you coming back. This is vibrant all-ages fun, pretty much from start to finish.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time is less concerned with spectacle and more with progressing cozily through its world. It stumbles in its attempt to be more, particularly in its half-hearted multiplayer, but when played alone, it becomes a game that celebrates the slow accumulation of meaning through routine. Its charm isn’t loud, but it lingers, like a warm memory you didn’t know you missed.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a treat for fans of what might be called the “cosy-RPG”. Despite a pleasant but not memorable adventure, it offers great freedom of gameplay. It's up to you to modulate your story by taking greater advantage of the narrative or the various jobs available to you. What's more, it breaks with the usual routine of games in this genre, which give you everything at your fingertips almost immediately. Thanks to the job system, one activity can lead to another, and so on, making for a truly dynamic immersion with a dose of RP that should please many. It lacks that little something in its visual identity to make it totally stand out from its competitors. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most accomplished representatives of the genre in recent years.

Fantasy Life’s biggest problem is a complete lack of ambition, being interested only in replicating what was done ten years ago despite how much should have been done to update the gameplay and make something truly worthy of a promising concept. It’s definitely got its enjoyable side, and its aping of Nintendo games gives it some longevity, but otherwise this is a so-so retread of an archaic game that was always far too limited compared to what it claimed to be. And its NPCs need to just glue their mouths shut. Stop. F.cking. Talking.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a cynical idea of what makes cozy games so popular, so laser-focused on visual appeal it forgets to offer anything that makes spending time alongside it worthwhile over seeking out any of the several titles it poorly copies. The old “style over substance” adage has never been this real: it may look cute and have a handful of good jokes, but nothing can satiate the enormous black void of fun and purpose at the heart of the experience.

Sure, some parts of the original game aren’t here, but it’s easy to see why people are loving the newest entry. It’s incredibly unique, features fantastic music, and looks stunning to boot. I hope Level-5 keeps the content coming, because I don’t want to put down Fantasy Life i any time soon. [Highly Recommended]
