    MW3 was clearly a 60 dollar mappack to MW2 and it borrowed heavily from Black Ops. It's great in it's own right- the fact that people would annually dish out 60 dollars for the same rehashed game, and, all in all, it is good, basic, arcade fun. It will sell over 10 million.     This game would be a lot of fun for someone who's never played the series before, but if you've played MW2, it's simply not worth 60 dollars for a simple mappack/patch. Zero for low value and obvious greed on the publisher's part.

    this game just got old. nothing new just a expansion new weapons. Bf3 is way better. I broke my **** of doody disk. This game is not even that fun, its the same as black ops and mw2, i expected new engine and new weapons. but it only had new weapons but not as many, A lot of the weapons were recycled from Cod4, MW2, and Black ops. So don't get this game its terrible

    Terrible, I've been buying the same game since MW1! I'm getting a refund. Too much hype, dated graphics, forgettable story and gameplay. This is not worth your time, Do yourselves a favor and get battlefield 3 on PC instead.

    It's a shame this game could have been so much better. I've loved the COD games and have been a big fan. I feel like this game is the same ole stuff. They didn't raise the bar in my opinion. Battlefield 3 did raise the bar significantly and i will be playing that from now on. Most of the old staff wasn't even involved in making this new game. All the hype and then this, wow.     Damn this game sucks.. It's like you're playing cod4 lol!.. Every year a new COD but they are always 100% the same.. Same old engine.. What did they change? Add some perks? wow great.. It's like they released a big map pack.. They should go build a new engine, and make a NEW game..

    Same thing like Modern Warfare 2. I am getting sick and tired of the Modern Warfare series already. Little improvement is done to make the game better. If you played MW2 before, you are not missing anything much.

    same game for the 5th time this gen... until they make new engine new mechanics new everything it won't be worth **** worst part is they will milk you even more with their monthly map packs that suck anyway.. this is not the same IW i knew 5 years ago.. also all the high review scores were paid off.. nothing new here move on

    I gave this the benefit of the doubt and bought it in hopes that it would be better, but no, in fact, instead of being the same game over and over, they're getting worse. It's truly a horrible installment in a once stellar franchise

    I still cannot understand how people are actually dumb enough to buy the exact same game every year again. Even error messages of MW3 are talking about MW2, that's just a perfect example how much they changed. Graphics are dated, the story is a mess and gameplay hasn't changed or improved at all. Don't buy into the hype.

    The campaign was short. Its story was so generic that even a retarded child can make it. The graphics is worse than CoD4. The sounds are just recycled junk from old CoD all guns sounds like a toy gun. Its streak system become from worst to worstser(i know there's no such word). To make it simple. This game is a joke. Its a CoD4 DLC.. And Cod4 is much better. Save your money and buy other games.

    A game we've already seen. This is just a rehashed MW2. Enjoy buying your MW2 maps again and again. It's really saddening to see companies like this releasing the same game over and over again, with almost nothing new. Same graphics, same sounds, same gameplay. Maybe it's time to try doing something new?

    Modern Warfare 3 is the exact same game with a different name, terrible Campaign that you finish in 3 and half hours, with the most irregular irritating little maps that you literally spawn on your enemy's shoulders. The lack of vehicle's and broken class system creates a very very dry and plain experience. The visuals are still comparable to my PlayStation 2, voice acting and sound ofModern Warfare 3 is the exact same game with a different name, terrible Campaign that you finish in 3 and half hours, with the most irregular irritating little maps that you literally spawn on your enemy's shoulders.     Green oxidized copper all over the screen. Everything is green with the miserable post fx!
    The previous games in the series were miserable but this one is reaching new lows.
    Bf3 is 10000 times better than mw3! Do NOT BUY. I repeat DO NOT EVEN GET CLOSE TO IT!

They are trying to blind us through doing stuff like replacing zombies with 2 player co-op, new game mode and few new weapons model, but that's all. If you are going to get that game prepare for disappointment. Activision managed to sink all the way to the bottom of the sea one of the best FPS series in history of video games - Well done! From the king to the street beggar. I think it's time for CoD to retire for couple of years and come up with something new. Single player - stopping WW3 sounds great, you have the same characters (that didn't die) from previous version of MW. Map design is simple - get from point A to point B. Don't worry you won't get lost on the way. Guess why... CoD1 offered several different paths to reach objective and that's what should be restored! I don't care about fancy explosions!

    Multiplayer - its just map pack for MW2.

    Conclusion? Get different game because this one is worth only half of it's current price...    … Expand

    If you guys want a good, quality game, check out The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. There's a game that the developers actually put time into making, about 3 years. Not like each COD game taking less than a year to make, no wonder their quality is so terrible. It's sad that such a piece of junk like MW1.5 can sell millions and even more than games that outclass it like Skyrim. There are just too many mindless, stupid fanboys who enjoy shooting each other with new maps paying a $60 fee every year to do so.

    Blame the greedy publishers for trying to cut corners and not keep promises, they fired the core group of talented developers thinking they could just reinvent with cheaper labor and this is what you get, a game with little imagination, awful multiplayer maps, no flow and nothing original.

    This game is a rehash and its pretty much solidifying the fact that gaming is dying. Every year expect more and more of these things to come out, receive inflated scores by paid off reviewers, and for them to break all sorts of retail records. COD is the new Madden of our time, only difference is it changes even less between installments.

    I kind of expected the same game over and over with guitar hero. However with a shooter I didn't expect the same game copy/pasted with a 60$ price tag. However that's what I bought, thinking critic reviews actually meant something. Save your money, this is just Activision cashing out at the expense of their player base.

    I dont know what it is. But it seems that I have played this game year after year. I always liked the single player. But it sucked on the lengt. It sucked of all the glitches. It looked many time out dated. And there was not a good story in there. Multiplayer is just like blackops, mw2. mw1 with some improvements. But not as much good of a spec ops mode ass mw2. it did nor live up to the hype.

What was great about MW1 was it had a solid campaign mode and a great multiplayer feature. Its even more obvious that they really don't care about the campaign anymore. My brother beat the campaign in 4hrs. Really? 4hrs is the best you could do?
    I did play with my brother online for several hours so i could get a feel for it and I have to say I wasn't impressed. I definitely wasn't any more motivated to spend $60 on this. What bothers me the most is the idea that they're going to have new DLC every month. So from the start they're telling everyone that they selling an unfinished product. I can't imagine walking into a Carls Jr, paying full price for a hamburger and only getting half of a burger. Then when I ask for the rest of the burger they tell me that i have to purchase the rest in fourths but its ok because its a quarter of the price of what I originally paid. The worst part is that out of the DLC that I have purchased in the past is that there are usually only two maps that are any good.
    This game is definitely not worth paying $60 for. The value just isn't there. I can see paying $40 for a new copy, maybe....

    This game is Modern Warfare 2. This is the exact same game as MW2 which was released over 2 years ago. Except now you have even worse perks and maps. They didn't even bother to change the menus. This game is literally a cut/paste job so sheeple can feed Bobby Kotick's dick. If you truly want to give your money to Activision, buy this rehash. Meanwhile I rather play Battlefield 3.

Cant even give this points for effort since its clearly a ctrl-c ctrl-v game. all the maps seem to promote obnoxious camping gameplay and some of the guns are still overpowered beyond belief. Unless you're new to the CoD series then I wouldn't even bother with this.

    I just created a metacritic account for the sole purpose of letting people know how disappointed I am with MW3. This review is based only on the multiplayer, since that is the reason i bought this game. The lag is horrendous and I have a perfect connection, since with Black Ops I have no lag at all. The maps are the worst maps in any call of duty game out, and I have played them all. The maps are small and constricted which promotes tons of firefights immediately, but causes a HUGE problem with spawn killing, where it just makes me angry and really hate this game. The spawn points may be fixed down the road but currently it ruins the game. My next problem is with the stackable kill steaks that are never ending, and you are constantly getting killed by helicopters unless you use a perk to go undetected. I can honestly say, that even though the graphics are better, I would prefer to play black ops over this game just because it is more balanced and killing people just feels better since the hit detection is so much better. I have played BF2 and couldn't stand it, so I always stuck with COD games. Just about an hour ago I bought BF3 and have decided to give it another try. I have always prefers call of duty for it's 60fps and smooth gameplay, but that is no longer the case. MW3 feel incomplete and broken, and most my friends on Facebook are saying the same thing, so it's not just me. The only reason I am giving it a 0 score is because I want the call of duty franchise to realize that they have gone downhill, and are taking people's money based soley on all of the hype surrounding this game. I really do hope they learn from their mistakes, and come out with something better next year, or severely improve this game with updates. I understand a lot of bf3 fanboys have reviewed this game without playing it, but I assure you that I have played it, and I'm telling you to save your money unless they fix this broken game. Here's a list of things IW copied and pasted from MW2, as well as other problems. The sound effects: There is no difference what so ever. The explosions, which sounded like cartoon explosions in MW2, are the exact same. The voices (with one or two additions) are the exact same. They even say the same crap!

    The graphics: It looks exactly the same as MW2, with a few tweaks. Um, yeah, it's been two years, so the graphics are a little better, but they put forth no REAL effort. The maps: Almost every map that I've played is a copy of an MW2 map, with minor changes. Additionally, the maps have major design flaws. There are too many building and other places to camp. The maps are also too vertical. You shouldn't have to look up every second of the game because you're worried someone will shoot you from a window or railing. This is supposed to be a run and gun style game, but IW's map design begs people to camp. The hit detection: Without a doubt, the hit detection in this game is ATROCIOUS. I have to shoot people a minimum of 14 times (at close range), only to be killed by 2 shots in the shin. Excuse me? How can it be so incredibly bad? The answer is, I have no idea. Misc: There's splitscreen, but once again, Activision's developers are so lazy that you cannot sign into a second player's account on PS3. This is absolutely inexcusable.     I swear to god this is the exact same CoD I have been playing for the last 5 years! Nothing ever seems to change in this game including the predictable and unoriginal plotline. Multiplayer is literally a rehash, very few changes to it except for 2 game modes. People don't spen your money on this greedy developer's game so they can whither away.

    $60 is too much for a map pack. Stop beating the horse to death. I am so glad I didmt buy this game and that redbox only charged me $1.50 to play the 5 hour campaign. Seriously, if I wanted 5 hours of Michael Bay, I'd watch Transformers.

    Wow... This was the FIRST and LAST time that I purchase a Call of Duty game the day of release. The game seemed good, graphics amazing... The issue at hand for me is the people playing multiplayer... They are all camping like crazy... The disappointment here is that I read that the developers made the maps so it'd be difficult to camp. But, that is not so at all... It is even easier actually.

Sure there are a few new guns and the strike package system, but that has very little effect on the CORE gameplay. The core gameplay is exactly the same as the last one and the engine they're using is definitely dated compared to all other big releases this year. You instantly feel like you've played this game before. There is nothing fresh or innovative that makes this game feel "new." To me, this is an outrage. I am very disappointed in this title and to me, none of the minor additions to game warrant a $60.00 price tag. Simply because this does not feel like a new game, not in the least. That being said, I've already put this game up on my local craigslist and I'm selling it alongside the preorder poster hoping I will make my money back. If you are looking for a fresh and innovative experience I recommend you pick up something else, as there are plenty of title's who are far more deserving of your hard earned cash. I didn't want to believe it, but now I see what my friends meant when they were telling me Activision is only in it for the profit now.     Some of the buildings in MW3 are taken from MW1 !!! A SHAME !!! I played mw four years ago, and it's still the same boring game with no evolution !

    This game is absolutely terrible, if you're looking for a good shooter, I recommend Battlefield 3. Lots of little fanboys and infants that are in love with the series will cushion the score by voting 10/10, but in reality, the game deserves a 2.5/10 at best.

    Same game, different name... the maps on this game have taken a step backwards. To be honest, the maps on all call of duty games have been decreasing in quality since MW2. This game is definitely oriented toward a run and gun style. There is little resemblance to any form of actual military strategies. In short, save your money and play Black Ops because that is this game...

    Obviously the CoD formula has worked for them in the past but I feel that after so many years with no real innovation coming out of Infinity ward, it is time for them to move on and take a chance. Sure they are probably going to make a ton of money off the initial release but I am fairly certain they will not be able to sustain their sales like they have in the past. I think the only hope for this game is if they can release some top quality DLC for free, or some updates that actually help bring both the franchise and the genre forward.

    If you haven't purchased this yet, don't. Just throw in your copy of MW2 and you will be playing pretty much exactly the same game.    … Expand

    I'm sorry but i played this at my friends house and it was horrible, i seriously cannot begin to describe how mad i am at the developers for simply mixing previous call of duties up, throwing a couple of different things in there and selling it at full price while claiming it is a completely new product.

    I know it shouldnt bother me when people say this game is better than BF3 but it does. Its like comparing apples to oranges. One game is more of a campaign game, while the other is more for people who like realism and a well rounded game. MW3 is simply just another patch, that is all. Its very lazy to not add much more than a couple extra weapons. BF3 has MW3 beat on physics, sound,I know it shouldnt bother me when people say this game is better than BF3 but it does. Simply put a game where you have to lead and take gravity into play wins in the better game category. If i wanna play i quarter game ill go to the arcade.     we play that game a lot at 2009 now you make it only servers then you call it new game for just more $$.you can make all the new things as DLC for 10$ not new game .I will not lost my money for second time.I hate black ops servers not server in my **** I did't enjoy the online .now i feal the game just copy and paste.even the Grenades saunds like COD2 till now !!

    It's amazing to see how much has changed throughout the years in the gaming industry, but at the same time it is sad to see how meaningless the term innovation has become.
    The COD series are well known for their fast paced gameplay experience, a ridiculous addictive multiplayer and a descent singleplayer that will keep you going.

    There is nothing to say about this game and that's the main problem I have, it's been 5 years since the fourth entry in the series made its way to the seventh generation of consoles, and nothing but a dated engine with the same gameplay mechanics that have been recycled over the years make up for a good game in 2011.

    In conclusion, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is just another COD game that will have a one year life spam. All it's glory will be forgotten when the next entry will form part of the COD family, sadly this isn't good for gaming, and as a gamer myself I have to give what think this game deserves.    … Expand

    Compare the differences between both pairs of games. There is a HUGE AMOUNT of difference between cod3 and cod4, but barely any difference between cod4 and mw3. They have 4 games worth of changes and it still didn't amount to the huge amount of changes between cod3 and cod4. Do something like that, Infinity Ward, or Treyarch. This game is only good if you have never played any of the Call of Duty games before, otherwise IT IS THE SAME EXACT THING with about 6 changes. They even took buildings straight out of Call of Duty 4 instead of making new ones. It is an absolutely awful and cheap game that the developers probably spent about 1 week of their time on in the whole 2 years that they had to work on the game. The worst part about the game though, is the super crazy cod community who thinks that there is nothing better than cod, and they have no variety. It isn't just in video games either, these people are never trying anything new, they are the ones who complain about everyday things like food because they never try anything new. The worst part about these people is that they actually try to argue that this game is better than BF3. In some areas, yes, but overall BF3 is indefinitely and quite obviously the SUPERIOR game. I have played cod for a long time, but recently it has just been boring playing the same game over and over again, so I switched to Battlefield, and even BFBC2 is better than MW3. Don't waste your money, and don't pay attention to critic reviews, the good ones are all bought and paid for. This game is the same crud rehashed over and over again. I bet the developers didn't spend one week on this, maybe on the maps and re-skinning guns that they have probably had since MW2 but didn't put them in that because they decided they could make another game with it. Whether you like it or not, this game is going to get SUPER boring SUPER fast. I hope that this is the call of duty game where developers realize they can't be lazy, I hope the next cod game is as exciting as COD4, but... unfortunately, it probably won't. Hopefully this is the end of lazy work or the end of the Call of Duty series because as far as I'm concerned different people are getting credit for something done 4 years ago.    … Expand

    Really this game is Moder Warfere "3"; I cant believe its another game. It feels too much like MW2 DLC. The gameplay is equal, the history is very "cliche" and predictable, and the multiplayer is the same of the last 4 games... really? I think this "Call of Duty" will die like "Guitar Hero". I will save in my memory CoD 2 and 4. The others are only DLCs with a full-game cost.

    This game is horrible, you cant even create ranked custom games so that you can farm xp with your friends then be 12 years old and camp in corners and just win all day. How dumb. Also guys have guns and shoot at you, I need a game where the other players can't shoot back because I'm pretty bad.

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
