A really fast-paced metroidvania. Combat is awesome with A LOT OF COMBOS, and the exploration has some inovations because you don't have connected stages , you have isles.
I also like it because you can access some areas early using your skills and moves, like the most metroidvanias, but in this game, this elements is more stronger than others.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The stupid and irrational Bell Riddle made me almost quit the whole game. Make these Games 2 hours shorter and skip these damn backtracking riddles - yaaaahhhwn... Other than that, it was quite a promising Metroidvania-Light with a pretty fast Combat System. The RPG Elements are rudimental but work.

The Thing is... After three Worlds/Maps Everything literally Everything is in repeat. Combat, Enemies, Environments. The PseudoDoubleJump is painful and the Game gets boring pretty quick. After the 7th Crash on Switch during Fights I tend to never come Back to it. Such a pity.

I got the game with a lot of expectations checking other earlier reviews, but I found it lackluster.

The game is good, but definitely not worth over 90%. Also ii is not a metroidvania, more of a 2D platformer as the maps of the different areas do not interconnect at all. The fighting system is the highlight as is fast paces and you have the ability to use a variety of moves. With a

Overall, I would probably recommend the game, but at a lower price point.

Vernal Edge is an engaging Metroidvania with a compelling protagonist, an intriguing story, and fantastic gameplay and combat mechanics that will make you forget you’ve been playing for hours.

A metroidvania that starts by leaning on overused stylistic cues, but gradually takes off into its own and fairly strong identity thanks to an excellent narrative, a great combat system, good customization options, and a well-balanced platform/adventure/action mix.

Vernal Edge is a thrilling character action game mixed with an intricate, connected world that’s a joy to explore. The story may not be anything to write home about, but the combat and platforming more than make up for that.
