NeiR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is an improved remake of an okay game. The changes that have been actioned are impressive and they in turn make the experience all so much better. Just be aware that many of the basic elements that held back the original are still present.

Doom 64 on Xbox One is exactly what you have come to expect from the franchise. There's nothing new or surprising here, but it's another solid set of demon slaying levels nonetheless. In all honesty, as Doom II was to Doom, it feels as if it could simply be an expansion to the original game. However, as the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

From Space comes together well; in fact, it is one of the better twin stick shooters I’ve played. Playing solo is okay, but it really comes alive with a group of players, whether friends or strangers. What have you got to lose - apart from a few hours of your life?

I would highly recommend Undead Horde if you want some seriously fun gameplay – or just want to raise undead chickens to do all evil.

Stylish, slick and set in Small Heath, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind on Xbox One is a strong first outing for the family. It may be a little on the short side, but it’s a refreshingly different way to test your gray matter.

Boulder Dash Deluxe manages to find a place in the heart. It’s a well crafted, delicately delivered modern take on an utter classic. There are enough stages in place to keep you diving into the boulder moving madness for a decent length of time, all while managing to keep the flow and draw that the original provided.

Peachy Boy is one of those games that should come with a warning for achievement hunters. Yes, you will get 1000 Gamerscore for three minutes of your time. But consider, for a moment, sticking around for a little longer. Because Peachy Boy is a puzzle-platforming treat; just as sweet and disposable as the name implies.

I felt like I have grown along with the game, however, the constant graphical issues and glitches do pull it down to a point of annoyance that couldn’t be ignored.

You'll more than enjoy your time with Necro Story. It doesn't take itself too seriously, the characters are personable, and you do begin to care about their fates.

Bonkies on Xbox is a charming puzzle game at heart, which is best enjoyed with friends. It’s not without its niggles, however there’s a genuinely enjoyable experience on offer here which will appeal to gamers of all ages.

The narrative and atmosphere are both great from start to finish and it’s easy to pick up and play. The puzzle elements are excellent, and for conundrum fans out there this delivers a bit of a treat. It can get tricky mind, so you’ll want to be aware of that, and there are definitely a few odd issues that crop up – the ease of getting lost and lack of mission signposting both worry.

One can complete the entirety of the standard mode in around an hour and should be able to grab every achievement in about 30 minutes. Despite this, I hope it doesn’t become a game for achievement hunters to rinse and leave, I hope people play it for the reason I enjoyed it. It feels like a game created for the love of 2000s platformers and it deserves that same love in return.

Rollerdrome is a unique idea that is, for the most part, executed brilliantly. Aside from a few ultra-specific quirks, traversal feels intuitive and looks ripped out of a stylish action movie. Challenges and high scores give the game ample replayability, and the campaign is addicting enough to complete in just one or two sittings.

Cloudpunk on Xbox One is something I have loved spending time with, mostly thanks to the beautifully designed future city. It's a big old journey for an indie game, however if you’re not particularly a fan of narrative and story, needing more action in your games, then I don't think this is going to be for you. Even if you are happy to take in a ton of lore, there are still times when it needs some pace injections, and I could have done with more to involve myself after the main focus finishes. But if you want to get lost in a cyber world then you can't go wrong by delivering some packages with Cloudpunk.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers builds a gaming stronghold worthy of defending the honour of the tower defense genre, but there are a couple of weak spots. The strategic elements ensure a real challenge is to be had as you get to grips with the many enemy waves heading your way.

Forsaken is the shot in the arm that Destiny 2 needed. Now it feels like there is a purpose, something to push for in grinding the end game content, and this makes a difference.

SiNKR 2 on Xbox, much like the original game, is a great time. It is equal parts relaxing and satisfying for the majority of the 87 levels, and the difficulty is pretty well-balanced. Sinking a puck in a hole is just as satisfying as ever, and the low asking price makes the game all the more worthwhile.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is ambitious, but a little flawed. The scope of the game is amazing, and the world is a pretty cool place to be, but technical issues drag the score back a bit, sadly.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge - Director’s Cut on Xbox One is a fun and unique game that I can definitely recommend picking up. Again, it’s not going to be a hardcore platformer with a crazy elaborate story, but it will be a relaxed adventure with incredibly catchy music.

There is a lot packaged into the six-hour runtime for The Last Worker. With an engaging if slightly predictable story but more game elements than you can shake a stick at, it is a game that will take you through a range of emotions: laughter, sympathy, rage, compassion, disappointment, and everything in between.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is a game that has been made with care. The world, art design, and music all come together for an extremely enjoyable experience. The gameplay mechanics work well, and the RNG of using dice in a deckbuilder is handled in a way that doesn’t feel unfair.

View it as a high concept rom-com, or buy into the earnest and endearing attempts to bring modern dating to your living room, and Ten Dates might become more than your new best friend. We fell in and out of love with its scrappy cast, and would happily live in a world where we get these once every couple of years.

Indivisible on Xbox One is super stylish, charming and loads of fun to play. There is a slightly wonky difficulty curve to get to grips with and the game will set you back a fair few pennies, however, if you’re looking for something different to lose yourself in, you’ve found it.

We’re a little enamored with Just a Little Purr Suit. It’s not got a big budget sheen, or even a mid-budget sheen. What it does have is a brilliant concept and some clever, tightly wound puzzles that will require deep thought to complete.

Spending a few hours with The Mermaid of Zennor is not for the faint of heart, but it’s worth sticking with for a multitude of reasons. As long as you’re able to handle the dark themes and are prepared to see the world through the eyes of a very troubled young girl, then this is a visual novel you should be reading.
