    UNO’s empty lobbies might be a disappointment, but local play, house rules, and the Ubisoft game themed cards breathe new life into the family game night staple.

    Even if you don’t have fond memories of UNO – or any memories of it at all – as a digital adaptation on the Switch it’s quite satisfying to play. Although there’s no workaround to take on another player on the same system and the online experience can be a bumpy ride – along with slight technical performance issues – UNO on the Switch still manages to emulate what makes the original card game so addictive. This version allows you to play the game on the go or have fun in front of your television with another person for hours on end. When no one you know is available for co-op, you can always attempt to find a match online or hone your skill against the A.I. If you’re seeking a digital card game based on a classic that is pick-up and play, and stays true to the source material despite the technical shortcomings, UNO is the one for you. Just be careful as you may lose track of time with this particular card game.

    What lets Uno down is the online infrastructure. There aren’t many players, for a start, and it hurts the appeal of playing online when it ends up being against one human player and two AI. You may as well just play the single player, especially considering how frequently drop outs happen. Conveniently this happens most frequently when the other human player is close to losing. There doesn’t seem to be a punishment in place for that. At least AI players have honour.

    UNO on the Nintendo Switch is a fun game, but it lacks multiple modes which can make it quite boring after a while. Fortunately the online aspect of UNO is quite good and will make you play the games for multiple hours.

    UNO for the Nintendo Switch is a mixed deck. On one hand, it offers online play and a new cooperative mode which are more than enough to add a modern spin to the classic card game. On the other hand, there's no way to play a regular match of UNO with just one Switch and buying a deck at any corner store would be more affordable. This isn't to say the Switch interaction and the physical card game are totally equal, however. UNO's presentation is top notch and it is fairly priced when compared to other Switch games. On top of adding in a host of rules and decks, fans of the card game will be sure to find plenty to appreciate in 2v2, the online, and the slick UI.

    All in all, Uno for the Nintendo Switch isn’t all that exciting. It loads a little slowly. Visually it’s solid but not spectacular. But it’s also Uno, which doesn’t really need any of that to make things work. It’s a solid representation of the classic card game with enough new to make things interesting.

    I like the small gimicks in the 3 different game types: Rabbids, Rayman, Just Dance 2017.......
    Beautiful graphics and sounds.....the voices is good in this version, the crazy lady yelling through the gameplay is gone lol.    … Expand

    I mean.....it's UNO. what do you expect? i do like the rayman and just dance versions of cards though.

    Never thought id be playing uno on the switch, but its actually really fun. What made me buy it was the theme decks. rabbis, rayman, just dance, and a winter deck. It would be really cool to see if they add more decks for the future. the theme decks (excluding the winter) have cards that have special effects which spice up the game a little. Id say if you have some extra eshop credit and want a fun low cost game, this is the one to get. only downside is that you need more than one switch to play against other people locally, but there is online.… Expand

    It's UNO but worse. Literally just play normal UNO. Normal UNO doesn't have DLC and connection errors.

Unfortunately it never works properly - you can't realistically play with your friends offline, and connecting online is impossible even with a very stable high speed connection - even if you do make it online the chances are that at least one of the four of you will randomly disconnect mid-game for no reason. Even on sale, this was a disappointing waste of money and I regret purchasing it. Avoid like the plague.… Expand
