    i have both modern warfare 1 and 2,both were good but this time around,its really getting old.gimme a modern warfare successor,not a rehash from 2007 and 2009.gimme something excited about.i traded this game back to gamestop.im no fan boy either,i play all shooters..what a waste of $60.battlefield 3 is the way to go

    My biggest complaint is the sound and chat quality of the game. The fact that you CAN'T turn the music off, and CAN'T choose a surround sound (ex. 5.1 of headset) option. Then, there is the broken matchmaking, the broken spawns, and the fact that they insist on putting the pro camping attachments into the game (aka heartbeat sensors). If Infinityward just insists on keeping this attachmentMy biggest complaint is the sound and chat quality of the game. Ok I'm going to get off my soapbox now and say it really doesn't matter about anything in the game if the game just isn't playable. Please Please Please Infinityward address the sound issue. I'm not just speaking for myself here, we as your consumers have experienced the sound quality of black ops (the franchise's prequel) and the sound in MW3 is very much a couple of steps backwards.… Expand

    Yes it's call of duty, and that can only mean one thing... nothing has changed, it looks and plays exactly the same as all the other call of duty games.
    £80 for this with Elite (buggy as hell) subscription... waste of money and time.

    I feel like I has Déjà Vu. Whole game is same as it ever was, whole buildings was recycled from earliest CoD games. Physics? Nope. Destruction? Nope. Scripts? Hell yes, tons of scripts. I think This is worst "AAA" title of this year.

    The multiplayer on MW3 (which is what we buy it for after all) is dreadful. Lazy, uninspiring maps that are all lazy rehashes of old COD maps. Interchange for example, is so similar to underpass that you can't believe that they could get away with it. There isn't a single stand out map, and they're all far too frantic, with no possibility of tactics or team play.

    I'm very disappointed with modern warfare 3, this should have been a 1200msp dlc expansion pack.
    I gave the game a 1 because a lot of the annoying perks/killstreaks/weapons were removed.
    Nothing new here, critics seem to be afraid to give an honest opinion/score, I hope the devs and publisher read our reviews and get the hint.

    When we talk about games, our first word is that it is enjoyable. MW3 is not an enjoyable game in all forms , though maybe the campaign, but it doen't even reach the quality of previous games . The multiplayer is the same repetitive lone wolf stat hunter we've have played since the time CoD 4.     I run this game on a 1080i HD screen, and the graphics, honestly look cartoony to me, there's a sepia/beige overtone to almost every map, and the entire game just looks... off. The guns come off as rough, bulky and just plain ugly, with about 6 of them in each category. The attachments while varied(For this game) look the same on every gun, I.E. My ak47 red dot looks exactly like every other red dot scope this adds to a bulky SMG, in the middle of my line of sight and it's ugly!
    The maps themselves feel and play very weird, I mean it's like they wanted to get rid of camping but instead, made a game where the only way to play well is to camp like there's no tomorrow. You're consistently getting shot in the back and, when you're not you're getting sniped. The respawning is horrible, I've literally respawned next to an opponent in almost every match and when playing hardcore this creates moments when you're waiting to respawn more then you're playing the game. So while it seems like they tried to lessen camping, it made the need for camping even greater. Not to mention the fat that these maps are so... Narrow, there are barely any open places (think nuketown). And my biggest complaint is that they all look the same Cluttered with some destroyed vehicle sitting in the middle of the field sprinkle some sepia here, or add snow there, boom done. It's like being punched over and over again.
    I compare this game to black ops because I played Black ops multiplayer a lot more then other COD Multiplayer, and in black ops there were a ton of guns, a ton of camos for your gun, and better yet the guns looked different, I knew what the hell the commando looked like (and thought it was cool as **** too, a circle gun? **** YES!) I knew what the AK looked like, the famas the galil, within days of playing I could tell every assault rifle apart from others... In Mw2... I mean 3, They all look the same, with some black handle sticking out of them. the biggest variation is the Ak47 which looks (Slightly) different from most other guns. There is very little camo variation (WHYISTHIS?)

    Massive connection problems and glitches
    Spec ops is not Zombies, will never be Zombies and should stop trying to be zombies. (I don't understand why they don't just add in zombies too...)
    There's something off in the aiming, I'll be using a sniper rifle across the map (yes i snipe, because I have to) and have someone dead to rights, shoot and miss, how do i miss your chest? and then get quckscoped in the face... The perks... I personally do not like any of the perks...

    Always cliche, too many so-called explosion completely lost freshness, there is no innovation, no fun at all, has been too lazy to say COD, no innovation waiting to hell, I do not know what people are so boring to play this game.

    For Shame...rehashing items for COD4 and reusing them in MW3. This just goes to show that like Guitar Hero, this franchise is going to go down the same road of more of the same with a new paint job. If you want to play a MW game, stick with COD4 or Black Ops. No need to waste your money on this one.

    Basically a re-packaging of MW2 with very slight differences, i got the game on release date and within 2 hours of playing i wanted to trade it in. Infinity ward should be ashamed of this lazy attempt at a game, its really just recycled gameplay that's going to be spewed out year after year and you're paying £40 for it. If you really want to play it i would advise renting it

For such a derivative title, it should NOT be selling for 60 dollars. It's worth maybe about 40 dollars, including all of this year's DLC map packs for free. The game looks terrific from a graphics and sound stand point, but the gameplay is ancient and its design problems legion. Personally, I think all of this year's military themed FPS games kind of suffer from this, and if developers don't want to come up with anything new, then fine. Just don't charge full price.     The same regurgitated brain dead shooter as always. Infinite re-spawns and absolutely nothing new. They may have upped the graphics slightly but fall far short of Battlefield. You may as well stick with MW2 and not waste your cash on this dead end of a franchise.

    I created an account JUST to rate this game. MW3 is simply additional DLC and adds no value for gamers. There is no great leap or advancement in the style or game play, no new engine to wow us with graphics. Save your money

I've logged onto to black ops with 400,000 on and I don't lag. accept the fact that you made a bad game. admit it. now is the time to redeem yourselves and patch the game up. and please do so in a timely manner. there should be staff working around the clock to solve these issues. if the masses have told you it's a bad game. then it is a bad game.

Inevitably this happened a year later with black ops which was pretty much a clone of all that had been done before. After all this nonsense we hoped for a glimmer, modern warfare 3...a game which we all hoped would live up to the legacy. Unfortunately all modern warfare 3 really is is and exact replica of all that made up modern warfare 1 and 2. Nothing truly original was added to the experience. Activision has gotten all kinds of greedy. Forcing out games yearly at a full retail price knowing full well they are selling an unworthy product...not taking into account whether or not the consumer is getting what they paid for. The fact that the fans will buy it is apparently enough to justify tossing together some explosions and new maps and putting a new number on the end. All I ask is why? I am not a fan boy of one gaming device or the other, or one gaming series or another, just someone who doesn't understand why this is not only acceptable to you fans, but you will actually defend the games quality. Nothing is truly different about this game then the other major call of duty releases every year since 2007, nothing was stopping them from releasing small packages, more maps, more modes...nothing. Instead they put together not an inferior product, but a slap in the face. All of this has been done before. I've bought this before. You've bought this before. Before you think of buying this garbage and support these publishers who think it's ok to take advantage of loyal fans...think of what you could do to force them to make a modern warfare game that truly lives up to the standards of todays games. I just want people to realize that the graphics are outdated, story still generic, game play rough, sound poor, and multiplayer virtually unchanged not because they can't but because they wont.     Wish I didn't have to pay 60 bucks for this game. It's the same game, which isn't bad, but I don't feel like I got my money's worth. Fun to play along side with your friends online, but then it doesn't look as smooth anymore.

    I really dislike this game because they brought everything i hated in mw2 back. I really good at this, i have a 2.60 k/d but i still hate it because it takes no skill playing it.

    Before i begin my actual review of MW3, I don't understand why people hate the game simply because it's similar to previous call of duty's, or because it looks the same. MW2 was a great looking game, so why is it a problem if they use the same engine that already looks and feels great to begin with? If it isn't broke, don't fix it. That being said, I'm only going to review the multiplayer version of the game since that's the only reason people buy it... MW3 is by far the worst COD to date, not because of how it looks or how original it may or may not be, but simply because of the core mechanics of the game itself. First off, if a game developer calls a game a First Person Shooter, and you can do well in the game without firing a gun once, as far as I, or any other fan of the FPS genre is concerned, the game is broken. The knife has always plagued the COD series as the most frustrating way to die, and although IW *claimed* to have fixed panic knifing, it still makes no sense to bring a gun to a knife fight. They basically took 5 ft. out of the 10 ft. commando lunge and said knifing was fixed.
    My biggest issue with MW3 by far is the fact that IW insists on rewarding bad gameplay, i.e. rewarding people for being bad at the game. This is shown in many different features in the game, the most obvious being deathstreaks, which succeed only in punishing players who are actually successful in the game, and give bad players no reason to actually become better. The spawn system is another example of this; the spawns in MW3 are not bad, they are non-existent. You will literally spawn in and watch an enemy walk by directly in front of you, or in my case, the other way around. How can IW justify spawns that are beyond broken? This was done on purpose, with the intent of once again rewarding people for dying by giving them free kills, and punishing the players who stay alive with free deaths. Aside from the spawns, there are many ways to die in MW3 which aren't your fault by any means, such as instant death from the omnipresent predator missile/stealth bomber. What can you possibly learn from watching helplessly as a missile is dropped on your head randomly?
    IW definitely decided to take a different angle on the map design in MW3, by not only making the maps significantly smaller, but by adding as many obstacles, exploding vehicles, exploding barrels, trees, crates, etc. as possible without severely impeding movement around the map. Simply put, the maps in MW3 were poorly thought out, many of them being completely unplayable.
    Modern Warfare was always known for having reliable hit detection, but in MW3, hit detection and latency issues are far worse than Black Ops ever was. If you want to play a FPS where when you shoot someone they die shortly after, look elsewhere. Although there are many other flaws with the game I could mention, they aren't worth mentioning compared to the aforementioned issues.
    Although MW3 is fundamentally broken as a multiplayer game, the MP still deserves at least a 2/10. The game looks great, and the controls are smooth, fast, and accurate; which is why COD is as successful as it is. Also, one aspect of the game IW does well in is the weapons; the guns are all very fun to use and have their own unique characteristics to them.
    In conclusion, MW3 is a game that has a lot of potential and at times can be either the funnest game you have ever played, or, more often than not, the most frustrating.    … Expand

    In this clone i haven't really felt any difference from COD4 and MW2, yes definitely they have changed the maps, and yes they have added some new stupid images and perks however this isn't the game.. Its funny that the critics have voted the game so high, while the majority of people didnt do that, this say that the critics are not fair or not gamers.

    I like MWF family and i really hope that they will fall down like Battlefield, and i hope they will not stay drunk with the fact that many people bought the game, we buy it because we like it, that doesn't mean we will continue paying for the same game...    … Expand

Between the 3 games I can easily say MW2 was the best for online and offline play, followed by CoD4 which carved the way for new fps gamers. The weapon loadouts seem random and rushed, the sniper rifles are just horribly weak(usually have to 2 shot), the assault rifles have an insane recoil on them, and the other guns are just not nearly as fun as MW2's. Not played much of the campaign but not really impressed there either, extremely rushed gameplay, very dull and dreary locations/maps. It's obviously so easy that people have already prestiged at least once since it's release a mere 9 days ago. Due to how much players have overburnt on the game, many of the new buyers can't even attempt to compete with the slow, underpowered starting guns. I've also played Bfbc2, and to anyone who thinks that was better, you need your eyes checked… Expand

    Only thing different from mw2 is the story and changes in killstreaks; changes are more like mw2 map pack that costs 75% more. Developer will stop support in 11 months. Not a worthy sequel.

    Its a 60 dollar map pack. The graphics are simply poor compared to what games are looking like now a days. The game lay is largely the same. An activision refuses to do anything about the unsportsmanlike conduct in the multiplayer

    4 hour singleplayer campaign. Bland, flavorless multiplayer maps. You already played this game two years ago. This was a blatant attempt to produce as little new content as possible and still pass it off as a new game. True colors, Activision.

    This game gets a 1 from me, there appeared to be no ambition in it being made and while it did engross me a little bit there was no character development anywhere for anybody, Sandman could have been such a cool ice cold character, the two other delta force guys could have been awesome too, but they were all just bland characterless shells moving you through the game.

    When you compare that to the squad in MW1 when you are defending the farm desperately, or MW2 when you are being commanded by Foley, when Ghost takes control on top of the tower in Contingency you get a real Call of Duty moment - or shall we call that an 'Infinity Ward before they fired the entire creative and development team moment'?

    Sledgehammer did a pathetic job at making this a Call of Duty game, they did nothing new, they did nothing ambitious, they were given the biggest game to come along for years and they blew it with bad writing, bad ideas (or no ideas at all) and some truly stupid scenes, mirroring a scene once is a good idea, doing it 4-5 times in the same game is just insanity.

    It gets a 1 because the voice acting is not as much of an atrocity as the rest of this game, the script is terrible, but the actors did the best they possibly could.    … Expand

Maps are too similar, with the exception of maybe 2 or 3. 90% recycled material. They even recycled player emblems! I wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking but c'mon.     I brought this when it came out the hardened edition £89 I played the storyline thought it was great but soon as I went online I didn't like it as it hasnt changed I have Battlefiled 3 an love it as it has completely change I wouldn't waste your money your money on mw3

    Played CoD2? nothing new here. Everything is the same. Even the graphic engine. CoD2 was good, but thin one is pure crap. The campaign can be finished in 4 hours with terrible story and the same repetitive strategy in every stage.

    Very disappointing to dedicated fans, it is modern warfare 2 with more lag and still little offline support such as bots in black ops. It is also very frustrating that the Devs are always making empty promises. (Second chance, Bots, etc) The game will likely only appeal to first time players of the CoD series.

    I wanted to like this game, but it is absolutely horrible. The multiplayer is broken, and the lag compensation is a joke! Stop being cheap EA and deploy some game servers!!! There is nothing new here, it's recycled MW2.

    Stupid enemies, weird characters, worst weapon's sound (Sometimes I was turning sound off) and awful soundtrack again proves how developers care about players.

    There also a Spec Ops with old Mission and new Survival Mode. But both of them suck ! All Survival maps and weapons + attachments (NOT ALL !!!) from Multiplayer. And almost every missions in Spec Ops are maps from SP Company but with different tasks (sometimes map is reversed). So all that developers said about Spec Ops before release b******t !

    Now it's time for multiplayer. All what we get is two new modes, new camouflages, perks, kill and death strikes + new weapons and attachments (I didn't count maps because they always add them). Multiplayer is so unbalanced - almost everybody camps, using akimbo weapons or doing jump kills. New kill streaks so stupid. It's really easy to kill Juggernaut, and with vehicles almost impossible to kill somebody (Because everybody uses stupid perks). For unknown reason they made 3 kill streak packages. Assault (After death kill streak points reset), Support (After death kill streak points don't reset) and Specialist (You earning perks instead of usual rewards + after death kill streak points reset). What I liked is Weapon Levels. You're earning XP for weapons by killing enemies with it, then earning new Weapon Levels. With each level you unlock attachments, camouflages or proficiencies (perks for weapons). And there one last new thing - Prestige Shop. When you get new Prestige you get Prestige token. These tokens you can spend on unlocking gear or double XP or new icons and titles. That's all new in MW3 Multiplayer. So it's worst mix of all previous CoD games with few new things.

    Unfortunately it's old good CoD 4: MW with all new "awesome" c**p for retarded. 2 - 3 cool trailers and Activision will get lots of money. So don't buy this game for yourself or friend or your greatest enemy because it's just a HUGE waste of your time and money.    … Expand

Other than that, the weapons are horrible, the graphics have not been improved since the original Modern Warfare, and there is no option to adjust the volume of the music or toggle auto-aim on and off. The campaign is the same thing over and over again as usual. The theater in multiplayer is a joke. Half the time the editing you do is not saved correctly at all, and every time you play a video it changes completely. I wouldn't even call this game an expansion pack like some people. I thought Black Ops was a step back from World at War, but this takes the prize. Modern Warfare 2 was 100% better in every aspect. I can't believe I wasted $60 when Battlefield 3 and Skyrim came out around the same time. Save yourself the time and money, don't buy this horrible game, and if you made the same mistake I did, trade it in ASAP.… Expand

    Before I get into this game, I'll let you know some of my personal stats on it so you know that I'm not just some disgruntled child who is upset that his K/D is .5.
    My K/D ratio is 3.30, W/L is 1.87, I've gotten about 30-40 MOABs, and I've played about 3 days worth of time. So this is coming from a guy who is able to do quite well in this game.


    Multiplayer-wise, the game makes you want to kill yourself. Typically, I don't get upset with video games, I think I might have gotten upset at MW2 a few times after it was hacked to a pulp, and a little bit at Black Ops in the first few weeks after the release for the bad spawn system, but this game takes the cake when it comes to frustrating.


    Hit detection, now months after release, is still atrocious. I cannot even begin to describe how much lag has been put into this game. It's as if Infinity Ward purposefully put lag into the game.


    The maps are horrible, the setting for each of them is, 'Ok, this was a place, and now there was a battle here and there's clutter all along the ground.' Because of the lag, I'm constantly getting stuck on some random piece of rubble that is on the ground.


    Continuing on, the concept of putting 4+ UAV killstreaks into this game is something that is beyond me, all that the Support Strike Package does is ensure that everyone is forced to either use Assassin and Blind Eye and camp, or to try and use something other than those and get spammed to death by UAVs. It slows the game down, and it isn't right that someone can go 18 kills and 50 deaths, and earn an EMP killstreak through the Support Strike package. The killstreaks in this game are in too much of an abundance, and that turns this game into a total festival of killstreaks.


    Now onto deathstreaks, oh yes, if you get killed however many times in a row, without getting a kill you get certain 'perks' to help you get kills. One of which is 'Dead Man's Hands', where you will go prone and detonate a C4 charge, killing anyone close to you. Sound cool? Not if you are about to get a MOAB and you're on the receiving end of it. Another one is 'Final Stand', where you go prone and are able to shoot your automatic weapon. Sound fair? Not until you are killed because someone had this on at the time. In keeping with the tone of the game, there are only few weapons that are worthwhile to use, and because of the fact that killstreaks dominate this game, even more than they did in MW2, everyone brings out their stealth classes with silencers. So now, everyone is using Blind Eye, Assassin, and a silenced weapon, because if you don't, you're going to get wrecked by killstreaks.


    The point of this rant is to tell you that, even for someone who does well in this game, that it is extremely frustrating to play. With the oversaturation of killstreaks, particularly UAVs, Counter UAVs, Advanced UAVs, EMPs, which requires everyone to use defensive perks and play a slow-paced game, it really forces people to sit in corners.


    So, if you're one who likes to actually move around on a map when you play multiplayer, you won't enjoy MW3, but if you're a person who enjoys sitting in the same corner with a stealth class every game, go on ahead and pick this game up.


    I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. Ever. Purchase Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 4, or Black Ops, but stay away from this game at all costs.    … Expand

    Secondly, support class killstreaks.... I mean really. If you die it still counts towards your killstreak and EMP's are on that side???? Wow way to totally and utterly destroy any fun in having an Osprey gunner, AC-130, or hell even a Sentry Gun when someone can just EMP the damn thing.

    Thirdly, Activision, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer or whoever the hell is regulating this game seems to love to nerf any weapon that people seem to be using the most all under the false pretense of "balance" -- Why is it so hard to just follow the successful template that MW2 left us with?

    Fourthly, the lack of a true form of Scavenger is a pure slap in the face. What is the point of just having more bullets; where's the full package the grenades, the equipment? Fifthly, the bland graphics, unenthusiastic gameplay, lack of a team based strategy aside from the entire team being rambo, the rabid camp supported maps, and overall game functionality leaves this game unbearable and unimpressive to any hardcore gamer or any gamer that has played the previous MW and MW2.

    The ONLY good points about this game are the ease of clan organization and Survival Mode.

    I give this game a 1 out of 10 if even that.

    Same same same... Its actually pretty ridiculous that CoD can keep on pumping games with same guns, very similar story-lines and people just keep on buying it (only bought World at War and CoD 4 and this on PS3). I felt being ripped off that I've bought this game and was stupid enough to hope that this time maybe they will change, after so many versions came out but I was wrong.

    This horror drudgery Shouldn't even be in call of duty. From the Boring Campaign to the horrible multiplayer maps to the desperate attempt of the spec ops mode, there isn't really much to say here. Me? Im a cod fan, but that's going to change if Activition, Treyarch, and Infinity ward, doesn't start learning how to make games. Or at the very least, make something new.

The singleplayer is esentially the same from MW2 Like the last "Die Hard" movie, it's all about explosions and firefights. Predictable plot twists and not-so-good storytelling ruin the campaign. Killing enemies that lack the brain to take cover and just run into your bullets makes the campaign boring and leaves a deja-vu effect if you played MW2. Now, with the star of the game, multiplayer. In my opinion, MW2 added a lot of stuff that ruined the game, like deathstreaks and a nuke. The only thing fixed in MW3 are the grenade launcher's blast radius. Terrible weapon balance, overpowered perks and even worse map design with lots of camping spots (yes, campers are back), terrible spawns and bad hit detection. Visual glitches and some unfixed issues (like teammates shoving you) are still present. Oh, and now the nuke is called M.O.A.B. but it doesn't end the match, just kills everyone. However, it's still a stupid killstreak. Overall, MW3 has the same graphics, same weapons with other name and same problems MW2 had. Do not buy this 60-bucks expansion pack.… Expand

    its a no buy. simply said, the game could easily put players in a state of claustrophobia with all of the close corner multiplayer maps. this is the worst of the call of duty's i've played. everything is bunched together on the map.

    Game had such high expectations. I atleast expected to enjoy it. Campaign is fun but forgettable. spec ops is fun but cheap. the Multiplayer is FAIL. **** maps. **** gameplay. gfx fail. sound design fail. just its a solid piece of **** well back to BF3 even though that game had a flakey campaign atleast the multiplayer of that one rocks.

    New mw2 map pack .There was alot of hype building up to this game, being the proceedor of both Modern Warfare's. Played the first few missions of the campaign. The graphics disappointed me, and it was just the same as any other Call of Duty campaign. The series is getting very old now.

    It's just MW2 with a patch and a free map pack. Had this game had a graphics upgrade and improvements, it would get a good rating. Call of Duty 4 was great at the time, but nothing has changed.

    Well I thought I'd buy the game in hopes it wasn't going to be another over-priced expansion pack...looks like I was wrong, but at least they threw in the bugs for free. I just wish major review sites had the balls to call this series out for things they'll rip others apart for because I'm returning the game tomorrow and I hope the rest of you do to.

    This isn't a sequel, it is basically a $60 DLC where your stats get reset, and random elements of the game are broken, because it was made by significantly less talented developers (Bobby Kotick gets to pay them less that way) Enjoy your McVideoGame

    Game supports only unranked dedicated servers and by default server browser is hidden. Users must activate server browser from their settings. Game itself is almost the same old COD, no reason to release a new game. They could have released these maps for earlier COD games. Can't seriously recommend this to anyone.

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
