Considering this is made by a billion-dollar AAA game company over the course of a decade and the vast amounts of lore and groundwork that was laid from previous Diablo games, it's awful. You get two amazing cinematics, 1 of them being the game launch cinematic, awfully scripted storyline portraited through cutscenes. Lorath's voice acting is on point but his lung cancer voice seriously gets on your nerves after cutscene #29. Not to mention how hard they push you to use their in game shop after having already paid 60, 90 or 100 dollars. Game design is awful as always from Blizzard, bland talent tree, green and red tooltips making us think we're stupid and can't figure out what's better ourselves. UI feels extremely mobile because the game is catered to console users for maximum profit. Further, they're giving us only a few keybinds and they're massive and glued to under your action bar and cannot be turned off.

Stop feeding greed, force AAA game companies to go back to the basics of game design and not
chase maximum profit for minimum effort, ruining every single artistic and fun aspect that good games can bring.

Diablo 4 is a very fun game and definitely an improvement from the third. Hopefully the game will age better than Diablo 3 did.

    1) Story - most likely the best on the ARPG market at the moment, it had several weak moments, but overall it's a solid 8/10.
    2) Graphics - best in the genre by far.
    3) Combat - smoothest and cleanest in the genre by far, Blizzard polish.
    4) Build Variety - weak at first glance, much better as you progress to the end game and start dropping particular legendary effects, near infinite possibilities at end game.
    5) Immersion - this cannot be understated, I have never played a more immersive game with a better built world than this, and I've played all other ARPGs on the market, they outdid themselves.
    6) Pacing - slower and more immersive pacing on the contrary of zoom zoom style of D3 rifts and POE mapping, you actually see whats going on on your screen and you're not getting a seizure. Battles feel weightly and impactful. Main reason I love it so much. Note, this changes at the max endgame as the game gets faster, but still nowhere near as POE or D3.
    7) Now for the minus - monetization, extremely greedy box price and store prices for cosmetics, but that's the only problem I see with the game
    8) 0 woke garbage, good marketing, they know their target audience for Diablo.

This is a must buy if you're an ARPG fan.

Boring, the first arpg I've played where I've been outright bored. Combat is average at best, UI is a hybrid of mobile and console, graphics really aren't special. Always online without an offline is a joke, but needed to showcase the MACRO-transactions.

Was looking forward to Druid, but it's an awful class to play as. Slow, clunky and in every way worse than D2 and Last Epoch druid.

Once the honeymoon phase is over and more people reach the non existent endgame, more will see this as the worst Diablo game, and one of the worst arpgs ever. Enough with all the useless marketing and use that money to make a half decent arpg, not some hybrid mmo-lite aprg that fails at both.

The gameplay is slow and tedious - you dont get in a real "flow" with the characters as it was possible in diablo 3. Furthermore the game is very prone to bugs. I have not played for that long but I have seen it all: Horses run into invisible walls and are unable to move, movement skills bug you out of the map, enemies are bugged out of the map, in dungeons for "kill" objectives there are just not enough enemies in the dungeon... I could continue the list on and on and on. It feels almost like blizzard never playtested their own game. The further you get into the game the more bugs are there as well - so by the end of the story and while doing the endgame be ready to be frustrated.
The open world aspect seemed promising, but is a real turnoff for me. I'd rather like to play on my own. Worldbosses and events are a nice idea, but given how many players are afk during these events and just scale them up... It's annoying - please just let me play on my own and cut this source of annoyment out.
The shop... I dont even say much to this... 25 bucks for a skin in a game I already payed a full price for... No! This is common practice nowerdays, but players just should not accept this behaviour from developers...
The story was okay. Nothing new but boring and really just stretched out in some parts...

All in all d4 looked promising but is boring, slow, feels old and bugged. Maybe get it somewhen if it maybe drops to a price around 20 bucks - because its definetly not worth 70.

It's a great game with tons to do and lots of endgame content. Ignore the mindless reviews by the infinite source of (zoomer) drones who love their cancel culture just a little bit too much.

Controls are great (controller and keyboard an mouse), has a cross platform pack and runs great on almost any PC.

World bosses that forces a once solo player awesome experience to play with other players more like a MMO.

The amount of time from the announcement to the release, there wasn't just enough time to create the d4 we wanted, if you believe in fairy tails that they were on it for almost 10 years, believe in whatever you want, they saw an opportunity to create a cashcow since fans were asking for a sequel and they probably just used diablo immortal assets and create something new here and there.

Like many of us, i was a foul for believing in D4 when we already have the REAL worthy successor do D1 and D2 and i hope you go back to play it instead of wasting your free time.

Sound design - 7/10, I don't like the music whatsoever, but the sound effects and feeling of impact is good.

Build diversity - 2/10, feels like they made the builds for all classes, gutted them, put some on the skill tree and the rest on legendary aspects.

Endgame - 2/10, same as we had in Diablo 3. Bounties and rifts, now under the guise of open world where you have to travel to your rifts. Helltides on a timer, baiting FOMO and world bosses which are the only semblance of a decent fight yet they get outscaled by you so hard even on the last difficulty.

Art - 10/10, can't really complain here. Zones, armours and skill effects are top notch.

Monetisation - 1/10. Early access for $100, MTX shop (and of course it's always marked as unread in-game, so you notice it, **** mobile game practice) and a battlepass + premium battlepass + accelerated battlepass. Blizzard's greed continues to impress.

Fairly disappointing. We were told we'd have more control over builds, but I feel like I have less choice vs diablo 3. Also, D3's graphics were better, it didn't suffer from being open world, and combat felt better and faster. D4 is so dull in every way. Definitely not worth the price.

I liked DIABLO IV. I'm still an inexperienced level 43 Necromancer, but I have already managed to appreciate the overall story, side quests, the atmosphere of certain locations, the charisma of the main characters in the game, the charm of the narrative, the excellent stylistics of the game. My personal rating is a solid 8 out of 10.

Not liking a game's optional monetization is a fine criticism to have, however giving that game a ZERO because of purely cosmetic mictrotransactions is asinine.

The game is well worth the wait. Taking the best aspects of Diablo 3 and pairing it with the storytelling and ambiance of Diablo and Diablo 2. There are few legitimate grips I have with the game, but lets get to them first.

Leaderboards: Should have been in at launch, they have already confirmed they will be ready for later seasons but this seems like an sad oversight.

Road map: I think that they should have given us the road map for season 1 and 2 at launch. Just look at the silly review bombing that is happening here, it could be 100% discounted if we had a road map the showed exactly what each season's main content would be.

Over-world travel on the mount: The mount itself is just not a fluid as I would like. Stuttering, and rubber-banding on the mount is just frustrating.

    Now for what I love.

The gameplay for each class is INCREDIBLE. Fluid, visceral, varied and just a damn good time. You find yourself going from event to event in the overworld just because of how much fun it is to wade through the monsters with your classes chosen kit.

The story is, perhaps, the best they have ever created. The side quests are utterly enthralling. You will be doing some dumb fetch quest that leads to you questioning how you're raising your kids. Am I as supportive of a father as I think I am? These thoughts have gone through my head multiple times and more while doing SIDE QUESTS!

If the $70 price is too much for you you will not have to wait long for a sale, Blizzard puts games on sale mere months after they come out. Please do yourself a favor and ignore the hate, ignore the store, and just give this game a chance. I promise it will not disappoint.

A Disappointing Descent into Darkness - Diablo 4 Falls Short

    Rating: 4/10

As an avid fan of the Diablo franchise, I eagerly awaited the release of Diablo 4 with high hopes. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment as I delved into the latest installment of the iconic action role-playing game. Diablo 4, while offering a few glimpses of potential, ultimately fails to capture the magic and innovation that made its predecessors so beloved.

First and foremost, the storyline in Diablo 4 feels lackluster and unengaging. The narrative lacks the depth and intricacy that Diablo fans have come to expect. The plotline follows a predictable and clichéd path, offering little in the way of surprises or genuine moments of intrigue. The characters, both old and new, lack compelling development, leaving them feeling like mere cardboard cutouts instead of fleshed-out personas.

One of the most significant disappointments in Diablo 4 lies in its gameplay. While the core mechanics of the series are still present, the overall experience feels stale and uninspired. Combat, a crucial aspect of any action RPG, fails to deliver the visceral thrill that the franchise is renowned for. The combat encounters lack variety, becoming repetitive and monotonous after only a few hours of play. The absence of new and exciting abilities further exacerbates the feeling of tedium, leaving players yearning for more.

The visual presentation of Diablo 4 is undoubtedly a high point, showcasing the dark and gothic aesthetic the series is known for. However, the game's graphics alone cannot save it from its inherent flaws. Despite the atmospheric visuals, the world itself feels strangely lifeless and uninspiring. The environments lack the detailed interactivity that would make them truly immersive, leaving players feeling detached from the game world.

Furthermore, the implementation of microtransactions in Diablo 4 is a significant detriment to the overall experience. The game seems designed to push players towards purchasing additional content, creating a pay-to-win dynamic that undermines the integrity of the gameplay. This blatant money-grabbing strategy detracts from the core enjoyment and fairness that should be inherent in any game.

Lastly, the multiplayer aspect, which has always been a strong suit of the Diablo series, disappoints in Diablo 4. The multiplayer functionality is riddled with connectivity issues, frequent crashes, and a lack of stability. These problems hinder the cooperative and competitive experiences that made previous Diablo games so enjoyable with friends.

In conclusion, Diablo 4 fails to live up to the legacy of its predecessors. The lackluster story, uninspiring gameplay, and issues with multiplayer functionality make for a disappointing experience overall. While the visuals may temporarily captivate, they cannot compensate for the game's fundamental flaws. Diablo 4 is a dark descent into mediocrity, and I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a truly captivating and memorable gaming experience.

I don't have a log of the hours that I spent on Diablo 2, but given that I played it consistently for five years, and then on and off for the following fifteen years, I'm willing to bet its well over a thousand hours. Similarly, I invested hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Diablo 3 across multiple platforms. In addition to those, I messed around with several of the Diablo clones over the years - Path of Exile, Torchlight, Titan Quest, among many others. Needless to say, I was beyond excited for Diablo 4. I purchased it on PC and on PS5 to do couch coop with my wife.

I am a Diablo 2 purist, no matter what the series does, I think that is a timeless formula, so I am always a little rough to accept change in the series, even if it takes it in the right direction. Diablo 4 really takes the series to new heights while keeping the same core dungeon crawling, loot hunting, monster slaying concepts. The open world feels very appropriate for the Diablo series without steering off into other MMORPG territories. It keeps the same spirit of the series but it makes the world feel so much more alive. It is difficult to put into words but it is something that you absolutely have to experience for yourself. The world itself is static which is completely new for the series, but all of the dungeons are procedurally generated like you would expect, and it executes it very well. Blizzard made everything feel much deeper than ever before, and they executed it perfectly. I feel almost as if Diablo 3 tried to add this layer of depth, but they needed to test their foundation over a decade to make it work this fluidly. I also like the connectivity with other players - you'll find them in town, you'll randomly come across other players doing an event that you'll link up with for 5 minutes and head your separate ways. It's very nonintrusive and totally adds to the experience.

The character skills development, and overall depth to the gameplay is all there - the more you play, the more you realize how complex the character building really is. Once you think you have it under control, it just adds more and more depth and complexity to it. Its the most fleshed out Diablo experience without a doubt. The great part about it is that you can play it how you wish. The complexity is there if you really want to get sweaty with the game, but there is so much content that even casual players can fully immerse themselves with as much as they feel comfortable with. I really enjoyed playing this with my wife because she largely does not play any videogames, but I managed to hook her with Diablo 3 many years ago. Its complex enough for me to be able to really get into the stats and builds, but straight forward enough where she can create and customize her character on a far more casual level, yet we can play on the same couch and love it the same.

The graphics are fantastic, although sometimes the textures look a little too shiny and wet, and some of the character models in the cutscenes look like clay and a bit out of place, but overall the graphics are fantastic. The music is amazing and very well composed, or perfectly ambient. The story overall is excellent for a Diablo game, but the world building and lore is where its at. There is a ton to dig into if you are wanting to learn more about the world of Diablo, something that the series was always lacking. Most importantly, the world has that gothic art style that was present in Diablo 2, and not the oddly colorful art style of Diablo 3.

Overall, nobody does ARPGs better than Diablo. Nobody. This feels like all of the growth that Diablo 3 experienced and all of their trials and errors are fully realized into this game. I'm still a Diablo 2 purist, they did everything perfect with that game. But if I want to play Diablo 2, I'll play Diablo 2. This was an absolutely necessary step for the franchise and it makes the growing period from Diablo 3 completely worth it.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
