Shines with its story, atmosphere, and thorough research, but far too often feels empty and unfinished.

Just Cause 4 is a big, dumb and lovely action game that offers hours of great entertainment for those willing to look past its blemishes and technical faults.

Cloudberry Kingdom's infinite levels frustrate as much as they delight. The game's difficulty often comes off as unforgiving and downright unfair at times, making the experience less enjoyable overall.

The overall impression is of a thoroughly mediocre arena-shooter that never quite manages to deliver. On a crowded online market Nexuiz is reduced to a short term affair without much longevity. As this is a game that relies solely on an active multiplayer community, it's hard to tell how long Illfonic can manage to keep this going. Unfortunately, Nexuiz is not the game to revive the arena-shooter.

Hotline Miami is a short and bittersweet mix of fast-paced violence and monotonous repetition, where stupendous AI and crazy amounts of randomness interrupt the experience on a regular basis. It’s stylish and mindless fun, but quite annoying nonetheless.

An ambitious and enjoyable genre-bender marred by major AI-trouble for the units under your command, as well as some poor FPS sections. Still worth a look if you're after something different.

Yesterday is a solid point-and-click adventure that harkens back to the games of old. The narrative is painfully short, but the interesting tone, clever puzzles and fantastic atmosphere does make up for it somewhat.

While Armello is undoubtedly a well-made digital board game, the clever mechanics and strategies usually go out the window as each game descends into a disappointing race for cheap victories. Without the social aspect that can make almost any board game fun, Armello struggles to produce truly memorable moments.

The unique gameplay where unlit platforms disappear makes this game original and entertaining for a while. Closure serves good logic based puzzles, but can become somewhat repetitive after a short while.

Despite its incredible art design and fluid combat, Godfall is simply too shallow to make a lasting impression.

There are too many good competitors out there for the game to stand out. The one thing Chocobo GP has over its competitors is Final Fantasy, and that's something the developers have completely failed to make full use of.

Dirt 5 is an at times gorgeous and fun racer, but the uninspired campaign and a lackluster multiplayer mode leaves much to be desired.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is a good rail shooter, with interesting environments and plenty of scares. Just like its predecessor however, the horror relies too heavy on jump scares, making the experience feel predictable and somewhat cheap over all.

Sure, the game looks fantastic, and it's general platforming sections handle great with the trio of protagonists, but the game's remaining two thirds are majorly flawed. The combat is bland, and the riddles are disastrously bad.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens delivers mostly the same fun experience as before, but when only the fundamentals are the things that impress 10 whole years after the series' first release, the right kind of innovation is severely lacking with this one.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is enjoyable enough, without ever reaching for the upper echelons of the RPG genre. I do wish the developers had given us a little bit more of a challenge in terms of gameplay and a storyline that's a little more grounded.

Despite its fantastical setting in an alternate Nazi-controlled universe, the new Wolfenstein is disappointingly standard shooting fare. A decent action game, but a missed opportunity to do something crazy.

Dying Light: The Beast is fine, and that's about it. The parkour is fine. The combat is fine. The exploration is fine. The level design is … actually some of the best in the series. Maybe it would've been better off as just a DLC though.

Even though it's an enjoyable game, it suffers from a weak challenge. It gets much too easy, much too fast. Finding new weapons is always fun, but some of the point disappears when you don't really need them.

The Skywalker Saga is at its best when it delves into its more linear and tightly designed sections, as the open areas are devoid of life and exciting missions to spend your time on.

Delve Deeper is a funny and interesting strategy game. You send gangs of dwarves deep into the mountain to gather riches for their king, and whoever finds the most is the winner. The game has many smart strategic elements, but lacks depth and content to be anything but an amusing interlude between greater strategy games.

While the game's audiovisual presentation is not to be missed, Hohokum as a game experience leaves something to be desired. The lack of a purposeful goal is both relaxing and frustrating, as it's difficult to discern any true meaning other than simply existing and floating around. If you like point and click adventure games with a strong narrative, Red Johnson's Chronicles is definitely a game you should check out. If you are fond of detective novels you will find several well known elements the game manages to make its own. The caveat being that the puzzles desperately need more variety and you will often get stuck on your way to the next clue.

Despite having a compelling and entertaining multiplayer aspect, Dungeon Siege III falls a bit flat with its traditional, old and uninspired gameplay. A rather boring storyline and bad voice acting makes this game just another one in the bunch of failed challengers to the Diablo throne.

Shadow Puppeteer has the potential to be a really good game, if the developers at Sarepta Studio can get rid of the teething problems that are disruptive of the experience at the moment. The game features clever puzzles and difficult boss battles, and is worth a try when more of the bugs are removed.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is more of the same in a game well into its 20s. Bright spots such as the Prey mechanic and housing just aren't enough to carry an experience that's saturated with endless perks for logging in daily and churning out world quests and Delves as the numbers go up, up, up.

The weapons feel great, it's fun to navigate the levels, and some of the boss fights are pretty fun. Shadows of the Damned has a comfortable base level, it just lacks the peaks to make it great.

The end of the world has been portrayed in many ways, but no one has done in a way so grey and bland as I Am Alive. The concept itself is quite good, and at times it's really enjoyable to traverse the dusty town of Haventon, playing a psychological game with it's pesky inhabitants. Most times though, it simply is a clumsy and mediocre experience.

MXGP offers realistic challenges in the mud, but the lack of entertaining modes shortens the game's lifespan.

This is the best Mario Kart experience one can get without owning a Wii, with party graphics and clever courses. Entertaining for console gamers of all ages.

There are improvements over The Stick of Truth, but the positive changes are diminished by the monotone game mechanics.

The solid mechanics of the Civilization series are not enough to lift this game up to its potential. It fails to differentiate itself from Civ V and is lacking in inspiration and soul. A missed opportunity to create something great.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a decent action adventure game, but does very little to create a unique experience with the added flavour of the Star Wars universe.

Ryse: Son of Rome is a game with great potential and even greater production value, but the experience is muddled with repetitive combat, recycled enemies and a general feeling of being rushed towards the Xbox One's launch.

Puzzle Agent 2 does nothing to differentiate itself from what it's predecessor did a year ago. It offers the same structure, the same length and the same types of puzzles. Unfortunately, it ends up seeming more like the second half of a complete work than a whole new adventure.

This years edition of PCM contains the bare minimum of innovation. Still entertaining for fans of the series, but hardly enough improvements to warrant a warm reccomendation.

Assassin's Creed: Origins packs many new tricks, yet feels dated. Its combat is clunky, its story generic, and despite a gorgeous world, Origins fails to live up to the standards set by the games it wants to resemble.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is a decent adventure game with some interesting elements like the "deduction board". It depicts old London in a good way, but sadly it feels a bit rushed and doesn't have any lasting appeal.

There are traces of a good game in Julius Styles: The International, but they vanish in a sea of failed attempts. The developers clearly set their sights beyond the mediocre, integrating puzzles, combat and a complex dialog system lifted from big-budget titles like Alpha Protocol. Unfortunately, the developers possess neither the budget nor the know-how to implement these ideas properly, and they end up turning what would otherwise be a merely mediocre title, into a truly terrible one.

Flying, fighting and exploring while in one of the four javelins feels great in Anthem. The combat is varied and fun, the world is gorgeous and ripe for discovery, but too much hassle with various menus, loading screens and poor design keeps me away from the fun. The story and characters are good, the second half of the story it even better, but the characters and nuances that Bioware does so well is hidden in texts and journals, and not given enough screen time to really shine. Fort Tarsis slows down the pace too much, and repetitive quest-design doesn't help. Endgame-content is lacking, with parts of it broken, other parts not working, or just not enough variety as the game stands right now. But I still love the feel of playing Anthem, which makes it a good foundation to be built upon.

The second episode of the Cognition series is a big improvement of the first episode, with a more purposeful direction and less backtracking between locations. Erica's psychic powers also take on a more central part of overall gameplay, but could be given an even greater focus. Writing is also improved, with the developers clearly having a good grasp of what makes a psychological thriller such as this work well. Sadly, there's just too little of it to earn it a higher grade.

With Fire and Sword is an expansion that adds very little to the Mount&Blade experience. It's still a solid game, but one would expect more innovation. Still, the hectic battles on horseback leave the player with a brutal appreciation for medieval combat.

Kairosoft games are some of the most charming titles you'll ever experience on mobile platforms, but the touch interface struggles to hold up when the games' complexity increases. With Pocket Academy, the interface gets in the way for a game whose intricacies are as fascinating as its quirky farm-school hybrids.

It's apparent that Ubisoft has been listening to the criticism that's been levied at them over the years about the Assassin's Creed series. This is the closest we've gotten to the one-two punch that was Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood, with a much leaner story and mission structure than before. However, the game lacks a certain uniqueness beyond being just another Assassin's Creed game, which is a shame considering this could have been so much more.

Gran Turismo Sport offers a great driving experience, but its severe lack of content makes it seem more like a Prologue-title than a fully-fledged GT game.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 isn't really all that new anymore. What you get is basically the same game as the first one for the Nintendo DS, but with less engaging levels, fewer surprises in terms of power-ups and gameplay, and a boring gimmick set on capturing your inner kleptomaniac.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is probably the weakest in the series, yet it’s not a bad game. It gives you just about what you’d expect, but not so much more than that. The dynamic sailing experience is one of the highlights, and the naval battles with the subsequent boarding of enemy ships will stick to your mind.

Piranha Bytes takes the Risen series into a new direction with the Pirate-themed sequel Dark Waters. The game is more streamlined than its predecessors, but despite some efforts to modernize the combat and the character development system feels hopelessly outdated. In such it fails to fulfil its own potential.

Outbound is slow, cosy and a good reset from the action-packed games I normally play. No big challenges to overcome, but a satisfying gameplay loop, nice visuals and music makes it a good, albeit repetitive experience.

Team Sonic Racing is a solid kart racer that suffers from a boring roster of characters, and an unbalanced difficulty that doesn't seem fit for anyone.

Dead Island 2 is a lot of occasional fun when played together with a friend, but the game suffers from a distinct lack of meaningful story development and gameplay which feels quite samey from time to time.

Rainbow Moon has simple gameplay, and a charming and colorful look. Both the look and soundtrack is very retro, and seems to be a tribute to old classics. Is you're a fan of strategic RPGs, you'll find a lot to love here. I, on the other hand, found it more of a chore.

Hydroventure: Spin Cycle is a fresh puzzle game, whose many uses of water never ceases to entertain, despite some bad turns from time to time. The game has a steady progression and clever puzzles which keep your mind constantly occupied, while not being overly complex, thus making for an overall rewarding experience.

Deadlight is an amazingly beautiful game. The combination of a simplistic foreground and incredibly detailed backgrounds is breathtaking. However, the gameplay isn't as elaborate. It relies heavily on trial and error, especially in the second half of the game. This made the game both frustrating and boring.

Sonic Origins is easily the best way to play these games on modern consoles, but the collection still feels somewhat lackluster.

Battleship Gothic: Armada delivers a beautiful depiction of space warfare in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but a lackluster campaign, a weird AI, and too much focus on micromanagement in an already chaotic environment ruins this potentially exciting title.

Daedalic's novel adaptation delivers a great story, beautiful visuals and interesting characters. 12th century England makes for a fascinating setting, but unfortunately far too much time is wasted on backtracking and tedious puzzles.

This game is neither a classic nor a complete failure. What ultimately makes it worth playing is the variety. The different parts don't all work quite as well as they should, but there's always something fresh around the next corner.

The series has stagnated. The gameplay elements have grown stale, and I hope that the developers try to do something new in the next one.

As an HD edition of a 3DS game, Revelations is the best Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4. But clumsy controls, bad voice overs, a brain dead plot and some technical flaws still proves Capcom has a way to go bringing the franchise back to its former glory. Being a hybrid between a horror game and an action game, it’s hard to see what the developers wanted to achieve. But even with all this, it’s still better than Resident Evil 6.

Magicka 2 is very similar to the first Magicka, but the last game worked so well that the lack of innovation isn't all that bothersome. It's still a fun, chaotic experience that can keep you entertained for eight hours. What sours the overall experience is the sometimes awful script and annoying pop cultural references that do more to provoke groans of annoyance rather than laughter.

XDefiant throws out its own advantages in favor of the shooting mechanisms from Call of Duty and the class system from the same series, which results in an unbalanced mess.

New World has many of the fundamentals down, but does little to innovate or bring true charm to the experience, making it feel much too generic and boring after just the first few handfull of hours.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a huge game, but underneath the impressive surface is a game that could benefit from being much smaller. A potentially interesting plot is ruined by uninteresting characters, slow pacing and a bothersome gameplay structure. This should have been the game Wii U owners needed to breathe new life into their console, but it is not the game they deserve.

An engaging battle system in a slim package, Dungeon Encounters still offers some good hours.

It is fun to prowl through the open levels. The Evil Within 2 is also a sweet b-movie story with many sympathetic characters. On the other hand the game compromises more or less all of the predecessor's strongest suits. The visuals are considerably duller, the action is weaker and worst of all: It's a far more predictable and conventional experience. As a sequel it highly disappoints.

Expeditions: Viking is a great and engaging role-playing game with a stunning soundtrack and an exciting story. Sadly, its interesting combat is offset by some weird quirks, and too many crashes and bugs make for an experience which could have been so much better had the game been more polished at launch.

Tomb Raider is trying to tell Lara’s origin story in a mature fashion, and it somewhat succeeds by depicting the island as an organic living being, and making sure Lara is a believable character with great performances by actress Camilla Luddington. The rest of the game is less impressive, with the sheer amount of jarring enemies, stale combat and tacked on multiplayer.

Forza Motorsport 5 is fantastic in its best moments, but the game is lacking in content and feels unfinished overall. This full price game is also riddled with and harshly balanced around micro transactions.

F1 Race Stars is an action-filled karting game featuring all drivers and teams from the 2012 season. The rather crazy fast-paced gameplay start out funny, but gets to repetitive after a short while.

Both long-time fans and new Sly Cooper players are probably going to like this game. It seems like Sanzaru Games didn’t dare to make too significant of differences from the earlier games. Some of the mini games get repetitive and annoying after a while, but if you just work your way through them you’ll enjoy this game.

Even in their thirteenth outing in the Lego world, Traveller's Tales have managed to craft a humerous and charming platformer with enough in-jokes and references to satisfy the most discerning comic book fan. Unfortunately the experience is ruined by a severe lack of challenge, idiotic AI and slipshod platforming.
