Vernal Edge is a thrilling character action game mixed with an intricate, connected world that’s a joy to explore. The story may not be anything to write home about, but the combat and platforming more than make up for that.

A metroidvania that starts by leaning on overused stylistic cues, but gradually takes off into its own and fairly strong identity thanks to an excellent narrative, a great combat system, good customization options, and a well-balanced platform/adventure/action mix.

Combat is awesome with A LOT OF COMBOS, and the exploration has some inovations because you don't have connected stages , you have isles.
I also like it because you can access some areas early using your skills and moves, like the most metroidvanias, but in this game, this elements is more stronger than others.

I got the game with a lot of expectations checking other earlier reviews, but I found it lackluster.

The game is good, but definitely not worth over 90%. Also ii is not a metroidvania, more of a 2D platformer as the maps of the different areas do not interconnect at all.

The fighting system is the highlight as is fast paces and you have the ability to use a variety of moves. With a little more work, this game could have a lot of potential.

Overall, I would probably recommend the game, but at a lower price point.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The stupid and irrational Bell Riddle made me almost quit the whole game. Make these Games 2 hours shorter and skip these damn backtracking riddles - yaaaahhhwn... Other than that, it was quite a promising Metroidvania-Light with a pretty fast Combat System. The RPG Elements are rudimental but work.

The Thing is... After three Worlds/Maps Everything literally Everything is in repeat. Combat, Enemies, Environments. The PseudoDoubleJump is painful and the Game gets boring pretty quick. After the 7th Crash on Switch during Fights I tend to never come Back to it. Such a pity.
