Journey to the Savage Planet is an excellent and often funny firstperson exploration game. You could call it a Metroidvania game but that’s just lazy. Go out and buy this.

A really colorful, tongue-in-cheek adventure that offers many secrets to discover. Sadly, the balance in the challenges needs some tweaking.

A rollicking space adventure, Journey to the Savage Planet has the smarts to make you laugh out loud while taking shots at consumerism and big business.

Journey to the Savage Planet ticks all the right boxes. It gets its core play loops right, and it respects the player's time - you'll clock it at 15 or so hours if you're not too concerned with collecting everything along the way. I had a good time in both single player and co-op, and for something that is so foreign to the kind of games I usually play, that this one hooked me in speaks to its X-factor. For all the good, however, the game's a complete misfire as a narrative experience.

Journey to the Savage Planet is an unpredictable adventure that knows how to amaze, entertain and make fun of capitalism.

Even when the visuals remind us of so many other games, Journey To The Savage Planet has very unique ideas and its exploration mechanics are particularly remarkable. The experience is short-lived, with some major bugs, but still good, especially if you play it in co-op.

The game’s themes feel like facile wallpaper over mechanics that feed into the ideas being critiqued.

Most enjoyable experience I've had this year so far. The controls are smooth, the game is gorgeous, the cutscenes and in-game commercials are hilarious. They made collecting items very enjoyable. I ended up finding 100% of everything in the main game and in the "Trash" DLC.... and I was still wanting more! If you are a fan of games like Metroid Prime or Banjo Kazooie, this is the game for you. Crossing my fingers for more DLC and sequels. A Must Play. Expand

One of those few games where nothing feels obsolete. Fun, funny, easy to pick up, a blast to play. Highly recommend it!

It is colorful, story presents itself interesting, computer is quite witty and talkative. But after 2 h I got tired of hitting the wall all the time. Everywhere where I went I lacked equipment. So I know that I need to go back there again and again. Graphic style becomes too overwhelming and it is not visible which parts of environment are for exploration and which are just "nice-looking". So few times I have ended outside of the map. And here we come to the worst part of that game. There is NO map. You never know where you were, where you need to come back to collect something, where you should go next. When you die, you resurrect at your ship and loose all resources (waiting to be picked up where you died). It is annoying and not welcomed. Game concept wears off quite fast. You may enjoy it longer if you like lots of platform elements and farming resources. Fight is poor, you can only shoot from pistol and sometimes hit enemy with your bare hand. Getting better equipment requires do-not-know-what plus doing idiotic stuff like killing five enemies after kicking them into air. I was very positive towards the game, but after playing for few hours and getting to half of it (more or less) I do not find it entertaining anymore. Expand

Or maybe they were talking about another game, I don't know. This game is basically a templated mess that took all the ideas from other games: I'm sure that the boss with a tail that attacks you while spinning was taken from Dauntless, the scanning mechanic was taken from a Minecraft mod that I have forgot the name of, etc etc. But let's just leave this, I don't really blame them, I can be wrong about the sources of inspiration after all. The game is not fun in the slightest.. All these 'cute' creatures, quests, scanning, listening to unending speeches of that nasty girl voice narrating the game, stupid satire that never made me smile. It's a boring experience that you ask to end faster, not to continue. I've finished the game and I cannot tell that I liked something at all. This is not a unique experience, the game for sure doesn't cost its price. Expand
