While Destiny: Beyond Light on Xbox does axe more content than it adds, it is still worth playing through. The new world is an interesting place, and with a lot of post story content coming from Variks, the scope to have fun is large. A new Raid makes me happy indeed, and with new exotic quests and Hunts to take part in the future does appear to be bright.

This is a solid and really engaging hardcore retro throwback, and so if you’re looking for a blast to the past, you’ll feel like a kid again playing Oniken.

Hidden Cats in Spooky Village is as good as all the other Hidden Cats in… games, which is to say that it’s very good indeed. Finding cats is as seamless, characterful and cozy as it has always been. Just with added Cthulhu.

This is a colourful hidden object game suitable for a wide audience to enjoy, with fun and recognisable themes present to add character to proceedings. Sure, it’d be nice for a few more time periods to feature in order to provide extra variety and the map editor is a tad overwhelming, but it’s not the end of the world.

The games included in Gex Trilogy are undeniably fun, and stem from a time when gameplay was the most important thing. That ethos shines through in everything found in this reissue.

Darkestville Castle on Xbox One is a great game for fans of the genre and new arrivals. The art style is clean and fun, the story is wacky, and there is plenty of content to justify picking it up. If nonsensical puzzles and point and click games are your thing, you can’t go wrong with a copy of Darkestville Castle.

Streets of Rogue on Xbox One is a totally solid roguelike game that will please fans of the genre and can easily eat up many hours, experimenting and playing around with the humorous world that Matt Dabrowski has created.

Whilst nothing in Mekabolt on Xbox One is found to be reinventing the wheel, what is on offer is a couple of hours of old school fun and games in a beautifully realised 8-bit setting.

You'll probably be able to complete Papetura in less than two hours, but I like a short experience that is full of quality, rather than something stretched out with fluff. Papetura delivers on this.

Afterparty on Xbox One is a brilliantly fun game. It has memorable characters, a unique setting and funny, macabre writing that will keep you coming back for more.

Rarely do you find anything in StickType that goes beyond the basics, and with a story that doesn’t explain itself too well, and an overbearing difficulty on occasions, the less patient gamers may not want to stick around. However, should you be after a game that will push your capabilities, whilst providing all the essential qualities of a decent platforming experience, then StickType is a game that you need to play. The super cheap price point helps too.

I’ve had a great story experience with The Assembly. It’s got a wonderful central premise that it explores beautifully, with a world that is full of integrity and intrigue. The sections revolving around Dr Stone are the more successful of the two, with brilliant puzzles and superb conundrums. The game finishes way too early, just as it feels like it’s really starting to find its feet, but maybe that’s okay when you take in the price.

Long Ago: A Puzzle Tale takes a simple enough puzzle mechanic that anyone can grasp and snowballs it into a proper tough challenge by adding fresh mechanics in regularly. Sure, the storytelling leaves a little to be desired and the environments don’t have the wow factor, but if you’re after a puzzler then this is one adventure to consider wholeheartedly.

Q-YO Blaster is a game that has a lot going for it. It has multiple difficulties to try your arm at, with an Arcade Extreme mode unlockable in case the regular game isn’t tough enough. There’s a mighty fine couch co-op mode as well. Further, the controls work well, the challenge is high, and above all it’s all damn good fun.

For the amount of puzzle solving included, and the low asking price, Tales From Candleforth will appeal. Those with a taste for dark fairy tales will be well catered for, but on top of that is a game that provides some great puzzles mixed perfectly with point and click elements and escape room mechanics.

While there are issues, the pace and exuberance of the action on display is very appealing, and so if you are looking for the next level of Survivor style game, you might well have just found it in Bloodshed.

With a little less grind, a little more control over the random whims of the deck, and a little more respect for my time, I think Death Howl would have been a masterpiece.

Wildmender is a delightful, intuitive survival action-adventure. It may drop into a busy market and genre, but it offers something different, what with a beautiful and interesting story and world to explore.

PROJECT ZERO : Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a very scary, very compelling game that, even with a couple of control niggles, is still more than worth a play. The atmosphere that is summoned up is great, as are the ghosts and the story, but an overhaul of the controls would have been welcome.

Albatroz is a relaxing game with a compelling story, beautiful visuals, and a vast world to explore. The soundtrack is excellent, creating a soothing atmosphere. While the game occasionally suffers from framerate issues, and the survival mechanics can feel more tedious than engaging, the overall experience is enjoyable.

WrestleQuest is a great RPG adventure that’s oozing with personality. Full of exciting grappling, it’s absolutely a love letter to a bygone era, but it also works for those unfamiliar with the wrestling business, thanks to a cavalcade of quirky characters and eccentric drama.

Will Until Then be for everyone? I don’t think so. Even though it is a brilliant entry in the visual novel department, I suspect the slow pacing might become an issue for some. You spend a lot of time reading and watching, rather than actively playing. However, the way Until Then presents itself is entirely unique in terms of visual design, sound, and editing. It also boasts some fabulous mini-games that offer a nice distraction from the main events.

If you enjoyed what True Colors originally delivered, you’ll certainly enjoy more of being in this world with Wavelengths, and that’s not only because you’ll get the chance to give Steph a little more time. She may not have been everyone’s favorite character initially, but Wavelengths and the five hours or so of gameplay it brings, certainly changes that.

I do wish there were a few campaign missions with the Tyranids and it can definitely be a bit of a daunting prospect for newcomers, but if you push through will find that Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a wonderful experience that will make you get the miniatures out again. I do love a good point-and-click adventure, and Scott Whiskers: The Search for the Golden Cat is a great yarn. It feels like a lovely family friendly game, mostly because of its themes and the wholesome main hero. However, younger gamers may well struggle with some of the puzzles as they can be a bit tricky at times.

Farm Sliders is a simple game, with a simple premise, and simple presentation. And who’s to say that this isn’t what we need in our increasingly frenetic lives? For a quick pick up and play, five minute gaming session, it is hard to think of another game that would be as much fun, and quite so relaxing.
