Blizzard nuked their game with these patches. They obviously don’t listen to fans and shouldnt be developing a game unless it’s for them to play in there basement for 14 hours a day and never let it see sunlight.

Don't buy this game. The devs are completely out of touch with the players and their game. Loot is boring and most is trash. The endgame consists of running the same 15 dungeons 100 times. They want to put you on the treadmill but have no reward to entice uou to keep grinding.

Started off with potential. Consumers gave them a pass on the early and still ongoing performance issues. However, with so many poor balance passes and strange decisions it's hard to recommend any time investment into this release.
The game itself, can be fun, but with some of the worse decision making ever seen, the confidence in improvement, at this point remains low.

The game started strong but the vision for endgame was non-existent. Also the approach to patching the game recently has slowed the pace of the game more than that the community had already found to be unacceptable. Tone deaf development.

The story is okay - fun for once, but ARPG's aren't about story.

    No economy.
    Gold sink is ludicrous.
Endgame content is nightmare dungeons, which are incredibly boring with all pedestal rocks - just let people zoom...
Characters move way too slow even if you drop highest roll movement amulets and boots.
    Cooldowns are long and boring.
If you played ARPG's for a while now, you will be able to identify all "builds" in 20 - 30 minutes.
And you will never feel like you made this beast of a character like you can in POE, Last Epoch.
With best possible gear it feels the same as with mediocre gear. Slow and repetitive.

They introduced 0 fun things for 1st season and increased the tediousness.
And there was already so so much tediousness in this game.

Blizzard is dead. So is this game - at least for now.

Further more, it is clear they shipped an incomplete beta version looking at the numerous technical and gameplay issues and missing features that the devs say will come in a few months.

There's a persistent memory leak issue present since launch affecting even top end rigs that causes stutters that gets progressively worse as you play.

Content wise, mid and end-game is completely sparse. To artificially prolong the game's playability, they are intending to drip feed content slowly. In the mean time, to fix the lack of content, they are nerfing everything to slow down progress.

Just like Diablo 3, Diablo IV may become a decent game, but it'll take a few years for the devs to work on the game.

They said they will listen to feedback from players and implement them. Separate inventory space for gems? Season 2. Leaderboard? Season 3. Do they really need at least half a year to implement such minor changes?

I would recommend you to purchase the game few years down the road when it is on christmas sale for 10 bucks. That way you get to save and play the game when it is more "complete".

The patch had only one effect making me return to PoE making me regret having abandoned it for these 5 weeks and making me wait even more hype for the presentation of PoE2.
As for WOW, Diablo 4, personally, is done with me too... they will be able to release all the seasons and DLCs they want but the point is that by now we can no longer trust Blizzard and that band of developers who after this patch have shown that they have never played the game they developed themselves.

As a casual gamer, I can't spend hours every day just farming for a RNG chance at getting better loot. I swear I scrap 99% of what is dropping. Also, if you don't use a few meta builds you're experience will be much worse, especially after they nerfed pretty much every aspect forcing you to spend even more time farming loot. The campaign is a weak adventure upheld by lore and aspirations created by a team more than 20 years ago. They had everything handed to them on a plate, instead, we got a fairy tale campaign without the gritty, destructive aspects of the true prime evils. We got an obvious expansion arc in the form of Mephisto the puppy, and Lilith, who shone in the cinematics but failed in every other aspect.

D2 LOD exploded a man with tentacles for merely challenging Baal, now, our hero doesn't even feel phased in the presence of the prime evil effigies.

Funnily enough, the campaign was the strong point of Diablo IV. The loot system is not rewarding, there is no identity to the loot system, stat systems are confusing and character development is pinned against bloated and unfinished paragon systems.

I find it even more astonishing that Vicarious Visions, a company known for its remasters had to come to the rescue and prop up the already gouged development team. I suspect that they were handed a dead carcass of a D4 MMO and then tasked with salving it into a modern ARPG.

35 hours is all I managed, I had to force myself to reach level 70 on my necromancer, desperately using every ounce of nostalgia to force-feed this junk into my fingertips.

No wonder Blizzard, sorry, ACTIVISION decided to axe TCP/IP support for D2R. It's evident that D4 wouldn't stand a chance against a modded D2R fan base.

Diablo 4 single- handedly alienated all the Casuals/Mid/Hardcore gamers with its Base game and its latest S1 patch.

Diablo Devs are so hardheaded with their approach for Diablo 4 that they do not listen to its community feedback and it's always "WE ARE RIGHT, YOU ARE WRONG". They need a Dev overhaul, Rod needs to go pronto.

Maybe in a couple years the game/devs will change for the better, but for now, Diablo is dead.

Do. Not. Buy. Wait till this goes on sale in a few years. I very much regret my decision, especially with the new "Fun Nerf" patch where what little fun was in the game has been taken out. Blizzard continues to prove they don't care about their fans or player base. I'll be deleting this to free up space and call it a sunk cost.

Paid $100 to beta test a AAA title with next to no end game, season 1 had tons of changes, non of them address any of the quality of life problems in the systems built into this game, maybe in a few more beta iterations (seasons) some of it will be ironed out and they will have a complete product, don’t waste as much time as I have on this.

QOL features like a party finder and manageable storage space are completely missing. The game is also riddled with questionable design decisions and bugs like resistances not working although res is the main form of defense for certain classes.

This recent patch was a ham-fisted attempt at slowing down the game since they don't have any quality endgame content to offer their players. Oh and don't forget, if this season seems like a slog you can always buy an Accelerated Battle Pass for 25 USD and skip through some of the pain points!

Then to top it all off, 7/18 released a patch which I can only describe as a complete slap in the face. Not a single QOL update, nerfed all damage and survivability, nerfed helltides for literally no reason. And the cherry on the cake is making the dungeon exit timer go from 3 seconds to 5 seconds. Diablo 4 General Game Feedback (pre-Season 1 patch):

    The Good:
The campaign story experience was interesting and engaging and felt like a decent organic leveling experience. Then, at level 37 through 70 I ran around and did all Strongholds, Dungeons, Altars of Lilith, all map exploration, and engaged in Tree of Whispers, Legion and Helltide dynamic events and a few Nightmare Dungeons; all mostly in World Tier 3. Then at 70 I battled my way solo through the capstone dungeon (fun and challenging) to get into World Tier 4. I was instantly killed regularly (Sorceress) and just stopped playing. Then I decided to go experience the other classes up to level 30 so I could at least equip them at 25 with the appropriate aspects for their class and build (see below).

The randomness of The Butcher appearing in a dungeon was amazing! The sense of panic and having to react to him to survive was an excellent element in the game and one of the best concepts I have experienced in any game. I wish there were more bosses randomly appearing at times like that.

The overall graphics and sound/music was good. The character customization was average, and the cosmetics from the shop were reasonable but need more variety which I expect will happen over time.

    The Bad:
Incredibly limited storage space on the character and in the stash. Need to move gems, aspects and sigils to the materials list. Storage needs a search feature. Equipment icons need better artwork to not all look the same.
The social aspect of the game is meh at best. Other than open world dynamic events, I didn't group with anyone. Even though I was in a clan with members from other games, we hardly talked or grouped.

    The Ugly:
The crowd control (stun, slow, freeze, walls, snares, etc.) is ridiculous in this game. Losing control of a character is not fun gaming, even if it is 5% or less of the time in combat. In this game? It's 75% or more of the time during combat!

The number of monsters that cause damage after death is also completely unacceptable. It's one thing for a single mob type, like "fatties," having that miserable affix is one thing, but 95% of the mobs in this game explode and/or stun you after they die. Why? WHY?!!

The mount feature is pathetic! It doesn't path well, and is incredibly slow and has limited "burst" to get out of trouble. It's faster to just walk sometimes? Terrible.

The itemization in this game is unnecessarily complex and the loot drops are completely worthless 99.999% of the time. There's no excitement from finding a unique, which is often worse than a legendary you've been wearing for many, MANY, hours of gameplay.

The lack of defenses and resistances was bad, and just got incredibly worse in the Season 1 patch. Combine this with the miserable amount of crowd control and post-death damage and it's not a fun game to play, full stop.

    Class Leveling Experience Feedback:
I leveled one class to 70, the rest to 30.

Sorcerer - Firewall to Ice Shards (70)
Was mostly fun. Firewall graphics were awesome! However , damage didn’t scale against higher level content and I re-specialized into ice shards which was visually less fun but very effective. Overall it was fun but incredibly squishy for a game style requiring melee distance. I got to World Tier 4 and struggled to survive so I stopped to go test other classes.

    Rogue – Twisting Blades (30)
The most effective and fluid playstyle of all available classes. It wasn’t as visually fun as Sorcerer, but it was so efficient in clearing any content. Great in multi-target or single target. Awesome experience at each stage from 1 to 30!

    Necromancer – Bone Spear (30)
A bit slow to get going, but eventually was effective from level 12 to 30. It was somewhat fun, but not as fluid as Rogue or Sorc. Visually it was fine, and it felt resource constrained in longer boss fights.

    Barbarian – Whirlwind (30)
This is typically my favorite class in the Diablo franchise. However, this was brutal. It was clunky, sluggish, and resource constrained the entire way from 1 to 30. Visually it was “meh.” It felt like the character was stuck in mud and struggling for resources throughout most of the experience.

    Druid – Tornado (30)
This was horrible. Same exact issues as the Barbarian in being resource constrained and sluggish at every step.

    Summary:
The Sorcerer and Rogue were mostly fun but need improvements for survivability. The visual effects for fire are the best in the game, and all other class effects could be improved to that benchmark. I might consider pushing both classes to 100. The Necromancer shows potential but feels unfinished/unpolished. I might revisit this class in the future based on patch notes. The Barbarian and Druid were a miserable experience. I’d rather be dragged through a mile of broken glass than play one more hour on either of these classes.

This game suffers from the same issues as every other activision title- looks cool enough to reel you in, but past a few hours the whole goal is to drag you along. The latest 1.1 patch is proof of this. The game was released initially with massive class issues, rather than fix those issues in the month leading up to season one, Blizzard ignored everyone’s suggestions and pushed out a patch to slow down the game. Okay, fine, slow down the game, but fix the balance issues. Sorcerer class is useless, other classes are teetering on obscurity. Tons of quality of life issues. Absolute mess. Already wasted $70, no way I’m spending another $30 on battle pass. By level 60 the game has become an endless grind of garbage loot. Every time you find a build and loot you enjoy blizzard decides you cant play the game you paid for unless you play it their way. Grinding nightmare dungeons is mindless and now even more so with the XP nerfs. These guys can never let a game be fun, it has to live up to their micromanaged online dev math that is more akin to sorcery than actual sense and must all fall within their desires to keep you playing an already overpriced game and buying the ridiculously priced skins and customizations that look flung together by children. I had originally told everyone i was not going to preorder but Blizzard being the snake oil salesmen they are made things enjoyable originally to get sales up then pulled the rug out. I will NEVER buy another blizzard game again the way this company micromanages everything to their own end for a game that at the end of the quite frankly is not at all fun but frustrating to everyone but people on the autistic spectrum who use it to stim. What the dev's did to this game was pretty much nerf all the fun out of it. I keep replaying the scene in Star Wars were Obi-Wan says to Anakin, you were suppose to bring balance, not leave it in darkness. This is what happens when the Dev's do not listen to the community.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
