    As it stands, you really only need to play each character once to check out their special moves, say “cool”, and move on. Great license, great production values, and a mediocre fighter, that pretty much sums it up.

    In terms of gameplay and visuals, there’s not anything here you haven’t seen countless times before. Like all the other KEMCO JRPGs, Asdivine Hearts II borrows heavily from 25-30 years ago, and doesn’t do anything beyond that. It doesn’t do that badly, to be sure, but unless you’re a diehard fan of the series, I think you’d be hard-pressed to look at this game and see anything distinctive.

    The writing isn't half-bad, and Cassie makes for an appropriately spunky heroine. However, the crucial ingredient would be for the game to be on VR, where it could come closer to its ideal of sensory deprivation to offer a genuinely frightening — rather than frustrating — experience. However, Deep End Games have already nixed that idea, which means that what you're left with is a whole bunch of frustratingly squandered promise.

    I would suggest checking out Dissidia Final Fantasy NT if you’ve played the other Dissidia titles, but I’d temper your expectations when it comes to content. You’ll blow through the story mode quickly enough, and then you’ll just be left with a pretty sub-standard online experience that is definitely in need of some work. The stripped out RPG elements from the previous Dissidia titles really do this entry a disservice, and I think hewing too closely to NT’s arcade roots was a bad call. Still, I can’t help but feel there’s something worth playing here, even if it’s not the best Dissidia game to date.

    There's definitely something to be said about a game that will allow you to hijack a helicopter in midair, eject from said helicopter, drop kick another one, and then snatch the rockets from a third to lay waste to a number of tanks and mutants below you. It's just a shame about all the other stuff you have to do in between.

    For the price, and I stress that, Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer is an fun little side scrolling shoot-em-up. It's not quite in the same league as Konami, Treasure or Cave shooters or the like, though it has it's place. 2D side scrolling shooters are sort of a lost art these days, so it is nice to have a new game in the genre, and a flashy high definition one at that.

    All in all, Uno for the Nintendo Switch isn’t all that exciting. It loads a little slowly. Visually it’s solid but not spectacular. But it’s also Uno, which doesn’t really need any of that to make things work. It’s a solid representation of the classic card game with enough new to make things interesting.

    Admittedly, the good-natured dialogue isn’t enough to lift Revenant Dogma out of the realm of your standard RPG — not when such hefty portions of it are devoted to telling instead of showing. But that’s Kemco for you: RPGs that do little things here and there very well, but that, on the whole, don’t do anything spectacular.

    The story here is exactly what you would expect from one of the creators of The Banner Saga. It is clear enough and interesting enough to keep you reading and coming back for more. The art follows suit and is a beautifully drawn world with characters that manage to convey a lot of emotion on the screen. Cutscenes are few and far between, but are always enjoyable. This is not a great game by any stretch, but you can clearly see the framework for one and with a little less grinding and some more mechanics at play I could see this being a truly special sim. As it stands, it is just a good, fun 9-15 hours depending on how you play.

    Even with all these flaws, it’s hard not to root for Night Gate, even if just a little. Maybe it’s because it’s overflowing with ambition, maybe because it’s hard not to compare it to that other, much more prominent vampire game that flopped just as spectacularly – whatever the reason is, as flawed as Night Gate is, there’s enough here that’s interesting that if you can accept all kinds of imperfections (and to be clear, there are a lot of imperfections here), it’s kind of fun in its own way.

    I'm not sure, however, that some pretty graphics and an okay story are enough to make Demon Gaze worth picking up. I suppose if you're a fan of dungeon crawlers that feel like Doom coupled with slow-moving turn-based action, then there might be something here worth your time, but otherwise? You're probably better off just getting Conception II.

    If you enjoyed Patapon back for the PSP, it’s a safe bet to say you'll still enjoy it in this glorious HD remaster. The remaster is completely barebones and features no new special features, which is kind of disappointing. I also wonder why they didn’t just remaster all three Patapon titles and release a pack, similarly to what they did with the Crash N-Sane Trilogy. The Patapon titles got better with each new sequel and going back to the original can seem like a bit of a step back, but I still recommend Patapon overall. Patapon is a great looking, affordable digital remaster for rhythm fans, and of course it plays and holds up much better than PaRappa the Rapper.

    If you want a quick, fun little racer that everyone can pick up and play, then this is for you. On the other hand, if you want a game that will hold your attention for a long period of time then you may want to check out other, more traditional, racing titles.     For $19.99 it’s a pretty good value and I think those that enjoyed Brain Age will surely like Academy. If I had to give a nod to one or the other I’d still go with Brain Age since it was the original brain game and it has built-in incentives for daily play.

    Overall I feel this really isn’t the ideal way to experience this title. That doesn’t mean that Doom 3: VR Edition is a bad game by any means, it just doesn’t mesh well with VR. With that being said, I can still recommend this for your PSVR library. It’s not horrible, but not exactly the best experience you can have.

    So there is some casual fun to be had in the video pinball side of things but it would be much more fun if the game gave you better control over the ball. You can tilt the table to move the ball up or down but this is hit or miss and it seems like the game wants you to make use of this function more than you expect. But if you’re interested in a solid pinball game then you might want to look elsewhere and if you’re here for the Senran Kagura side of things then the overall game will have more on offer with cutscenes featuring interactions between the girls as they bring each other back to human form and other activities.

    Journey to the Savage Planet is a frustrating game. Not because it’s that hard (it’s not, at least not intentionally), and not because it’s broken (at least not too much). No, it’s frustrating because it’s so close to being a good game, and you can see the tweaks that would have made it a good game…but absent those tweaks, it all just feels like a giant missed opportunity.

    The killer with this game is the price tag. Despite having crisp HD visuals, the game is, somewhat understandably, so similar to other iterations that owning more than one copy is completely unnecessary... unless you're addicted. In all honesty, the same can be said about most puzzle games, but where Bejeweled 2 differs from its competitors is that it really hasn't changed at all.

If you’re a fan of the genre anyway, that may not matter, and you may appreciate a bit of humour added on to the usual, but if you’re hoping that Breathedge might be a breath of fresh air, look elsewhere.

    So on the content side of things, the game isn't really lacking, it's just failing in innovation or uniqueness when compared to the rest of the series. Again, it's great to have this game in a portable format that finally works, but unless you've been away from the series for quite some time, or find yourself a ridiculously hardcore fan of the Katamari games, I hesitate to call this a must buy. I've still had some fun with it, but I found it to be one of the weakest launch Vita titles I've encountered so far.

    Tap Skaters never feels like much more than a mobile game that you’re paying a premium to play on the Switch. To be sure, there’s nothing inherently wrong with mobile games — and there’s not even anything wrong with mobile games moving over to the Switch — but when they’re as basic as this, it makes it hard to see why you should bother, when it’s just as easy to play the original at a fraction of the price.

    Unless you just like going question-answer-question-answer (and so on, in blocks of ten questions at a time), there’s really nothing in Knowledge Trainer: Trivia to make it stand out. It’s got a clean, crisp interface, but that just adds to the feeling of blandness more than anything else. There aren’t a tonne of trivia games on the Switch, so I suppose it has that going for it, but it still feels like there are plenty of better options out there on variety of other platforms that are more interesting and more fun.
