    Unbelieveable.

    Single player wise, game gets shorter and loses it's epic feeling almost completely in this installment. Modern Warfare 3 is the worst of all three. I did not liked the idea of flashbacks in Black Ops but even it was better to play! Back in multiplayer. It is just a new map pack to MW2, oh no, MW2 is way better than MW3. I'll stick with CoD4 for a while more. It is the    Unbelieveable.

    It's not that the game is bad,just same old....everything....I felt like black ops at least had some small improvements, but this is a big step backwards....too many better games the year to worry about MW3...too bad I already bought it, should have read Metacritic reader reviews first...     Re-Hashed and regurgetated mw2

    Ran through the story line in 1 hr and 25 minutes.

    Online already hacked, full of cheaters.

    Not worth the 65 bucks.

    this game is the EXACT same as mw2 and there are even recycled buildings. no effort has been put into this game at all its just a cut and paste version of mw2 they keep pumping out games every year and dont even bother to make it good because people will buy it anyways

    Worst Call of Duty to date. Same exact game if compared to Modern Warfare 2. This could have been DLC for MW2. It's really sad how a developer can call this a new game just to make money off people.

    payed 60 dollars for a copy and paste game with a new addition to spec ops mode called "survival".... not worth the money. IGN gives it a 9 when it doesn't deserve a 5 score.

    Disappointing end to the series.

    Campaign is not worthy of the Modern Warfare series, Modern Warfare 2 and COD4 had much better campaigns.

    Maybe next time, Activision.

    Cant believe I spent 60$ for a MW2 map pack. By far the worst game of the 2011 line up. I advise you to stay away from this game. Do yourself a favor and buy BF3, Skyrim or Uncharted 3. Those are games that developers actually took their time on unlike this rerun. Makes you think what did they really work on in the last 2 years because I see nothing new besides a new lame game mode.

THe campaign, as always, is very linear, not giving you choices on how to complete the level...you go from checkpoint to checkpoint...multiplayer still suffers from connection issues, and no its not the internet....with yearly releases, you'd think by now activision would give us dedicated servers. i own 3 CoD games, CoD4, MW2, and BO...until i see vast improvement, i wont be buying another CoD game ever again. i do give activision credit though, they almost got me again....Save yourself the 60 bucks, and pass on this game..especially with so many other good games out there like Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Saints Row 3, and Arkham City. The developers for these games actually put effort and time, unlike activision, IW, and Treyarch, where they just reuse and recycle the same crap every year.… Expand

Graphics are dated, I have seen better, sounds are just pathetic and don't get me started on the horrible campaing mode. Save your cash if you already have Cod 4, you will not miss out on anything.

Now i dislike BF games just as much, however i must say at least when i went out and got Bad company 2... i was compelled to get it on two damn platforms just so i could play it everywhere i went.     When I started playing FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS, I began with HALO. When COD MW:1 came out, I was hooked with the series until Black Ops. Then I was introduced to Battlefield BadCompany 2, which is when I said screw COD. I could not wait for Battlefield 3...but then a few weeks before it came out, I began remembering my days with COD...the glory days. I almost got excited for MW3.     I thought I would give the CoD series one last chance to prove itself. Unfortunately though it has failed to impress me yet again. Its just the same unimaginative, rebranded waste of £40 we seem to be paying an ever increasing amount for. Its such a shame when you look back to CoD's origins and see a genuinely new and exciting game in CoD 1 and 2, but they are just flogging aI thought I would give the CoD series one last chance to prove itself. For $15 you got 5 maps. I think the hate only got worse when people realized that they made a new Call of Duty Game every year and it didn't change much.     Game is absolute garbage. The campaign just felt absolutely forced and was completely forgettable by the end of it. Spec Ops is trash because zombies in WaW and Black Ops was just so much better. Not to mention you were able to play it with upto 3 other people that you know! Where's the fun in fighting endless enemies with only one other person? There is no fun in that.     An overpriced content pack masquerading as a full fledged release. The dev teams involved although did do their best to deliver a functional game with new content despite the massive IW split, outside of this commendable merit this game warrants none.

    The game is buggy, and boring. And paying greater than full game price for a map-pack of MW1 is a scam. I feel scammed for buying it. The graphics were good.... if this was 2003. The sounds were sub-par, the game play is the same, with no variaton...... It's basically COD Modern mappack 3.

    After i bought this game MW3 i felt like i just been ripped off and on top of all this i even bought into the call of duty elite i feel like real a dumb ass...... I shoulda just gave my one hundred and fourteen dollars to the bums around my town at least it woulda went to someone who needs it. This game is a port of MW2 with different maps and kill streaks.     This game is exact the same thing than MW2, except the name...

    The campaign lasts only 3 hours and you will never play it again.

    Save your money for Rage or Skyrim.

    1) I don't recommend playing the single-player campaign. You're better-off watching it on youtube!!
    2) Multi-player maps suck.
    3) I don't believe I paid $49 for ELITE membership. I would like a refund.
    4) Get Treyarch back cause Black Ops is bloody awesome!!

    Very disappointed! I was hoping MW3 would address the long running online issues such as lag, joining friend's party, server time out issues, etc but this has sorted none of them. Tried playing last night with 3 friends, 2 couldn't join my party yet we could all join another persons, when we were in game lobby 2 of us kept getting kicked out. If this was released as a map pack forVery disappointed! I was hoping MW3 would address the long running online issues such as lag, joining friend's party, server time out issues, etc but this has sorted none of them. Tried playing last night with 3 friends, 2 couldn't join my party yet we could all join another persons, when we were in game lobby 2 of us kept getting kicked out. If this was released as a map pack for £10 I might have thought I was getting a good deal as this is just MW2 all over again with no improvement.     I really loved the series but it got more and more disappointing after call of duty 2. The first two games were great and after that they put so much stupid stuff in the game. For example a helicopter that kills the other team for you or a sentry gun that kills people walking infront of it. That takes no skill at all.     If you have Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops you don't need to buy this game, choose Battlefield 3 instead. Repetitive gameplay, old graphic engine, only a couple of new features but that isn't nearly enough to buy it.

But seeing as all the Infinity Ward creative talent jumped ship and are having to sue Activision to get paid for their work, it's hardly surprising that the Sledgehammer Guys and the handful of Infinity Ward Staffers who stayed behind didnt want to try anything new.
    Here's hoping the guys at Respawn can one-up their former    £45 for a Modern Warfare 2 map pack is pretty steep...     Bought this game, took it home, and played it. Then I realized the game I was playing was one that I already owned. I had owned several copies of this game. Why did I even go out and buy it? I thought it was new game, but I already have three of them.

    As expected this is just a copy from the last game with no real improvements to the Multiplayer. Singleplayer has some new stuff but if that were the game alone no one would buy it anyway. Seriously, let's get behind the FPS craze please.

    This is just a re-skinned MW2 with some new guns and not much else, It's should of been a DLC for MW2 and while they where there they should of fixed that abortion of a game. These guys at IW have again shamed themselves by not offering any innovation at all.     It's very sad, that people give a developer credit for lazy work. Half of the sounds, equipment, perks, guns, and only one new attachment are in the game. 80% of the killstreaks are the same. And you always the get the felling "I have done this before". Survival is sorry attempted at zombies and fails flat. The same COD formula is use.

    Another MW game, and this time, they didn't bother to hide the fact that they were reusing textures and building from the fourth installment, or that they hardly changed anything about the overall gameplay. In fact, they seemed to have taken a step back from their newer game, Black Ops, opting for a tired out MW2 system. Brainless fun, a junk food of a game. Save your 60$.

It tracks your stats and shows you overheads of maps. Back in the golden era of PC gaming, we got those types of services (as well as updates, new maps and weapons, and other major releases) for free. Now greedy companies like Activision want us to pay a continual fee for such services. It really displays the lack of dignity and respect game developers and publishers have for their customer base these days.

    So to summarize:
    Activision would have us buy a $60 game which brings literally zero innovation to the table and offers little more than a re-skin of its prequel. Then Activision expects us to pay $50 per year so that we can track our stats online (you read that correctly, people). Then they announce 20 DLC updates within the next year, basically admitting that they sold us an incomplete game (but don't worry, for the small price of $50 per year, you can make your Call of Dutyâ    … Expand

    The single player is the same old linear action movie wannabe ripoff that it always has been. Multiplayer has been changed up slightly but for the worse. Elite is a total ripoff. If you want a better Multiplayer experience go play battlefield 3.

    Modern Warfare 3? A new videogame? I was thinking that was a DLC of 70$. You will feel like you've stepped back in time 6-7 years. The graphics are brown and grey and decay-esque, the gun sounds are horrible.

    They've used the same in game icons, no new death animations, same killcam and just basically the same audio only boosted with advanced clarity and maybe more treble and bass because the guns do sound a tad more realistic.

    The campaign itself was just a Michael Bay movie. So many explosions and action but most of it for no good reason except for it to break silence. So, MW3 has it's good points and that is familiarity, it basically is a CoD game. But, it's a CoD game I already own. This game could has easily been a DLC map pack for MW2 and because of that fact and the fact I paid full game price, I have to give it a low score.

    Please Activision, wake up and stop recycling your ideas. We're bored of it and we don't appreciate paying that much for poor quality, especially with money problems in this day and age.    … Expand

I took the previous game series in which I could not play because of all the problems with their servers so I decided to stop playing in the series!!     Mw3 is basically a map pack, all in all it uses an outdated engine, with very minor tweaks to make it seam that there is a difference between it and that of MW2, but as matter of fact, there really isn't much of a difference, the multiplayer is the same as any other COD title, shares the same formula of: 1- Kill, 2- get kill streak, 3- use killstreak to kill more people, 4- repeat.

    I can guess what are the next titles of COD... Black Ops 2, Then MW4, and just use this formula its pretty easy (name+number+1) on all titles that's the only difference on this COD games... Last Number... Same Engine, with some tweaks so it doesn't look pretty obvious is the same sh*t over and over...

Is true the engine might be re touch a little, but you can't really tell. This game fails at bringing something new on the table. Critics might say is worth it but from a player stand point is one to let go. At least treyarch did great at releasing something fresh and new last year.    … Expand

I have been playing this series since the first Modern Warfare. Last night I took my MW3 disc out of my PS3 and i don't know if i'll put it back in. I was asked to play one match on Black OPS of multiplayer then log refresh the page. When i put my Black OPS disc is and loaded my first match, I was blown away at how much better the game looked and played. I felt Infinity Ward had the upper hand Treyarch when it comes to the Call of Duty series but MW3 really let me down. I read a article on IGN about how MW3 was not a port of MW2, but i couldn't tell any different. colors look washed out, sound is lacking. I have not played the campaign but i don't see any reason to. I really think I will stick with Battlefield 3 and think twice before I spend $100 on a game ( Hardened Edition ). Activision, Sledgehammer I wish you could have provided me an experience that i was hoping for.     I would urge even the most die hard COD fans to consider what message they are sending to game devlopers if the give MW3 a high score.

    The gaming industry is more and more ripping of consumers by simply re-skinning games instead of making new ones. When will devlopers actually develop new engines? Do we have to wait till the next generation of consoles?     The gaming industry is more and more ripping of consumers by simply re-skinning games instead of making new ones. When will devlopers actually develop new engines? Do we have to wait till the next generation of consoles?

    How much work went into the making of MW3, in comparison to say COD4? MW3 uses the same map objects (such as the busses, the tanks) as seen in COD4. These objects exist in Activision library - map creation for them is simply a drag-and-drop. It's not creation.

    The graphics, the gameplay, the engine... everything is the same. How much of MW3 is actually different or original? 20% perhaps?

    I'm asking everyone on metacritic, for the sake of future game development, to score this game low & send a message to the gaming industy, LOUD & CLEAR that we WILL NOT ACCEPT re-hashed, re-skin products.

    If you want to reap the profits, but in the work. Develop game play, develop the engine, improve the graphics... don't patronise your own customers by changing the maps and retailing the game at premium price.    … Expand

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
