Blizzard nuked their game with these patches. They obviously don’t listen to fans and shouldnt be developing a game unless it’s for them to play in there basement for 14 hours a day and never let it see sunlight.

Patch 1.1 nerfed everything, that made the grind bearable.
Until then this game is dead for me.

The latest patch killed the game. Twice as hard to make it twice as long rather than adding challenging content. Dev team is a joke.

Loved this game, then the Season 1 patch notes came out and showed that the devs truly do not care what the players think

Was good before patch. They nerfed the fun out of the game. Now after the campaign is a slow grind with no content. They ruined endgame with this patch.

Don't buy this game. The devs are completely out of touch with the players and their game. Loot is boring and most is trash. The endgame consists of running the same 15 dungeons 100 times. They want to put you on the treadmill but have no reward to entice uou to keep grinding.

Started off with potential. Consumers gave them a pass on the early and still ongoing performance issues. However, with so many poor balance passes and strange decisions it's hard to recommend any time investment into this release.
The game itself, can be fun, but with some of the worse decision making ever seen, the confidence in improvement, at this point remains low.

The game started strong but the vision for endgame was non-existent. Also the approach to patching the game recently has slowed the pace of the game more than that the community had already found to be unacceptable. Tone deaf development.

The story is okay - fun for once, but ARPG's aren't about story.
There is no depth in what you can do, what you can drop, what you can build.
Inventory and stash management is incredibly tedious for 2023 game. Vendors are on different sides of town to waste your time. Stash is filled with gems. Only 4 shared stash tabs across different characters ( wtf? ) No economy. Gold sink is

    No economy.
    Gold sink is ludicrous.
Endgame content is nightmare dungeons, which are incredibly boring with all pedestal rocks - just let people zoom...
Characters move way too slow even if you drop highest roll movement amulets and boots.
    Cooldowns are long and boring.
If you played ARPG's for a while now, you will be able to identify all "builds" in 20 - 30 minutes.
And you will never feel like you made this beast of a character like you can in POE, Last Epoch.
With best possible gear it feels the same as with mediocre gear. Slow and repetitive.

They introduced 0 fun things for 1st season and increased the tediousness.
And there was already so so much tediousness in this game.

Blizzard is dead. So is this game - at least for now.
    Back to POE boys.

Ive been in the franchise since the original Diablo.

This feels like we are still in beta. It feels like whoever is writing the patch notes does not even understand game mechanics or the gameplay.

example why have ghors gloves with attack speed when it does not even work with whirlwind.

Latest patch notes are perfect example

Gameplay feels very isolated. A 'multiplayer' game that has no features to let players look for party. There isn't even a general chat channel or any social features. Clans serve as nothing more than just a chat channel. Other than occasionally running into people in the open world, it's still very much a solo game.

Further more, it is clear they shipped an incomplete beta version

Further more, it is clear they shipped an incomplete beta version looking at the numerous technical and gameplay issues and missing features that the devs say will come in a few months.

There's a persistent memory leak issue present since launch affecting even top end rigs that causes stutters that gets progressively worse as you play.

Content wise, mid and end-game is completely sparse. To artificially prolong the game's playability, they are intending to drip feed content slowly. In the mean time, to fix the lack of content, they are nerfing everything to slow down progress.

Just like Diablo 3, Diablo IV may become a decent game, but it'll take a few years for the devs to work on the game.

When the game developer tells you not to expect the "finished" product on release, you know the game is finished before its even released.

The user interface is terrible, inventory management is terrible, quality of life is terrible, end-game is terrible, and the list goes on and on. Just visit their official forums and see how many negative posts there are. They said they will

They said they will listen to feedback from players and implement them. Separate inventory space for gems? Season 2. Leaderboard? Season 3. Do they really need at least half a year to implement such minor changes?

I would recommend you to purchase the game few years down the road when it is on christmas sale for 10 bucks. That way you get to save and play the game when it is more "complete".

It takes the qualities to ruin ahead of time an experience that, even with many problems, had potential.
What's the point of extending a season patch to the inside world since the new mechanics will be eliminated in the third month.
With what courage can I now buy the Battle Pass, or rather with what desire can I face the new season which basically only has the mechanics of these hearts

The patch had only one effect making me return to PoE making me regret having abandoned it for these 5 weeks and making me wait even more hype for the presentation of PoE2.
As for WOW, Diablo 4, personally, is done with me too... they will be able to release all the seasons and DLCs they want but the point is that by now we can no longer trust Blizzard and that band of developers who after this patch have shown that they have never played the game they developed themselves.
I strongly advise against the purchase and save the money that it is not really worth it. GG BLIZZARD

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was fun for maybe a week. Then I realized how grindy it is for lackluster very random loot. As a casual gamer, I can't spend hours every day just farming for a RNG chance at getting better loot. I swear I scrap 99% of what is dropping. Also, if you don't use a few meta builds you're experience will be much worse, especially after they nerfed pretty much every aspect forcing you to spend even more time farming loot. I wish I could get my $70 back. They basically made what should have been a free to play game with season battle pass. Expand

I gave it a 1/10 as the art style and atmosphere at least hit the theme of the universe. Blizzard is an empty shell of a game developer that used to put its fan base first, now, it's a soulless, void of anything reputable and undeserving of devoting fans money.

The campaign is a weak adventure upheld by lore and aspirations created by a team more than 20 years ago. They had everything handed to them on a plate, instead, we got a fairy tale campaign without the gritty, destructive aspects of the true prime evils. We got an obvious expansion arc in the form of Mephisto the puppy, and Lilith, who shone in the cinematics but failed in every other aspect.

D2 LOD exploded a man with tentacles for merely challenging Baal, now, our hero doesn't even feel phased in the presence of the prime evil effigies.

Funnily enough, the campaign was the strong point of Diablo IV. The loot system is not rewarding, there is no identity to the loot system, stat systems are confusing and character development is pinned against bloated and unfinished paragon systems.

I find it even more astonishing that Vicarious Visions, a company known for its remasters had to come to the rescue and prop up the already gouged development team. I suspect that they were handed a dead carcass of a D4 MMO and then tasked with salving it into a modern ARPG.

35 hours is all I managed, I had to force myself to reach level 70 on my necromancer, desperately using every ounce of nostalgia to force-feed this junk into my fingertips.

No wonder Blizzard, sorry, ACTIVISION decided to axe TCP/IP support for D2R. It's evident that D4 wouldn't stand a chance against a modded D2R fan base.

The game is Action RPG but the action is slow and getting reduced further. Dungeon crawling game with mundane dungeon quests. No balance of classes in PVE and PVP. Developers are tone deaf to what the players suggest. Doubt the developers even play the game to any meaningful effect. I stopped playing.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
