In terms of story and characters, Devil May Cry 5 is a double-edged sword. The coolness factor fits in comparison to the reboot and does not seem unnecessarily set up. The story itself, however, has little to offer and does not pull me through the game.

The wonderfully crisp fights are still the greatest strength of the series and play more smoothly than ever in Dead or Alive 6.

Anthem annoys me in particular, because it leaves so much potential left. The Shared World Shooter has an incredibly cool unique selling proposition with the Javelins, but BioWare does not make much of it.

As a big fan of the first part, it's not easy for me to say that, but Crackdown 3 is at least five years late...This is all the sadder, because the mechanics in Crackdown 3 are quite solid and I especially enjoy the search for the movement Orbs. But the bottom line is the sobering result of a developmental odyssey, which will probably be the last nail for the series.

Jump Force still has problems in the current version. The balancing could still use fine tuning, the lobby is awkward, and the constant load times are annoying. Nevertheless, I enjoy the game, especially after I came to understand the combat system. Of course, it's not as complicated and diverse as a classic 2D examiner, but it's still a pleasure to try all your abilities.

I had fun again in Hope County. Even though I bothered with many things again and was forced to hide certain things, fortunately, the over-excited Far Cry-Action remains.

In Minit, retro Zelda charm meets a world as sweet as it is weird, with more incentive to explore minute by minute.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is already one of the best games for me personally in 2019. Because of the childhood memories, the staging, the fun fights and the great mix of epic square fantasy and the winking Disney style. Besides, it just makes me happy to beat the styled, overpowering villains with a cactus.

For a long time we had to wait for a worthy remake of Resident Evil 2 and to get straight to the point, every single day was more than worth it. Capcom delivers the most effective remake of all time, both visually and playfully, aimed at die-hard fans of the series as well as novices in the survival genre. The bloody splatter fireworks combined with great light and shadow effects and a sound design that miraculously supports the horror create a special atmosphere that players rarely experience.

Loveless cobbled-together arcade brawler with only a few scenes showing the genius of Goichi Suda.

Tales of Vesperia grabbed me.

New Super Mario Bros. U on the switch is again one of the best 2D Mario games. For veterans of the original, however, there are too few innovations.

With the Spyro Reignited Trilogy fans get a more than worthy remake and newcomers get one of the best platformers of all time for the PS4.

The perfect turn based strategy game on the go. Civilization 6 feels at home on the switch.

Monster Boy is not officially part of the Wonderboy series, but despite minor balance issues it's the best part of the series so far.

Insane massive battles with excellent B-movie flair, a lot of fun with friends, but lacks just a little variety.

The fact that the actual gameplay still remains so accessible, balanced and still deep, is a special feat. For skeptics, the Smash series has a reputation as a chaotic party game. However, Ultimate underlines once again that complexity and straightforward fun need not be mutually exclusive.

A gripping story.

Although Darksiders 3 is not a masterpiece like its predecessor, Gunfire Games have managed to create an almost fun and sometimes tough action-adventure game with reduced resources and well-sanctioned gameplay.

With Tetris Effect Mizuguchi has set another monument and designed probably the best Tetris experience ever. I have not had so much fun with Tetris since the first Game Boy.

Pokémon: Let's Go is a game for the heart, not for the brain. However, the Pokémon feeling is transported unbeatably well.

Technically well-done retro collection with basic beat'em-up classics that are great in co-op with friends.

Colorful and action-packed space opera with a funny toys-to-life component. Deductions for the outrageous pricing policy.

A mixture of the well-known Yakuza-gameplay and a familiar anime license, it suffers from the mediocre combat system and weak graphics.

Hitman 2 is everything I wanted after the preceeding episode. More creative, more imposing, even if the basic structure remains very similar.

It raises the bar in almost all areas to a new level, which will probably be impossible to beat for all competitors at least in this generation. Red Dead Redemption 2 is another rock star masterpiece and an example of what modern video games are capable of, both narrative and staged, but above all, technically capable. The best game for this console generation so far.

It is also a great pleasure to be able to play the game anytime, anywhere.

Super Mario Party actually does almost everything I had hoped for. More playable characters, finally again a classic board game mode, successful mini-game selection and last but not least two in my opinion successful co-op modes, which at least for some new paint in this but come a bit old game principle.

Thanks to the decision-making system and the better fights, I'm having even more fun with Odyssey than with Origins.

Flipping Death is an absurdly funny adventure, which doesn't offer a big challenge, but its charm compensates for that.

A good and beautiful VR Space Survival shooter with perfectly used Roguelike elements.

The Splatoon 2: Octo expansion convinces with great new ideas and a lot of variety, but still lacks a "real" story.

Limbo is still as atmospheric as it was eight years ago, due to its reduced graphic style. An indie treasure that everyone should play.

Enormously atmospheric mix of skills and puzzles with a great graphic style which captivates to the end on the switch, too.

After nine years, destroying lots of buildings with a hammer and explosives is still a lot of fun.

The whole game is full of lovingly-designed details, the eight classes are a super mix of standard and new ideas and the stories of the characters are so thrilling that I could not wait to get to the next village.

The cute treasure hunter Toad has lost none of its charm in this version for the Switch. For veterans however, there isn't much new stuff to find.

The switch version of the N. Sane Trilogy is the worst graphically, but the compact level design is perfect on the go.

The progress system is getting dull, the rubber band AI keeps the races overly artificially exciting - and these are just two examples of a long list of small to medium-sized quirks. But even if the game is not as perfect as the big role model Forza Horizon, I have the same amount of fun in The Crew 2 as in the open-world racer from Microsoft.

Extensive DLC with great humor, funny new skills and a beautiful world in DK style. A must-have for all fans.

The mass brawler offers long term fun - especially fans of the franchise get their money's worth.

If you want to experience an incredibly atmospheric dystopia from three gripping, strongly influenced angles, then this is the place to be.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is full of charm, attention to detail and variety. The level design is still the best that the genre has had in recent years. Compared to the absolutely ingenious and enormously beautiful Super Mario Odyssey or a Rayman Legends, the monkey band clearly loses out.

Visually impressive, but internally soulless and undemanding space action, only suitable for short sessions between bus stops.

The story has its weaknesses, but it offers a very thrilling, non-linear experience that shines with great actors and far-reaching decisions.

Virtual Rick-ality offers fans the typical humor of the series and a great recognition value, but the gameplay is convincing, too.

The worlds are beautiful, the combat system is fun throughout, and the story remains exciting. It's a successful overhaul. God of War manages the balancing act between modern action RPG and classic feel.

A good game for anime fans, with rapid battles and great innovations, but still missing variety.

Despite its quirks, Sea of ​​Thieves is an experience that you can't get in this form anywhere else.

Off the beaten track, Far Cry 5 is strongly reminiscent of its predecessors. If you have no problem with ticking off small tasks in an Open World shooter, you can blow off steam with sufficient weapons, tools and vehicles. But much more was expected from the now fifth Far Cry installment.

A Way Out reminded me of the terrific TV series Prison Break in its best moments, even though the time pressure is often just an illusion and scenes obviously follow a script. Despite some logic holes, the simple gameplay and the dusty graphics I had a lot of fun.
