Alien Shooter still probably isn't worth picking up, but if the past is any guide, it may not be too long until it's followed by a game that is.

A basic but enjoyable top down shooter with fast paced game play that was a little ahead of its time. It’s a shame that this version on the Vita has not worked well at all. It looks and feels old, its tedious and repetitive.

My second thought was about playing lots of great twin stick shooters. Well at least we got lots of great twin stick shooters on the Vita. Alien Shooter is not among the list of even acceptable Vita twin stick shooters.

I know beauty is subjective but I think we can agree all together on this and say this game is ugly. Screenshots do not properly convey on how poorly it runs.

There is lives system but the continues starts with the amount of lives you had before starting the level. Finishing a level with only one life ensures you are not going far during the next level. Not that you really need to see the next level because it is just another boring map with lots of tedious aliens to shoot.

The AI is terrible to watch as enemies always go straight towards you even if there is a wall between you. Watching attacking aliens continuously run in place at walls was one of the few fun points during this game.

The basic shooting is terrible. By default there is “auto aim” which always shoots to the nearest enemy in the general direction even if that enemy is behind a wall. If you turn off the “auto aim”, it is always imprecise but I found it semi less frustrating.

There are a couple of extra modes but the developers had the gall to show it in the menu but have you pay extra to unlock.

Ultraton, Resogun, Dead Nation, Age of Zombies, and Super Stardust are infinitely better games than Alien Shooter on Vita. If you have all those games already, your money is better saved for the Vita port of Geometry Wars 3. Do not buy this game.
