I really wanted to like The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. I genuinely wanted to enjoy a unique take on a game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Sadly, Gollum misses the mark. While the story is actually interesting, the gameplay, bugs and mechanics make it a painful slog.

A nice landscape can't hide unsatisfying combat, weak survival mechanics and an odd, unfinished feel. Kingdom of Fallen is definitely not ready for prime time.

Moto Roader MC is an old-school racing game that hasn't aged well. With limited game modes and repetitive action, this shouldn't have been remade.

Offroad Truck Simulator: Heavy Duty Challenge should have been a great racing experience. It has so much potential that it left me annoyed. The hulking machines and high-energy racing should have been thrilling. Unfortunately issues and bugs hold it back!

Drywall Eating Simulator is a bite-sized comedic adventure. Developed and published by Peripheral Playbox, the game consists of four scenarios and plenty of contemporary satire. Players must manage their stress levels in order to complete tasks and find the exit. Interacting with NPCs and hearing the annoying things they say will increase stress, which reveals new walls to break down. To calm down, players can break these walls down and eat the pieces of drywall. Gameplay is simple and straightforward, but is a bit lackluster overall. This might be a game best played by content creators as a fun indie side game rather than having a large player base on its own. I remain hopeful for more content to be added in the future, but I suppose we will have to wait and see!

Lumberjack Simulator is a real-to-life simulation title. With vast potential and a massive world to explore, it sets out its stall pretty early on. Sadly, though, many glitches, bugs, and problems thwart its progress. Accordingly, there are limited redeeming qualities to admire.

The game itself is fun if players can overlook the bugs and issues. I believe the game is still patchable if the developer team still polishing the game. Thus, the game is still a recommended piece for souls-like lovers to give a try.

United Penguin Kingdom is a strategy city-building game where players are tasked with developing a kingdom and becoming its king in order to protect, feed, and ensure the well-being of the citizen penguins.

Overall, I wanted to like this game. I could see the potential and the vision for what the developers were going for. There are plenty of great ideas in this game. However, poor execution of those ideas and confusing design elements hold this game back for me. I hope the developers can learn from this criticism to improve their craft in their future titles.

The meditative repair work is there, and the busted garage gives you a goal to strive for, but it’s dragged down by everything else. From the ugly human models to the awful controller support. The fact that the racing is so awkward and unsatisfying means that that engine repairing is all you’ve got. If you can lose yourself in that, then you’ll find some fun. In the end though, you’ll be asked to drive the car to the drop-off location and it’ll all go downhill.

The biggest mistake SOOT makes seems to be level design. While it had a nice concept and solid core mechanics, they failed to execute their ideas properly through their levels. But once again I should say that I only played the first chapter, therefore if the game and levels changed significantly during chapter 2 and 3, I wouldn’t know.

It is important to remember that Best Month Ever is a student project. Therefore it shouldn’t be put in the same bag as a product of an experienced studio. Either way, I feel many of the game’s faults came from inadequate writing. It wants to say a lot but by the end it doesn’t much at all. If all the logical and realistic inconsistencies can be ignored. The game’s overall story isn’t that bad. Even thought they have failed to explore most of the themes, there are still some heartwarming moments.

Probe: A Game Dev Experience! is an interesting educational concept giving an insight into game development. The biggest issues with Probe: A Game Dev Experience! is that it’s a very light look at games development whilst the non PSVR controls are borderline unplayable. You will learn how lighting and digital art are added to games but there is nothing further to keep you playing long enough to get the kind of experience that makes you want to go back and learn more about game development unfortunately.

Monday Syndrome is fun. It’s chaotic. It’s cathartic. The foundation is there. The price tag doesn’t ask much but once again that’s not the issue. Once the developers bring this title up to what has been promised I’d be happy to change my score but for now, I say give it a miss.

Project Motor Racing is not a good game. The frustrating vehicle gameplay, the violent A.I that comes to make your life a living hell and the fact the game punishes you for its own mistakes, really bring this game down. It isn’t fun to play and the online mode is evident that a lot of people don’t care about this game. Despite having nice looking cars, tracks based off of iconic locations and a career mode that does offer lots of freedom, it doesn’t make up for the poor gameplay. This is one race simulator you need to steer clear of.

The gameplay is nothing more than an exercise in frustration. With tedious puzzles and a clunky chase mechanic that only serves to waste your time. The whole experience feels like it was slapped together in a weekend with no care or effort. If you’re looking for something enjoyable, Softie isn’t it.

For everything that I’ve said about Spy Drops, some and hopefully all the negatives I’ve had with the game will be fixed. At the time of me making this review, the developers, Rainy Night Creations, announced that they will be replacing the AI voices with actual voice acting. Rainy Night Creations is a small dev team, but hopefully they can deliver on that promise and work on the other issues with the game as well.

Though it has strong building blocks and sounds like a good initial idea, the game is a bit lackluster in execution. The story is a bit cliché with predictable plots and cringe moments. The puzzles are a bit too simple with not many actual puzzles between numerous cutscenes. Visuals are decent, but are a bit rough around the edges. I'm willing to give it some points due to the game's ideas, but doing poorly in these areas massively impacts the score.

If you’re a die-hard snooker fan, you might get a kick out of it for a bit. However don’t expect anything mind-blowing. Here’s hoping the developers wake up and inject some real creativity into this dud in the future.

Once upon a time, Endless Ocean served as a novelty for an at-home diving experience. Now, despite its polished graphics, it is anything but a shell of itself. The fish are so nicely detailed, the soundtrack is chill, and the playthrough may be fun for half an hour. Endless Ocean Luminous is going to have a hard time being someone’s first choice for an underwater simulation experience. To be frank, I think I would just rather go to an aquarium.

An interesting premise let down by wonky execution and by-the-book scares. Treads the same path that stronger games have already carved out.

Sadly, Line war does not offer players much to talk about unless they are already interested in the genre. For those like myself, the lack of a single player mode with A.I controlled units is a major miss. Pair this with a lack of a tutorial outside of videos and you have a combination that may mix well with some while it misses the mark for others. Studio Centurion has stated that there will be more modes to be released throughout the course of the year so for those who are interested in trying something new, there is a lot to look forward to.

Bubsy In: The Purrfect Collection should have stayed a retro platform only experience. This collection doesn't work particularly well and I was disappointed by 90% of the action. This was a shame as I hate to be so negative. However, this is one collection to avoid.

In the end, this hour-long Point and click game fell short of my expectations.

This is definitely a game that has a lot of potential and I would love to see more from these developers but I really hope they do better with the next entry in the series. The switch port of the game ran fine with no performance issues in both handheld and docked mode. While the visuals were a little blurry in the handheld mode, playing docked made things look a little sharper but did not solve the issue of the game being too dark. While this could have been solved by turning the brightness on my monitor up, things ended up being washed out and muddy. The scares found here rely on loud sounds and sudden pop ins which is bound to get some players but may leave others wanting for something more.

Crypt of the Serpent King is a dungeon crawler that fails to fulfil its potential. Sadly, the action is too easy, the mechanics understated, and it lacks finesse. It should have been fantastic but it lacks a spark and any difficulty.

I had such high hopes for this game going into it since the story concept is decent enough to warrant a playthrough but the characters seem flat and by the time you see any development or reason to be interested in, there is a chance you will be in the same boat as myself. It misses its first step and spends the rest of the time trying to bring you along for a journey that may have lost you right away.

Overall, Fillit has a simple look and even simpler gameplay that will suck players in for what feels like an unknown amount of time while they try to finish a level. Every time I revisited the game to get screen shots or find out more from the game, time flew by while my little puck danced and dodged around enemy attacks. The vibrant colors and fluid controls really helps bring everything together and this is one of those games that would be great as apart of a bundle or to catch on sale. 11sheep really managed to create a game that will grab the players attention and not let go until they find themselves say “oh but just one more level and I’ll be done”. In a world where games are always trying to chase a new fad and latch on to them for dear life, it is refreshing to play something on the simpler side of things.
