    Blizzard really pulled a bait and switch on me with this one, these crafty little goblins. They released the game in a state where the casual andy's and reviewers enjoy it and then pull a patch in season 1 to make the game grindier for more player retention. It's a dirty little trick and I'm really upset that it's too late to get my money back after they robbed me. This company has really gone to crap. I remember being 8 years old and loving Blizzard and daydreaming about all of the amazing games they could make in the future with better technology. Yet I keep falling for their dirty tricks every time.. Tomorrow they'll stay Starcraft 3!! And then 8 year old loses his mind and becomes a little boy again and has to play it and get his hands on it... I need to grow up man, I can't let this company does this to me anymore.     At launch, I would've given Diablo 4 an 8, possibly even a 9. The game wasn't perfect, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, at least throughout the campaign, and for a while after. Patch 1.1.0a happened, though, and as a result I'm actually giving the first zero I've ever given in any review on any site. Without fixing anything the community considered a problem, the patch gutted playerAt launch, I would've given Diablo 4 an 8, possibly even a 9. The game wasn't perfect, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, at least throughout the campaign, and for a while after. Without fixing anything the community considered a problem, the patch gutted player damage output and survivability, across the board. Nerfs happen, we all know that. In this instance, however, there's a strong case to be made that they simply felt players were getting too far too fast, and that crippling them would further sales of their season pass tier skips. I've never seen a worse patch, much less a worse first major patch, and unless Blizzard reverses course, I'm done with the game.     I asked for a refund, but had spent too much time on the beta weekends apparently.

    They are nerfing the only way to explore the game with crushing the open world xp / monster level.

    Just like diablo 3 is a downgrade from diablo 2, this is a downgrade from even diablo 3, with microtransactions. In the 2000s there's a lot of lame Korean grindy online games inspired by diablo 2; this thing plays just like those abominations.

Blizzard is not the same it once was, the people working at Blizzard ain't same and I think everyone can see this. They only makes the game worse instead of better with patches. Other companies i prove the game, but Blizzard are fifferent and make it worse..

    The game is rather repetitive and lacks depth. It was sold as a $70 experience, plus there is a recurring cost with seasons. I think the game is hardly worth the cost. The only place where the game excels is in the graphics department, but then I'd rather spend $80 on subscribing to a streaming service or buying a couple of 4k blurays. I regret buying it — would recommend others pass.

    World bosses have such long respawn timers and terrible spawn times.

    Getting upgrades at 75+ is slow if not impossible with uber uniques drop rates lower than winning the lottery.

    Builds for each class all have a majority of slots taken by the same few skills leaving 1 or 2 slots free.

    Game balance is awful some classes have multiple viable builds where others have none.

    Dev team is of extremely poor quality and it shows with the continuous tone death patches and responses to community feed back.

    Inventory is very limited with one shared stash for 10 characters.

    Constant nerfing of xp, drop rates, items, aspects, skills, and modifiers to slow down gameplay making it feel even more unrewarding like a working in a coal mine instead of playing a game.

    tldr this game is extremely flawed and it is nobodies fault but the developers and higher ups it's not worth spending your time or money on this cash grab.    … Expand

    Last patch completely killed the game. I paid $100 for this game, started out enjoying myself, only to have them pull the rug out from under me a month in. I’ve uninstalled it, and have finally learned my lesson: no more Blizzard slop.

Everyone is using yellow items upgraded to legandarys, almost every unique ist absolut crap and are not usefull for endgame Builds except 2-3 items like the tempest roar for druids.     Had to create an account just to write this review. Leaving the ongoing rubber banding issues aside, the patch was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was playing as a sorcerer and I'm just gonna bin it. Can't even return the damn game. Definitely uninstalling it. This was a moneygrab without quality delivery.

    What I like about this game?
    - it looks very cool, more like D2 (and i LOVE D2)
    - gameplay is nice
    BUT
    Lags are huge and a sometimes game crashes makes this game hard to play for me (and I have pretty nice PC, no other game is so laggy for me like this one).
    PvP is very very bad, worst PvP I have ever seen.

I can’t recall if I ever wanted a refund before, but I want now. This is even worse than f2p trash. I forced myself to even finish campaign. Deleted after it right away. Waste of money.

    The item upgrade feels very inorganic as u have to hunt for items with the right affixes wehther its rare, legendary or unique, and then repeat as u level up. Most of the affixes do not present a way that is game changing during lvling process and the resource mgt is not fun until u come up with something like the mother embrace ring.

    There seems to be no testing for class mechanics before release and it persists post-release judging from the gaps between necro, druid and sorc.

    I did not really like the potion system in D3, D4 is worse because the low cap at start is worse than potion cooldown.

    The horse cooldown and shuttering start at release is annoying as hell.

    The only thing done right maybe the starting trailer which has good bgm, the story line is soso.

    The fact that the game designer(s) in chief celebrated this game success is kinda sick joke, completely outta touch.    … Expand

    I always play as some kind of dark user so im was really happy to try a necromancer with Minions mastering. The game have nice ambient and sound, the effects and the initial lore was so dark that i was having a blast so far while leveling.

    I Mostly spend all my game time playing the story mode, when i reach endgame T3 i sadly noticed and realized that this was a treadmill and endless farming.
    I stopped playing and I've been waiting with hope that the famous season will bring improvements and less tedious gameplay but was all the contraries, The last patch just finished to F&% the game even more.

    This will be my last blizzard product, before diablo IV my last product was Diablo III so you better believe me when i say I WONT Spend a single dollar in this crap company anymore.

    DR nerfs should have never happened before fixing the resistances, Damage nerfs should have never happened without introducing the essential QoL features everyone is asking for. Also, they did a very **** job for class balance.

    There is a huge gap between the performance of different builds making it a forced single option if you want to be able to do something.

    On top of this Blizzard seems to not acknowledge these issues and instead they go for making the grind worse and destroying the popular builds and stats / aspects. But they don't balance others. I got to 74 because i was playing with friends. Was gonna try something different for season one but looking at the direction of the game i will just take a break and allow them to either find the right path or just kill their game.    … Expand

Blizzard knows they made a terrible game and need to scam their players with these 'ooopsies, you accidentally bought something' tricks. Don't play this & don't let your kids think that this is blizzard you grew up on.

    Truth be told, I don't even have much of a problem with non-P2W microtransactions, because I have to accept reality that AAA online PvP multiplayer on Playstation will basically only happen if MTX is included. You can thank greedy and lazy "story-driven" developers like Sony Santa Monica for that, because they save so much money by giving us half of the game at full price, and still make bank. So of course, developers that give us the full game are going to monetize the online portion for that extra work. My problem is that I already spent $70 on this mobile game that isn't even close to a true AAA experience, and the greedy developers still have the audacity to add MTX. Seeing how this is an online only mobile game with MTX, it should've been free-to-play. This outrageous greed makes EA and Take-Two look like saints in comparison. At least they have full priced games with actual AAA quality. Battlefront 2 or GTA V alone has better quality than the entire Blizzard catalogue combined. That's embarrassing.

    As I already mentioned, this game is online only. So once the developers decide to shut down the servers, this game will end up in the trash can. Charging $70 for a game with no offline modes is a cash grab. The multiplayer is trash. Online is unstable. Blizzard proves once again they aren't capable of making a game with AAA quality. Nothing but free-to-play quality games from these lazy and greedy developers. Blizzard fans ranting over MTX is very ironic. If you're one of those gamers that spent $70+ on WoW, then you have no right to speak against MTX, because you're the reason why they exist in the first place. Whenever you level up enemies' level with you. Because of this you feel just as strong when you were in level 1, there is no point. The game is a hot mess, and I want my money back!

    It's clear after patch 1.1 that blizz either has no idea what they're doing or they hate the player base. How else can you explain them making the game significantly worse with each update. Diablo 2 and 3 are a couple of my favorite games ever, but i don't see D4 turning around and becoming great like 3 eventually did.

    It is probably a 3/10, but the corporate shill 10/10 need to be offset. My class sorcerer has maybe 2 viable builds which get boring after 1h. The world is big but bland with maybe 10 different enemy types in total. It plays like a Chinese mobile whale milking game.

I know people say they are only cosmetic etc. Yet this is a full priced game, the really “cool” skins should be the result of gameplay not $20. If Fortnite wants to sell skins, fine it’s free to play. Selling skins in full price games only incentives developers to hold back content to sell at a premium.     the grind broken classes and lacking build diversity items etc followed by the worst patch in diablo history destroyed almost everyones will and motivation (including mine) to play Diablo IV. Patch 1.1 should've existed out of QoL and/or harder content such as torment 5, 6, or above.
    But instead they nerfed the classes into oblivion where as the sorcerer is not even playable anymore.
    Blizzard as a company is out of touch, and has lost complete sense of feel or connection with the player base.

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

    Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
