So before I start I want to say that I have played every COD that has been realeased already.
Modern Warfare 3 is fast-paced FPS and really good game. I cant stand those BF3 FANBOYS giving game 0 or 1 LMAO dont observe on them. I have both bf3 and mw3 and there equally good even tough mw3 has little advantage for me. What also makes me laugh are again people saying that this is like DLC

SP is spectacular and breathtaking even tough its kinda short MP is good and balanced unlike black ops.
Spec ops and survival mode are new things(survival mode is) and there really funny and enjoyable.
All in all mw3 deserves IMO 9 because of short campaign and everything else is great.
Must buy for mw fans and for others who wants to have fun and be competative at the same time

So it's an expensive map-pack? Correct. However you won't find more people online playing a game with a more solid foundation and set of mechanics. Shame? Yes. Could they have done more? Yes x2. Is it still going to keep you hooked for months? Yes x3.

Call Of Duty may be one of the easiest games to make but it is very ADDICTING when it come's to multiplayer you can't argue there. If you were new to COD and just started playing it you can't say the game is crap because nearly everyone I know love's playing COD like I do

Their is clearly a reason that COD is the highest selling gaming franchise in history...because they have perfected what the first person shooter should be. It is hard to believe that this game has gotten so many negative reviews from "fans". If anything, it shows how this BF3 v MW3 has affected peoples judgement. To give a game a 0 or a 1 score means that it is utterly unplayable, so their no excuse for giving this game those scorelines unless A) you have not played it and do not intend to because you are so hung up on BF3 or B) you wish to drive the score down intentionally. Both are inexcusable. It is clear that MW3 is a fantastic piece of software! Universal accliam from critics should tell yo usomething. Agreed, the series could use some freshening up, but to say that it is entirely stale is a gross misstatement. The graphics are fantastic as always, the action is explosive and over the top and will keep you on your seat, and the multiplayer is a real treat. The new survival mode is absolutely brilliant and will be a good alternative to the "zombies mode" of black Ops. Well done Infinity Ward, you made another brilliant one!!! Expand

Overall in my opinion, the single player and the special ops add depth and value to the package. The multi-player experience is where this package stands out, it will leave you addicted for months especially with call of duty elite and the vast amount of information it offers. The new modes also make it a worthwhile game.

I personally have only played the first 36% of the campaign and found it as average as the last games, but where it really shines is its Online Multiplayer and Special Ops. Special Ops has an option of two modes, Survival and Missions. The missions are an arcade-esque version of the game and are fairly engaging. Survival, however, is the cream of the crop. I always found the Zombie modes of previous COD titles exciting, but there was no real strategic element or tactics other than 'lapping.' Survival brings these missing elements from Zombies and creates a great challenge that will constantly keep you coming back for more. The Online multiplayer has taken a fair amount of stick but seriously, what were people expecting? They have incorporated the best of all the previous titles and presented it in a way that is not at all different to previous episodes. People complain about the maps, and the guns; but really 16 interesting and different maps, varying in size, environment, and combat style make for an exciting experiences. They included the split screen online multiplayer as well. In summary, a great game. Not the revolution some people where expecting, but certainly worth buying if youre a fan of the series. And a passing thought, if you're playing Online and are getting 0kills 10deaths or a score as absymal as that, theres no excuse other than you're s***! remember the story of the poor carpenter? The setting and scenarios are familiar, but ramped up to 11 with a fantasy World War 3. The well-loved characters from the previous Modern Warfares are back (Soap & Price) but there is little connection felt with the others, particularly the new playable protagonist Yuri. Multiplayer is all that you've come to expect, which is both a good and bad thing.

    Short Review...

Spec Ops: With the addition of Survival mode I say that mode alone is a 10/10. It's fun, a lot more interesting than Zombies from the Treyarch Call of Duty games and for when PS3 network is down for maintenance I found it an enjoyable activity to pass time with. Much like multiplayer it has a leveling system. Your waves and cash will reset to zero but as you level you will have more weapons to buy and unlock more maps to play on. It is also great practice for learning the multiplayer maps since they share the same maps. The higher level maps have more difficult waves but over all i still found myself getting far and it was very fun.

Campaign: Nothing new here other then the story itself continues. I'll give it a 7/10 considering they finally got rid of the stupid training mission that started the story out before. The training mission is in spec ops however if you enjoy it for some reason. All call of duty campaigns have amazing presentation but overall it's the same experience to me.

Multiplayer: Nothing changed... bull crap, people are liars. First off a 9/10 for this. First thing I noticed was the lighting and weather effects. It is truly on par with the campaign style presentation. It feels like Battlefield 3's scale with a more user friendly close quarters arena, over all if you don't see the difference you should really go buy or rent the game and stop lying to people. Other than that the rest is the same with exception to weapon leveling which really just makes it easier to unlock attachments, no more of that 20 head shots bull crap with this and that or heart beat sensors kills. With plenty of nice tweaks this game is worth the $60 considering you get 16 maps anyways which Activision would have charged you anyways at $60 based on how they set up their map packs.

    What it needs to improve:
    1) Legacy Maps, all of them, rock band style, you should have learned Activision when the Guitar Hero series had to end. Don't let EA beat you to this because it will probably cut sales by A LOT! If that's to many maps for people create separate play list so that people can decide what they play and only need one disc. Also have a favorites play list where players can vote on all maps and the current top 10 maps will be in the favorites rotation.
    2) Destruction, but in your own unique way. I have Battlefield for destroying entire buildings but it would be cool to be able to create some new cover areas and destroy some camping spots.
    3) Create a Map, this is something I would like to see down the line, Tony Hawks create a skate park was pretty dope, i think we could make some pretty awesome maps with the right tools....

so now my average score is...9, i started off with an 8 but decided to rate each part and came to 9, so I will go with 9 officially. thanks for reading.

People may argue that the game runs on an old engine but briefly ignoring the fact that this is a very nice-looking game with a silky smooth 60FPS: since when have engines been the be-all and end-all of a game's success... Ocarina of Time 3D is still one of the best games of the year despite running on an engine from a decade ago so that cant be a detrimental factor to MW3.....

It's so funny how much free time adolescent kids have where they can go out of their way to create accounts with multiple websites just so they can leave negative review scores of 0. I can't understand the world truly. I mean really, it baffles me sometimes just how ignorant people can be. Additionally what is also baffling is the fact that so many underage people are talking about MW3 and Battlefield 3. You shouldn't be able to grab ahold of these games to begin with. But as the way of the world your sh*t parents don't care about what you're into anyways and will be the ones ultimately buying these games for you.

Go ahead and fuel my fire, I don't care. Go ahead and say my review isn't helpful, I don't care. I'll be the first though to say this game is awesome. Prior to buying this game I did buy (and I do own) Battlefield 3. [You see when you are not a child dependent on your parents income to buy your entertainment, you can buy both games and actually "really" play them on day 1] So after buying into EA's deceptive great marketing ploy I was so convinced B3 would be a great game, even coming from a COD fan. I think competition is healthy and I am willing to play whatever is good, as simple as that. B3 looked so good to begin with, then the beta left a bad taste in my mouth and left me wondering was it all just hype? I changed my mind from instant buy to maybe. Then the reviews came out and declared it a good game, all the bugs had been fixed, the game had been balanced and polished. True it has, but really what I still discovered is that mostly the game is hype and the reviews seem to be generously giving it higher scores than deserved. In short I'll be honest and straight to the point. Although B3 is just an alright title, it is nothing to write home about. I find it to be a bit dull and boring, the controls are nice but not as tight as a Modern Warfare title, and the graphics (console versions) are actually ugly. A majority of the gaming community worldwide play games on consoles, this is how the majority experience their games, and sadly the majority will experience some suckage. I would even say on consoles (I'm playing on PS3) that it doesn't even look better than Modern Warfare 2. I'm having a hard time having fun with it and after the jet level where you take off from the aircraft carrier I haven't picked up and continued from there yet.

Now I am on Modern Warfare 3 and this game is gorgeous, the controls are tight, it is fast paced, and the most important thing is that it is fun and entertaining. A step above B3 in every department. To say it is just recycled whatever from Modern Warfare 2 is an ignorant claim and statement to make, it is not. People are just trying to make a case to give reason to hate this game. No one complains about Halo, Gears of War, Uncharted, GTA, and a plethora of hundreds of other good games recycling engines, but when COD does it, it is bad. If it isn't broke why fix it? Just tweak it to make it better, which is exactly what was done. Right from the start being in the first (Manhattan) level and going through the city streets and into the NYSE it looked downright gorgeous. I never seen any of those buildings, set pieces, debris and furniture rendered in other COD games before, so how is it recycled? Just ignorant talk is all. Going right into the second level breaching a submarine and surfacing up on the NYC coastline again this game looks amazing.

The honest reason why people have so much time to bash this game for is because their game B3 already came out, they played it and found it boring just as I did, but they don't want to say it or show it. So instead of spending time to play their game they substitute hitting review sites, and bringing the score way down and constitute that as having a good time instead. Well have fun doing that, this game will probably go on to be the number 1 selling video game of all-time with or without your 0's. I laugh at you and I laugh at your stupidity. So mind boggling how stupid people can be really, all I can hope for is God coming down to end the world sooner rather than later, because mankind needs help, fast!

The options available to the player vast, as in BF3, but unlike BF3 there are people to kill. The maps in BF3 are too sparse on consoles at least, and you expect about 15 kills a game. where as on MW3 you get in the region of 30 a game. Kill confirmed is better than anything BF3 has to off. The streamlined nature of the online multiplayer is quite addictive and is fast pasted both in gameplay and in loading times. There have been a few glitches/server losses, but that only means I have to wait another 45 seconds to get back into it. No big deal.

Why not a "10"? There is room for improvement, particularly in the graphics. But COD MW3 is, nonetheless, and enjoyable game, over and over.

On a side note, it's interesting that sports fans don't mind picking up a only slightly revamped Madden every year, or anything from 2K games, but FPS fans (on this site in particular) are rabid about things like "developer laziness" or because it lacks a particular element some gamer preferred. And yet, regardless of the low scores, there are anywhere from 600K to 900K online playing - er - enjoying MW3 at any given time.

The gameplay is tight and a lot of fun. The new perk leveling system is brilliant and you can expect to see it become a part of the video game industry as a whole. The maps are fun, look great, and have some great spots on each one. The single player is a little lacking story wise and I did think that a lot of the gun combat seemed unnaturally close. The multiplayer has tons of graphical and perk rewards added from Modern Warfare 2. But with it being the same engine it does look directly descendant from MW2. The explosions are just barely beginning to outdated. The specs ops and it's new leveling system are SO MUCH FUN. I just can't get over the great time I've had. This is the highlight of the whole thing for me. What a blast!!!

Lastly, if you think that Battlefield 3 is better that's within reason. But there's no way that because this game is in second place it isn't worth buying. Video games are supposed to be fun to play. And this game has a lifetime's worth of gamemodes and enjoyable content.

Spec Ops is really fun. With the new survival mode I think it is more fun than the zombies. Survival is great with the maps, weapons, upgrade system, money system and variety of enemies. The mission part of Spec Ops is like MW2 but I think the missions are longer and want the player to get into action a little bit more. Generally Spec Ops is better than MW2 as well.
Coming to multiplayer, most played section of the game. The fast paced Modern Warfare multiplayer is back with new chain kill or point streak system, kill confirmed game mode, new weapons, new weapon upgrade system etc. Nothing much the say about multiplayer I think. The same addictive and absolutely fun MW multiplayer is back like the previous MW games. One thing I saw about the MW3 multiplayer is this multiplayer is more tactical and defensive compared to MW2 multiplayer. I think this is better because it gives you the chance to reflect your playing-style better and use the advantage of the stronger sides in your gamesytle. Graphics, better than MW2 but worse than BF3 to be honest.
Generally, this game has great singleplayer, exciting spec ops and addictingly fun multiplayer.
The battle with BF3? I think MW3 wins this one because of the more detailed singleplayer, variety of singleplayer in spec ops and I think with the multiplayer that a FPS game must have.

I do believe technically, Battlefield 3 is superior. I also prefer the latter's focus in the campaign - of small teams of military professionals doing a job - even though this job is over the top and clearly stolen from the COD/MW scriptbook. After I finished BF3, I looked up the website of the US Marines, cuz the game made me respect what these guys do.
MW3 is more of a Jerry Bruckheimer rollercoaster ride, and combat feels more like the frantic actions you do in an arcade than on the battlefield. However, I think the execution and story are honed very much and delivered with confidence.
On its own merits, I would rate this game 9. However, the legal and personal issues of the developers and publishers demerit this game. As consumers, we will never know the real background of the conflict, but it is clear that many people were handled unjustly. I think it's wrong that people are marking down this game in these proportions, but it does serve to send a powerful signal that consumers have very keen sensitivities in regards to how a product and its people are being handled (despite the fact that this game has become the single most successful entertainment launch in history). Because after MW3, when talent is treated poorly, there may be a backlash like with the LA Noire team. So conclusion? Good game, but the gamers don't like your company. As far as the single player campaign goes, MW2 left you what can be considered a cliff hanger. continuing the story where it left off was well done by the IW/Sledgehammer staff.

Spec Ops, at least for me, is where it got more interesting. The survival mode proved to be a very fun endeavor for me. That new mode seemed very original to me. Props to IW/Sledgehammer on that.

The multiplayer however, is a different story. It's a mixed bag for me since while the maps and guns aren't as good as in MW2, everything else (which there is) is greatly improved. I'd be hard-pressed to call this an expansion pack but then comes the spec ops with survival mode which would be better with 4 people, and the other spec ops missions are a BLAST. So while I say it's no MW2, that's like saying that a trillion dollars is no blowjob from the girl of your dreams while you're high on acid and swimming in a pool of liquefied gold yet not burning. BF3 is a great game. if you're looking for a full on war simulation i would recommend that any day. but if you're looking for smooth, fast paced skirmishes, mw3 is the best. so stop driving down the score, cuz we aren't on your metacritic being that big of **** the new pointstreak reward system helps incorporate new ways to play multiplayer. many of the guns are the same as mw2, but it's the third game in a trilogy, what do you expect? the new guns kick @$$ anyway. the maps may not be amazingly awesome, but they are good maps and do the trick fine. unlocking things instead of buying them (blops) gives you a much better sense of accomplishment. THIS GAME IS NOT A MW2 MAP PACK. it has so much more. consider this : normal CoD map packs are $15. they come with 4 maps. PERIOD! if this were a map pack, it would be a $60 pack that comes with: 16 new maps, with access to CoD elite and a multitude of new dlc, many new weapons, 2 ENTIRELY NEW WAYS TO USE KILL STREAKS a whole new challenge list, 10 more prestige levels, a level cap raised to 80, prestige shop, all new spec ops mode, survival mode, 6 more hours of story for just in case your internet is down. not to mention there aren't any modders on mw3 yet, unlike any CoD before blops. If you've ever enjoyed playing a CoD, i would recommend picking it up. at first glance it is cut and paste of modern warfare 2, but i guarantee that if you sat down with it for 30 mins, you would realize that it's so much more, and be just as hooked on it as you have been for any other call of duty. It is a successor to the MW story line, gameplay expereince and everything else that was an integral part of the original MW that took everyone by surprise and knocked their socks off. The next game they make, having concluded this trilogy, will be the different, brand spankin' new experience that everyone seems to be craving. But for what it is meant to be, MW3 is bloody brilliant! And It is the familiarity that makes it so, you know what you are getting into, you are already good at it, and with all the new players coming over to the game you will have plenty of noobs to pick on in multiplayer and plenty of veterans to give you a tough time. You can complain all you want, and technically BF3 my even be the better game, but as far as instantly accessible, raucous, addictive, long lasting and uncomplicated joy goes, MW3 and in fact the entire MW series wins hands down. What makes it worth the 60 bucks entry fee is the fact that one year later you will still be playing it, prestiging the hell out of your avatar and getting your adrenaline rush as and when you need it. Add to that an epic story executed like a summer block buster that actually makes you give a damn about the character you are supposed to be even if its so short that it serves primarily as a training camp for your MP exploits is a recipe for success that Activision well know how to whip together. I got the hardened edition and all connectivity issues aside, and despite the fact that theres a boat load of great titles coming out alongside MW3, i know i got my money's worth because this will be the only game i will still be playing next november when another COD game comes out. No offense to anyone, this really is a matter of personal preference but instead of dissing the game try to see it as what it was meant to be. Expand

Expand

As far as the multiplayer goes, yea nothing's changed much....but what was that old saying......"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"? They have around 2 million people playing online at any one time....that is some great statistics and achievement for any gaming company. Look how far we've come from getting all your friends round and playing with just 2 people at a time or 4 if you had the PS1 quad adapter. Be grateful that people can create such high quality products, regardless of the game title. I'm not a CoD fan boy at all, i'm a video gamer and I have more games and consoles than I can name (sad I know), and I probably will be trying BF3....not because I don't enjoy MW3, but because I want to appreciate what other games can offer. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is amazing. I've been buying games for many, many years and few titles you buy on day one at full price, fully give you bang for every buck you spend on the game. The first ten minutes of the game are so incredible and rewarding to anyone who beat the cliffhanger ending of Modern Warfare 2 that instantly you will fall back into the role of hunting down the hell bent terrorist leader, Makarov. A short but full filling single player campaign, an entire co-op mode involving 16 hard hitting spec op missions and a leveling up RPG style spec ops "survival mode" along with an amazing multiplayer makes it hard to see what's to could complain about. If you never liked the Call of Duty style shooter than you probably will not enjoy MW3, although I still highly think you should pick it up!

Do not listen to ultra negative user reviewers, almost everyone who would give it a 10 out of 10 are too busy playing the heck out of the game to come on here. If this the example of a "terrible game" I think you had it out to hate this game no matter what. The main complaints are saying the game is rehash. Really? Have you played the amazing games such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear, Resident Evil and The Legend of Zelda?
