An unevenly executed mish-mash of ARK's cornerstone components, ARK Park shows some promise but is ultimately too flawed and poorly constructed to be recommended to anyone but wide-eyed, dino-hungry youngsters.

Minit is fresh and unrelentingly charming little action RPG that does more with 60 second bursts of gameplay than bigger budget efforts manage to do with 60 hours. If you're after something truly unique, Minit should be your next stop.

MLB The Show 18 touches up some places and refines others. Despite missing online franchise, The Show 18 slings a complete game, even if it has a couple of problems on base.

Far Cry 5 is the best Far Cry to date. The great additions and refinements made to the franchise are fantastic. Along with the inclusion of Far Cry Arcade, which extends your play time, Far Cry 5 is the ultimate open-world first person shooter.

A co-op experience like no other, Hazelight's A Way Out goes all in on its defining concept to deliver a remarkable game. It may be a touch lacking in character development and storytelling, but that seems insignificant given what the game itself can give you.

A fun farming sim with tons of options, an intuitive interface and impressive graphics.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a stellar remastering of one of the series most overlooked entries. Though it pales next to Origins, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered generous, content stuffed and budget priced effort still bears revisiting all the same.

Though technically flawed, The Raven Remastered is a leisurely and charming point and click adventure that fans of the genre will enjoy.

The Farewell bonus episode of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm is short but should be required playing for fans of the series. A thoughtful well written glimpse into Max and Chloe’s life before it got so strange.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is pure greatness. Everything it does it does at the highest level. RPG fans owe it to themselves to experience this gem. Easily one of the best games of this generation.

A perfectly average dungeon crawler with hours of gameplay to offer, Titan Quest's flaws are too numerous to properly recommend it above and beyond its genre counterparts.

Look, it's really simple, Burnout Paradise Remastered is essential for fans of racing games everywhere. They just don't make them like this anymore (but they really, really should).

Attack on Titan 2 is a thoughtful and often exhilarating sequel which fans of both the manga and anime will thoroughly enjoy.

The chance to properly spruce up Dante's first three adventures has been missed here, and instead we get the already miserly remasters that appeared on PS3. At a time where it'd be great to remember why Devil May Cry can be so good, we get minimal effort and Devil May Cry 2.

What The Long Reach may occasionally lack in originality, it more than makes up for in inventiveness, personality, and bubbling slow-burn horror chills. This is a well-written, atmospheric horror adventure, and it deserves your attention.

With a serious tone, and a drama laden cast, Q.U.B.E. 2 is simply a cerebral experience. You'll be able to sit down, calm your nerves, and look at things from a different perspective, if only for the time it takes to master a sliding Q.U.B.E. jump.

It may be relatively cheap, and alluring to trophy-hunting fiends, but is losing a portion of your humanity really worth playing a game as despicably dire as Little Adventure on the Prairie?

A poor PSVR shooter, given the pedigree behind its development Bravo Team, should have been much better. As it is, there are much better alternatives worthy of your cash and attention.

Mulaka has some promise, but some issues in certain areas. It has a really cool soundtrack, lovely atmosphere, and the hand drawn style of the graphics makes it stand out. Sadly, some of the mechanics just bring it down a bit. Perhaps with some future updates some of this can be fixed, but at least the foundations of the game are solid, and the story is genuinely interesting.

There's no denying that Past Cure is born from lofty ambitions. Regrettably, those ambitions are not joined with the necessary skill or understanding needed to make Past Cure anything close to a competent, coherent experience. A messy bore of a game that vomits its incoherent nonsense on your shoes as it rambles on mindlessly for ten minutes about why that's important.

Fear Effect Sedna is a stylish but ultimately mediocre tactical take on a franchise that arguably deserved better.

Immortal Redneck works best as an occasional snack, or a palette cleanser, between heavier gaming meals. Playing for any length of time shows up its shortcomings, but in bite-sized pieces it's a good time. The game's humour is rank and dull, but it luckily doesn't detract from the rather pleasing colourful action the game provides.

No, it is not a good Metal Gear game. Yes it is somewhat difficult to love thanks to a laborious and shonky opening act. Yet Metal Gear Survive is a good survival game underneath the grime of its controversial existence. Whether people will give it the chance to show that is a whole other issue.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet could have been an exceptional title in the franchise, with a little more work on its story and skills system, Its combat, exploration, and great boss battles, on the other hand, make Fatal Bullet the best Sword Art Online title to date.

Moss is an irresistibly uplifting landmark experience that is simply essential for PSVR owners everywhere.

A fiendishly cunning effort that oozes challenge and style, DEADBOLT is a must-have for fans of stealth puzzlers everywhere.

The Pillars of the Earth Book Two carries on the great work established by the previous episode, providing a beautifully written narrative, interesting characters and meaningful player choice against the backdrop of some of the most sumptuous locations ever depicted in an adventure game. If you haven't already, now is the time to stop sleeping on The Pillars of the Earth.

Kerbal Space Program is a fascinating educational tool. There's a childlike joy to be had in experimenting with your space-faring efforts. You'll find it hard to appreciate that on PS4 though, as this version is a mess on multiple levels. A genuinely good game is spoiled by a terrible port.

A promising premise and some well-executed puzzles aren't enough to save The Station from the dull nature of its story and characters.

Though not without its faults, Apex Construct offers up an attractive, cleverly constructed and well crafted marriage of action and puzzle solving elements that demands your attention.

Fe features a charming aesthetic and a wonderful soundtrack that elevates with every beat. However, it suffers mechanically in key moments, requiring enough compensation to detract from the game’s overarching intentions. Still, there’s something here, but it’ll be behind a struggle.

A solid first entry in the series. If you’re a Supercross fan then you’ll easily get knee deep into the excellent track editor and have good fun hurtling around its muddy tracks.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is a commendably ambitious open world RPG steeped in a real sense of place and grandeur. That said, the experience remains one that is housed inside a beautiful, though imperfect world in which if you can tolerate its shortcomings, you'll find a great deal to do and enjoy.

Crossing Souls is another great title from Devolver Digital. An awesome 80's science fiction setting with great characters, writing, and electronic music. If you love old science fiction movies you're going to love Crossing Souls.

The transition to an open world has not been easy, quite rough in fact. Still, Dynasty Warriors 9's many changes to the musou formula hold great promise for the future. This is the rebirth the series needed, regardless of its issues.

It's a shame that Seven Deadly Sins first foray into videogames couldn't have been better. As a big fan I enjoyed the Knights of Britannia for what it is but most will find it mediocre at best.

With stylish combat, a ton of game modes and fun combat, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[st] is a blast, especially online with friends.

The third entry in the Dissidia franchise is a good one and fans of the franchise shouldn't miss out on this entry. With a massive roster of characters and entertaining combat, the core Dissidia mechanics are safe and sound. It's just a shame that this entry feels so bare bones, not only with its lack of game modes but in its story execution.

A wonderfully mad and yet eminently compelling take on the party game genre, Marooners is just the shot in the arm that the local multiplayer scene needs on PS4.

Timothy vs the Aliens is a sub-mediocre platformer shooter whose own tragedy is that, for anyone except for the youngsters, nothing of any real substance lurks under its frequently formidable and beguiling veneer.

Horrendously entertaining, boundlessly violent and with one eye on ancient history, Wulverblade provides an exceptionally thoughtful and enticing roadmap for the growth of the side-scrolling brawler. Pick up your controller and prepare for war; the North beckons.

While there are plenty of good aspects to Lost Sphear, it does suffer from dipping into the well of nostalgia a little too often. It captures the essence of 90's Japanese RPGs quite well at times, but the application is uneven and that effectively scuttles a lot that Lost Sphear does right.

The new and improved Shadow of the Colossus brings the game into the modern era successfully. It carries over a few flaws and annoyances, sure, but it's been refined where it matters most, and the net result is a return to the forbidden lands that's just as achingly beautiful and magical as it ever was.

With a varied character roster, stunning graphics and balanced gameplay, Dragon Ball Fighterz is a fantastic entry point for new players, and great fun for fans of the series.

Continuing the great work of previous episodes, What Ails You sets up the season finale of Batman: The Enemy Within wonderfully.

With little in its way, Monster Hunter World smashes expectations with its organic, living, beautiful world. Matchmaking has its quirks and qualms, but little stands in the way of what’s been created here. Monster Hunter World raises the bar high without distilling what made the franchise special in the first place.

EA Sports UFC 3 is the best the series has ever looked, sounded or played and, despite a small handful of minor shortcomings, is quite simply the best UFC title to date and a very real contender for the fighting game throne in 2018.

It took two troubled years, but Street Fighter V is finally where it should be with the Arcade Edition update. If you haven't gotten round to it yet, there's never been a better time to tackle this true king of the fighters.

An entertaining if ultimately shallow instalment in the Until Dawn series, being the most visually stunning PSVR title to date isn't quite enough for The Inpatient to overcome its sluggish pace and reductive game design.

Iconoclasts isn't a trendsetter within its genre on a mechanical level. It has great puzzles and poorly-handled combat. Yet there's such huge amounts of time and personality poured into how Iconoclasts looks, and how its game world is built up, that it's easy to forgive such issues. It's a gorgeous 2D puzzle platformer with interesting characters, and that is enough to see it rise above merely being 'good'.

So if you are looking for a challenging JRPG, with plenty of replay value and an overall fantastic story, picking up this epic game you probably missed is a wise investment. Just be prepared for a death count to rival your Dark Souls score.

A solid ending to the powerful Life is Strange prequel series, Hell is Empty delivers all the emotional beats that you would expect as Chloe and Rachel’s adventures come to a close.

Despite an aggravating interface, this is one of the best space-strategy games I've played in a long time. The battles are epic, the story is engaging and thought provoking, space has never looked so good, and the music is top-tier. I hope Black Lab and Slitherine Studios produce more like it, as there are tons of franchises to choose from, perhaps Babylon 5 or The Orville. Battlestar fans will get their fill of Cylon battling action, and I'm sure will love to add this gem to their collection.

A stumbling and flailing spectacle of a physics brawler, Gang Beasts might have all the poise and grace of a bar dust up on a Friday night, but it remains hugely entertaining when played with friends all the same.

Ultimate Chicken Horse really is a special game, and one of those rare indie multiplayer games that catches lightning in a bottle and will leave you wanting to come back again and again for a good laugh after a stressful day. Just don't try going into single player until you've been online a few times to learn the ropes.

Aqua TV is simple and fun to use, meaning that kids can enjoy themselves too building their own virtual aquarium and then watching the little fishes and sea creatures come to life. It's quite relaxing too.

I had a blast playing through Slayaway Camp. A simple puzzle game that lets me play through some of my favorite horror movies and franchises. The blocky graphics have a great charm to them even though it sometimes gets in the way of the kill animations.

This is another chance for one of the most underappreciated adventures to appear on a PlayStation console to gain a new, much deserved, audience. Time has been fairly kind to Okami despite minor gripes. If you've yet to experience the wonderful world of Okami, then this is as good a chance as any.

Let Them Come takes a singular concept and wraps a whole game around it to great effect. Let Them Come might not be the deepest shooter around, but its bite-sized morsels of alien blasting fun will assuredly keep you coming back for more.

Buckets of adorable charm and solid platforming fundamentals win out over some minor shortcomings to cement A Hat in Time as one of the best surprises of the year.

With a wonderful story to experience, memorable and unique characters to meet, a trap-laden, monster-infested castle to explore, and multiple endings to discover, The Count Lucanor delivers a satisfyingly scary adventure. Though there are still a few bugs to be squashed (most have been taken care of with a day one patch), the port handles fairly well and is definitely worth checking out for any puzzle and/or horror indie game fans.

This is definitely a Dead Rising game, but it certainly isn’t the Dead Rising it once was. This is the greying, shuffling husk of a lovably naff series, turned horrifically bland.

A sometimes limited but deliciously offbeat affair, Oh My Godheads joins the ever expanding roster of couch based multiplayer efforts on PS4 and can easily be recommended to those who can get the mates and the corresponding number of snacks/drinks in.

Despite its scattershot approach to control and bite-sized scope, DOOM VFR provides a tantalizing, gore-soaked and adrenaline filled peek at the future of PSVR.

Though not hugely different from its prequel, Sky Force Anniversary, Sky Force Reloaded nonetheless offers up a compelling slice of vertical scrolling shoot em’ up action that both newcomers and fans of the genre will undoubtedly enjoy.

If you can look past its litany of rough edges, a genuinely enjoyable suspenseful adventure thriller awaits in Black Mirror.

It may be occasionally janky, and despite best intentions, it isn’t always as easy to understand as it could be, yet Ashes Cricket’s bright spots shine through the flecks of grime. This is not a perfect game of cricket, but it is a good one.

A glossy though ultimately shallow use of the Planet of the Apes license, Last Frontier stands as an acceptable use of Play Link technology but little else.

An overabundance of subplots aside, this solid episode reinforces the fact that Batman: The Enemy Within is on a trajectory to be one of Telltale’s better series.

A highly entertaining Star Wars shooter with polish for days finds itself blemished by boorish progression systems and uneven game modes. That said, in its current form, I greatly enjoyed Star Wars Battlefront II and chances are, if you have a hankering for a mostly well-executed and enjoyable Star Wars FPS, you will too.

The PS4 version of Rockstar’s noir detective thriller is the definitive way to play L.A. Noire and stands as an appealing prospect for old and new wannabe sleuths alike.

When Outcast Second Contact was announced I was jumping with glee, one of my favourite games of the 90’s finally being remade for the modern age. If only the team had spent more time fixing the performance issues before release.

There’s a lot of well-produced content packed inside Call of Duty WWII’s bunker, but very little of it is exciting, engaging, or original. The World War II setting papers the cracks, but constant mixed messaging about that historical conflict reveals the game for a gimmick.

Apart from a small UI overhaul, a fragmented hub, and a batch of new and redesigned characters, this is more Lego, more Marvel, and more collecting. For better or worse.

The good news is that Sonic Forces is not the disaster it could easily have been. There’s a fairly enjoyable, silly romp here, that’s got some nicely handled fan service. The bad news is that it still makes so many of the same mistakes synonymous with the series’ 3D past.

An adorably charming action RPG, Cat Quest might not hold a great deal of challenge for veterans, but youngsters, genre newbies and especially cat owners will find much to love in its epic tale of furious furries.

There’s a perfectly fine racing game somewhere in this mess of half-baked ideas. A fun arcade racer has been drowned in enough ‘one more thing’ additions to fill the entire run of Columbo, and the result is a rather unpleasant muddle of bland story, stop-start driving, and player control being ripped away just as things get juicy.

Beautiful to look at and packed full of compelling content, Assassin’s Creed Origins ranks as one of the best entries in the series to date.

Pretty much the same, boringly dependable Just Dance experience at heart, but the addition of a kid friendly mode makes this far more worthy a purchase for front room dance fans than the last few iterations.

The Frozen Wilds extends the already fantastic Horizon experience into a region worth exploring, but uneven difficulty and only a few surprises await.

There’s no denying that Spintires is a different take on the transportation simulator game, but different isn’t enough if the game in question doesn’t keep consistency in its simming. A decent title to potter about in, especially with others, but whenever additional rules are implemented, Spintires is apt to suffer.

Wuppo, despite a couple of small issues, is a heartening adventure in a winsome, self-contained world that’s full of quirk-riddled characters and adorably monstrous bosses.

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is a great attempt to modernize an older franchise. All the improvements made by CyberConnect 2 were not only needed but welcomed. Sure it still suffers from designs of its time but that shouldn’t deter you from a good overall experience.

In spite of a lack of different enemies and occasionally unreliable motion controls, Raw Data nonetheless stands as one of the more intuitive and satisfying shooters available on PSVR.

Hidden Agenda is a great concept with some impressive set pieces and performances, but its narrative lets it down and it lacks any major impact.

Whether it's delivering chaos or absurdity, grim drama or theatrical villainy, Wolfenstein II handles it all superbly.

New systems and combat evolution make South Park: The Fractured but Whole an improvement from its already great predecessor.

One of the best episodes of the entire Life is Strange franchise to date, Brave New World is a captivating episode full of heartwarming moments and top-notch writing.

A fascinating experiment that appropriates PSVR technology to create immersive theatre, The Invisible Hours is quite unlike anything else on Sony’s Virtual Reality platform.

When AER: Memories of Old is focused on soaring through the skies, or tackling a multi-room temple puzzle, it’s at its best. The rest of the time it fails to register much interest in its lackluster story and world.

A thunderous Metroidvania effort that sublimely marries the timeless design of yesteryear with some of the best decisions of modern game design, The Mummy Demastered is not only a great title but also one of the genuinely best surprises of the year.
