    I read in a review about how everyone here has given MW3 such a bad rating, the article basically said its just due to a protest and the game really isn't that bad. It basically said MW3 is what we all asked for (the same) yet now we are complaining about it. I have to disagree that its in protest because its the same game and we wanted something completely different. The reason I do not like MW3 as much as any other COD title is because it didn't progress in development. They made the same mistakes during release, they didn't use what they have learned from the other games at all, and most of all even though MW2 was overall better than black ops (in how polished it was and the story) black ops still had evolved over previous versions, I didn't feel like I went backwards. MW3 uses the same game engine from 2 years ago the same exploits that were FIXED in black ops are back again. Also the maps are no where near as fun as previous games, there is no tiny map (rush, nuketown) and no really big map which are generally the stand out maps in the games that everyone always votes to play. When asked to vote for a map in this game, I don't as they are all the same and there is very little variety between the current maps offered in the game.… Expand

    This Game is like a joke. You have to wait like 15 min to join a Lobby. And sometimes it kicks you out right before the game starts and you can wait another 15 mins to join next Lobby. Before the game ends i get "out of memory" very often and get kicked out of the lobby and the party. all the points i´ve made are gone.
    Maps are so small that you can get a kill after 3 steps.    This Game is like a joke. You have to wait like 15 min to join a Lobby.     This game is horrible! Campaign and Survival mode are fun yes, but multiplayer, what were yall thinking? I had a guy spawn INSIDE of me! Put the spawns back to how they were in MW2!! Another thing, why do i have to shoot someone 100 times to kill them? And the maps! O MY! Im seriously going to say these are the WORST maps in GAMING history.     very disappointed bought the elite version just got ripped off they are nothing but some rich no caring scammers i haven't got 1thng promised to me for being a elite member. even now i check an it says im not a elite member bs there has to be some kinda law suit or something false advertisement or something to teach these jerks they CANT be ripping us off!

    Is a terrible game, I hate when the camera moves when you shoot, also the multiplayer has enough errors as bugs that help one to cheat, and in campaign mode also has many bugs.
    This game is pure hype, the game sucks

    It is crap and has the same bad hit detection has Black Ops. The menus look like they were developed 15 years ago. Lag is terrible. Same stupid boards. No creativity.     Times are really bad, there are 25 million unemployed people, me included even though i have a resume that would have landed me in a corner office a decade or so ago, now i can't even get an interview because of it. At $70 after tax i could only buy one of the 5-10 great games that came out recently or within the next month. Based on loving MW2 i decided i would basically eat bread and water for a week and not care because i would love MW3 so much. Based on IGN and many publisher reviews of 9.5's and even 10's (which were criminal looking back), i spent what little money i had $70 to buy the game. After 1hr i realized something was wrong, did i reinsert the MW2 disc or even COD1 by accident. It felt like i was playing an old game. It was then and only then (after launch) i found out it was using the same engine from a game that came out in 2002. Never before in gamming history have a seen a title regress from it's predecessor. MW3 and IGN owe the gaming community an apology as well as their $70 back. Shame on all the "paid off" critics for 9.5's and 10's they should be investigated and criminally charged for fraud and false advertisement. When you buy something new it's suppose to be new. If i bought a 2011 car i wouldn't be happy if they threw in the engine of an older model. ZERO… Expand

    this game is recycled garbage. All sounds like leveling up, gun sounds, explosions, are direct copy paste. Maps are poorly designed. Long corridors, few hiding spots, most cover can be shot through, small maps. corridors make using a shotgun a losing effort. almost no way of getting behind the enemy. And if you do the spawn system makes your efforts useless. Spawns are ridiculous. I mean there's 6 enemies on the map. Are you telling me the game engine can't find a good spot to drop me into? Useless perks like recon. pro perks are easy to unlock because they are useless. Most pro perks have nothing to do with the original perk.
    assassin and blind eye are necessary to be "stealth" using two spots that should only use one. stealth is impossible due to skulls showing on the enemy screens giving away my killzone.
    players can't Sprint farther than 10 feet. Extreme conditioning barely helps.
    sniping has been reduced to a low spread shotgun. Quickscope is effortless. No maps promote actual sniping so no wonder they made Quickscope easy.
    worthless unlocks. Your just kidding yourself if you think a gun leveling system adds any replayability.
    all guns are overpowered. Making any favorites come down to iron sights and clip size.
    singleplayer is short and uninventive. players can't jump on anything. But a little piece of trash on the map can stop you dead in your tracks.

    the list goes on. Thanks the heavens I didn't buy into your hype and just rented it. This life lesson only cost me 7 dollars opposed to 60.

    take your engine and game and scrap it. Your just beating a dead horse. This won't go on forever. I wonder if gamestop is a partner of yours because they know half of the buyers will trade this in allowing them to actually make a profit off of them.    … Expand

    All I have to say is that I put more effort into masturbation than what Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer put into Modern Warfare 3. This game gave a very POOR first impression of Sledgehammer. Hell, Black Ops is better than this. i would rather want a re-vamped CoD 4 than this pile of poop.

    I bought it, waited in line at midnight. Played it, returned it the next morning. Absolutely the biggest pile of garbage I've ever bought. Also I owned every other cod and they sucked but not this bad. I enjoyed zombies so I won't rag on black ops. Battlefield = better graphics , better gameplay, bigger and better environments, ect.     I'm insulted by this release. It is just a remake of MW2 but worse in many ways. They removed some popular playing styles, screwed up the maps, and called it a day.

    When you make billions of dollars after blacks ops you think you could actually put some effort into the next game and make a good story mode that is more than friekin 5hrs. I payed 65 dollars for a story mode that was full of just shooting 20 guys then get in a car and kill 10 followed by kill 30 more. The story is BS. Top it off with multiplayer being the same just added map packs. Rip off.

    All the video game websites that had no balls to be truthful and give mw3 a low score which it deserves since it is a recycled game the same game as before can take the money activision payed you to give the game a high score can shove the money up each of your bunholes.     Modern warfare 2 is good, but not even killfests compare to the simulation and entertainment I get from battlefield 3.

    Walls and building being destroyed. Rubble and debris everywhere! Tanks and squads assaulting strategic areas a la flag placements.  Being holed up in a building while the enemy is beseiging it with tanks, helicoptors, snipers while your squad works together    Modern warfare 2 is good, but not even killfests compare to the simulation and entertainment I get from battlefield 3.

    Oh man...modern warfare 2 does not offer this. It only gives you kill rushes. Thats it. And im sure mw3 does the same. I...cannot accept this over the massive stimulation I get from battlefield 3. I get less kills, but The overall experience is better.

    People who complain about battlefield 3 cuz of the single player campaign, snipers, people hidden in rubble that look like dead bodies are a bunch of **** who bring down a good game. So, what do you want...fking to have men rush you like monsters do in power rangers so you can get your easy kills? 

    I don't give a **** about bf3 single player. Bf3 isnt about singleplayer. Its all about the multiplayer, and all you **** who think ps3 graphics sucks for bf3 are a bunch of ****. Graphics dont always make the game---hence why bf2 from 2005 is still the king over all these games. Bf2 is the true call of duty killer, and I fking hate it every time I see a little bc2 **** with a bc2 dog tag playing bf3.     I remember playing this game in 2007, but I think it was called COD4. This games formula is staid to say the least, but I have to wonder what it might have really been like if Infinity Ward hadn't imploded. Oh, and it is a 0 because I don't think a map pack should cost $60.

    At school, I learned that copying is bad. At least, when I copied works from Internet, I tried to hide it as much I as could. MW3 is just like a work copied from Wikipedia, without removing the blue links.

    Despite being a long time fan of call of duty I couldn't take this any more. modern warfare 3 has degraded into an overrated cash cow and a copy and paste of previous titles. Save your precious money by not buying this worthless game.

    Here's the problem; worst map design to date, copypasta content from mw2, horrid netcode. Game controls dumbed down to eliminate all skill and deliver most arcade like fps ever. Nothing mode then Activision milking the MW name to rip off millions of loyal customers with 100-60 dollar patch.

    I, like many others, am unbelievably disappointed by this so called new game. I understand that the COD franchise is based on a game that has a certain layout and method of game play and for years i have enjoyed them year after year. The worst thing about this game has to be the problems on the PS3 when attempting to log onto online multiplayer. The existing faults with the old games have now been brought into the "new" game, with constant errors, such as, unable to migrate host and unable to connect to server. For me, this was the main reason i parted with the game 2 days after release date and traded it in to lose £10.00 on the original value.
    I have now converted to playing Battlefield 3 and i must say i was never a huge fan of the battlefield franchise, but on this occasion they have hit the nail on the head. Rant over.    … Expand

This game makes me appreciate Black ops. This is just a polished game of MW2, with everything patched and tweaked. Your paying $67 (Including taxes) for the same thing! This does not send a favorable message to developers. Because now, any game that is released that doesn't sell like 4 million in the first 24 hours is just doomed to fail. And to succeed, everyone's just going to start making their own crappy FPS games just to stay afloat.

    I know I said it before, but I seriously cannot wait until the FPS genre as a whole goes away and is replaced with something else.

    Sadly this game is nothing new and I feel as though I wasted my money. It may be worth it once its $20 because its essentially a map pack with a 4-5 hour campaign expansion as well.

    Don't waste your money on this really bad game. It's underdeveloped and made by the same old companies. Just don't get it. Multiplayer is the same **** every year. Overpowered guns, whimsy kids who have really bad parrants, and just general slow paced gameplay if you could even call it that.

The Bluetooth connection is choppy, joining friends is awkward and painstaking, and good luck getting into a lobby in under 120 seconds with more than 1 person in your party. Playercards, which were a fun way to customize your profile, have given way to juvenile images and banners. Combat record - the ability to track your recent games or compare your progress to that of your friends - will now cost you a $50 subscription to the Elite service. Multiplayer, the main reason many players buy this game, is a wholly unsatisfying experience. As opposed to being fun and addictive, it's frustrating and repulsive. Tonight marked the third time since buying the game that I've gotten fed up, ejected the game, and replaced it with my tried-and-true Black Ops disc.     The Multi-Player on this game is the worse in the series. When you compound the lag issues with the bullet damage, the game is just unplayable. I would not recommend this game to anyone.

    solo campaign is too short and repetitive, nothing seemingly changed from the previous versions. The multi player has terrible connection and always team me up with people with horrendous connections and rather than the specific player lagging it lags the entire server. The gun upgrade system is ridiculous and with the new maps and corner campers and balcony campers the multi player issolo campaign is too short and repetitive, nothing seemingly changed from the previous versions. The multi player has terrible connection and always team me up with people with horrendous connections and rather than the specific player lagging it lags the entire server. The gun upgrade system is ridiculous and with the new maps and corner campers and balcony campers the multi player is frustrating and unrewarding. It seems that those who play the most get the most which isn't really fair, a lot of people don't have time to play 5 hours a day, and don't want to. They need to find a system that rewards everyone rather than the dedicated hardcore. The other feature which is lacking which me and friends enjoyed very much is the option to play against bots in an offline format, this meaning we never play multi player together and therefore play different games. I liked black ops it seemed to have the right format for levelling up, if you didn't want to that was fine, but there was endless scope for upgrading should you want to. There is a reason it has a low score it's a poor game i thought 1 was too high but you can't do halves so i rounded down.… Expand

    Modern Warfare 2, I mean 3, is basically a decent game... however since MW3 basicly is a dlc to MW2, I cant justify the price. I rate this a 0 for greed.

People are giving negative reviews because the game is flawed and they refuse to acknowledge it. We are just giving honest reviews.

    Campaign: Wow, boring. The campaign is just like every other CoD game. Russia is the enemy and you travel to major cities to stop a WMD. After playing the unpredictable campaign of Uncharted 3, MW3's campaign is so predictable that it actually angers me.

    Spec Ops: Worthless because of the framerate problems, simply unplayable like multiplayer.

    I highly doubt that anyone tested this game on the PS3. Framerate sucks, support sucks, improvements to general gameplay are meaningless because the game doesn't run correctly. Overall, I would have to give this game a 0/10 because there is no option to rate it lower.    … Expand

    Welcome to the Madden of fps! Every year they release essentially the same game with a few tweaks and a bit more graphics and tell you that you gotta have it. And just like the Madden series, no matter how few new features there are people will still snap it up. Rent before you buy, make sure you actually want this game!

    Honestly the only reason i would get this game is because most of my friends got it. I rather just play black ops (The best COD) but now that i got Skyrim (best game that i have ever played on ps3) i have been playing that none stop since Monday and im still at the begining which is amazing. Thats actually worth 60 bucks mw3 is worth 29.99 at the most.

Stop your Twitter groveling Glen Schofield, your game deserves a "0", MW3 and Activision DESERVE it for disappointing MILLIONS of fans who were devoted countless single-player and multi-player hours into the Modern Warfare series to give us this rushed, tacked-on, copy-cat, sloppy, un-inventive, game that you dare to slap the "Call of Duty" mark on it. A little history about me: I've dropped easily hundreds of hours into MW2 multiplayer until all the hackers, quick-scopers, and all sorts of crap started showing up without a single patch to balance or fix the game and I dropped MW2, ticked beyond belief, and went to Battlefield instead. Black Ops brought me back with innovative and different feel and Zombies zombies zombies.
    Now here comes MW3, like your ex-wife/girlfriend who comes back into your life after so many years after your bitter break-up, now all dressed up in sexy clothing and make-up trying to seduce you back...and when you fall for the trap...BAM, you realize you got played...underneath it all you realize that you're dealing with the same BS that made you hate the wench in the first place!! That was the feeling I had when playing my first hours of both Single Player and Multi-Player.
    Some Lowpoints, to name a few: Lame single player campaign - "Lets chase Makarov around the globe, again and again storyline", Sequences are all rehash of MW2 sequences: bang bang, kill kill, sneak sneak, cheap deaths, many innocents die but we don't care, rehash AC-130 sequence, run run, someone "important" dies, boo hoo (not really), game over...all in a matter of a handful of hours where you simply...just...don't...care. Multi-Player - Spec Ops, rehash of single player, nuff said. Multi-player - Within THIRTY MINUTES of my experience, I got "quick scoped" over and OVER again!!??? ARRGHH!!! W...T...H!?? The cheap tricks are back!!?? They obviously DID NOT listen to the fans at all = Activision does not care about you. Strike packages are lame, especially the Support package which still REQUIRES kills to "support" your team. Kill streaks happen every 2 seconds with no breathing room. Multi-player maps are about 50% SMALLER in size it seems, where spawn-and-die is the recurring theme. There are no dynamics or good feel about ANY map that I have tried with any game type, and Kill Confirmed is a lame tack-on and forgettable.

    In summary, my buddies and I who ran and pwned both MW2 and Black Ops multi-player literally STOPPED playing after just two hours of BS on MW3 multi-player. We all owned BF3 and HANDS-DOWN find that it is a better, more in-depth experience that MW3 would ever HOPE to achieve. So Glen Schofield, you've made half a billion dollars off of your loyal and devoted fans, and yet here on Metacritic your game stands at a lowly 3 score. Take your money and run, Infinity Ward got it right when it left Activision in the first place.    … Expand

And multiplayer is just the same as it has been. You can kill people with like 2 bullets. I mastered the game in about 5 minutes. Oh wait but there's new killstreaks. Oooooo. Honestly, I'd recommend a shooter that takes SKILL to play such as halo or battlefield, because you will find NO satisfaction in this game unless you're 8. Why do people think there was going to be some type of breakthrough?? The graphics will always be similar to previous COD games on the PS3. The formula will always be the same. My only beef is that the stealth bomber looks bad and is weak. It is not worth 12 points. All in all it is a great game. It does what it's supposed to do. Don't change anything.     Sound quality is appalling. Game play is ok maps suck and interaction with objects in the map is horrible, when you shoot windows you hear glass break and pieces fly but the windows appearance doesn't change. You cannot climb on half the stuff you could even in mw2, not to mention blackops.. Wish I had listened to the reveiws and saved my $63.

    I dont understand the critics from the major companies....clearly Actavision wrote them a big fat cheque so that they would give it some sort of positive score. This game lacks everything its a COPY PASTA of MW2 what a joke and their charging us full retail price. This game sucks KEEP your money and instead play MW2........ Im going for a refund as we speak.

    Worst shooter ever. Same thing as COD 4. Battlefield 3 is better in every category. I could hardly play it for 2 minutes because it looks so terrible in comparison to Battlefield 3. This game is so dated, all it is now is a glorified cash cow. It preys on the masses of brain dead idiots who can't look for quality in a game.

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
