The Riven remake makes its return to the scene with absolute pomp, proving once again how much the journey is more important than the destination. The graphic modernization is illustrious and of absolute caliber, as well as everything else, elevated to the asymptote of wonder. If you consider the Final Fantasy soundtrack worthy of being counted among the heritages of humanity, then Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is the music game for you. Rich in tracks and truly suitable for everyone, with a very well-calibrated level of difficulty. The Crimson Diamond is not a game for everyone; indeed, the adventure genre, already quite niche in its own way, is made even more hostile by the presence of text-based controls. However, anyone should try this experience, because such well-packaged products rarely come out and transcend the nostalgia operation by offering a story worthy of Agata Christie in the artistic guise that made the defunct, but still alive in the hearts of fans, Sierra On-Line so famous. The excellently crafted parser and a notepad full of hints make it much more accessible than you might imagine.- The Games Machine

An enveloping production, complete and well composed in every nuance. It's really a lot, a lot of stuff, something that never abandons and that entertains, taking you back in time focusing on the present and the future without compromise. It is a language that can do good, that can be essential and unique, that can set the tone for the future. There is passion, there is love, there is a desire to do and, above all, there is a desire to go against the grain. Go beyond the market itself.- The Games Machine

Lately, the gaming landscape has seen a constant stream of open world action-rpgs that feel vapid and bloated and that might as well have all come from the same mold. This isn’t Everspace 2’s case, however. Rockfish’s game builds and improves upon the achievements of its predecessor, delivering an incredibly entertaining combat, beautiful vistas, and plenty of content, managing to bring a much-needed breath of fresh air in an over-crowded genre.- The Games Machine

All in all, Voidigo is just another twin stick shooter with roguelite dynamics, but it ranks among the best of all time in its genre. What does this mean? That if you love this type of game, it's a must-have that will keep you hooked for a long time. If, on the other hand, you are used to a more lukewarm reception to roguelites, then this could be your chance to try a video game that represents excellence. Finally, if you are fed enough with this type of gameplay, try to have it as a dessert, and you won't regret it.- The Games Machine

Dragon's Dogma 2 is an extremely engaging open world action game, featuring a combat system that is practically flawless and a huge map full of secrets to explore. It follows a philosophy of its own and for this it deserves to be rewarded, but the optimization problems that afflict the PC version tested during the review do not allow it to achieve excellence, at least for the moment.- The Games Machine

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a great second season that makes the already beautiful Oxenfree feel like a pilot episode. An intense, exciting and playfully aware narrative adventure, capable of perfectly integrating gameplay with writing. Artistically remarkable, thematically profound, full of tense situations, where to make decisions and direct the fate of our protagonists, playing the part that seems most suitable to us, without the story ever lacking in coherence. If this is what Netflix wants to do with the video game, the future looks rosy for lovers of this genre (success permitting). Radio chills.- The Games Machine

Everything has led to this... Resident Evil Requiem is the game that sums up 30 years of the saga, taking us back to where it all began. Pokémon Pokopia is a beautiful game that perfectly embodies the Pokémon soul. Omega Force's Animal Crossing-Minecraft hybrid makes friendship its cornerstone, and between one construction and another, between one friend and another, the world torn apart by selfishness seems to be reborn in the blink of an eye. What is most refreshing about Helldivers 2 is not just the fact that it’s an incredibly fun game, but that Arrowhead managed to grow in scope without losing its identity: this is, without question, a game made by the same people who created Magicka so many years ago. The Outer Worlds is Obsidian Entertainment’s magnum opus, an RPG with an enticing and multifaceted ruleset set in a dystopian capitalistic society. Its only flaws reside in the combat system and gunplay, but these are easily counterbalanced by the excellent writing and the many possibilities offered to the players. Let’s hope Obsidian will explore this setting further, possibly with a much needed sequel.- The Games Machine

As is traditional for Ice-Pick Lodge, Pathologic 3 is not a game designed to entertain, please, or make the player comfortable with welcoming introductions, explanations, and power fantasies. It's a game that demands to be approached on its own terms. Whether you like them or not, those are the terms. It's not a "physical" ordeal like its predecessor; the protagonist's torment this time is certainly more cerebral. However, the beauty of fragility remains intact. No matter how much power and knowledge are accumulated, even knowing in advance what will happen in 5 days, some events are inevitable. Others can only be mitigated. Others can be changed at a very high price. It's not a world of heroes, but rather of humans (and non-humans) with all their differences, doing the best they can with what they have, against an enemy about whom they even have differing opinions.- The Games Machine

More than a remake, Project-X Light Years is the modern sequel to a great classic that made history and, in addition to being one of the best 'reboots' ever seen for IPs of the past, it is also one of the best side-scrolling shmups released in recent months, competing with Yuzo Koshiro's Earthion for my very own award for the most interesting of the season. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a sequel that builds on the legacy of Relic Entertainment. It does so by offering an exciting campaign that perfectly conveys that feeling of perpetual war and all the “grimdark” typical of its setting. Even without ever reaching the depth typical of other games in the same genre, the combat system infuses all the physicality and brutality of the Astartes. The optimization is also good, despite some small flaws that can be easily solved with a round of patches. The modern superhero genre, with its real-world heroes and corporate dynamics, is very complicated to manage, even for those who work with superheroes every day. Those who expected major innovations in Sonic Superstars should not have expected major innovations in Sonic Superstars. Sonic always remains Sonic, precisely because he is Sonic. New heights have been reached in this particular type of level design, which alternates sections in which the hedgehog splashes like a pinball, apparently without any possibility of control on our part, with almost pixel perfect movements in which excellent timing is also required . Bosses, as always, require careful analysis of movement patterns. Everything else is a pleasant side dish, but at the base there is always the old but superlative Sonic gameplay.- The Games Machine

Fire Emblem: Three Houses succeeds in bringing a breath of fresh air into a saga that is perhaps too anchored to its own style, it does so by renewing the experience without losing sight of the deep strategic soul that has always been the trademark of Intelligent Systems’ works. The pace of the game may seem a bit diluted to the most fundamentalist fans, but the overall result is, in our opinion, absolutely convincing and worthy.- The Games Machine

Shadow of the Erdtree might have some flaws – reusing certain enemies, inconsistent boss balance, patchwork world design – but even so, it’s still Elden Ring at its core and it’s still leagues ahead of most other high-profile open world games. Definitely a worthwhile addition, and for a fair price, for any fan of the base game. Just make sure you look up how to get to Mohg first.- The Games Machine

Marvel's Spider Man 2 is a true blockbuster, a chapter that cannot be postponed for those who have experienced the previous adventures of Peter and Miles, as well as one of the most important gaming events of the year. It plays a little too safe in several areas, but overall it remains an exciting title and a highly recommended adventure for all fans of Spider-Man and superhero comics in general.- The Games Machine

As beautiful to play as the first Horizon Zero Dawn, as beautiful to look at as the latest Horizon Forbidden West. This is how you can sum up this Remastered, which keeps the gameplay of the original intact while increasing the graphic rendering thanks to the greater hardware resources available. In particular, Aloy and the other characters are now much more expressive and move in a world in which nature is lush and the anthropic structures stand out solemnly among volumetric effects with a realistic day/night cycle. Those who have recently played the original may not want to spend another forty hours on the Remastered, for newcomers it is one of the best ARPGs around.- The Games Machine

As Xbox One and PS4 players already knows, Monster Hunter World Iceborne is an almost perfect expansion, with numerous new monster and new gameplay features, confirming the care of Capcom for its creature. There’s only a few technical problems with the PC version: lot percentage of CPU usage and some lost savegames, but not in our experience.- The Games Machine

Three of the best Castlevania games in one unmissable package, jam-packed with extras and a bonus game that isn't exactly the best but... it's a bonus so we gladly keep it. Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia, each of these games brought unique features to classic Castlevania gameplay and they are all still extremely enjoyable today.- The Games Machine

AvantGarden Games has done a simple and effective job of bringing back an intense video game. Strengthened by a beautiful story, born from the pen of Joses Fares, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a work of art that explores the most intimate human sides, enhancing the bond that binds one brother to another. Its greatness lies precisely in its simplicity. An excellent remake of an incredible video game.- The Games Machine

Pikmin 4 keeps the solid gameplay foundations of the chapters that preceded it intact, however adding to the original formula a series of (small) innovations capable of making the game even more fun and satisfying. A strategic management suitable for all tastes, from those who like to take things lightly just for fun to those who prefer to go deeper and test themselves by completing the missions in the most complete and efficient way possible.- The Games Machine

A metroidvania that starts by leaning on overused stylistic cues, but gradually takes off into its own and fairly strong identity thanks to an excellent narrative, a great combat system, good customization options, and a well-balanced platform/adventure/action mix.- The Games Machine

The first Mario RPG is still damn fun. Even almost 30 years after its original release, it offers a fun, fresh adventure full of many little surprises. A difficulty level that is not particularly high allows it to be playable even by an audience not particularly accustomed to the genre, but veterans may find it a little too forgiving.- The Games Machine

Giving a score to a game like Destiny 2 is a difficult task: on one hand, the new game from Bungie offers a variety of content so huge, it literally makes your head spin; on the other hand, here and there something is missing, and it often seems like something you'll find in a future expansion or DLC. Anyway, a truly amazing game.- The Games Machine

As time went by, producing one game a year that was bigger and better than the last one became increasingly complicated and expensive. The path taken by WWE 2K24 therefore has its own logic, many small adjustments that overall improve the experience across each mode, and a good dose of additions distributed in each department. A more than worthy celebration for Wrestlemania XL.- The Games Machine

NBA 2K26 confirms its position as the undisputed champion of basketball games in a largely uncompetitive market, sticking with its familiar formula and improving it in a few ways. We really enjoyed the improved fluidity of the match action and the new shooting mode, as well as the structure of the career mode, although the reward system and the myriad of repetitive tasks don't always live up to expectations. As always, we're not particularly fond of in-game transactions, but they're no longer a novelty. The king is back, long live the king! But so many taxes...- The Games Machine

The porting of a title as peculiar as Abzû has gone incredibly well, considering the difficulty of having to find the perfect balance between a lower resolution and the details of a graphic style so poetically minimalist. Giant Squid’s little masterpiece is a must have for those who are inclined to yield to the irresistible call of the sea, even on Nintendo Switch.- The Games Machine

WWE 2K25 moves in the groove of the previous version, which was already excellent, by the way. The main addition is The Island mode, which, however, still appears immature (and a bit of a money-spinner). The rest of the game has enjoyed refinements and adjustments that raise the bar of quality a little more. Unfortunately, at the moment a few bugs undermine stability, but more importantly the audience feel of the arenas is not up to par with the rest of the simulation.- The Games Machine

Albeit a little pricey, Blizzard Mountain offers a completely new scenario, covered in snow and ice. Astounding to watch, it also represents a prominent shift from the old arcade-y driving model to something more challenging and satisfying. The career progression is surprisingly deep, and even if the mere amount of new content isn't as overwhelming as the original game, you'll find yourself knee-deep in the snow for quite a while. With a frozen smile on your face.- The Games Machine

Terra Nil is not and does not try to be a triple A title with an infinite amount of content that will keep us glued to the screen for months and months; Instead, I found it a product that conveys a very clear message while relaxing us with its beauty-oriented style. Perhaps it is not the best choice for those looking for a hardcore experience, but I find it brilliant how the design choices help to convey the environmental concepts that the Free Lives developers evidently have at heart. So on the spot I can't tell which other gaming experience can do the same.- The Games Machine

It is exciting to play a shooter, it is a satisfying to play strategy game. Doing both things at the same time, it is just glorious. Disintegration is extremely balanced for being the first take at this new genre, and it is very well polished, too. The worldbuilding is fascinating, the story is not too bad, but the writing of characters and dialogues is terrible. Luckily the game is just so good.- The Games Machine
