Delivering one of the best gameplay experiences of this generation, a solid story with human characters and real conflicts, and some of the best and most memorable bosses of this generation, this is the kind of game that may not appeal to everyone at first, but once you start playing, you simply can't stop thinking about it and want to play cycle after cycle.

REPLACED is an excellent action-platformer that tells an intriguing story and keeps players hooked for approximately 12 hours. Unfortunately, the title suffers from a lack of polish in its later sections, but these are problems that Sad Cat Studios will have the opportunity to correct in future patches. However, we should analyze the game in its current state, not in terms of how it might be in the future.

Pragmata is a miracle of the modern video game era, with extremely experimental combat in a big-budget game that works very well. It's not without minor stumbles along the way, such as a lack of world-building and specific parts of the story that lacked cohesion, but none of that diminishes the brilliance of the combat and the intimate father-daughter story. For a first attempt at something new, the game succeeds admirably, and I sincerely hope it receives a sequel that further refines the concepts created here.

Darwin's Paradox draws attention for KONAMI’s different approach, featuring a charismatic octopus trapped in a mysterious factory. The game blends platforming and simple puzzles with striking art direction and a light narrative about infiltrating aliens. The gameplay is creative and accessible, with a good variety of situations, despite some moments of visual confusion. With a short campaign and a focus on casual fun, the title delivers an enjoyable experience for fans of the genre.

Pokémon Pokopia is the dream of every Pokémon fan who has ever wanted a cozy game of their own, but I found its progression so slow and lacking in engagement that I couldn’t enjoy the experience as much as I hoped. Fans of the genre will likely appreciate it, but if you’re not into cozy games, this title doesn’t really bring anything new to the genre that would draw you in.

Tales of Berseria Remastered stands out for Velvet's dark story, with strong characters and a more mature tone that deviates from the standard JRPG formula. The combat remains very fun, fast-paced, and varied, even with some signs of age in the camera and lock-on. Exploration and dungeons are the weakest point, with simple and unremarkable maps. In the end, the remaster is well worth it for those who have never played it, but offers little new content for those already familiar with the original.

Months after arriving on PlayStation 5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach comes to PC with slight visual upgrades and a solid adaptation. Delivering good performance even on older hardware, the title stands out for its Ray Tracing which, while providing more natural reflections and lighting, is not essential. Its biggest drawback is its launch price, which is excessively high in some markets.

Even with varied missions and a fun gameplay loop, the slow progression of the skill tree and the natural fatigue of the genre can become tiring over time, but the game still works well as a fun cooperative experience with friends.

Esoteric Ebb is a fun RPG that relies on well-written dialogue with many genuinely funny moments. However, if you don’t enjoy games that are heavily based on reading or don’t have at least an intermediate level of English, there’s a good chance you won’t enjoy the game.

1348 Ex Voto would be an ordinary game in an ideal world where all of its systems work properly and it has no bugs, but reality is far from ideal. Unfortunately, the game’s combat system is poorly designed and frustrating. The story is decent, as are the graphics, but the combat system not only has bugs that ruin the experience, it also wasn’t well thought out and ultimately just results in frustration.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection evolves the spin-off with a more mature story focused on the war between two kingdoms, strategic combat based on pattern reading, and more varied and vertical exploration. The game delivers a solid, addictive RPG and is a strong contender for one of the best of the year.

Scott Pilgrim Ex is a somewhat clunky beat ’em up that, even once you understand its combat system, isn’t all that enjoyable when played solo and becomes overly repetitive across its roughly three-hour runtime. The game improves in co-op mode, but there are still several better titles in the genre that simply play and function more effectively.

Resident Evil Requiem is easily one of the best games of 2026 and will certainly meet the immense expectations of fans, combining the best of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 4 Remake. I wish the game were a little bit longer, just to enjoy it a bit more, but that is really the only flaw I can find in it.

God of War: Sons of Sparta is a competent Metroidvania, with excellent exploration and a very well-constructed setting, but it suffers from uninspired combat, weak bosses, and a worrying number of bugs. The game has potential, but it needed much more polish to deliver on it.

High on Life 2 improves some of the original game’s weak points, but it still lacks something to truly be a fun experience. If you’re a fan of Rick and Morty–style humor, you’ll probably enjoy the game more than I did, but performance issues, poor visual quality, lack of quality-of-life features in the “open world,” and the campaign’s uneven pacing didn’t appeal to me that much.

REANIMAL is a short and dark experience that retains the DNA of Little Nightmares, relying on heavy atmosphere, simple puzzles, and terrifying monsters. Focusing on cooperative gameplay, the game stands out for its art direction and immersion, but suffers from technical polish, bugs, and limitations in the post-game. Still, it's worthwhile for fans of the genre.

Mario Tennis Fever tries to innovate by adding powers to the rackets, but honestly the result ends up hindering more than helping, since unbalanced abilities completely break matches and turn them into an exercise in frustration, whether playing solo or with others. Adding to that a campaign mode that helps teach how to play but quickly becomes dragged out and dull, I can only recommend this game to those who are truly fans of the franchise, which I imagine is not many people.

Romeo is a Dead Man features an interesting campaign that tries several different things to avoid monotony, and it works most of the time, but honestly, it lacks a truly memorable moment to make it stand out. It's not bad at anything, but it also doesn't do anything to excel, which is a shame.

Despite a lack of boldness in some plot decisions, Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a valid and consistent way to experience Yakuza 3, which has always been one of the best chapters in the saga, especially for its deeper exploration of Kiryu’s personal life.

Mewgenics is a turn-based tactical RPG with Roguelike structure inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics and D&D. Mewgenics puts the player in control of cats that explore dangerous areas and evolve through genetic breeding at the home base. The Game stands out for its strategic depth, strong art style, memorable soundtrack, and game of the year potential in 2026.

My Hero Academia: All’s Justice is a fun anime game that does a solid job of adapting the final “war” arc from both the anime and the manga. The game features some completely over-the-top battles, as is common in the genre, and the final fight almost drove me crazy. Still, fans of the franchise and this type of game will likely love it, even though this is very much a title that truly appeals only to those who are already fans of the series.

Nioh 3 is the best soulslike made by Team Ninja so far. The game perfects its original formula and delivers one of the best combat systems in the genre. Although it has some slips like massive enemy reuse and some repetitive activities in its open world, it's still a game that shines above many others.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined attempts to modernize one of the franchise’s most popular entries by revamping its visuals, refining its systems, and preserving the essence of the original, but ultimately runs into serious pacing and structural issues. The initial journey presents an interesting premise, with time travel to the past to restore islands and resolve conflicts, yet the game repeats this formula for dozens of hours, with little real progression of the main story and almost nonexistent development of both the characters and the villain.

Code Vein II tries to evolve the “anime Souls-like,” but delivers a weak story and an overabundance of cutscenes. The combat offers solid builds and variety, yet suffers from stiff animations, repetitive enemies, and an open world that lacks incentives for exploration. Serious technical issues on PS5 hurt the experience, making it safer to wait for fixes before playing.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade remains one of the best games of its generation, and the Switch 2 port is highly competent, offering a great opportunity for those who haven’t played it yet or want to revisit the story of Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and the fight to save the planet from Shinra and Sephiroth.

MIO: Memories in Orbit delivers a fantastic experience within the metroidvania genre, combining excellent exploration with a strong audiovisual identity. Even with limitations in the variety of common enemies, the game makes up for it with bosses, a beautiful soundtrack, and an intriguing world that encourages curiosity from start to finish.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond features good battles, solid visuals, and well-executed action moments, but it loses the classic essence of the series. Exploration is simplified, the excessive dialogue breaks the atmosphere, and the new mechanics add little to the gameplay. The result is a competent game, but far from the long-awaited return fans were hoping for.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for PlayStation 5 is a new version that’s very similar to the PlayStation 4 release — for the most part, it’s the same excellent game. There were quality-of-life improvements, higher resolution, better responsiveness, a few new cutscenes, a rather dull horde mode.

With a campaign that takes around six hours to complete, I didn’t enjoy my experience with Skate Story very much due to its weak story, the bugs I encountered, and gameplay that feels like it’s missing “something extra” to actually be fun. The impression it gives is that either the game clicks with you and you find it brilliant, or it doesn’t, and there isn’t much you can do about it.

Octopath Traveler 0 is a great game and would be even better if it weren’t so long. I spent over 60 hours finishing it and honestly wish that at least a quarter or a fifth of it could have been shortened, but in the end, if you’re a fan of classic JRPGs, this game is definitely for you.

Ball x Pit is a roguelike that mixes Breakout and Peggle with echoes of Vampire Survivors and The Binding of Isaac. You choose heroes, launch baby-orbs to hit enemies, unlock power orbs with different effects, and use fission reactors to combine and upgrade everything. Between runs, you rebuild Ballbylonia to improve stats and unlock new characters. The early game is tougher, but once it kicks in, the loop becomes extremely addictive, supported by great audiovisual presentation.

Tales of Xillia Remastered updates one of the entries that experimented the most within the series, though not always successfully. Well adapted to modern platforms, the game shows that Bandai Namco’s narrative has aged gracefully, but its excessive linearity may still bother more purist RPG fans.

Still, the game is fun and will certainly please those eager for more lore from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom — just don’t expect a particularly deep experience.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake blends classic elements with a few small conveniences to deliver the definitive version of two RPGs. With enhanced visuals and more elaborate scripts, the games maintain their focus on grinding and the challenging difficulty that is a trademark of the series. The additions only fall short by not always helping the story’s pacing, which could have been better utilized if a Brazilian Portuguese translation were available.

The game truly focuses on the franchise’s strongest points while also delivering a solid campaign and a story that leaves fans wanting more. In short: Battlefield is back, ladies and gentlemen.

Star Wars Outlaws arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 after a lukewarm reception in 2024 but positively surprised in this version. Despite some graphical downgrades, the port stands out by using technologies such as Ray Tracing and DLSS, delivering impressive visuals on the handheld while maintaining a stable 30FPS performance. Even with the reduced population density compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series versions, the game ranks among the best ports ever released for the console. The only major disappointment lies in the physical Key-Card edition, which still requires a digital download.

Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree is an ambitious roguelike that tries to innovate within a saturated genre, blending narrative and gameplay through the village of Shinju, where the generational cycle adds emotional weight to each run. Dying Light: The Beast is a very fun game with a story that keeps you engaged in playing through the campaign, but it has two small issues that could be easily fixed and would make the game even better: the campaign progression that suddenly requires levels that are too high, and the artificial intelligence of the volatiles in campaign missions. Other than that, it’s a game that will greatly please those who played the original.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is Sega’s most ambitious bet in the genre, delivering fun and unpredictable chaos that directly rivals the best games in the category, even with some bugs and slightly sluggish progression.

Borderlands 4 is the entry in the franchise with the best gunplay since 2, and if you have friends to join you in exploring Kairos, it guarantees countless hours of fun. However, all of the game’s qualities end up being overshadowed by the technical disaster it is on PC, at least in the version we reviewed. Once those technical issues are overcome, longtime fans of the series will love it — and newcomers will too.

Silksong is a sequel that expands the legacy of Hollow Knight by focusing on faster and more aggressive gameplay with Hornet, delivering intense combat and memorable bosses, along with impressive art direction and soundtrack that enhance immersion. Despite pacing issues, such as unbalanced economy, the overly long first act, and limited progression in health and upgrades, the game stands out as one of the best recent Metroidvanias, capable of winning over both veterans of the original and newcomers to the genre.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots maintains its accessible and fun spirit, with intuitive controls and a variety of modes that shine best in quick, social sessions. The game truly stands out in matches with friends or in online mode — which is likely the key highlight of the experience — but it falls short in content for those who prefer to play solo.

Cronos: The New Dawn works very well as a survival horror if we take those two words literally, but a weak storyline and a completely uncharismatic main character take away some of the game’s shine. In the end, it feels more like a sequence of well-crafted tension scenes with almost nothing in between that truly deserves attention.

Metal Eden is a game that started off very strong but quickly wore me out. The repetition becomes excessive within the stages, with you going through practically the same encounter 15 to 25 times per level and having little to do between fights, which turns what seemed like a promising game at first into a rather tiresome experience.

Despite its engaging narrative and impressive art direction, Hell is Us suffers from repetitive combat, limited enemy variety, and uninspired bosses. Still, for fans of puzzles and immersive atmospheres, it manages to deliver a memorable journey, even with its shortcomings in the action department.

Lost Soul Aside has some merits in its combat and can be enjoyable if you overlook the weak story and shallow characters, but it’s hard to recommend at full launch price with so many polish issues. However, if that’s not a problem for you, it can still be fun for Hack and Slash fans—just don’t expect anything grand and be prepared to put up with certain aspects of the game.

Sword of the Sea is Giant Squid’s most refined project yet, delivering an emotional and contemplative experience that combines the joyful glide of the Hoversword, stunning art, and a moving soundtrack. While it could take more risks with its maneuvers, its conciseness and focus ensure a memorable title, balancing visual spectacle with the pure pleasure of play.

Midnight Murder Club is a fun game for quick sessions with friends, especially thanks to the Guest Pass and the Wildcards mode, which guarantee plenty of laughs. However, without new maps or content updates, it is unlikely to remain a recurring title on your online games list.

If we evaluate the full experience, meaning the base game plus the expansion, Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World offers an easygoing game to finish and a great way for younger players to learn basic platforming mechanics, guided by the charismatic Kirby. However, as an expansion, Star Crossed World adds very little to the original game to justify the investment and feels more like a pretext to charge for the upgraded package on the Switch 2.

The Knightling proves to be a promising game that balances combat, exploration, and progression well, but it still needs technical adjustments to reach its full potential. For those who enjoy action-adventure titles focused on exploration with a touch of creativity in the mechanics, the journey through the world of Clesseia is certainly worthwhile—as long as you’re prepared to deal with some technical stumbles.

Gears of War: Reloaded follows a classic that is extremely fun and shows how to make a good third-person shooter, even though the game has some minor issues with bugs during area transitions and the companions’ artificial intelligence is quite poor, but it remains a must-play classic for everyone.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, with updated visuals and gameplay, plays it safe and is a competent remake of one of Hideo Kojima’s greatest classics. However, its new ideas don’t always blend well with the old ones, which can create some oddities. Even so, this is a successful effort by Konami and should earn the company some credit among fans.

While it delivers fast, chaotic, and immersive matches, Drag x Drive struggles with physically demanding mandatory controls, limited accessibility options — ironically for a wheelchair basketball game — scarce content, and uninspired visuals, all of which could affect its online longevity.

Earthion is a very fun spaceship game that will certainly appeal to fans of classic titles from the golden age of the Mega Drive. It’s a bit short, but considering the classic continue and Game Over mechanics, you’ll have to work hard to see the game’s ending — and you’ll definitely enjoy the experience.

Killing Floor 3 tries to refresh its formula with technical improvements and more robust systems, but fails to maintain the spirit that made the series famous. The game succeeds in visuals and customization, but stumbles due to the lack of content and the exhausting repetition of the same structure. For new players, it’s a reasonable entry point. For series veterans, it may feel like an ambitious attempt that forgot its roots.

Abyssus shows promise with its blend of progression, varied weapons and abilities, and co-op gameplay, offering a solid base for fun. However, inconsistent performance holds it back at launch. With the right optimizations, it could secure a lasting place in the genre.

Mafia: The Old Country doesn’t stand out for its campaign length, which could have been a bit longer. Still, in its 12-hour runtime, it offers a solid story and charismatic characters that will please fans of mafia-themed stories, even if the plot itself isn't particularly surprising.

RoboCop: Unfinished Business is a direct sequel to Rogue City that doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—just adds new enemies to shoot, a story that makes RoboCop confront his past, and a solid, contained experience. It’s more of the same and won’t surprise anyone, but if you played the first game and enjoyed it, you’ll probably like what you find here too.

If you played THPS 3 or 4 during your teenage years, you’ll feel right at home. The gameplay remains sharp, the visuals have been tastefully updated, and the content is vast enough to keep you engaged for many hours. What it lacks in cultural context, it makes up for in sheer fun. For those looking for a solid trick-based game with quick challenges, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 delivers exactly that.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is an excellent action game and a must-play for fans of the franchise, especially those who appreciate the classics from the 1980s.
