To the people wondering if Modern Warfare 3 would take a hit due to the 40+ staff of Infinity Award leaving, look no further. The answer sadly, is yes. It has taken a huge hit. This review is primarily focused at the multiplayer (which I have loved both (COD 4: MW & MW2).

Unfortunate to say MW3 is nowhere near as good as the previous games in terms of multiplayer, with the major drawback being the map design. With 16 maps included on the disc you'd think there would be atleast a dozen of good quality maps, instead you're met with 16 small, maze ridden maps that have no flow whatsoever. In my opinion there are about 3-5 bearable maps, the rest are so poor even the maps from Black Ops outshine. I seriously think when the **** hit the fan at IW all the map designers left because the 16 on offer are truly awful. Pretty much all buildings are locked out and everything is basically flat, there are no areas to cover your six and it's completely geared toward the Rambo COD gamers that run around like blue arsed flies shooting and running constantly.

It is a severe disappointment,. I was expecting this game to not match the quality of the previous two games but even then I was still majorly let down.

This is the worst COD MP I have ever played, and that includes COD2, COD4, W@W, MW2 & Black Ops.

This is a completely truthful opinion from a big fan of the series, unfortunately it seems that it is now time to leave it for dead (or atleast go back to the awesome MW2).

Seriously, the maps are truly awful. I am selling this game as soon as I have finished the campaign.

This is a series where you could previously see at least a little effort on the part of the developers, starting with the wonderful CoD 4 that revolutionized the industry and moving onto Modern Warfare 2, which improved a lot of things in the multiplayer aspect and was a great title. Infinity Ward really dropped the ball here, get this game used if you can, it's worth used, never new. Expand

This is a game that despite its merits, fails to recapture the glory of its predecessors MW1 & MW2. This is focused on the campaign because single-player still matters and it's used frequently in trailers and demos. This is focused on the campaign because single-player still matters and it's used frequently in trailers and demos. The gunplay is solid for the most part, there's plenty of variety in forms of gunner sequences, and the campaign set pieces are still kickass as always. But the story just tries to hard to copy its predecessors and fails with writing that would make even Kojima scream. The story copies its predecessorHow and why the hell would Russia simultaneously invade all of Europe? What did Europe do and how can the Russian army have the manpower for the invasion. Also, if the Russian president is flying over for a peace treaty, who the hell gave the order to invade Europe? Add to that the shallow and token attempt at shock and awe. In the game a child is blown up, but it's so shallow and token. What's the purpose? War and Terrorism are bad? The nuke in MW1 and airport shooting already proved that point. Even those shock moments have some meaning; the MW1's nuke caused general shepard to spark a war in MW2 and the airport shooting in MW2 lead to the Russian invasion in MW3. It's a cliched and poorly designed story that outdoes the neo-con fantasies of tom clancy and john milius. Sure some guy can say it's supposed to be like a michael bay movie or that multiplayer is the real meat. But the COD series have always campaigns that raised the stakes and stunned millions. Given that kick-ass FPSs like Bioshock and HL2 have shown that shooters can tell great stories without compromising high octane shooting gameplay, this feels a bit underwhelming. If IW and Sledgehammer make a new COD game, they have to do better. Expand

The single player campaign was pretty bad, while the online multiplayer was a mess. The storyline was (in my opinion) filled with boring characters, and average set pieces (the Eiffel Tower faling down was good, i'll admit, but there were just too many explosions throughout the whole campaign) and dull, grey environments (I know it's a war game, but even the cities in which the story takes place in aren't grey and dull). It was just a forgettable campaign. The multiplayer was the worst experience I had with the game, since most of the games I had joined were either extremely laggy, filled with screaming little kids, or the game not letting me in the match at all. The maps were also really forgettable. Seeing that i'm not a big fan of recent FPS', this review might seem a bit biased. Honestly, if nearly all gaming magazines and websites didn't constantly advertise it, I would even say it was rushed. So thats my opinion, thats its just a forgettable, mediocre game. Expand

(Hint: think about sailing on the river of a major city, with lots of activity and effects around you it looks grand!). I think the story is more sober. It continues on MW2, but the motivations are more exposed to the player. For example, there are high-importance hostages involved and the player is closer to the centre of the story. The multiplayer has at least one new game mode that makes it more interesting than MW2. 'Kill Confirmed' is a team deathmatch where kills only count if someone gets to the killed enemy and collects a 'proof' that the kill happened. This introduces an element of strategy and intelligence, because the bodies could be protected by enemies, and there's a payoff if you get hit right after you collected a proof or maybe two. You can also cancel enemy kills by reaching team member bodies. I thought this game was a cool improvement on MW2, but only as long as you're looking for more of the same, and EXACTLY that. Expand

I have friends that literally buy each coming COD for the sole reason that the next one will have new guns, perks, and maps. No care for plot or anything other than the multiplayer. Not that this isn't a good game since I've played a good chunk with friends...but it is a huge step down from Black Ops. The only thing 'fun' here is Survival Mode.

The campaign of this game did not add as much as Modern Warfare 2 had in it, but it was a most satisfying way to end the trilogy. It went beyond my expectations, but not nearly as close as any other Call of Duty game did. The multiplayer of the game is a different story. I generally hated the multiplayer which is why I did not get far in the online ranks of the game. This here was the turning point to my thoughts about Modern Warfare 3. To me, there were simply too many people that took the game more serious than it needed to be, especially for a war game. If they were playing Battlefield 3, I could see why they would be taking it seriously, it has much more fast paced action to it, a breath taking view of modern and urban war, and the detail to the game is tremendous. Especially the jets they put in it, but I am not here to review Battlefield 3, and this is not a comparison and contrast essay. I am here to review a game that did not amuse me in the multiplayer field as much as any other Call of Duty game did. I don't recommend the game that much to people who can't stand others who whine entirely like the game is real, and start using foul language, especially kids that should not be cussing at their age. - Collin

Coming from Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, i bought this game on release in 2011 which high expectations to finish the epic campaign and play online again. What i got was something less, but still good.

The story of Modern Warfare 2 ends with Soap killing General Shephard, but getting mortally wounded in the process. Modern Warfare 3 opens with you playing as Yuri, the most contrived protagonist i've played in many games, protecting Price and Soap somewhere from Makarov's goons. The way this mission is written feels incredibly ridiculous, but is just a prelude of what is still to come.

The campaign doubles down on over the top set pieces, visiting exotic locations and introducing last minute conveniences to the story. Seriously, why didn't they hire the writer of Modern Warfare 2? It seems as if the writer of this story took all the pieces from the first two games, jammed them in and decided to make them all meaningless in the large picture. World War 3 is a nonsensical joke, as Russia decides to invade Europe... because the president was kidnapped by terrorist? Chemical attacks against large cities, killing thousands of innocents?? That doesn't make any sense!

You also play as a Delta Team with characters that have no distinct personality other than: 'Russia is bad, America is good.' Their deaths felt pointless, and i was rather laughing as the game tried to make this scene epic. Nice try, but you failed.

To summarize the story: I was disappointed by the weak, predictable ending, last minute characters and overblown scenes. I would give the campaign a 6/10, it's average.

However, Modern Warfare 3 shines brighter in its multiplayer and survival mode! Multiplayer is a step up from Modern Warfare 2, offering a more balanced PvP mode with fun weapons (trying out different weapons doesn't feel like a punishment) and a weapon leveling system. Community modes like Infected and Drop Zone were my favorite, offering a competitive mode without kill streaks and fun objectives.

The survival mode Is my cup of tea, testing me harshly to find the best tactics to survive as long as possible while scoring points and playing with friends. Although i had to play the most of it with random people, i had a lot of fun with this mode. Beware of the epic juggernauts!

Even though the campaign was a let down for me, i did end up enjoying the multiplayer and survival mode a lot. All together, i consider MW3 a good game, worthy of a 7/10.

Modern Warfare 3 is the third time the same game has been released, only with a few online changes that would prove little challenge to have released as DLC or a patch for the first game, and an even more absurd, generic plot ripped from a low budget action flick filled with painful cliches. It saddens me to see CoD do so well in an industry where a lot of hidden gems do not recieve such recognition, while they are ones who truly deserve it. Bad spawns, non-flowing maps are just a few of the problems this game has. Some of the minor problems that are not game breaking like the inability to run and reload not being able to jump walls that are no higher than my knee are silly little things but can be a nuisance at times. This game could have really been far superior with dedicated servers but hey why would Activision spend their hard earned money on such trivial things. I and many others are highly disapointed in this game. I am not going to listen to the pre-paid hype next year and will not be buying another FPS that doesn't have dedi servers again. Most expensive map pack ever made. CoD map packs are usually around $15, yet they somehow thought that tacking on a 5 hour SP campaign would be worth the extra $45. Looking at it strictly as an expansion to Modern Warfare 2? Its a fantastic stand alone expansion. Only thing I despise more than studios charging $60 for map pack expansions is the foolish consumers that gobble it up.

MW2 was the most fun in the series but issues arose and no one took care of them, if they continue to patch the game and take care of it, the multiplayer can be fun and I might change my position since my review is bogged down by a stale and ruined multiplayer. It can be fixed and brought to a 7.5 IMO. Expand

Good if you want to play private matches with friends, but other than that, don't bother on this.

Gameplay- Very repetitive, yet addicting to a certain degree. Graphics- Ok, but no real memorable scenes or arcitechture.

Sound- Effects are good, music is forgettable. Presentation- Story is taken too seriously and one death of a main character is not nearly as emotional as the game thinks it is. Basic FPS.

Very good if you have friends who can play with you, other than that, skip it.

The only saving grace is the campaign which I have loved since COD 4 and the spec ops survival mode which can become boring after several hours. As in any FPS game these days, you have a bunch of invincible teammates that do absolutely nothing unless in scripted events, and only die when the plot tells them to. Getting shot in the head during a cutscene kills them, but not two rockets to the face, a grenade, 78 knife slashes, and 17 bullets from a sniper rifle to the face(That is, if the game wouldn't give you a friendly fire warning. This statement about the cutscene applies to most FPS games these days.) Somehow, Only one Delta operator is capable of killing all the enemies. The rest just stand there shooting, getting stunned from the bullets, and shouting at you to get on the machinegun, do this, do that, do everything. Enemies seem to gang up on the player first, because if the player dies, game over. The player is the only mortal in a squad of immortals. And multiplayer? I found it boring. Expand

Since there was no engine change, the graphics remain pretty much the same as in MW2. The weapons are unbalanced (*cough* UMP *cough*). And ofcourse, you get the insane amount of tent pitchers that only a CoD game can provide (not to mention the boosters). The campaign I did somewhat enjoy, despite the occasional unseen death, or magic phasing of bullets through the enemy. I presumably scored it so highly out of some form of loyalty to Infinity Ward, trying to help them against some of the seemingly unfair reviews. I'm rather ashamed of having done this, and wanted to put things more on the level.

To take another look at this game, its certainly nothing special. While the Campaign of COD 4 was largely praised for its characters and setting. Its difficult to say the same here, simply playing along with the same recipe that just feels rather dated now, given its lack of change. But multiplayer is the main reason most are brought to Call of Duty, and it at seems a little more balanced in its gunplay following patches, something not shared by its predecessor. However, other issues quickly come to light. Odd choices such as the changes from Killstreaks to score streaks raise a number of issues. One such example is the stealth bomber, which can be earned quiet easily, due to being placed in the "support" section, meaning that the kills to obtain it compile even after death. This makes the bomber appear far to regularly, which is also far too offensive for its support namesake on many of the maps. Which brings me to another huge issue, the maps. Graphically their all rather unimpressive, largely just a series of drab, darkly hued buildings or rubble. Those that aren't marred by this issue instead of horrendous and unmemorable layouts that just don't live up to the experiences had on many of MW2's maps, such as "Afghan." When the maps are as bad as they are, its difficult to praise MW3's multiplayer at all.

Other than these points, the rest is largely standard fair, with a few new options to keep you busy. The cooperative spec ops mode adds a little more longevity with its survival and mission modes, but it feels rather tacked on given that it can only be played with two players, a particularly noticeable omission in the uninspired survival mode.

And that's all there really is to say. Its not particularly superior or inferior to other titles in the series. If you enjoyed them and want more, it'll largely give you what your after, but if you've always disliked the series, this certainly wont change that.

As you can see my time played in MW2 is 993 hours and Black Ops is 461 hours.

MW3 feels like a rehashed MW2. I am sorry for the people giving this a 10. I hope it's on the single player because multi player is horrible. Sure there is a lot of detail given in design but 75% of the maps are too small. Most of the maps don't allow for multiple roles (sniper , support, assault) as they are all run and gun being so small.

They even made the game easier by giving some of the old perks as gun stats. Assault rifles now have FMJ and 2 Weapon Attachments as a gun stat rather than a Perk slot.

However, they did do a few things right. Making Blast Shield not lose your vision like they did in MW2 so people can now avoid grenade spam and noob tube better. Also, I do like how they separated out the kill streaks into 3 catagories.

But overall I feel like this is a reskinned MW2. Most of the titles are the same as are the emblems and achievements. There are slight improvements to graphics. And hacks for MW2 work in MW3 so they were there the very first day.

This is a PC review. I liked the single player campaign in MW2 and a friend of mine who did the campaign said he liked it. I'll probably enjoy it as well.

Also co-op is a joke as it's a kill waves of enemies survival. The MW2 co-op was 1000x better.

And here's MW3, the story is even more convoluted, and while the action is as always blisteringly intense, without any kind of story that makes us care about who these characters are and why they are doing what they do, it feel shallow and empty and I struggled to find the energy to fight through the waves of enemies. The game is linear and while I accept that a lot of great games are heading down this linear route, the difference is that in a good game the story drives the game along, it's part of the set pieces and both co-exist. MW3 is basically set pieces interrupted by action film clichés and drivel. The multiplayer is as frantic and fun as ever and while this is the games saving grace, it's not enough to erase the disappointing single player from my memory.

Wait for the price to drop or buy it second hand for the multiplayer portion (who'd have though Activision would not take the now popular "on-line pass" money spinner)

All the negative spam is pretty unfair. If Battlefield didn't exist this would be far and away the best FPS period. But it's not. MW, MW2, and now MW3 are all very similar, as a matter of fact, if MW3 had just been DLC it would be considered the greatest DLC pack EVER.

Well they should be, the game in my opinion is very well done, however since its release date the COD elite service (which i paid extra for by buying the hardened package) is still not functioning properly and the other game bugs, Ie. online game crashing, voice chat issues and problems with people staying in groups when entering lobbies. Thier excuse of "we didnt think it would be that popular" and that their servers were flooded is a joke, they pre sold 9 million copies! I personally am tired of buying games that companies make 100s of millions of dollars on that when released are not ready. So i hope people take notice and come here and give these game developers the poor scores they deserve until they fix thier product and release a finished and polished product that we are paying for. Something to think about... would we sit there and take it if we bought a brand new car, to find out that when we picked it up that the engine would just "lock up" while driving or that the windshield wipers would not work and accept being told by the dealers that they are working for on a patch that should fix it soon. Gamers stand up and let these companies know we Love Games but hate being ripped of by not getting the working games we pay for. Expand

And now they are back in MW3, ALREADY!!?? But the question is will they do something about them this time? Why is there no voting system in the loobys? It seems developers just don't care about anything but the money, because these problems are the same in MW2 and have been from the beginning. A game they have had a years to fix by now.

I was looking forward to it, it was one of my highest anticipated games since GTA 4 back in 2008. Infinity Ward really took a hit when 40+ people left, MW3 is the result of it. While I'm not saying it was bad, I would prefer the last 2 modern warfares over this.

The story was pretty good, the new guy Yuri is like Soap was back in COD4. It was also pretty touching the way the events leading up to Soap's death transpired, but the ending was the sweet revenge we all were waiting for.

Overall, great game, good graphics and other stuff. It's just too repetitive, Thats all.

This game expects everyone on earth to be big Michael Bay fans with the endless explosions, gassing of London and being pseudo-killed an uncountable amount of times in a helicopter. I will not argue that the multiplayer is bad, because it is good, the developers are just lazy and added about 10% more stuff into the game. All the kilstreaks are still there, you don't get any new attatchments, the leveling-up system with the weapons is poor at best and you will find yourself so bored with it after 4 hours (even after finishing the short campaign) that you will sell it on Ebay. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Modern Warfare 3 is the new installment of the call of duty series, it has its positive and negatives like most games. First for the ups, they again have a very nice story in the campaign aspect and the spec ops comes back, which in my opinion is fun and perfect for playing with a friend. Also a new game mode is introduced in the spec ops aspect: the survival mode which is really not that bad, and kind of fun but gets boring after a while. In my opinion i think that activision didn't let the survival mode reach its full potential by only allowing 2 people to play since these things are best when played with friends. Now for the core of call of duty: the multiplayer, this also has its ups and downs. The weapons are more or less like always with the exception of the machine pistols, when paired with akimbo these pistols are overpowered even after they were patched to make them less powerful. There are also some other weapons that are overpowered like the chinese weapon, the Type 95. Something new that has been implemented is the proficiency system and the levels for the weapons. This is something i actually quite enjoyed since it lets you customize your gun further. The new Kill Streak system actually also pleased me a lot in that there is different kill streaks for different types of players, for the more aggressive and for the ones that like to be more tactic and defend the objectives. The MOAB i think was a nice addition to the series since you don't need to equip it, its there if you get it. Also its nice that it doesn't finish the game and instead gives double XP to the people in that game. The prestige tokens was a nice addition but its nothing major, except maybe for the fact that you can unlock things so that you don't have to wait to level up to have them. Now for the downsides: The spawn systems are just horrible, the other day i was playing headquarters and i just spawned in front of an enemy player at the beginning of the game!. Also the overpowered weapons which i mentioned before. The knifing system is pretty horrible since some times when you knife someone the knife seems like it rebounds from the player. I have mixed feelings about elite since it is something else that activision is doing to get more money from us but at the same time you get the map packs before the people in your console and also with a small discount and some additional services. Overall it is basically just another call of duty with some improvements in the multiplayer and different maps. Expand

MW3 is not a 0, or a 1, or anything on the lower end. Infinity Ward put time into this game, and while they may not have reinvented the wheel, they tweaked the things that worked for the first two games to make them BETTER. And I, for one, am completely okay with that.

first the single player experience, taking place in Africa Europe and the US the game really takes you for a ride as you play the american delta force and the rogue British task force from the previous game, as far as characters go they are all pretty shallow and except the few one liners and "chargetake cover" shouts your interaction with them is kept to a minimum until the end of the game, the only note worthy character is captain price but after developing him for 4 games its not really a surprise.

the very loose story is basically an excuse to take you through some really amazing set pieces, you will have the standard call of duty mash up of airstrikes and rail shooters like the last games which can be good at times but they feel redundant most of the time and even feel like they are slowing the pace of the game, for example you have a level in paris where you take control of a AC-130 and the control will rotate between your character plane taking you out of the action seeing how using the AC-130 isn't challenging like the fight that takes place on the ground at the same time.
if you played the last 2 games a closure is nice but if you are looking for a deep story shooter you better wait for something else.

Of course the focus of the game is the multiplayer, it didn't change much from what iv'e see they added a new game mode or 2 but nothing groundbreaking again the multiplayer is solid, it was good in the previous games and it retains the same standards here, the multiplayer is very fast paced and "arcady" like iv'e come to expect from COD.

like i said it a solid game if you like the previous games this is pretty much more of the same for better or worst.

It actually played more like a checklist for a focus group. Sniper levels? Check. Vehicle sections? Check. "Controversial" moment? Check (poorly, I might add). The narrative lacks the focus, cohesion, professionalism, and sheen that the second game had (the watermark for the Modern Warfare franchise), and is over much, much too quickly. The levels are also something of an eyesore, with a nearly monochromatic color palate (save for a batch of welcome blue skies) and blurry, pixelated textures. Sadly Modern Warfare 3 is basically Modern Warfare 2 with 16 new maps, a few new killstreaks, modes, perks, and leveling mechanic. This may seem like a substantial amount of new content, but is it really worth $60? In my opinion Call of Duty has taken a turn onto the sports genre road. Theres a new one every year, with just a few new additions to warrant a new release. Now the Modern Warfare campaign for me was always just so-so. The huge set pieces and high octane action are straight out of a Bay film. But really the huge explosions and crazy action can't really hide the badly written, and sometimes confusing, story. Spec Ops was first introduced to us in Modern Warfare 2 and im glad to say its back. For me Spec Ops was more entertaing and rewarding playing with a friend, then raging at a other people online. They have also introduced a new mode, Survial, which isn't at all original, bascially a horde mode, where waves upon waves of enemies came at you. This mode is being implemented into almost every FPS now a days, its fun yes, but i would like to see something new for a change. The graphics haven't really changed much, if at all, from Modern Warfare 2. A quick glimpse at a screen with Modern Warfare 3, could easily be mistaken for its older counterpart. The soundtrack is nothing to special, but it does have its moments. There are many rehashed noises when firing guns, reloading, etc. but thats to be expected. Overall this addition to the Call of Duty franchise feels more like a shallow expansion than a full fledged game. Activision is going to end up running Call of Duty into the ground with these yearly outings (Guitar Hero/Tony Hawk), hopefully upcoming entries into the franchise can make a fresh start into something that has become very stale in the past years. Multiplayer; Doesn't rewrite the formula, instead focusing on Improving on what is already present

Infinity ward has used the same formula since COD4. Afraid to step outside the box and come out with somenthing fresh, they stick to the same formula. If you think about it and do the math your getting about twenty new maps which if it was "new dlc for mw2" would be about $75 plus if each map pack had 5 maps so thats one way to look at it. What killed the COD franchise? Atrocious multiplayer map design. But when it appears that the new IW and Sledgehammer took a cue from Medal of Honor (2010) in their multiplayer creation instead of carefully constructing balanced, strategic maps, you better believe fans will be irate because that's solely why people play COD: MULTIPLAYER. That is how nearly five years ago why this franchise became so well-known and adorned: innovative features in their multiplayer game. It is so apparent that the new people in the MW franchise had no experience in creating playable maps. It's so bad that even Black Ops's maps shine in comparison. I remember hearing that these maps were specifically designed to eliminate campers. You just have to laugh and scratch your head considering the various rooms and narrow corridors noobz can fork out. The quality of maps gradually declined after each subsequent installment. I think if the new developers want to redeem themselves from their ill-fated multiplayer design, they need to analyze and learn from the genius of IW 1.0 and understand what it takes to make truly competitive maps in order to make a QUALITY map pack instead of spray and pray mazes--because that's essentially what the new maps are! I seriously doubt BF3 fanboys are flaming this board too. It's really that bad, people. If the newbie developers, and Activision for that matter, want to continue the franchise, they better take a cue from the original IW and NOT TREYARCH in terms of multiplayer maps. Expand

The campaign has only disappointed me. I expected more, seems to replay MW2. But the cooperative is fantastic, especially the survival mode. The multiplayer is ok, is not the best, not the worst but I was expecting something different ... I hate to repeat myself but it seems MW2 ...

The best part about this is all the whiny BF3 fanboys crying about how it got rated higher than BF3 by the critics... Pathetic-- get over it. MW3 is like eating Pizza. If you eat it every night it gets old. Problematic Mic support right off the bat and unexplainable lag that i never had in Mw2. I used to be in the top 3 in mw2 early days and black ops for the first 6 months, I still play the same, yet I am somewhere around the bottom in this game, looking at kill cams I die because MY gun uses a whole clip to kill someone, there's kills me in one or two shots, I run at two mph and they run at 20 mph Cheating killed black Ops for me and this game is going the same way, fast!
The greedy developers knew about the cheats and did NOTHING about them before the general release and by default this game will go down as a fail because sledgehammer have NOT the know how to correct the ancient faults with ID software base code.
Best buy will give me 50 bux for it so it may be gone by next weekend, damn good riddance I say!

Good game but nothing revolutionary. Always enjoyed MW but never a die hard fan but even I was disappointed with this. Its good, but not amazing. Having never played Battlefield games for longer than a few mins, BF3 has come strides whereas MW3 feels like its been complacent since MW2.

Single player experience is an improvement over MW2 but there is still very little plot or original ideas in it. In the Multiplayer about 8/10 of the game you get into lag to the point at which navigating around the map is problematic let alone actually playing the game and the spawn system seem so broken as to there being no system in place at all. You don't play a COD single player expecting the greatest story ever so I can accept that not being the best but honestly online I don't think the game is even finished yet, perhaps in a month or 2 when presumably these problems will have been patched away I could recommend buying MW3 but right now its realy not fit for release judging from my experience. Its unacceptable that activision are allowed to release what is essentially a broken product onto the market were there this depth of problems with another form of entertainment people would be demanding refunds, its a middle finger to gamers. Let's face it, this game is good, but disappointing. Some forms of Modern Warfare 2 were updated, like strike packages, guns and maps, but it feels like we paid full price for an expansion. Overall the game is fun, and others must think this too by the number of people playing the game, but consumers are getting to the point where tired of playing a lot of money for the same experience.

This wasn't a bad game, it was just the same thing as MW2 which was upsetting, it had the same exact guns and gameplay, the only things that were different was the maps, and the campain. the only thing that was exciting about this game was the spec ops. If you love MW2 then you will love this, but if you don't want to buy the same game twice, don't waste your time

I had to get his game since MW2 was the first PS3 game I got and I own Black Ops. The multiplier is fun but gets redundant after a month of playing. I'm not much of a multiplier guy but I don make an exception for call of duty. The campaign was too cliche, Russian trying to destroy the world??? sounds like the plot of every other Hollywood film these days. The game is too western for me, WW3 a fight with Americans, Europe and Russia? it sounds alot like ww2 but set in the modern era. Seriously where is China??? the second most powerful country in the world, if there is a ww3 than certainly China would have a part to play. The multiplayer is just basically the same formula from mw2 with changes for balancing issues but I did feel infinite ward got lazy with this title and just rehash everything from the previous mw2 and change the 2 to a 3 just so they can release another game. But nonetheless they got what they wanted, the number one largest entertainment launch in history once again. It's amazing how much money a company can make once they get the formula for an addictive game play down, at the same time it's also pretty sad. As long as their making this much money I doubt they'll change much in any future call of duty games so I am pretty sure this will be my last call of duty game. Expand

I know same ol' same ol' repeat of modern warfare 2, but that comment pretty much sums it up. The guns are the same, with the exception of a few pretty good guns. The maps are the same maze driven, dirt roads, burning cars, busted up buildings, --and with what seems to be caution from the creators-- few great spots like in MW2 and black ops (even with how bad that game was). The addition of the strike packages add a new twist, but realistically, along with the kill streaks, they are the same as MW2. One thing i really did like about the multiplayer is being able to carry streaks across deaths, being as how for me its kill, death, kill, death, and so on, and so on. (Also, drop zone is the one thing that kept me playing the game. On to campaign, overall it was an alright campaign, for the fact that it was fresh, and a little interesting, but always being on the brink of death isn't fun in any of the Call of Duty games. In spec ops, the addition of survival is pretty fun, but it is a poor attempt at combating Treyarch's/ Activision's zombies. The missions are a nice challenge. Expand

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
