We would really like to see the crew at Falcom get a bigger budget to give full speed to this world, this characters and this combat system. Trails into Reverie is a tremendously solid JRPG and a worthy follow up to the Erebonian tetralogy. Just beware: you need to have played some of the previous titles to really appreciate the story.

Spectacular, with an epic story and astonishing graphics: and yet, Final Fantasy XVI forgets what is really important for the series. It's impossibile to create a build and there's nothing important left for you to manage through the menus. Proper RPG options are gone, dungeons are just banal corridors, players are forced to play the entire game in easy mode and you can beat the game with literally no effort. There's a decent base for the future, but it's not enough to see a real rebirth for the saga.

Layers of Fear is not a new game, nor a remake. it seems like a sort of definitive edition that includes the old games of the series and a new section that ties the two stories together. F1 23 improves in many aspects even though it doesn't excel in others. The return of Braking Point is highly appreciated. We also appreciate the changes in the driving model, as well as the improvements on the controller and steering wheel side. The increased force feedback gives hope for future developments. We are a bit disappointed with the technical department, which could definitely do more, especially on the new consoles. We are certain that these limitations are a consequence of the game being released on previous-generation consoles as well. Unfortunately, it's a compromise almost necessary to satisfy a wider user base. All in all, though, we are facing a game that always manages to achieve a good final result.

Nintendo, Intelligent Systems and WayForward hit the mark (almost) across the board: Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp is a product with attention to every detail, an all-round remake that preserves all the good that was in the original products and makes them also attractive to the new generations thanks to a series of precautions and improvements to the user experience. Whether you are looking for a strategic hit and run that introduces you to the genre or one that is only apparently soft but capable of making you sweat a lot, here you will find lots of content and gameplay as punctual as a Swiss watch, which makes the balance and the plurality of approaches some of its cornerstones. We weren't particularly impressed by the new art direction and we would have liked to have access to the two episodes of the series released on Nintendo DS as well, but these are small details in a picture that has left us very satisfied. It is useless to get around it: we all feared that Dead Island 2 was vaporware at first, and then that it would arrive on the shelves not quite in shape, after a long, complicated development that did not bode well. And instead, for once, we are here to tell you about a happy ending: even without rewriting new pages in the history of first-person action RPGs, Dambuster Studios' zombie game turns out to be hilarious, long-lived, with only a handful of mechanics to internalize and lots of fun for those who will. The strengths are represented by the accuracy of the FLESH system, which changes the approach to certain clashes, by the iconicity of many of the locations visited, by the good level of challenge and even by a cooperative that proved to be solid during our tests . On the other hand, neither the feeling of firearms nor the technical sector limited by cross-gen development have fully convinced us, but the final balance remains largely positive.
