    Cloudpunk on Xbox One is something I have loved spending time with, mostly thanks to the beautifully designed future city. It's a big old journey for an indie game, however if you’re not particularly a fan of narrative and story, needing more action in your games, then I don't think this is going to be for you. Even if you are happy to take in a ton of lore, there are still times when it needs some pace injections, and I could have done with more to involve myself after the main focus finishes. But if you want to get lost in a cyber world then you can't go wrong by delivering some packages with Cloudpunk.

    Writing off Cloudpunk as nothing but a visual attraction will be doing it a great disservice. Sure the splendour of the cyberpunk voxels and the glitz of all that billboard electricity is magnetic, but there’s also a great undercurrent of mystique that you will be spending time peeling away at that Cloudpunk becomes much more than eye candy. The unchallenging basicness may be off-putting, and coupled with stymieing technical issues Cloudpunk can be a bit of a mess that you may fail to forgive. Stick with it though and there is a tasty and indulgent piece of cyberpunk intrigue in here that will please those thirsty for something futuristic and adorned with lights in the night sky. Flawed but fascinating, Cloudpunk is short and straightforward but its elegance and its world should be enough to suck you in for as long as it lasts.

    From a design perspective, Cloudpunk is fabulous. Stunning soundtrack, a lovely little voxel-art world, but the game itself (and the bugs! So many bugs!) don’t really inspire like the world itself. In truth, it gets incredibly repetitive and rather boring the longer the games goes on, and the narrative isn’t strong enough to get its hooks into you.

    While I believe the story could have been delivered more smoothly, there is no faulting the effort gone into voicing all conversations and making sure that the simple gameplay loop remains engaging for many hours. There’s an amateurish, almost cobbled-together feel about Cloudpunk in general, which luckily connects with its aesthetic, coming together in a nice, shiny, pixelated indie pie.

    fantastic game! Great characters, good landscape and the driving is addictive. Loved it.

    Cloudpunk is the name of a delivery company that operates in the future city of Nivalis, delivering whatever, or whomever the job requires andCloudpunk is the name of a delivery company that operates in the future city of Nivalis, delivering whatever, or whomever the job requires and asking zero questions in the process of performing that task. They have flying cars and they actually deliver your packages on time as a good delivery company should, after all you paid for it right? Anyway, you play the role of "Rania" who is a new employee for the company who is trying to make money as quickly as possible to pay off her maintain of debt, who unwittingly finds herself embroiled in the plot, and a conspiracy, and all the usual things you'd expect from an unusual company shipping things of any nature legal or not. The story here is only intermittently engrossing, and by the time it all wraps up you'll likely be left wondering what it was all about to begin with. The worse the tales told while making the said deliveries pay better, as you're introduced to a selection of citizens with an array of problems, and some of their stories can pan out differently depending on choices you ultimately make. Gameplay as an employee of Cloudpunk you're expected to deliver packages around Nivalis, sometimes maybe with the constraints of a time limit to complete your job at hand. You'll do this by piloting your HOVA which is a flying car we were all promised by the year 2000 that you can customize as well. Keeping an eye on both how much gas you've got left and whether your vehicle needs any repairs is key. It's a simple and straight-forward game which isn't terrible but not overly great either. It had just enough juice to keep Cloudpunk from bottoming out during the roughly ten hours of gameplay on offer on Xbox One. There's several minor technical problems, and a recurring annoyance where you're often given the next location at the end of a conversation. This means you've got to just sit there hovering waiting for them to tell you where to go after their story rather than telling you where to head next and then having a conversation on the way to your next destination. Cloudpunk does offer a great synthetic soundtrack to enjoy while playing so this did help ease the pain when you must wait for your next destination. I feel this one will be a love or hate affair for most players, I did have a bit of guilty pleasure and enjoyment from it and I hope you do the same given its fair price of admission, I'd say it's worth purchasing for your Xbox One library since I've not really played much in the same fashion as what Merge Games has put together for us here in Cloudpunk.… Expand
