    What is avarage:
    Combat, classes,

    What I disliked:
Monster scaling - often, you get punished by leveling up with stronger monsters and the gain from leveling itself is not enough to offset this

Story ending - I was pretty fine with the story until the last act. On one hand it is cool and has cool story moments, but the ending is so poorly written that it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Unexplained mechanics - I kept building my class around lucky chance. Only when I invested all I had into it, I found out, that the mechanic works entirely different and is much much weaker than I thought.

Build switching - the more you progress with the game, the more you are locked in to your build. In order to survive and kill the monster you need more and more specific stats and legendary aspects. You have to collect all the needed items to switch your build, otherwise you have no chance

Items - later on, you very rarely drop an item that is an actual upgrade

Terrible itemization, every class needs vulnerable stat and CC reduction since its so damn strong in endgame.

Game is too dark, it's hard to differentiate between elites/champions and normal trash mobs because they removed the colorization they had in d3, it feels like you are always fighting weak or strong trash mobs.

Bosses are terrible, they have zero mechanics, just pure damage sponges.

To make the pace of the game slower, they nerfed builder skill damage. You are always building up resources to spend it in a second. Combat is really boring, felt so much better and smoother in d3.

Leveling is a slog, it takes around 150 hours to reach max level if you play solo and don't exploit party benefits.

World events are boring as hell, it feels like you are forced to do boring chores copied directly from world of warcrafts world quest system.

Mount is the worst functioning system in the game without a doubt. Clunky as hell, keeps getting stuck between barriers placed out in the world and needs to charge a charge for a speed boost. If you get dismounted in combat there is a 30 second cooldown lol.

UI looks like pure garbage, optimized for consoles and it shows. Too much emphasis on the character look (obviously for mtx reasons) and too little on the loot. It doesn't feel good when you get new good items, there is no dopamine rush like there was in d2 and d3.

This game is not worth 70 (or 100 with the battlepass) dollars. The story is very generic. The only good thing about this game is the graphics in my opinion. If you really want to buy it wait for a sale and pick it up for 20-30 dollars. When you reach lvl 60-70 you have pretty much done everything there is to do in the game, there is no point in reaching lvl 100.

Im a lvl 80 barbarian and i kinda forced myself to keep playing in hopes it was going to get better but the game felt like a boring chore the entire time. In my humble opinion, do not buy this trash.

People complaining about the grind have obviously never played diablo before.Overall as a long time diablo fan I just love this game , it is really refreshing, especially since I hated diablo 3. Anyways, is this game Diablo 2? No it is not. Is this game Diablo 3? No it is not. If you want to play a game like "boomer-ville" Diablo 2, then guess what? You can still play Diablo 2 (Resurrected even) and enjoy your "1-2 builds per class, killing Baal and Meph over and over" gaming session. People forget how repetitive Diablo 2 is just like all ARPGs. You act like that's not happening in those games still. Diablo 2 this and Diablo 2 that, STFU and move on.

Now, is Diablo 4 a 10 out of 10? Absolutely not, but it's definitely not a 0-4, either, hell even a 5. These whiners wanted something that was not Diablo 3 and they got it and they are still crying. They will cry until the end of time and review bomb things they can't comprehend. Because everyone is cooler and keyboard warriors on the internet, but I'd bet half of them can't put together a sentence and talk in-person.

Also, stop pre-ordering games. You don't want the so-called "trIplE A gAmEs tO tAkE my mOnEy" then stop pre-ordering them. You can't pre-order something and then cry that it sucks and ask for a refund. I be these are the same people who pre-ordered Anthem and Cyberpunk as well. You never learn do you?

Always online? It's 2023. If you don't have the internet then you have been living under a rock. Always online has been a thing since Neverwinter Nights in 1991, but people adored it. Ya'll are just adding it to the list of things to cry about because you joined the masses to hate on Blizzard who has done nothing, but make improvements to their culture and games.

Now the game; yes it is worth $70. You're going to put 70 hours or more into it and that's a measurement I go off. I know some think you need to only pay $10 for 5,000 hours of gameplay, its hard, but you'll survive darling. I see a lot of build-cryouts too. Guess what? You're gonna log onto Maxroll and pick the top tier build anyway, just like you did in Diablo 2 and as you still do in PoE. The game is a week old and you don't think there will be patches and build diversity coming? You obviously do not play games then.

It's not Diablo 2, its not Diablo 3, and it's not PoE. It's simply a new take on a cool series. You will have fun more than likely. I challenge you to not look things up and actually play the game yourself. Watch a streamer play it. Check out a friend's game before you buy it, whatever floats your boat, but DO NOT listen to the review bomb society because they can't get their nuts to drop who are going to farm the same things over and over for that one extra stat point on one piece of gear and scream "GG blIzzArd."

From the very beginning of development, they did quarterly updates where they would inform players on what they were currently working on and gather feedback on those things. By doing this it ensured they weren't wasting resources and time by creating things that players didn't like, and the end result is amazing.

It's well worth the price tag for me. Even if the level cap was 50 I would still buy the game at it's current price, because there's enough content to keep me busy for many many hours.

The story is great. The side quests are fun. I skipped everything on my first 2 playthroughs of the campaign but on my 3rd character I watched everything and listened to all quest dialogue on side missions.

There's a variety of different things to do at end game, so you can focus on specific things or do a little bit of everything depending on what you like. There's no wrong way to play.

Making your own build is fun and rewarding, and you can make a build that is intricate and unique without being overwhelmed by the complexity. I love both the skill tree and paragon tree, and it's easy to change/modify some things without that dread of having to re-do your character.

I look forward to spending thousands of hours over the coming years in this game, trying out different classes, builds, playing the seasons etc.

I would go as far as to say this is the best game Blizzard has ever made.

This isn’t Diablo. This is a quasi single-player wow game with the same zone scaling/leveling scheme. It’s terrible, it doesn’t feel like an aRPG because of it. The itemization is also terrible. It’s just different shades of % this or % that. There’s nothing that drops that is truly unique or makes you go wow.

There is one recent review that is so completely off base, that said there is no Global chat, when upon logging in and pressing "Enter" to open chat, you are in Global. Hitting the "Tab" key will even let you cycle through the different channels of chat as well. It's sad that reviews, such as this one, weigh on the overall score of the game. It also basically de-legitimizes the credibility of reviewers like this person.

First off, there is zooming in and out of your character, so the reviewer that said there is none is false and disinformation. I cannot believe that some people actually found that useful when the Demo/Beta was playable for everyone to see that you can zoom in and out of your character at any time. I'd ignore with full prejudice any reviews saying you cannot zoom in or out of your character.

Second, there is also trading of items, but it is limited to "rares" or gold items and lower. You cannot trade Legendary or Ancestral gear, or whatever higher tier gear that comes into the game. The reviews that said you cannot trade gear -at all- is factually wrong. Further, the reviews saying you cannot trade Legendary or higher quality gear are conveniently leaving out is that you can easily upgrade your rare or yellow gear to Legendary gear using Aspects that you can rip off other Legendary items, and apply it to your tradeable rare gear, and get a legendary catered to your character's build. At this point, I'd ignore the reviews saying you cannot trade any gear in Diablo 4.

There are some negative reviews I do agree with, but I would -not- put this game below an 8/10 at worst. For what we got with this game, and a major upgrade to graphics, animation, story, voice acting, SFX, VFX, vs Diablo 3, I think this game is astonishing. I liked Diablo 1, 2, 3 as a whole, skipped Diablo Immortal because that game was an absolutely horrible reskin of Crusaders of Light, a Chinese ARPG, and just one of the worst games Blizzard ever produced/re-skinned. I think Blizzard does a better job making games from the ground up. But I digress.

In terms of my review, I do not like the micro-stats like "Damage Reduction Up Close", "Damage Reduction from Distant", "Damage Up close", "Damage to Distant", etc. I can see where Blizzard was going with this setup, with fine tuning your character to exactly your playstyle is. But I think splitting Damage Reduction/Producing to "up close" and "distant" enemies was a bit much. I agree that this could have been better thought out, or, just leave the damage reduction as one stat: Damage Reduction. The same goes for Damage to Enemies up close or distant: Increased Damage/Attack Power would have sufficed here. I docked one point here in my review.

Second, there are dungeons where the flow of progress feels great and fun! But there are a lot of dungeons, especially towards the later end game, where I find myself doing a bit too much back tracking and is not fun or exciting. I know there is backtracking in ARPGs and it is basically a staple for ARPGs and even RPGs, but this was a bit much towards the later parts of Diablo IV. I remember the Blizzard Dev video showed some updates they did about Dungeon flow, and I think they did a phenomenal job with changing the flow of the dungeons, but with over 120 dungeons, they missed a bunch. I would dock half a point here, because I can count maybe 20 dungeons that need this update added for better flow of the dungeons.

The side quests, along with the main quests in Diablo IV were very fun and enjoyable. Some of the side quests were quite annoying, especially if you like doing side quests like I do, where if you don't have your mount yet, you're going to be rolling your eyes at the back and forth you have to do. If I played this game efficiently and stuck to the MSQ (Main Story Quest), then did the side quests after I get my mount (which comes at the end of Act III), it would not have been so bad. I docked half a point here, since some of the side quests were enjoyable and the voice acting was well done. A story within a story. You do not see that quality in many games these days, or even in the past.

I cannot dock a point off of the price of the game because again, you had the choice of paying $70 for the regular release of the game, or pay close to $100 for the early access. The game would be no different from early access or full access. The season pass bump, again, it's up to you. The reviews saying this is pay to win is laughable at best. The game is VERY far from Pay to Win like Diablo Immortal was, or a lot of Korean/Chinese MMOs are. Ignore those reviewers without examples.

-Forcing summoners to play a necro-nurse build. Minions should be viable as a sole damage dealer. But everything else is horrible.

    - Phone UI bleeds my eyes. Floating hud with numbers at the bottom. Cartoonish skill icons. MMO inventory. They all kill the dark vibe of the game. How can you make such a good looking game and then ruin it with such an awful UI? Not to mention the dysfunctional skill page without a search bar...

    - Level scaling. This is why this game feels so boring to play. The more levels I get, the more punished I feel. What's the point of a level system if I'll never feel superior? Cap it already. And put different caps for different map regions so that players can feel the progress they have.

    - Itemization. This is where D4 completely fails. There is no build diversity. Meta is totally controlled by Blizzard and the legendary aspects they add. Some skills have x10 synergy legendries, while others have only a couple. Where is the freedom in this when one skill does x1000 damage with ten synergies and the other can only have two synergies?

    - Resource management. Core skills are boring, but you have to use an even more boring skill to be able to use them. Seriously, who came up with this system?

And why do we have to explain the same things over and over again since D3?

If you’ve ever played a Diablo game before, you know what to expect. Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of innovative aspects to the game beyond the paragon board levelling system. The game very much plays like a reimagined Diablo 2 with modern game mechanics. The endgame has enough content to keep you busy til the end when the road at level 100. All in all, it’s a fun game with addictive gameplay and the big bad cash shop that everyone hates is absolutely not intrusive in the slightest to the gameplay so it’s totally ignorable. The average player isn’t going to spend $28 for a skin for a $70 game they just bought.

Gear: Gear drops with too many and confusing stats. If your playing an INT based class it's very common to get items that contain DEX or STR. The enchanter in D3 was used to fix these issues, however the enchanter costs are way out of balance and just too expensive.

Confusing item stats: This game has a very simple skill system, so it's not for advanced players like the POE crowd. It makes no sense why they added so many item stats. Stats like close, distance, vulnerable, crowd controlled, etc... It just makes items more likely to randomly generate with stats that are no good to you. The enchanting system might be a fix for this, but as stated above, it's too expensive to be viable. The enchanting system opens as level 20, but is really only for later in the game. Enchanting needs to be viable and balanced for level 20, get new players into enchanting gear from 20-100

World scaling: It's the way to make the game playable with characters of all levels. This means the enemies are always equal or higher level than you. The part of this that doesn't work is the classes and skills are months or years from being balanced. Also if you get bad luck on gear, leveling up makes you weaker, because the world levels up around you.

As a long time diablo fan, all i can say is that this is the diablo game we were waiting for! The visuals are beyond the roof, the gameplay is fluid and fun, the world is huge and alive, the story is interesting and well written. There is so much to do even after finishing the story. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a hard recommend for the game. The classes feel weak until you hit lvl 50 and you will probably want to play the same sorcerer or rogue classes everyone picks because they're the 2 cool classes everyone say how good they are for early and endgame. The story took about 16 hours to complete but about 2 hours of it was actually good content, act 1 to 3 is forgettable, nothing splendid apart from the 3 headed dog boss, the only interesting mechanic it had was running away to a different zone every chunk of health it lost. After act 3, pathetic story telling and dramatic tropes that weren't necessary at all, like that girl, yes lemme open that door thats simply locked and that we could easily bust open with our power, oh-no she got stabbed in the hand or arm wtv by a drowned or wtv its called, gotta cut the arm off so that the "poison" doesn't spread. Many more uninteresting and useless action taken by her or other NPCs. Like c'mon, who's really gonna do that / say that.

One thing I absolutely hated about the game, the networking. Making the game an online only experience is the worst decision. I live in Australia and the internet access here isn't that great. Even playing solo I suffer from rubber-banding and attacks hitting me even if I'm not in an AOE zone. Anyways, most of the game, unless you have friends, is going to be played SOLO. MSQ or dungeons alike will be played SOLO. Lagging in a SOLO instanced dungeon left me dumbfounded.

no crafting apart from potions, vendors sell their items way too high (about 85% of my gold for 1 piece of gear which offers barely any upgrade over my current one and I could easily find an even better drop from a chest or an enemy)

Poor optimization from the game, me and my friends, who have beefy PCs, suffer from freezes, disconnections, crashes, broken cutscenes ( shows the floor, had to stream the cutscene on discord ) and visual physics glitches ( fresh out of gary's mod )

I could understand giving the mounts after act 3 as it makes you explore the map. but act 3 ends in a low level zone and you visited about maybe 35% of the whole map. (Again elongating the game, long but thin in substance)

Final zone, I somewhat liked it. HELL was beautifully made and pretty challenging. Ok twists from Lilith and cutscenes are fabulous. The cheap part is the nightmare zone, simply recycling old bosses we fought but weaker was kind of disappointing.

Tldr : dont waste 100$ aud (70$ usd) for this **** just play diablo 3 which is a much more enjoyable experience altogether.

Gambling with orbs seems worthless in t4, everyone avoids events
Helltide is an annoying chore maybe put the chest items into tree.
Nightmare dungeons are more tedious than anything. Im not going to use the ones with heavy minus to my builds damage or burning my rescource. Why are there all bonuses for elemental damage appearing when playing a physical class, makes the whole crafting part pointless.

D4 is cookie dough. Enjoyable for a little bit, but you'll get sick of it quick and wish you left it in the oven instead.

Early game experience is alright when the story is keeping you busy and you're unlocking new skillpoints, but once you reach world tier 3 all you're doing is spamming the same repetitive, uninteresting dungeons ad infinitum. Gameplay or content doesn't really change past the point you enter T3 and there is practically no reason to keep going other than hitting max level and working towards nightmare dungeon level 100 just for the sake of it.

There are "115" dungeons in the game, but in reality there are only like half a dozen different dungeon tilesets, enemy compositions, objectives and jokes of an "end boss", the 115 dungeons are just repeating the same elements from the common pool. Not cool, very boring, and the amount of wandering around looking for all the "destroy 4 piles of garbage" objectives spread around the dungeon map only encourage split clearing to avoid a lot of unnecessary running around and backtracking which makes solo play clearly the worse option to group play (even if you're rarely actually playing together as a group).

Class gameplay is oversimplified, majority of builds essentially have one "important button" and then the rest. Combat isn't very nuanced even for a ARPG and while slaying demons is never not satisfying, D4 combat design seems quite subpar compared to other contemporary ARPGs, or even the previous Diablo game(s). There is satisfying visual feedback with most abilities, be it slamming the ground as a werebear or raining meteors, but the one button gameplay itself gets stale and the combat feel doesn't change much with higher levels or better gear.

Build diversity is lacking, that in combination with the poor state of balance means every class just has THE BUILD to play, and if you're lucky, maybe even an alternative, not quite as good but still borderline viable build. That's it. Paragon boards seem complicated at a glance, but really you just pick and choose which rare, legendary and glyph nodes have the most obvious benefit to your build and map the shortest path through them. PoE buildcrafters need not apply, character builds in this game are extremely streamlined and simplified.

Itemization is uninspired and boring. Gear is flooded with boring +% this or that stats, most of which achieve the same result. As a firewall sorcerer +20% fire damage/pyromancy skill damage/damage to burning enemies/damage to close enemies/damage over time/fire damage over time all do the same exact thing. There are very few actually interesting pieces of gear that noticeably affect your playstyle or have an interesting effect.

The open world is roughly what you'd expect from an open world ARPG. Don't expect much interaction from the open world, it's just there to facilitate all the little side distractions, as well as the story itself and the renown grind - a map completion system, not too dissimilar to Lost ark's adventure tome, albeit a much more lightweight system at that. World bosses are a nice addition, though there are only three of them and their challenge leaves a lot to be desired.

D4 is a technically fairly good looking game and the artstyle is consistent through the game, but it is a little dark, dull, dirty and drab. Most areas are just a different shade of gray mud and dirt and it all starts looking a bit samey after a while with no bright, colorful, clean areas to contrast against which is a bit of a criticism towards the art direction of the game.

UI, UX, QoL are poor. Combing though items is a chore with the tooltip legibility being still quite bad. Inventory management issues are quite serious, with nightmare sigils quickly flooding the shared inventory tab with consumables, gems crowding your bags, and you only have 4 tabs of stash space shared across all your characters on the realm. Vendoring trash rares is your main gold source, so needing to loot everything on your path to fund your gear enchanting and stuff plays into the inventory space issues, as well as adds tedium to the gameplay. Forced enemy snapping is an annoyance for classes that require precise aiming/placement of abilities. Mount gets stuck on everything and feels quite clunky, has a cooldown, is stingy with charge cooldown. No UI customization, can't drag open windows (e.g. linked items) on the screen. Respeccing is a huge gold sink. Can't plan out paragon boards ingame without purchasing points one by one - also can't refund paragon points other than individually. Inconsistent and sometimes misleading wording on what should effect what and which effects interact with each other.

It's not great. Some is lack of polish, some is fundamental problems with the game design. Could be 7/10 after a year or two, but for now I'm shelving the game.

Oh yeah, it has 15€ horse armor DLC.

    1. Character Creation:
It is very bad, much worse than in Diablo Immortal (mobile game), not comperable to Lost Ark. Blizzard has praised the character creation system in interviews and each class has the same options for everything - hair, tattoos, makeup, eye color, hair color, skin color (there is a plus, the game here is very diverse), ending up with no character fantasy. It just looks LAZY.
Also It seems like someone was pushing for body positivity, and I'm all about it. That being said, necro is anorexic, mage, rogue are average, barbarian is muscular and druid is just obese, they promotes an unhealthy lifestyle and believe me, I am obese because of my condition and it's not a good life. It can promote unhealthy habits in the minds of young people. Give every class like 3-5 bodytypes to chose from if you care about body positivity, dont force players to play character they dont enjoy visually.

    3. History:
Act 1: There are some good moments, like meeting characters from previous Diablos, but it's just boring.

Act 2: I think it's even more linier and boring than Act 1.

Act 3: Something starts to happen here, but it's still not very engaging.

Act 4: At this point I felt they just wanted to make a longer story and put in something that didn't make sense.

Act 5: This act is a bit better, more interesting, but extended in a very stiff and artificial way.

Act 6: Okay here comes the story finally in act 6 this is amazing the cinematic is one of the best ever made

All in all, the story could be much better, it's long and boring for the most part, but it's a bang at the end. There are only 2 cinematics in the whole game and they are really the best, the cutscenes are made on the game engine that includes the player character, I would prefer maybe one cutscene per act to summarize what happened.

    3. Character progression:
Many classes only have one meta build for now, I'm aware the game has been out for over a week but keep in mind it has been in development for many, many, many years. Druids summons are totaly useless, 0 dmg- Go Bearform or go home, all Wizzard build include 4 same skills and 2 that are flexible, Rogue ranged build deal 10% DMG of melee builds

The skill system can be brilliant after some improvements, but you have so few points to spend that it's rather limiting.
Some passives are just rediculus like +3 spirit for druid +3 mana for wizards and you can't just not add at least 1 point to them because there's another useful passive right behind it.

Paragons are interesting, it bring fresh air in to character development, can looks complicated, but if you will learn how to work with it (not taking so long) itspretty straight forward.

    Itemization:
I think it's good for now, legends are interesting, gems are more interesting than id diablo 3, armor and weapons look cool. I'm still debating if there is not to many iteam tiers.
I hope they never add sets because it will destroy everything.

    Summary:
Charactercreation is handicapped and lazily made.
Story from act 1 till 5 is boring.
Skill tree can be good if improved
Paragons are good start for future better character buildcraft.
Graphics are stunning, game is beautifull.
Servers are bad, and very laggy.

In America, even if you fail, you still get paid in the end. For example, when a doctor misdiagnoses and makes you do the run-around, he/she still gets paid even though they did nothing. When banks fail, those at the top still get a payout as if nothing ever happened. This applies to all sectors, both public and private, and is utterly despicable behavior.

Activision Blizzard has been on a massive losing streak since Activision bought the company back in 2007. They have made failure after failure, starting with Starcraft 2, a beloved franchise that deserved a better fate than it received. While Starcraft was a huge loss, it paled in comparison to the loss that was to come with Diablo 3. Diablo 3 was an absolute dumpster fire that insulted the intelligence of however many of us there are still left who can critically think. Activision knew that Diablo 3 was a bad game, but they also knew that simply calling it 'Diablo' would make the game a financial success. They did not care if the game was a success on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level, they only cared about how many copies were sold. And sell it did. Diablo 3 was a financial success because of it's predecessor, Diablo 2. Diablo 3 went on to sell over 8 million copies (according to them) on the first week of release. What they didn't tell you, however, is how many people requested refunds and how many people quit within the first three months of release. Out of those 8 million copies that sold, only 1 million stayed around for the first six months, and then those number dropped even further to the point that Diablo2 had more of a population than Diablo 3. That is not a success; that is an absolute failure.

Fast forward to the present, and Activision has still not learned any of its lessons from past failures. This is evident with Diablo 4, which has copied the entire UI and everything that was bad about Diablo 3 into its code. Diablo 4 is simply the Diablo 3 that they wanted to make a decade ago, but didn't. They even used the same untalented/worthless Diablo 3 dev team. Diablo 4 is simply Diablo 3 with a new coat of paint. To illustrate how unimaginative these worthless devs are, and how ignorant they are of their own past failures, they fashioned Lilith after Kerrigan from the Starcraft Universe down to almost every detail. Yes, this is true and quite pathetic, and yet they are proud of their plagiarism and lack of innovation anyway. It's almost like they made the game bad on purpose, just to get a negative reaction out of people. I guess they succeeded on that front, because I would not be writing this if it wasn't the case.

Diablo 4 is soulless and empty, and no amount of patches/expansions is ever going to fix that. It is a game made for the braindead masses, very similar to how Star Wars, and anything made by Disney or Netflix, are aimed at those who will never have the capacity for higher reasoning or thought. This game was made for them; it was never meant for those of who can still think.

Diablo 4 is one of the biggest piles of trash I have ever played and I do not recommend it. If you are wanting the Diablo 2 experience, then Path of Exile is the only game in town. Granted, it also has its flaws, but at least it doesn't treat you like an idiot or insult your intelligence like Diablo 4 does.

We need to stop rewarding failure, so that games like Diablo 4, Lost Ark, and all the other crap out there, are never made.

Game is great, perfect? Of course not. Story is great for a Diablo game and most ARPGs. Its simple enough to jump in but still has some complexities for those who want it. Not in the same league as PoE or LE though.

If you like the Diablo franchise you will enjoy this. The haters just giving this game scores below a 6 are just angry man babies.

It also caters to those who are group players, since I am solo, I am punished for that with less XP. I made a few alts but in my mind, I know they will end up the same as the first character I played. Also, alt leveling is terrible, the map isn't even fully discovered, even after selecting to finish the campaign. You also cannot go back to certain areas you were in while questing in the campaign, like hell (which this game is all about). The mob density is almost abysmal. In some dungeons, I am running around for a long period of time and run into 1-2 single white mobs, make that make sense to me in an ARPG. They are also nerfing the mob density in dungeons, how? Why? It sucks, I really want to like this game but in its current state, I do not like it at all and would not recommend it to anyone. I paid 90 bucks for this game and I feel ripped off. Expand

A huge number of perks like + damage to basic skills, or + damage to main skills, + damage to melee, or + to ranged. These are garbage stats and they are worse than standard + to crit. Because of these garbage stats, it is very difficult to respec.
Legendary items and their properties are impersonal - they are simply random and knocking them out does not bring a sense of reward. Also, the most beautiful skins are paid and cost an indecently huge amount of money.
The graphical effects of the skills look unremarkable and dull, as if it were a port from a mobile game, for example, the skills of a wizard look worse than in Diablo 3.
I just can't believe Blizzard allowed such boring and repetitive gameplay to release. As if game designers are some laymen with no experience.

The game is an insanely absurdly addicting dopamine slot machine simulator. I think the open world really adds to this, and not having to play the campaign more than once. Which was really good and set the tone in my opinion but also was a bit of a slog.

I have a Druid at level 72 and find the build diversity on him to be amazing. I don't feel the need to follow strict meta, just leveled through a build that was theory crafted and sounded good and strong, did end up being pretty meta, but I deviated and did different things and haven't even looked at end game meta build. I'm still changing and tweaking my build.

I can't wait to play the other classes as well, but my next power boost is always tantalizing close, usually achieved by the end of a good day of playing, not multiple times throughout the day. Which is a a slow pace and feels like feast or famine, but it makes sense to me that's how the game will start to try to keep it controlled and contained, as power creep is inevitable, and there's going to be thousands of more gear sets and meta builds in the future.

Haven't been this hooked on a game in a long time and I feel like I have months of replay ability with this base game, possibly even just within the Druid class even, though I will choose a different one next.

This is one of those games that makes me so happy that I'm actually here for it, and a gamer at this day and age. It really feels glorious.
However I think with a strong build anywhere close to meta as mine is it's a bit too easy, the sweet spot is being under leveled in a new difficulty and overcoming that, that's when side quests and basic dungeons and exploration feels amazing and immersive, with the possibility of death. Once the overworld and then the basic dungeons become too easy the enjoyment starts to fall off, and it's starting to happen a bit at 72 right when my build is starting to fully come together.

Nightmare dungeons aren't good enough to sustain that for very long imo, so I will likely then stop the character once I finally get my build completed where it's destroying in the overworld, (It's already doing very well but I want to add another 0 to my damage) and start the next one until higher WTs (difficulties) come out. Which is fine in my opinion.

I don't think NM dungeons are a suitable end game, they should just be the thing to do to get levels and push difficulty until you can make it into the next difficulty, which doesn't exist yet, but is coming according to leaks.

And that's fine I think, I think for launch that is actually acceptable, so long as it doesn't take a whole year for more difficulties to come out. Because to me that's the sweet spot is coming into a new difficulty with new challenge, better AI and better monster density, that's what makes the game exciting to me.

NM dungeons aren't good enough to grind forever, they are too boring and repetitive. But I'm sure that blizzard knows this. I am super excited not just for this games future but also the content that I have available to play until that fleshes out. Which I'm hoping works out smoothly, which I definitely could see that happening. Like I will play every other class, I will rebuild my 71 Druid, I will create another fresh Druid, maybe the same for the other classes too. That is a LOT of content to hold me over. The atmosphere is incredible. It oozes inspiration from the original 2 diablos. It's delicious and next gen.

Would give it a 8 or 9 but all the 1 and 2 reviews are just insane and weight the rating down way too much. It's like the 4 Chan clown bus or something. Like if you look at their other reviews they rate all AAA games at 0 but weeb and waifu indy games at tens, its pretty clear where this brigade is coming from.

For context, I've been playing a Barb solo, and a Sorcerer in a group - both on world tier 2.

The story, cutscenes and overall world building are incredible; I usually rush through games to get to the endgame but this time round I've been genuinely interested in what's going on and taking my time to click all the extra dialogue options and explore the map. I've found that I can get through 1-2 acts in a few hours even while taking my time, so the pacing feels good and mini adventures between certain missions give a good break to grab alters or do events.

Skills/builds and diversity feel pretty solid but there's definitely room for growth. I've already changed my build many times on my Barb either to beat a boss or add synergy to a legendary drop. So far I've tried the classic spin to win build, hammer of the ancients with lots of shouts, a high CC upheaval build, and now a bleed + thorns build that's working very well.

However, the actual gear stats are a bit **** to put it lightly, simply because there are so many. It's infeasible to get the right set of stats with decent rolls, on every piece of gear - which can make things feel tedious. My current build is riddled with bonuses like 'reduce damage from distant enemies', but it's not worth the investment to reroll everything constantly since there's always another bad bonus to take it's place anyway.

Scaling is also another issue I've heard brought up, and I'll agree it can be fairly punishing, especially since it's easy to be under geared in this game - there aren't enough upgrades being dropped to keep up with mobs in the higher tiers, so levelling up can feel like a loss of power. This is further conflated by the gear stats I've already mentioned.

Despite this, it is still possible to experiment and theory craft at endgame (instead of just reading an icy veins guide), it just takes a little longer to get established with a new playstyle - which I think is tolerable.

What's most important, is the fact that the gameplay itself is fun and rewarding. I absolutely love spinning round and watching everything get melted. I love stun locking huge groups of mobs. I love watching a boss bleed out in 5 seconds and blowing everything up when I hit a rupture. But most of all, I LOVE ****ting on every Blizzard L; from cancelled overwatch PvE to WoW tokens in wrath - which should speak volumes about the fact I'm making a positive review about this game. This is a rare Blizzard win, but it's still not game of the year quality - it's a solid addition, and I'm sure it will keep improving as time progresses.

There is no build diversity in the end game. "But the meta always exists" isn't an argument. There's having meta builds, and then there's having most viable. Right now, as it stands, because of different mutations that elite spawns can have, ranged characters are rendered useless in high level dungeons. I play a necro with a full minion build and I know that even if I pump as much points into minion life as I can, my build will be useless around high level end game because I'm only on t3 and am having trouble keeping them alive. People like Asmon use the most meta builds for their character, they still suck at the game, then say "you're just playing the game wrong" if you complain that the build you're using isn't working when their's is numerically broken.

I actually liked D3, but right now, the current gameplay loop for me to level up is to just grind the same dungeon over and over again. The people that do this are the same people that say D3 was bad because all you did was run rifts. Dungeons are just not fun. There is SO MUCH BACK TRACKING in dungeons, just running through hallways and caves that you already cleared out, it's just not fun.

Mounts, they make no sense. Nevermind the movement is so janky and laggy that I've stopped using it all together, but having a mount in an open world game like this says one of two things; either they know the map is too big and you need a mount to get around or they want to sell you mount cosmetics in the store.

There needs to be more build variaty. And it's not about numbers. The aspects for blood magic on necro are just bad. The reason every end game build centers around bone spear for necro? It's because it has the best legendary aspects for it. It has nothing to do with numbers, the aspects for them are just useless.

If you want to play through the story and play through some of the side missions, which are honestly really good, then it's worth the base game price tag. If you're looking for a forever game, go try PoE. It's **** free.

    -World Scaling-
Scaling for the game is tuned fine, it is a big debate and common misconception of players believing that difficulties are too hard but when there is only 4 difficulties and 2 of them are intended after level 50 they pose a good challenge and I think they are tuned well. Good things take time, there's no reason to rush to T4 without being prepared and going in with any setup with no gear effort and expecting to just automatically win.

    -Skills / Tree-
The skill tree is a little small and only offers so many differences between skill choice or passives when approaching builds but this isn't something new for diablo. Diablo skill tree and passives are meant to be more user friendly while still holding some choices for the player and not to be overwhelming with choices to the point of getting lost similar to other ARPG skill trees.

    -Mounts-
The mount system and function is probably the weakest point of the game and the way the mount functions in accordance to where your mouse is needs addressed and fixed but the initial implementation is a good start, hopefully some fixes and improvements to come.

    -Inventory-
The inventory system and stash works similarly to diablo 3 but has added tabs in the inventory for some items which is helpful however a gem inventory tab is definitely needed, the rest is easily manageable and it is nice to have things like quest items, gear aspects and elixirs separate from gear.

    -Loot-
A lot of players have complaints regarding legendries not feeling rewarding since you can simply upgrade rares into legendries but this assists with gearing towards a build that you want to play after searching for gear with certain stat bonuses on them rather than just having to endlessly farm legendries and hope they roll the exact stats that you need. I think this improves upon the system started in D3 where you would upgrade a type of rare and hope it came out as the specific legendary you were searching for.

    -Materials Vs Gold
Like any common goal within a game when trying to progress you have the ability to pick the things you focus on and how you spend your time and efforts. There have been many complaints surrounding the aspect of do you sell or do you salvage spare gear and some saying they run out of gold or materials and frankly I find them both easy to come by. Needing gold to do things with gear is a natural part of the game and re-doing your spec early on takes almost no gold to do so. If you find yourself running out of materials or gold you are likely doing too much to gear too fast or respecing very often to try new things.

    -Progression-
With the added ability of upgrading rare gear to legendaries the gearing progression feels pretty natural. If you are playing naturally it will likely take you just a few days to get into T3 progression and a few following that to get into T4. Again, common complaints are that it is too time intensive but I don't understand why everyone thinks they are going to be in T4 within 3 days of playing.

    -Final summary
Don't take diablo for a game that it is not, it is an ARPG grinding game with a mostly simplistic skill tree and a more expansive paragon tree with additional rune systems. It's a game with different gear multipliers and skill bonuses that assist your build depending on your playstyle and how you are aiming to build and play. Take your time, read your loot and upgrade your gear when you can while trying out new things to have fun and you will be able to get through the levels and difficulties and have a lot of fun doing it. Oh, and "git guud".

The campaign is good, though it may fall short in some places. The characters are compelling and relatable allowing you to make a good connection with them. Lillith is a great villian with obvious motivations who is twisting the world around her as people commit unspeakable acts and the lands are once more ravaged by demons. It was nice to see some returning bosses from Diablo 2 here as well.

Gameplay and character progression is simple enough to understand and isn't bogged down by overcomplicated systems like Path of Exile for instance. The skill tree is very straight forward and legendaries add a lot to how a build plays and are, for the most part, easily accesible.

D4 is by no means a perfect game and it has its issues, primarily QoL. These by no means make it a bad game and they will likely be addressed in future releases but it does keep the score down to an 8/10 for me personally.

Edit: Changing to 10/10 to hopefully offset the no life neckbeards that are giving 0/10 for idiotic reasons.

I’m not gear locked and I can decimate with any build of my own liking. No more being stuck with seasonal gear and or spells/abilities. The map is so huge and it’s not a linear path walking game like the old Diablo games from the past. You can actually explore and there is no wrong way to play. PvP is here which is one option that we have all wanted. World boss fights?! Yeah, I said it I’ve never seen more than 4 people on my screen fighting in previous Diablo’s before until the World Boss.

The graphics are beautiful seriously, they’re literally peering in through the tops of the dilapidated roofs of structures/buildings with amazing floral and fauna in your surroundings. A great game for everyone especially for Dad’s and Mom’s to play with or without your kids especially, for the amount of time we don’t get to play games while we work I’ve had entirely too much fun. The voice actors really helped steer this awesome story into absolute belief in portraying their characters. After 2 weeks from launch, I’m still leveling and grinding there is soooo much to do. I’m super Excited to see World Tier 5 update and future updates. Keep on Keepin on thank you for your hardwork Dev Team

Diablo IV is an absolute disaster of a game and a slap in the face to the loyal fans who have supported the franchise for years. The graphics are a complete mess, with muddy textures and uninspired character designs that lack any semblance of creativity or imagination. The story is an insult to the intelligence of gamers, with a paper-thin plot that feels like it was written by a child.

The gameplay is equally disappointing, with repetitive, mind-numbing combat that lacks any sense of challenge or excitement. The RPG elements that made the previous games so engaging have been stripped away in favor of a shallow, loot-driven system that feels like a cheap knockoff of other games in the genre. The addition of microtransactions only serves to highlight the game's greedy and exploitative nature.

In short, Diablo IV is a failure on every level. It's a game that was clearly rushed to market without any care or consideration for the player experience. The developers have completely lost touch with what made the franchise so beloved in the first place and have created a hollow, soulless cash grab that is an insult to the legacy of Diablo.

Moreover, the game seems to have lost its soul and has become a mere shell of its former self. The once-compelling RPG elements have been replaced with shallow, loot-driven mechanics that feel more like an idle clicker than a true Diablo game. The addition of microtransactions only adds insult to injury, making it clear that the developers prioritize profit over creating a fun and engaging experience for their fans.

Overall, Diablo IV is a huge disappointment. It's a sad reminder that even the most beloved franchises can fall from grace when they lose sight of what made them great in the first place.

Properties and stats are convoluted beyond intuitive notion.

You are conditioned to build predetermined synergies in your character. A big illusion of choice, since it all comes down to bigger numbers. There are some different skills that you can change accordingly to some personal preferences, but still, you can't escape the synergies to make them work.

The endgame is just repetitive and meaningless. You don't have clear goals, just mark some checkboxes and optimize your damage as much as you can through min-max of stats.

Diablo is much closer to an incremental game or a slot machine than an actual game.

Lost Ark is better in every single way. Unfortunately, Lost Ark is doomed by its monetization. Diablo, despite being an inferior game as a whole, still doesn't really force you to pay for anything outside the overpriced price tag. Seriously. Diablo is incredibly overpriced for what it actually is.

Why didn't Blizzard create a brand new game in the Diablo universe? Why didn't Blizzard try to create a whole new concept for isometric ARPG games? It's just the same thing from the past, an outdated design that makes no sense to exist other than tradition and lack of better ideas.

People have the expectation of staying in the game for the 'endgame'. The core campaign, the core progress is no longer the focus.

Blizzard knows that very well. They've made the entire game around the concept of farming nonstop to keep min-maxing (through forced build concepts). All right, that's not a problem, but why do you have such an awful feeling of progression and decision making? Or the overall lack of necessity to even pursue that in the first place? Usually, it's fun to make stronger characters, so you can see them perform better in new and better content, and keep pushing through. In Diablo that's not even the case. You have "Capstone Dungeons". That's the best they have to offer. Let alone the fact that it's all repetitive, but I'll skip that.

Diablo 4 is not a bad game, I'd even call it a good game, although it does have its flaws.
The biggest flaw is the level scaling flattening the difficulty curve too much, making the game feel far less challenging and rewarding than other ARPGs while leveling. I think seasons will suffer from this, as players will not enjoy leveling a character over and over again for very long.

Capstone dungeons are a great feature to improve the challenge/reward dynamic of the game, but sadly there are few. And with the first one at level 50, it's quite a long way to get there, too long to repeat often.
Overall the game is ok, story is ok, dungeons are ok, mobs are ok, items are ok, classes are ok, skills are ok. But there in lies the problem, it's all just... ok.
The developers didn't take any risks, they didn't think out-of-the-box, they just delivered a generic ARPG in every possible way. They didn't push the genre in a new and exciting direction, instead they pushed it in the direction of MMORPGs.
Diablo 4 lacks something to set it apart, now it's just a good game, nothing more and unless they do something about it in the first couple of season(s), I think the game will not hold our attention for very long.

Stupid server crashes for hardcore players, a P2W release event "with early access" is fine they want to make money as a service but don't sell me the **** skins at that price being a full price AAA game.

Gameplay - 2/10. I'm bored. I don't really want to keep playing, but I'm trying to give the game an honest shot and get to end game to see if there's anything there. but so far... levels 1-40 on 3 different classes is braindead gameplay with 2/10 fun factor.
The boss battles feel more like a life skill in other mmo's than actual boss battles. On my Barbarian I just feel like I'm trying to chop down a really big (and amazing looking) tree that sometimes moves, and occasionally tickles me with it's branches. It usually results in my standing in one spot, holding left click, occasionally popping Iron Skin, and waiting the allotted 5-10 minutes it takes to slowly chop it down. Using other skills doesn't feel like it makes a difference so why not just hold left click.

I want to like this game. It looks amazing, the art team did such a phenomenal job in both characters and environments and animations. (the armor is a 10/10), but going through this world is probably the most boring gaming experience I've ever had. If it weren't for the visuals, I would have stopped on day 1 after dishing out 140$. Which hopefully speaks volumes.

Why is D4 not a good game at it's current state?

I think the main issue with D4 is the itemization and the item power levels. If I find a shako at level 70 it will have a level requirement of 70. If I find it at level 100, it will have a level requirement of 100. The level 70 shako can roll better item power and better stats. How on earth is that good itemization? I would actually prefer if the world didn't scale at all and the items would not have level requirements either. If I happen to find an overpowered item I would like to be able to just skip 10 tiers of nightmare dungeons and get huge amounts of more xp compared to what I'm used to. I think that would be ok (it would be great actually).

Also boosting friends is totally ok. Everyone starts from level 1 on a new season. If I level up 1 character to lets say 80 and can then carry my friend's alt to level 80 relatively fast, I think I would love that. After you do the initial work of leveling up one of your characters, you should be able to get carried on your alts.

What is the point of even getting a rare item like shako if I actually do nothing with it? I am gatekept by my own level and the xp bonus of higher level mobs being restricted to 25% on +3 levels. I feel like after hitting level 80 you have the same power level each time you level up since you just add +1 NMD tier.

I really want to be able to recycle items between my alts, (See d2 SoJ that has a level requirement of 29 and is a total end game item).

I also feel like the game really lacks excitement that we are used to when identifying a set amulet on d2 and wishing for rasha's amulet or identifying a ring and wishing for SoJ. The whole aspect and enchantment system guarantees gear progress in a really boring way.

Also I think I have gotten every possible sorceress unique in the game (because there is a lower chance of getting uniques from other classes?). That is silly. Its like I'm guaranteed these items after 2 weeks of playing. Having a wider array of possible loot for all classes and not making them account bound is the way to go. Trading was a big part of d2.

The biggest issue with the itemization at the moment is that there are level requirements to the items and that they only drop to your class, they are account bound and they roll stats for your class. There are stupid stats like "Damage to frozen, damage to cc, damage to immobilized, damage to chilled, damage to slowed, damage to stunned, etc..." This system is overly complicated (I can understand the system, but the design is stupidly complicated and unnecessary (KISS, Keep it stupid simple)) and restrictive in regards to sharing items between your alts or trading them. No-one is going to need my items that roll damage to frozen; not any other player and not any of my alts.

My gear at the moment is really good and I'm only gatekept from the end game content by my own level and the level based damage nerf and damage taken buff at the moment. I feel like this is silly design. I would like my character's strength to be based on the gear more than some arbitrary level based nerf that makes absolutely no sense.

It is also very stupid that if I'm able to do +25 mob level content, it is still optimal to do +3 mob level content. I'm actually punished for doing +25 mob level content as the clear speeds are way slower but I'm not getting more xp. It doesn't even seem to affect the loot I'm getting. Only thing I'm getting, is more glyph XP but its still faster to grind glyph levels on lower tiers. I think this is because they solved the balancing and progression problem with this lazy system. It doesn't really even matter what gear you have because there is a guaranteed gear progression with the aspect system. Only thing that matters in this game is level. And its stupid.

If it was possible to make higher level content with your friends and get rewarded of it as well as share items, this would be a multiplayer game. This is essentially a single player game at the moment.

I think many of the comments here are overly critical. The game certainly has many issues, but it also has a lot going for it. I've been a hard fan of D2, I still play D2 to this day and think it's one of the best in the RPG genre. That said, I don't think D4 deserves the hate it is currently receiving.

Starting off with what the game got right in my opinion:
    - Amazing cinematics (as usual for a Blizzard game)
    - Great visuals and got a nice dark atmosphere, although coloring are too mono-tone in some areas (sometimes just too gray)
    - Good campaign story (although I wish it was longer)
    - Great map diversity (deserts, frigid mountains, swamp, beach, caves, etc...)
    - Awesome character customization. Character looks awesome without spending a penny on cosmetics
    - Monsters feel good to slay
    - Great monster visuals

    Now onto the major negatives:
    - Itemization is somewhat lacking. White and blues literally have no purpose. Also, base item literally has no meaning; whether its a fur-lined boots or a greaves has no difference. Gems are useless after obtaining flawless versions. Perhaps introduce crafting options? Rares are just there to be upgraded to legendaries.
    - Legendaries and aspects are too important and specific to your build. They should be powerful, yes, but not a bottleneck for what build you can or can't do. This makes the game feel like you just choose which pre-set build Blizzard created for you. Also, since you can just transfer aspects, the item itself doesn't seem to matter unless they're uniques. so Legendary items don't actually feel "Legendary".
    - Due to the aforementioned two points, there is no diversity in builds. Every character above lvl 50 is running legendaries on every piece sprinkled with uniques. Also, there are only 5 core skills to choose from, some of which are too underpowered to be a viable option. (Perhaps add more core spells, or improve options for a hybrid build).
    - Scaling makes the progression feel bland. Why does a bear that I died to at lvl 40 still pose a potential threat to me at lvl 60? Maybe limit scaling to certain areas?

I think this game has a solid foundation for an awesome game. There are many more issues (horses, trading, social aspect), but I decided to focus on the major issues. If you're a more casual RPG game player (AC Origins-Valhlala, Skyrim) this game will likely be enjoyable. For the more hardcore players (D2, POE, Witcher), this game might feel somewhat underwhelming. That said, it's only been about a week since release, so I think has a lot of potential for growth.

Contrived builds which leave little to the users imagination with a very simplified tree and paragon points that simply just add raw power. Itemization is unimaginative as they are simply just skill sticks based around item power. All builds revolve around a "basic" skill that generates resources for your "Core" skills. It's very dumbed down. Once you reach around level 80-84 you start to notice the grind for the next level breakpoint. It's all just a matter of finding the right combination of +% damage and attributes that are meta for your character.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table.
