Outdated engine is outdated. God, the particle effects are exactly the same as they were in CoD 4. I'm not sure how anyone could blow 60 dollars an CoD MW 1.3, because that's what it is. Zocker is wrong, both BF3 and MW3 are both terrible games, the difference is that BF3 was made that bad, MW3 they took MW2 and changed a little bit, added a crappy new story, then sold it like tard cakes. both were very bad games, MW3 is worst and i cant understand how anybody could be so blind as to not realize its obvious flaws in both game play and story

You would think after DICE stepped up their game and created a brand new engine that maybe CoD developers would have done the same thing and tried to improve upon their last few games. But no, same game as always. CoD is the new Madden of FPS. Constant releases all the same.

This is the same old rehashed s**t. It's exactly the same as Modern Warfare 3 and offers nothing new to the table, other than new maps and weapons. Activision will just keep on releasing the same old game every year as long as people buy the game because it's called "Call of Duty".

The fact that there is an audience for Call of Duty astounds me. This generic shooter is the same copy and paste formula we have been seeing year after year from Activision. With its low skill ceiling and over powered incentives this game lacks any variety what so ever. This game is more fitting as a map pack, a bad one at that.

Oh man, this is worse than most of the Call of Duty games.... I mean really, everyone was just going on and on and on about it, and when it finally gets here, it was just flat out awful! I was hugely unimpressed with MW2 however, although I did sill enjoy the game, I felt it was a huge step back. It didn't breed the competetive nature that COD4 did. There was no balance within the weapons. Using a sniper for example, was almost pointless due to the accuracy of Scar+RDS.

Gimmicky things like scavenger perk & kill streaks made camping the most effective way to play.

However, MW3 was hugely built up - I heard from friends they were going to find a middle-ground between 4 & MW2.

I anticipated this game greatly, a new MW, which would hopefully learn from the mistakes of MW2 and hopefully a game to blow the 2 previous titles out the water.

HOW WRONG I WAS. This game didn't just let me down immensly, I have never felt so ripped off by a product in my life.

I know the gaming industry isn't going to develop a new engine everytime a developer releases a sequel - but as gamers we at least expect some gameplay improvement & new features.

Lazy would be an understatement. The gameplay is EXACTLY, i repeat EXACTLY the same. Most the guns are the same. The maps are new. And they have a new storyline for offline.

And that, i'm afraid is MW3 in a nutshell.

I'm taking it back tomorrow wiith my reciept for a full refund, and activision/IW deserve to be investigated by some sort of watchdog body for this effort.

If they want this series to stay strong they need to take the first step and do something original like when they first released MW1 because right now its getting sad.

Case and point this was an overpriced expansion pack, and if their map pack prices were any indication they definitely arent strangers to ripping people off.

The physics feel cheap and flimsy, as the guns do not actually recoil realistically and animations look unnaturally robotic. Being able to go full auto at someone with a machine gun while having the reticule barely budge makes the gunplay feel unrealistic and cheap. Sound effects are equally messy; gunfire sounds more like a fruitblender than anything else. Firing the weapons has no weight behind them due to the muffled, unrealistic sound effects and the robotic physics, giving little to no satisfaction in landing hits. At 60 bucks, IW is robbing us of our money. This is almost the same game, with the same engine, the same graphics, and same gameplay as the previous two. I feel like there is an immense lack of effort and dedication put in by the design team; in its third iteration, i expect a game to at the very least have technological improvements over its predecessors. But even there I am disappointed. I find it hilarious that the Glen Schofield has the balls to ask for higher user ratings on Metacritic after pumping out this product on so much hype. It's unfortunate that hopes and expectations can't stop a great franchise from derailing. Everything that made me keep coming back to CoD4 and MW2 are gone in this sequel, which is both unsurprising and yet disappointing. The kill streak systems have some nice ideas but the lack of a Nuke is unacceptable; Let Treyarch make the diet CoD games for those who complain about balance, sure MW2 could get ridiculous at times because of nukes, secondary shot guns and quick scoping but guess what? That's what gave it a pulse. When you take away the manic elements that made multiplayer unpredictable and fresh every time around you're left with a giant lifeless corpse without a pulse. Despite all of this, I was hoping that the game would at least deliver some entertaining maps that could compete with high rise or crash, but the developers killed my hopes there too, though they are definitely a step above the maps in Black Ops. Looking at the critics score it is so simply obvious that craptivision bribed almost everyone of them. Don't support a game with ZERO innovation and the most out dated graphics for a modern game. Story is so cliche and predictable and PLEASE we are all sick of the Russians plot. Many glitches and clunky shooting with old maps 'copy and pasted' just destroys this game. Its the same game as MW2... seriously guys after a few hours you'll be bored. All they changed in the game is a new campaign (which is only like 4 hours long) and a few minor additions. In a nutshell, this is honestly just an expensive dlc pack. Save your $60 and wait for skyrim or something.

This game is just more of the same. I couldn't stand the singleplayer. It's like I had already played everything in there before and they ran out of ideas (shocking right?) and they even took the idea of the no gravity section from Killzone 3. Without this story I would have remained a silent part of what appears to be a majority of fans who are dissatisfied with the latest COD installment. MW3 IS the reason I'm quitting gaming altogether. I'm a COD multiplayer fanatic with a shameful amount of my life spent playing the game (MW and MW2) online. I didn't even play the campaigns for WAW, Black Ops, or MW3...went right to multiplayer and figure most serious COD players do the same. The campaign mode is simply rubbish that takes at most a day to finish. This isn't just a hit on MW3...the past 4 COD releases all have this issue.
MW3 is Black Ops 2 in regards to online gameplay. From the graphics, to the sounds, to the load-out system. Infinity Ward went from near perfection with MW/MW2 multiplayer interface to a poor attempt at improving on Treyarch's multiplayer interface. -Why, why, why add weapon proficiencies? You've made a once very usable weapon into a spray and pray device. The only useful perk is Kick...without this perk a once reasonably controllable assault rifle is useless from a moderate distance. You can fix this immediately by automatically applying the proficiencies to the weapon as they're unlocked....instead of only allowing a single proficiency. -Why make the maps bigger while making the players slower? Extreme conditioning isn't infinite and no Lightweight? Come on....
-The reticle design selection...straight ripoff from Black Ops...you could do better.
-One of my biggest concerns...shotguns are now considered a primary weapon...another ripoff from Black Ops. NO...I don't want to use the Overkill perk.
-Juiced may be the most useless death streak on these huge maps.
-Why do all the guns sound like 50 Barretts going off? -Why do grenades take so long to explode? Not feeling having to cook ever grenade thrown.
    -The maps are absolute mazes....
-Kill steaks...why 2 strike packages? You really think someone will utilize both in their custom classes? With each class allowing for custom strike packages, why not just put all the kill streaks in one big category?
-As you rank up, the emblem graphics are beyond weak.
Not sure the COD franchise could release another installment that would entice me enough to give it another try. After Black Ops and now MW3, I'm waiving the white towel.

The simple fact of seeing my character flapping his arm in a jogging motion as if running away from Godzilla, but only to find himself moving as though he had 100lbs weights straped to his leg is unreasonable, unlogical, and unnecessary. Why would you think that by trying to put a lot of buildings and corner on a small map would make it seem bigger? Your answer? NO! It does not again. The lighting on about half the maps are terrible, some of the lighting is the same through out most of the area. Same consistency, same shading/tint. What is wrong with that? Will, hmm... Let me see.. clearly everything. The graphics is also and issue. Minor downgrades of meshes, the texture to me also seem a bit dumb downed compared to Mw2. Now about the guns, what happen quick scoping? I understand some people feel this is an issue but why would you degrade a sniper rifle to the point where its unbearable to even have. To the point where the gun is practically useless? During my time online(Both PS3 and 360) I literally shot a player in the torso about 10ft away with a M107c a.k.a. the .50 cal(Damage on the gun stat clearly stats max damage) and the player turned around and shot me? I assure you this happened multiple times(Full 4 green bar). Do not get me wrong, I love the CoD franchise. I just hate what it has become.

Also to you SledgeHammer, yes directly to you and I hope you read this. I do not know how hard or how little you worked on making this game you call Modern Warfare 3, or the sacrifices made or if any made at all, BUT was clearly too much to put effort on your behalf? The engine was already there for you! You didn't have to build an engine from the ground up. You clearly had a Year to draft artwork for the maps, design layouts, make a campaign storyline and retexture some guns. With as many well-educated people as you have it shouldn't be that hard. I also notice models of objects from Mw3 that are/is similar/from Mw2. Mainly was It to hard for you to try At ALL with passion for games to put in the slightest amount of sweat and blood into this game? I guess not eh? I don't blame you. You, just like Activision, just wants to make a quick buck with the smallest amount of energy spent by milking the CoD name and franchise. I bet if you sell milk with Call of Duty on it you would get 12yrs old fanboys flocking from all over wanting it. Good luck with CoD:Mw4 or CoD:Iron Wolf. Heard one of those is coming out again next year in 2012 by November again. No surprise. Same engine, new guns, new map right? Charge 60$ for what should be a 14.95$ map pack. "Can't fix what ain't broken" right? It ain't broken so no point in bothering with it, right? Nope. It's Call IMPROVEMENT,PROGRESSION. Too bad those words aren't in yours or Activision's Dictionary.

    -----------
Overall if you want mw3? Might as will get mw2 and save you the 40$. Personal Rating: Mw3=5/10*

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.

As a complete package, Modern Warfare 3 takes the cake. [Jan 2012, p.67]
