The gall of the developers at Blizzard now is outrageous. Save yourself the time, find something else to play. They way they dishonored their player base by literally destroying several builds and characters after 60-100+ hours, retroactively nerfing items that you farmed for, and completely breaking playstyles that existed. SAVE YOURSELF - HARD PASS.

I really enjoyed the campaign. But the developers agenda to turn this game into a full time job, and nerfing the fun in patch 1.1 has made this game unplayable. Don't give blizzard your money, they don't respect your time.

Disappointing. Not interrested in Season 1 anymore. Expand

The game had potentially. Then the Blizzard Development Team decided to remove what little fun the players had in an attempt to balance their terrible choices. Now I feel as if I have to wait for the "Reaper of Souls" expansion.

First of all I don’t spend my time leaving game reviews but this became a massive exception. DON’T BUY D4!!! First major patch before season starts gutted everyone’s gear of anything meaningful. I have no reason to play ever again thanks to Blizzard’s idea of making this a live service online only. It got boring really quickly when 99% loot is vendor trash. So much lack of content once you’ve beaten the campaign. I once had faith in this game when they listened and increased EXP gains much higher in nightmare dungeons. YET they release this patch and did a 180, making grinding/leveling that much more difficult!! If they wanted to gut all the fun from the game, why release it with all the stuff they took away from their players, which was subpar to begin with….? Where’s all the cool uniques, aspects, build variety … or anything for that matter? The 1.1 patch clearly demonstrates Blizz does not respect your time or any actual player feedback. Expand

Developers don't understand the Diablo sensibility at all.

Their patch direction is not very user friendly.

ive been a fan of diablo series since young, its my child hood, ive played since diablo 1. The thing is, diablo 4 was fun at first, until the dev team decided to slowly wreck everything up with either their ego or just pure stupidity. Diablo is fun due to its versatility on builds and items crafting/ hunting and also its level grind was bearable. Some how they manage to burry the game slowly with each patch, what a joke. What's need to be fix were constantly ignored while implementing nerfs on unneeded segments is pure JOKE, not sure the dev team trying to clown us or themselves at this point. Builds were suppose to be working from every classes are not working correctly ( they dont fix **** on every goddamn patch they impose, all they do is nerfing something else ) , zero quality of life ( even after tons of recommendation from users/ actual players have suggested ) they seems to be blind on this one, and finally it came to its glorious 1.1 patch, downright the most **** if not one of the patch in arpg history in recent years. You strip the fun out of the game you bunch of stubborn mules, why make a patch focusing to slow the entire game down? Nerf on exp gain, damage, affixes, armor, damage reduction and etc, like seriously? We were asking for endgame content, slowing the game down wasnt a content ffs, not at all. You guys dont like seeing people having fun is that it? or is it just a scheme to make the progress of season one direly slow so it would force people to do ingame purchase to level up the seasonal pass level? The list goes on but if you think nerfing the game on every patch is the way to keep the game going, well good luck on that, effing mules. Expand

Game was phenomenal with the original intent and design, but after a recent patch, the intent by the developers is to drive people away from the game to lower server populations with blanket reductions to capabilities, introducing class breaking flaws instead of providing corrections. Just another corporate money grab at this point. What a shame.

This game has a tons of issues need to be addressed. But Blizzard chose to ignore them, ignore the pains of players. They don't priority the problem solving, and even made some most critical ones worse. That is ridiculous. I never saw any company like Blizzard lacking of customer care.

Rated a 1 for the campaign, which is pretty decent. But that goes quick, and the midgame/endgame is abysmal, with seemingly no improvements on the horizon.

The way Blizzard treats players reminds me of an abusive spouse. They’ll shower you with small “gifts”, then knock you around a little bit to put you in your place, then they’ll say sorry and act like they’ve changed, only to hit you

The campaign was fun, but the game stagnates terribly after level 50. The developers have made numerous changes to make the game even slower and more of a time sink. There are dozens of better games being released this year which respect your time. This game does not.

The devs and community managers promise attention to and fixes for numerous issues, but then the patches exacerbate the issues instead of solving them. The focus seems to be on forcing players to spend as much time in the game as possible, not on making the game fun.

This game is worse than diablo 3 in every way. The lessons learned and wonderful progress made over years in that game is found nowhere in diablo 4.

I played 170+hrs and never have I been so dissapointed with the new patch that nerfed sorceror even though its the weakest among all the character.

Added a unique wand that has a very buggy interaction, can make you teleport under the ground and you wouldnt have the chance to get out unless your portal back to a town. Very dissapointing patch overall. I wouldnt recommend the game in this state.

I would ask for my money back if possible. It completely lost me during endgame. Some things were fun. I liked strongholds. Helltides as well. It felt like such a grind and completely uninteresting afterwards. I did enjoy the story. I do hate the online only aspect. That's a personal preference. I regret even suggesting to friends to buy it. Luckily, they were more patient than I was. II would ask for my money back if possible. It completely lost me during endgame. Some things were fun. Thinking the name will sell and press will help. It seems though the user experience was cometely put on the back burner. Maybe in a year it will be worth the 70 bucks. I would wait until it's been patched to partial fun. Probably cheaper too. One of my biggest game regrets in a very long time. Even Cyberpunk 2077 redeemed themselves after a long while. Perhaps Diablo 4 can too.
D3 was superior in almost every way. By miles.

I had fun before the season 1 patch even though there is a lot of things that needed to improve the QoL of the game like more stashes, paragon board reset and presets for each build. I think it is not worth the 100$ it costs.

Then... S1 patch came and literally just tried to nerf everything. This is one of the worst patch I have ever read and it is disgusting for an ARPG to be this

    Something along these lines:

"Stalin once ripped all the feathers off a live chicken as a lesson to his followers. He then set the chicken on the floor a short distance away. The chicken was bloodied and suffering immensely, yet, when Stalin began to toss some bits of wheat toward the chicken it followed him around."

Stalin then purportedly told his followers: "This is how easy it is to govern stupid people, they will follow you no matter how much pain you cause them, as long as you throw them a little worthless treat once in a while."

It's unreal that blizzard could waste so much potential so quickly. Patching the game to make it worse in every way, while not addressing any of the community feedback is another example in the long and repetitive history of just how disconnected the management teams at blizzard are from their communities. It's time for new blood fire these wash up geezers.

Game needed work, had TONS of ideas from hardcore players, streamers, and casuals that were brought forward. NOTHING was done to help fix the game or end game. They went opposite and said, "for the future". The future is over for me now. XP, DMG, SURV nerfs. MUNDANE glyph leveling, NM dungeons are worst part of the game. Helltides now a useless farm. I bet they update the gift shop though.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
