After losing interest in my character after the campaign it is hard to have any motivation in leveling the new character with the memory in the back of my head that there is no end game. There is no end goal. With no sense of progression.

This gives me no interest to level up another character just knowing that there is nothing to keep me interested, combined with the lackluster sense of progression and itemization.

Blizzard killing the game with a new patches. No balance at all, necro can oneshot uber lilith but sorcerer can path dungeon +10 lvl. They nerfed the exp gain, they disabled the alt fast progression. My overall impression that the game and most characters designed to 1-50 lvl but not more

Not even as good as D3 and that's saying something. The game is SLOW. The combat is dry and the quests are poorly done. I don't know what took them so long but this is not an upgrade to D3.

Story wise it was good, and pre season 1 patch the bones were a great start. A lot of QoL expectations missed and some questionable design issues, but generally worth it. They posted preseason 1 patch and nerfed the entire game. Didn’t even patch to update, just uninstalled. No real QoL improvements and no new cool news. Makes D3 marketplace laughable.

The campaign is only a few hours long, and after that, there is little to do other than grind for better gear.

One of the most frustrating aspects of the game is the fact that you have to pay in-game currency to respec your build. This severely limits your ability to experiment with different builds and playstyles. In Diablo 3, you could change your skills at any time, which allowed for a much more fluid and rewarding gameplay experience.

Overall, Diablo Immortal is a disappointing game that fails to live up to the expectations of the Diablo franchise. The game is bland, repetitive, and lacks any real sense of achievement or reward. If you are a fan of the Diablo series, I would recommend skipping this game.

Normally I don’t do reviews, but the way this game has been handled is so egregious that I need to say something.

    • After the most recent patch, build diversity is ruined going into S1. If you don’t play Druid or Rogue (or a singular Necro build), you’re screwed. Barb & Sorc are useless. • XP/leveling was already a slog since 85 is considered the halfway point. Now it’s even worse. •

    • XP/leveling was already a slog since 85 is considered the halfway point. Now it’s even worse. • Itemization is a huge pain. Uniques are too rare and Uber-Uniques are these unicorn items we can never realistically expect to see all of, or even ONE of. They’re not incentivizing in any way. • Communication from the developer feels fake and hollow. They keep saying they hear us, but every update/change rips the fun from the game. Furthermore, they’re super quick to hotfix an issue like shako dropping from helltide chests but can’t fix the reward pool for Druids in a timely manner? They can hotfix less XP in dungeons multiple times but any time we need something to enjoy the game more, it won’t even be explored until S2.

    • Many items and aspects do not impact your build in profound, interesting, meaningful ways. Like most of them are bonus X% damage modifiers which is so pathetic. • On a fundamental level, why are cosmetics like $25+? This is ridiculous.

    • Helltides were nerfed to the point that you cannot earn enough cinders to unlock the biggest reward cache. Allegedly it’s a bug, but there seems to be a LOT of bugs in this game. It seems like they keep editing drop chances and other numerics, only to backpedal and say “oh weird, this is bugged out.” Even when I had a full inventory of Ancient Legendaries from Helltides, only ~1-3 of them would be useful, and maybe only 1 of them was a direct upgrade to my build. If that’s “too easy” and “too many rewards,” then Blizzard straight-up DOES NOT want you to obtain any valuable loot or maintain any semblance of progression. They want you playing a pseudo-game where it feels like you’re always on the cusp of getting somewhere but you never do.

I could not in good conscience recommend this game to anybody. It is not fun beyond your initial honeymoon phase of novelty & curiosity. Once you understand the game’s main loop, you’ll drop it almost immediately. It’s not rewarding. It doesn’t respect your time. It’s a genuine joke and a mishandled product. I hope they can pull a D3 and salvage this trash heap.

Why doesn't it have ALL the greatness from the previous games? This game is an actual joke. Its clear they are working their way to introducing microtransactions like their famous mobile version.

It's a totally trap. From beta until now, the player experience becomes worse and worse. In the beginning it was interesting and fun. Most importantly, Blizzard continue to nerf the xp gains making the levelling process incredibly tedious and time consuming. Blizzard has also nerfed all the character classes to be completely ineffectual with every class having the majority of their skills functionally useless. If this review was written a week after release I would have given the game a 6 / 7. This game has a lot of potential but was released prematurely. The campaign and initial leveling experience seems fun, but quality of life and ability for player to be creative at endgame are terrible. Huge issues with inventory, saving builds, changing builds, crafting, tuning, the list goes on.

All players feedback aren't considered by the devs while they just keep focusing on how to make the gameplay long and virtually difficult as possible by making the players squishier and dealing less damage (just get a look to the 1.1.0 patch note, it is ridiculous). However, the initial execution, with substantial balancing patches within weeks of release, makes you wonder what testing Blizzard did from a player perspective and whether they rushed release for some unknown reason. Also, repeated stealth changes not mentioned in any patch notes makes you wonder why there is selective transparency from Blizzard.

The game is aimed at the causal player base, evidenced in a lack of build diversity for anyone who wants to invest time in exploring possibilities.

The ‘fun factor’ of the game has been significantly impacted by repeated changes (no more so than by patch 1.1.0 release just prior to the game’s first season - which significantly weakens every character). This is a slap in the face to anyone who has invested time - causal or hardcore - in building up and refining their choice of character.

The message is that the player base is beta testing a game they payed for - which should have been a lot for definite and polished upon release.

The huge swings in character power are off putting and make anyone think ‘why invest time now in building up a character?’, as if this pattern continues your fav build today could be turned upside down tomorrow. This degree of unpredictability and surety is not fun.

The changes implemented also ignore major quality of life changes the community have been crying out for (Storage space is at a minimum to encourage grinding, lack of interesting endgame, leaderboards, separate gem tabs….the list goes on).

Many of the most recent patch changes (1.1.0) are aimed at slowing the game down to make progressing take longer - keeping players in the game and adding incentive to play Seasonal content - of which even more can be charged for the Battlepass (following many spending 70 - 100 dollars / pounds for the game on release). Blizzard need to stop thinking like a corporate body and return to their roots of a gaming company - making ‘fun’ for their player base their top priority.

I would suggest staying clear of this one until the game is in more of a stable state with the player experience being the paramount objective.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.
