This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLDR: Not worth the money, buy it on sale. Not worth replaying. Decent campaign but nothing to do after.

The game was visually pleasing, and the story was pretty good. Going through the campaign took a decent amount of time, but that's where the good ends. The inability to go back and kill bosses after completing the campaign, the fact every dungeon is the same and that its the only thing to do leave it a repetitive mind numbing game with next to no replay-ability. When you compare D2 to D4 you really see the lack of replay-ability and creativity that went into the game.

Game is fun, but the always online causes me to have lag issues even when just playing solo. I also worry with Blizzards track record with Overwatch and Diablo immortal that this game with end up in more and more micro transaction hell as time goes on.

However at the moment I am having great fun with the game and playing with friends. I hope it does qdd more content later with future expansions

I recently had the opportunity to play Diablo 4, and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The game boasts some impressive features that truly make it stand out in the ARPG genre. While it does have a few shortcomings, it remains a captivating and entertaining title worthy of praise.

One of the highlights of Diablo 4 is its meticulously designed scenarios throughout the map. The world feels alive and immersive, with stunning visuals that add to the overall atmosphere. Exploring each location felt like an adventure in itself, as I uncovered hidden secrets and encountered challenging enemies.

The gameplay mechanics in Diablo 4 are top-notch. The combat is fluid and satisfying, offering a wide variety of skills and abilities to unleash upon hordes of demons. The endgame content provides a substantial amount of replayability, with various activities and challenges that kept me engaged long after completing the main campaign.

Speaking of the story, Diablo 4 delivers an engaging narrative that delves deep into the lore of the Diablo universe. The intricate plot twists and character development kept me invested in the overarching storyline, constantly craving to uncover more about the world and its inhabitants.

Lastly, while Diablo 4 offers a satisfying challenge, I couldn't help but feel that the game could have been more difficult, especially for seasoned players seeking a greater test of their skills. Implementing higher difficulty options or incorporating more challenging encounters would have added an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay.

The game have a few bug, server disconnections all the time.

After campaign, theres nothing. Endgame is nonexistant, you open wt4 at lvl60 and you wear bis within few lvls and lvling another 30+lvls is just pure boring pain without close to non progress. Theres no restriction and it drops randomly from literaly any mob in the game. Harder content (NM dungeons) dont gie better gear nor more XP, so its worthless. Whole "engame" in D4 is just like Baal run, without Ball at the end. You just kill random mobs anywhere you like and hope to win in lottery, cuz affix pool of items is bloated by useless stuff so getting 3 or 4 good one is just very rare. And then you get hit by fullrandom ilvl.

And its even worse. If you dare to speak about yout bad game experience on bnet or reddit, you gets banned/silence. Cuz bluzzard needs to keep illusion of perfect game. D4 on metacritic wasnt review bombed, its just out of blizzards reach so it wasnt properly silenced.

Trust me this game is predatory as is the company, who will ignore refund requests even after reaching out multiple times. Just had to charge back my CC. Don’t try this game unless you want it to be yours forever. As well, they block constructive criticism on Blizzard forums and flood it with blizz shills who are all still in the honeymoon phase. Biggest issue is that they are doing a seasonal reset a month after the games release? When all the hype has died down and people are considering new games, then they release the seasons pass and do a reset. Most companies release a game with a new season and ability to earn battle pass tiers right away. Plus a level reset right after people just did a grind through the slog fest of a campaign and laughable endgame. At points I did enjoy this game but it gets stale really fast with boring skills and auto, auto, auto, core ability gameplay, no impactful boss fights save Lilith and the list would go on. Save your money or buy a game where you can have fun, which is what a game is suppose to be about. Expand

    Premier gros point noir donc.

Diablo 4 is the Star Citizen version of Diablo. There really is not much in the game to enjoy. Less features than D3 after nearly a decade of development. Just like #StarCitizen.

The game is a 4/10 at best.

    -No LFG system
    -Dead chat channels
    -No map notes
    -Extremely small loot table
    -Limited endgame options
-DPS "Buckets" that are really just redressing the exact things over and over again with different names. I have no idea why reviewers are falling for this clear b.s. as "innovative" when it is in fact lazy.
    -Clunky trading, no auction house
-"Random" world events that all spawn in the same locations and are all the same things over and over again
-World Bosses that are just loot piñatas that take 10 minutes of hitting and no skill or coordination whatsoever
-A large map but over half of it is impenetrable by trees, cliffs, or other obstacles. They made it large and call it open world when really you are so confined that it feels like you're always on a set of rails.

And the worst part is the very clear set up they've got for Battle/Season Passes and future microtransactions. I've never seen a game with so many currencies. Again, I am baffled that people are lying to their readers and themselves with the clear deception from Blizzard that this will only ever be cosmetic.

Diablo 4: lots of potential, so-so story with a severely underwhelming end boss fight, and extremely long on promises and short on production.

    4/10

Frankly, it needs the No Man's Sky treatment to ever attain the acclaim so many seem to be heaping onto it.

With its rich lore, atmospheric world, and addictive gameplay, it is a worthy addition to the series. However, while the game excels in many aspects, it occasionally suffers from moments of sluggishness and monotony.

One of the standout features of Diablo IV is its captivating and dark fantasy setting. The game's art direction and visual design are masterfully executed, painting a grim and hauntingly beautiful world. From eerie dungeons to sprawling outdoor landscapes, each area is meticulously crafted with attention to detail. The atmosphere is enhanced by atmospheric sound effects and a haunting musical score that immerses players in the haunting realms of Sanctuary.

The gameplay mechanics in Diablo IV offer a satisfying blend of hack-and-slash combat, character progression, and loot acquisition. The diverse classes each offer a unique playstyle, encouraging experimentation and providing ample replay value. The visceral combat and the thrill of finding powerful loot create a sense of constant progression and reward.

However, one area where Diablo IV falls short is pacing. The game occasionally suffers from slow moments and repetitive gameplay loops, which can lead to moments of boredom. While the initial exploration and questing are engaging, there are instances where the game's pace slows down, making it feel like a grind. It is in these moments that the game could benefit from injecting more dynamic events or a greater variety of quest types to keep the player engaged and excited.

Despite the occasional lulls, Diablo IV's narrative is compelling and serves as a driving force throughout the adventure. The game's darker tone and mature storytelling present a captivating tale of ancient evils, personal vendettas, and the fight for salvation. Engaging cutscenes and well-written dialogue breathe life into the diverse cast of characters, making them feel like more than just quest-giving entities.

Multiplayer and cooperative gameplay add another layer of excitement to Diablo IV. Teaming up with friends to tackle challenging dungeons or engaging in intense player-versus-player battles can be a thrilling experience. The cooperative play fosters a sense of camaraderie and adds longevity to the game beyond the single-player campaign.

Diablo IV's graphics and performance are top-notch, with detailed character models, stunning spell effects, and smooth animations. The game's technical aspects contribute to the overall immersive experience, allowing players to fully appreciate the dark and foreboding world they inhabit.

In conclusion, Diablo IV is a welcome addition to the beloved franchise, offering a dark and immersive adventure that captures the essence of the series. While occasional moments of sluggishness and monotony hinder the overall experience, the captivating setting, addictive gameplay mechanics, and engaging narrative make it a standout title. With some fine-tuning to address the pacing issues, Diablo IV has the potential to become a truly exceptional game that satisfies both long-time fans and newcomers to the Diablo universe.

now to the horse.. who the F developed this trash thing? u can ride for 10 seconds before u bump into a bush, or u have to dismount because there is a god damn wood barrier infront of you which your horse cannot jump over.
then there is the so called "endgame" beginning at WT3 with NM dungeons, which are basically useless to farm until you are WT4 because every single piece of gear with a higher item lvl is better than what you are currently wearing.. so u better grind some useless dungeons to get to lvl 70 fast, so u can actually play the "endgame".
oh wait, the best thing is they FORCE you to play helltides because otherwise u cant even minmax your gear or even reroll stats on it. i love it.
in 2023 u cant even search ur stash for item names, or apply any filter at all, i have to scroll through a huge amount of useless legendary items because they get put into ur stash after a dungeon when u dont pick them up.
no gem stash? ur inventory is filled with this trash. enjoy vendoring after every dungeon.

And then, they have the gall to design seasons to make players start from scratch. The whole point of seasons is to offer variety to ARPG players, but leveling and gearing in this game are designed to be such an enormous slog that no sane player would love grinding out a new character every season. Given the base design, it simply does not mesh with the concept of seasons. They'd either have to seriously smoothen out the leveling curve or increase drop rates given the lack of trading.

But based on how the devs are reacting to these concerns, I believe they have neither the IQ nor the willingness to reflect. The Blizzard house is but a ramshackle shell of its former self. Just full of WoW morons who won't be able to support the groaning structure with their "inside-the-WoW-box" thinking.

In the case of this game, I trusted the initial (players) reviews, which saved me some money. This time, unfortunately, I trusted the (certainly paid by Blizzard) "professional critics" and did a preorder. Assuming that the game, after all, could not be somehow nightmarishly bad, since the creators of Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 worked on it for 10 years.

Such thinking turned out to be a big mistake, with one positive aspect. No more preorders, ever, for any game, even if the "pros" give it 100/100. As for Diablo 4 itself, I don't think I'll say anything revealing here. Shallow story, absolutely horrendous level scaling. This means that after each entry to a higher level, items previously acquired become almost useless. Not to mention that for a level 40 character, the loot is level 30 or lower and so on.

There are also 5 or 6 types of different dungeons in the game, the going through of which can be compared to scanning accounting documents by hand all day. In other words, the game is boring. But not simply boring, but monstrously boring. I played it for about 35 hours, then I was not able to persuade myself to run it again. And yesterday I just uninstalled it to make room on the disk for something to entertain me.

Oh, I would have forgotten! This game, for which Blizzard wants $70, also contains all the hated elements of free-to-play games. That is, the need to stay online, microtransactions (very expensive) and Battlepass. All in all, it's been a long time since I played such a terrible H&S. Worse were probably only Wolcen and Pagan - Absent Gods, one and the other I uninstalled after 5 hours. However, I think that if I had paid $70 for any of these games, I probably would have forced myself to play for 35 hours, like these D4. Any gamer who values his money, time and nerves should stay away from D4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game deserves a zero. Diablo fans disappointment once again for the third time in 10 years.

Now blizzard only makes game to sell microtransactions to little kids by getting them addicted. The game is simpler and simpler going from d2, to d3, to D4. Offline Zelda will give more replayability and excitement than this. In 25 years of diablos since d2, this series has regressed in every way.

    -No trading
-Cannot replay campaign bosses.. wow.. -Zero innovation, d2 classes copy pasted

This game doesn't have a beginning, middle or endgame. You beat the campaign once in 7 hts and go straight into grinding with no change afterwards.

Lilith is a mind numbingly boring villain too Zero out of 10, for no innovation, but -1 for regressing again.

For starters we have the usual five classes ( which will probably rise to seven subject to paid dlc ), many classes then in my opinion are absolutely unbalanced, at least at the time of writing this review

The map......, big, very big, evocative, graphically very nice, but it has led to a redesign of the game, having a single map and no longer the acts makes the enemies level with your pg, practically at the beginning of the game a goblin will require five hits to be taken down, at level 50 it will always require five hits, this makes the game tedious in the long run, which is why the horse was introduced, so you can directly skip the very long fights, not to mention then the continuous respawn, and I say continuous, even around you as if the game was a low-level mmo, variety not coming, really, in the old D2 the maps were randomly constructed, here having a single map clearly we should play all classes on the same map, but at least the dungeons? no even those all very very similar to each other

Chapter "skill tree," that's all? I mean, it's the ones from D3, exactly the ones from D3, put on a kind of simple tree, where you can then by paying trifling amounts of money, change them ( to try them all ) over and over again, it looks like something out of a mobile game.

Then we always have the usual two socket item with the usual gems and skulls where the return of "runic words" would have been desirable

No more followers or companions other than the ones the game gives you because of story requirements, so no management, no choice, no nothing, however you can ride a horse, wow

At the moment the only thing I save about the game is the graphics, always very well done and the story, for the rest I wonder what Blizzard has been doing all these years

In my humble opinion a simple game aimed at the new generation rather than the old, where moreover they will bet everything on the seasons ( paid )

Great story, fun game play for a while (if you were playing a good build) and while not perfect I kind of wish it stopped there because the endgame is not a fun grind. Unlike previous Diablo games this one feel sluggish and you constantly feel under powered (unless you are playing one of the few solid builds). This is a fault of taking the easy way out and using level scaling.
The endgame content gets extremely repetitive, and since the 10th nerf patch has hit it's even worse. The class skills are not balanced (even after 10 patches). Experience gains in the end game are extremely slow (or feel it given how dull the grind is). The loot is mundane and you will go hours without finding something worth using. The live service, pvp, and lack of interesting loot has dulled an overall good experience. I would rather have the game unbalanced with fun loot than balanced with mundane and dull loot. I'm afraid the target is the later.'

To fix this they need to offer players better loot and allow players to be powerful, instead of making the game balanced and longer you should have players feeling the items they get let them be unbalanced and cool as hell. What is currently in place is so boring nothing is exciting or useful.

My opinion is based on more than 500 hours of play.
    Too much lag and bug.
    No local co-op.
The prices are super exaggerated for lousy cosmetics.
    PvP is useless
Some physics issues and spell with the Necromocian
The only positive point is the atmosphere which goes back to the fundamentals of Diablo 1 and 2.

So, I will start with the lesser problems and work to the worst ones.

First issue we come across, is the story. Which, in fairness, is actually pretty good at the start. However, the final acts of the game feel a bit rushed in terms of the story beats. The quests themselves feel dragged out, which is fine, I could deal with that is the payout is worth it. But as it is we end up going from struggling to find the main villain to killing her way too quickly, at least if you sit down and do the story in 1 or 2 sessions.

Next issue, continuing in line with the theme of story. The characters. Not player ones, but the villains and "heroes" of the story. Who are with the exception of 2 or 3 of them, are pulled right out of the generic character handbook. Calling them 2 dimensional would be generous. The second main villains only character traits are that he is a coward and doesn't want to die. There is literally nothing else to him. I can't even remember his name to put here he is that boring, I mean the pale guy who freed Lilith.

Now, moving on to gameplay issues. Oh boy are there a lot of them. Now, unlike most here, I will not complain about the level scaling. The level scaling is okay imo. Not prefect, but it's okay. Especially when there is far worse to worry about.
The classes. Where too many abilities are either useless or completely pointless. I'll give you an example of this, playing a blood based Necromancer I naturally looked at the blood ultimate, Blood Wave, an aoe ability with a near minute long cooldown, meant to feel OP just for that one ability, but... It's not actually any stronger than my main spammable resource using ability called Blood Surge, also an aoe that actually hits more enemies than Blood Wave due to a large circle around me than a straight line in front of me like Blood Wave.

Moving on, we next find issues in the classes special abilities. Now, I can't speak for most of them, but I have tried both Necro and Sorceress to quite a high level and... There are no true options as such. The line "As wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" would be fitting. You are forced into 1 or 2 options because everything else is just useless.

Aspects, so, on the surface I see nothing wrong with aspects. However... Certain playstyles get ignored on ones you can collect from dungeons, forcing you to use playstyles that you don't like or wait until you get the one or two aspects by RNG to play the style you want until that gear is just that outlvl'd that you have to switch for survival again.

The repetitiveness. So, nearly everything is literally just doing one of three variations for every activity. Dungeon? One layout per dungeon and most dungeons using the same layout as 5 others, sometimes mirrored to try and trick you into thinking it's different. All of these dungeons following one of a few patterns of "Collect x item and place it here" or "Kill x mobs for animus and place it here" Random zone events? 90% of the time you'll be defending some random npc from waves of mobs which go in this pattern every single time normal mobs>normal mobs>normal mobs with an elite>normal mobs>normal mobs>event boss. Even if you don't have to defend an npc, that pattern is the same. I'd go through more, but you're probably seeing much the same pattern here as I did.

Levelling. It's slow. Made to feel slower by the amount of times you'll be doing repeated content to the point of tedium. And this has been admitted to be intentional. The developers have called reaching the level cap "Aspirational" and said it's not something that they expect or even want people actively going out of their way to do.

The UI: It's just bad. There is a lack of customisation, a lack of info in some places and just feels waaay too big for anything less than a huuuge tv. It's awful. Example of this is the skill tree, where you can see 1/5-1/6th of it on average. Despite not having enough abilities in that small an area to justify the amount of space it uses.

And now, finally, we get to the first issue I encountered and it's am issue shared by a good chunk of others. The zoom level and fov (google "Diablo 4 too zoomed in, you'll see what I mean about others)
They designed the game around ultra widescreen without any true zoom options. Meaning if you play on a standard monitor or TV you look really far zoomed in and can't see as much of the screen as you should be able to. Leaving you feel super far zoomed in and feeling like you're constantly being loomed over by every single piece of scenery while not being able to see the full scenery. Or in most cases any scenery beyond what it right on top of you. It is terrible.

If you're wanting a main game? Go play one of the older Diablo games, they're better.
If you're planning to play once then quit? This game is probably fine for you

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is just incredibly bland and boring. The tubing of nothing makes sense, everything that makes Diablo the games they are is made worse for a lackluster pseudo mmo experience.

From the boring itemization, dungeons, and lack of story resolution of any plot points, to the walking everywhere. The game manages to be too easy while not making you feel strong or awesome. The bosses are dpa sinks, that drop so much health you can do most of them without moving at all even as a squishy mage with glass Canon and crappy gear.

The story doesn't resolve anything while being nonsensical, the characters make stupid choices and claim various stupid reasons as motivations that are hard to believe.

Theyy added a lot of "content" but it is boring, tedious content just to make you waste time most of all. Mounts are a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. Teleport points are terribly distributed. Not to mention that mounts are bugged and often slow you down instead.

    Items are just unfun.

They made this big map, which, for me, had the ironic effect of making the world feel small. You walk from city to city fairly fast, from desert to moh tain peaks.it feels like you could easily see the city you came from at any exotic locations, if the isomorphic view wouldn't prevent it.

Still I went back to my druid and powered through it and now after trying all the classes I think I would say that the druid has a special place in my heart. Micro-transactions are in the game but the game doesn’t push it on the player. Graphically the game is beautiful. I’m so glad Blizzard went back to the Diablo 2 style atmosphere rather than sticking with Diablo 3 with WoW style graphics. Storyline is okay and has some really cool moments. Im glad that the word “nephilim” wasn’t repeated every 5 minutes as it was in Diablo 3. The musical score is great. Not amazing but it’s great. It has some epic moments at certain points in the cutscenes but it can get annoying in some parts of gameplay.

The point here is that the ui is more adjusted for consoles. It lacks the possibilities like scaling and the display of specific data like character statistics is terrible (even on an 42 inch Monitor you have to use the scrollbar to get parts of the stats. So even you have enough place on screen you still do not see much)

Some other obvious problems like to have to click for amounts or have to execute additional clickin even the needed tabs are obvios (like with the sigils where you select to destory them and have to open the sigil overview) do no make it comfortable. Why we need to have that many tabs? No one knows but probably Blizzard want a statistik how many times you klicked a tab...

This is also on many other levels the case, why do you don't see when the world boss spawns? No one knows you have to track it else no world boss event, although spawn timers ingame are everywhere.

The graphics and sound are fine, no need to worry about that and the story is not game braking but still ok and within an arpg not a real issue if you do not expect something new.

What is of an issue is the current state of the classes. They are not bad, the skill tree offer a lot of possibilities with the big remark, that not everything you can choose, will lead you to be able to handle the end game content. In the end there are only a few builds per class that stands out at the end, because the rest can't hold up.

And here is the question why we get a lot of skills which simply do not work as they lack the necessary aspects or uniques to remain valid for the endgame. Most probably because the game was rushed.

Aside of that there is also the problem with the balance of the classes. It seems that to be honest there is no balance and some builds are overpowered where others simply too weak. Blizzard started to fix this but publihing a game with open world, pvp and ladders is... There is simply the question if this was really a good move and now the qustion is more how fast can they fix it. Not really a good feeling for the seasons as this will most probably be not ready until then

Addtionally to the above some of the functions like mounts are really bad in design, you ride like a cartdriver where you bump all the time on tires or at worst can't move at all. Only an example there are some others like to have run all the time through the town because all the needed characters are on all directions. Why? no one knows, the towns are not huge so the way is not huge but still you are running from left to the right and you get the feeling someone wanted you to do so because it would looks like the town is more alive when some people doing all the run again and again.

All of this is not that of an issue but is something that upset players. Looking at the World itself it is fine and the overall presentation is also ok. The part which has a lot of questions why it is feeling so useless at the endgame. World bosses are fine and they make it an alternation but they are only a gear supplier, the same like helltides or the wonderous tree. Where it gives the player alternatives to farm because one of the parts in endgame is max stats gear and the other the glyph leveling system, it feels like the more useless part as the dungeons also provide the same loot and then they provide simply additionally the other part.

Now the glyphs can be leveled only in dungeons and looking at this there is the question why only there and not also in the open world. By all means this limitation seems to be simply a forcing decision to do this content as mandatory. Although it should be mentioned that it is a lot of grind and everyting from level 60+ on seem to be pointing in this direction it looks as it should be somthing more to do than this for 40 levels.

This leads to the next point where all this maxing process is a huge grind, you won't see something new at this point as you are leveling the glyphs. This is fine for those who want to test their builds on the maximum content for dungeons but it is a repetitive loop with no real change. All your skills and setup is done, no other then to run the dungeons up to level 100.

So will the seasons have enough content to keep the players interested to make this grind again and again. A big question mark on this. Overall it is a solid game but it still lacks a lot of improvement and quality of live. The overhyped press results are not really helpfull in my opinion as they state mostly what shines but a review should be more then looking what is fine.

    The rating was adjusted by

-1 for the ui not really PC valid
-1 for the build limitations on classes because of missing gear choice
-1 the imbalance on classes and group play
-0,5 grind factor at higher tiers but no further evolution of gameplay
-0,5 content seems rushed and unfinished

May I ask, with all due respect,
when will we see more content? Or more world tiers? More legendary aspects and uniques?
Do we have to wait until late July to see changes?

Cause right now, not gonna like we have a community with almost 1,000 players and its dying drastacally fast because of the lack of content, even big time diablo 4 streamers in our region stopped playing now. They play Hearthstone or Apex now.

    * End game is lack luster to say the least, we have some positive news in this regard making nightmare dungeons reward more experience and direct teleport's to nightmares.

    * A lot of Quality of Life is missing once you hunker down and want to farm, and comments made lately we will have to wait at least till season 2 before we can expect any changes in this regard since season one is already in quality assurance stage, and will not receive additional features added to it.

    * Itemization is weird, clunky and uninspiring once you understand the sheer magnitude of combinations each item can have with no actual way to tip the scale in any way (we can reroll a single stat but this is also as much luck as getting a good item to begin with). I sincerely hope this is something Blizzard is working on because right now its all just 100% random whom drops what, trash mobs drop exact same items as elite monsters and bosses, at lower rate but you kill an overwhelming amount of trash so pretty much ratio in a dungeon might be tipped more in trash monsters favor.

Niveau I : Boule de neige.

Story is good, gameplay is boring and repetitive. Classes are the most boring and shallow I've ever seen and often have only 1 or 2 viable builds for endgame/tough content. Almost no potential for build making on account of classes being so shallow.

Leveling is slow. Always online, forced multiplayer for a singleplayer game. All the downsides of multiplayer with none of the benefits.

The fact that development took so long and the final product turned out so meager and boring is quite surprising. I can’t imagine this game having the legs that parts 2 and 3 have. It’s just too shallow, and the world design itself isn’t enough to keep people interested. All in all, a terrible game and a complete waste of time and money.

If you're a sorcerer, you're going to be running frost nova, flame shield, and ice armor on any sorceress build. There are only three endgame viable builds for the sorceress also: arc lash, ice shards, and fire wall. Forget using frozen orb, fire ball, charged bolts, chain lightning, or blizzard. They are just too weak. The enchantment system on the sorceress is just wildly unbalanced also. You'll be running fire bolt just to burn things so that you do more damage to them on any build. Some other big issues are the fact that monster scaling feels bad, item level requirements constantly increase as you level, and the quality of life is horrid. Monsters scaling makes it so that you never really feel powerful. The monsters are always increasing in difficulty as you level. It makes it so that you can play with friends of all levels, but it comes at a big cost. You'll see your level 10 friends killing things faster than you. You also lose out on the sense of power progression that you get from other ARPGs. Item level requirements that constantly increase feel terrible. The game basically has three tiers of items. Sacred and ancestral items come with set level requirements, but then they continue to scale up to your level when dropped. This feels bad as items I am finding now all have a level 85 requirement on them even though they are not more powerful than items I was finding at level 60. The item level requirement scaling makes trading rares terrible, gearing alt characters almost impossible, and it ruins being able to give friends rare items that would be good for them. My other big issue with the game is the lack of quality of life. It feels like they just rushed the game out after the campaign was polished and they threw in some endgame activities. The game lacks basic features like being able to search in your stash and having a place to store your gems. It also lacks social features like being able to talk in a global channel or being able to queue up for group activities. There is no loot filter either, so finding upgrades at higher levels becomes extremely tedious. You also have to run to nightmare dungeons, but a fix for that is supposedly coming within a few weeks. Overall, Diablo 4 just isn't worth the money right now. The campaign is okay, but ARPGs are known for their replayability at endgame. Diablo 4 completely misses the mark in this area due to the reasons above. I would recommend that you wait to purchase this game for probably a year or so. They may address some of the bigger issues by then. Expand

Let's be honest, this is a game from Activision, the most vile and evil company in gaming and in the world. They released this game with pre-reserved content for Seasons and Expansions, despite upcharging the game. That alone says all you need to know. They view the game 100% as a product to reel people in and not as a 'vision' or an experience. If you watched the developer interviewers, it was pretty easy to see that not one of them had any real passion for the game they were developing.

Now here's the kicker. They released the game with the 'end game' Dungeons proving pretty much no benefit at all, and are quite tedious with many dead ends, walking time, town time, horse time, etc. These are endgame Dungeons that provide the same amount of XP and Items on level 1 as on level 40. Which of course proves they didn't test or play their game at all.

Instead of proving they care about the game by doing something simple like adding an XP equation to the Dungeons, they 'maximized' on the situation by arrogantly saying 'it's something we will fix when you play our next season'. Literally all they have to do is open a coding document, and apply a simple equation that involves Dungeon levels.

They have literally only nerfed things since the game started. They don't care about a user feeling powerful, they care about SLOWING everybody down, so everybody has to spend more time in game. They LITERALLY took the servers offline for 1 hour so they could 'ninja patch' every town so the vendors, stashes, and other necessities were much farther apart. All to 'train' their 'clients' to get used to spending 4 hours in the game to get that 20 minute dopamine fix most ARPGs simply hand out.

    - The title of the game should be: Lillith 1, not Diablo. He's not there. This felt more like an expansion to Diablo than Diablo itself. And people might say: yes but this is just the beginning. That's like going to a restaurant and paying for starters, dinner and dessert and then only getting starters and having to wait for your dinner until whenever Blizzard decides so.

    - The writing is done by the same writers of Dora the Explorer. It get's awfully boring at times, nothing exciting. Except maybe the end had some good arcs in it. Did the writers never hear of "show, don't tell". There's something denigrating about telling an audience that a door's locked when they can see that door, being locked. Or characters summarising what just happened for you, like you're incapable of deducing the story line yourself. And evil characters explaining the evil plot to you which couldn't have been thought of otherwise. Though, Mephisto's lines were pretty nice. I miss Meph.

    - Don't do level scaling.

    - Too many side quests are like "incentivized" exploration. At least have main and side quests somewhat in the same ball park, leave the rest of the region with findables etc. That's fine.

That being said, not a waste of money but not a good deal either? It's in the middle. Having played all Diablo games from the very first one I can't say this is really Diablo besides all the legalities. Yes it bears the same name, yes it have the same "look" yes it's made by Blizzard but at some point thing evolves so much it loses it's essence for something else. And that's all right but don't presume to think it's the same thing, it's not.

Aspects should be deleted and used as passive something similar to cunai d3 with low dmg default not increased like highest roll so build don't depends on that like d3 sets, that now is very bad .. Make more uniq so replace legendary so we can have somewhat chase items and normal healthier looting where we will look forward to..
and now I started to play alt druid and found out that game is not finished not all skills have legendary aspects and uniq items .. So you cant make build the way you want .. and on top of that vurnable makes it even less possibie to make something else.. Necro minion the worst thing..
I would give this game 5 buts its unfinished cant play what i want like they promised, cause they don't have all aspects and uniq items for everything .. so 3 out 10

Game is basically still a beta. Endgame is boring and uneventful.

I wrote a longer review with details but it got deleted because there must be a huge PR push because they probably think it's being review bombed.

Give this game 2-3 years to mature and then it'll maybe be a 5-7.

It's better in some aspects (classes are a bit more mechanically distinct, world offers exploration, graphics), but RPG side feels like a significant downgrade.

The biggest sin is you're getting weaker as you level up. Until you complete your build stats and upgrades don't really matter, because individual skills will be hitting for less and less (relative to monster HP).

Second worst thing is the world feels like an MMO, which demolishes the atmosphere the visuals/sounds build. The way monsters and event respawn. The way random players run past you. The way you gain more barely significant stats by looking for altars. It screams MMO/Ubisoft open world game. Even dungeons despite looking different and having slightly different layout feels generic. Get in, kill X amount of enemies (sometimes find a key or interact with 2 objects), kill boss, at the very end, get out.

Gameplay style is pretty slow, as on most builds because the game throws hordes of enemies at you and you're stuck building a resource using weak single target attacks just to use a moderately stronger AoE twice.

Item stats are too specific without rewarding you for meeting conditions. 6% damage reduction from enemies far away. 3% damage increased on Crowd Controlled enemies. 2% critical chance. 6% critical damage increase. What the hell is this? I get not bloating the numbers, but at this point I get the same damage boost by just levelping up and equiping a higher level item than I get by equipping 3 perfect stats.

Skills themselves feel nice to use, but skill upgrades are boring. 20% chance to apply Vulnerability (20% damage increase) on target for 2 seconds, which is like 4% average damage increase. You can use those to build damage, if you apply vulnerable, are far enough for distant damage modifier, it's full moon and you're facing east in real life.

Classes aren't all born equal. Druid for example feels terrible to play, because they damage output is mediocre until late in the game, when compared to other classes and that is ignoring the fact that "build" don't really work at all until very late in game.

This is not diablo 2 formula, where a few good stats improve your performance. You need to use buffs, synergies and unique items to make anything work and because of that builds just don't come together until pretty late in game. All meaningful buffs last 2-4 seconds and to maintain them you either need uniques, paragon tree (50+) or more lucky hit chance than is possible to hit early on. Vast majority of skills rely on gear you will not have to offer a fluid gameplay. For example: I love the idea of playing a frost sorcerer, but those skills have pretty much no AoE. There are ways to give it AoE using critical hits (more than early game offers), lucky hits (not critical hit) and legendary items, but until then I'd be stuck killing 1 target at a time.

Finally, I thought monetization was fine (even if cosmetics are pricy), until they announced Premium Battlepass. The game is mediocre and I wouldn't want to burn out forcing myself to grind the FOMO pass, but it looks like it'll happen, and I'll have to pay to unlock rewards I already earned. With that said I immediately docked a point on my rating.

    Enemy Scaling & Combat:
I played through the story with some side quests on a medium paste I guess.
Since the enemies scale with your level, you run into some issues. After a certain level, your level up does give you less power than it makes enemies more spongy. Much of your power comes from synergy of legendary items. If you don't get these items for 5 levels, you suddenly need four times longer to kill a group of 5-10 enemies which you killed quite fast as a fresh character at level 6.

You can at least respec for gold but it is too expensive for try and error if you are not the synergy-min-max-genius.
So the fights itself feel tedious and boring. But after finishing the story that is the only thing which is left imo.

    OpenWorld:
Again, feels fine during the Story, but after that you see the flaws. I did not count the different events but they feel repetitive and uninteresting it's either waves or waves with collection of remains....
Also due to the scaling problem you are clearing events slow and then a low level rando comes by and kills the mobs faster. That feels just odd.
On other occasion you struggle with the event than 4 people rush in and you contribute nothing. If I wanted that, I would have created a group.

So if you expect PoE or Diablo 3 style of long term engagement, maybe wait for season 3 or 4.
At least they take feedback seriously.

It is one of the most meandering slogs of a game I have played in many years.
Lacking in finesse and creativity, it's a homogeneous romp through an ARPG that entirely lacks in re-playability.
The main campaign is slow and unfocused, with only the boss fights as highlights in an otherwise boring main quest with at best a mediocre story, that was mostly un engaging and amateurishly underdeveloped. Your average modern entertainment slop attempting to recapture the essence of past successes while towing the line to keep Actiblizzions ESG score up in the face of still relevant controversies.

The endgame fares no better, post 50 your leveling pace will be quartered as every level in now 4 in 1. So you had better enjoy the myriad barebones dungeons which mostly follow the same basic template of non-contextualized standardised objectives to progress towards one of the 10 or so generic boss fights, that are of a much lower quality compared to the bosses in the main quest.
It is almost as bare bones as it gets. And the absence of the objective would only make the dungeons better at this point.

Alternatively you could engage in open-world checkbox gaming, like repeatable bounties such as kill enemy type in area, click on thing to spawn an elite/champion, click on four things in an area, participate an event encounter (protect civilians hiding under carts, protect generic NPC that isn't hiding under a cart, different flavours of kill enemies in the event radius etc.) and gather essence balls from slain enemies to spawn three elites at a vending pillar. The reward for completing enough of these is a loot bag containing 4 elites worth of loot and some materials along with a chunk of xp.

If that isn't your cup of tea you can finish the area renown system, which is discover waypoints, complete side-quests (most of which are filler and all are disappointing lacking any meaningful rewards), uncover the area map, do all the boring dungeons, find altars of lilith (moderately hidden statues that give you a pittance of extra stats) and complete the strongholds. These are probably the most interesting as they are bespoke overworld micro dungeons, though the activities offered aren't all that interesting, they are at the very least unique. Shame that there is only three per act.
This system is mandatory as this is where you get your extra skill and paragon points.

There are also the helltides, in which demons invade an area and you kill them for a temporary currency to open chests containing generic items but with a good chance of legedaries. Helltides spawn special crafting mats and are therefore mandatory.

You might also run into an event marker for a world boss, which look good but are very easy and boring to fight and seem to give no special rewards. Just more of the same as everything else in the game.
Though since launch I have only fought a single one so they are easy to miss.

I have only gone over a fraction of the fundamental issues plaguing this game, and 5/10 feels generous after writing this. The zeroes and tens that are spammed here are clearly not born of nuanced opinions but review bombers and blizzard defence force guys jousting.

While it may not be without its flaws, the game manages to capture the essence of the Diablo universe and offers a satisfying journey for both new and returning players. Here's why Diablo 4 deserves recognition for its notable improvements and potential to evolve.

One of the standout aspects of Diablo 4 is its dark and atmospheric world. The game's visuals are impressive, featuring detailed environments that effectively convey the foreboding nature of Sanctuary. From eerie forests to desolate wastelands, each location feels distinct and adds depth to the overall experience. The attention to detail in the art design and atmospheric effects creates a moody ambiance that immerses players in the grim and treacherous world.

Combat in Diablo 4 is engaging and enjoyable, particularly for those who revel in hack-and-slash gameplay. The fluid animations and impactful abilities make every encounter thrilling, as you unleash devastating attacks against hordes of demons. The variety of character classes provides different playstyles to suit individual preferences, offering options for both close-quarters combat and long-range spellcasting. Although combat mechanics may not introduce groundbreaking innovations, they do stay true to the satisfying and addictive core gameplay that fans have come to expect.

Diablo 4 features an open-world design that encourages exploration and discovery. The vast landscapes are filled with dungeons, side quests, and hidden treasures, making each journey off the beaten path feel rewarding. While the open-world aspect is a departure from the linear structure of previous Diablo games, it offers a sense of freedom and adventure that breathes new life into the series. The day-night cycle and dynamic weather system add further immersion, creating a living world that evolves as you progress.

The narrative in Diablo 4 aims to delve deeper into the lore of the franchise, and while it may not be groundbreaking, it does provide an intriguing backdrop for your adventures. The storytelling is serviceable, with memorable characters and cinematic cutscenes that drive the plot forward. However, the pacing occasionally feels uneven, and the narrative fails to reach the same heights as some of its predecessors. Nonetheless, the story provides a solid foundation that sets the stage for potential expansions and future content.

While Diablo 4 has its share of strengths, it's important to acknowledge that the game is still a work in progress. Some areas, such as itemization, endgame content, inventory management and UI customization could benefit from further refinement and expansion. Additionally, occasional technical issues and balance concerns may arise, impacting the overall experience. However, Blizzard's commitment to ongoing updates and improvements gives hope for the game's future.

In summary, Diablo 4 may not be a flawless, but it presents a solid foundation upon which the franchise can build. With its captivating world, satisfying combat, open-world exploration, and multiplayer focus, the game offers an enjoyable experience that holds promise for the Diablo series. As updates and expansions continue to shape the game, Diablo 4 has the potential to grow into an exceptional addition to the franchise.

I could tell from the previews etc. of Diablo 4 that it wasn't going to be that great. Don't believe me? Look at the current stats of Diablo 4. It's terrible. We were promised there was going to be no microtransactions. I don't care if its just cosmetics etc.

If I wanted to play a much better polished game in every way imaginable I would just play PoE. But I don't want to because I like Diablo. Its what a lot of us grew up on.

I absolutely hate and despise all of this BS that blizzard tries to feed us and we just accept it cuz what are we gonna do? I got an idea. Just stop playing games in general because everything that comes out these days is not made for adult gamers anymore. We have outgrown video games etc. Lets be honest with ourselves.

Video games are not done like they use to be. Everything is skinned over etc. Its like I woke up in a fake universe one morning and everything has never felt the same since. So anyways screw this game and screw blizzard. It's been a fun ride, however, I don't want to be a part of this disgusting family anymore.

Also if my review is removed I will upload a video to youtube proving my review was removed etc. This game SUCKS like most other crap that's released these days.

Like I said most of my complaints have been listed by most of the comments. I don't really need to explain anything. I'll just list a few things to keep people off my back.

    1. SCALING - WHY BLIZZARD!!! FREAKING WHY!?!?!?

    2. Itemization - I hate the fact that my build is constantly changing or I can't find the legendry's I need to finish my build and on top of that we have the weirdest stats on them.

    3. MOB DENSITY!!! - I don't need to explain anything here.

    4. The game is too easy honestly - I beat Lilith no problem on a whirlwind barbarian on tier 2 on my first playthrough in a just couple minutes with no effort at all. I felt no challenge whatsoever. I was an early access player to and I barely played. I flew through the game in no time at all. It was a joke. I felt no challenge with anything I've done in the game. The only time I was having legitimate fun was when I was fighting Ashava. That was awesome. Other than that I felt nothing.

    5. No GEM bag!!! - Why TF is there no GEM bag!?!?!? They should be picked up automatically like materials etc.

    6. Dungeons/Aspects - I do not like the fact that dungeons only offer the lowest possible rolls for aspects etc. There needs to be ranges per tier for aspects when acquired from dungeons.

    7. Microtransactions - I'd rather pay Microtransactions for PoE. Not because I want to. Just because its IDK... A KAJILLION times better. You promised us we would not have microtransactions with Diablo 4...however, we got them!

    8. Talent trees and builds. - I don't care what anyone says. The talents and skills in this game are GARBAGE and too simple. I play a Whirlwind barb. It's a joke. and too simple to play. I get it that its a WW barb. But why the hell would I want to use 3 shouts and WoTB along with a static Lunging attack with WW to complete the build. And WHY am I stuck to using 6 skills again like in Diablo 3? Dude I want to use skills like in Diablo 1 and 2. I could use sooooo much in Diablo 2. Why am I stuck to 6.

    9. NO RUNES or SET ITEMS!!! - Where are the RUNES and set items!?!?!?

    10. This game feels like another chore - AND I HATE DOING CHORES!!!

    P.S.

If you delete my review, well I guess the world will see proof.
