    I can’t say The Swords of Ditto is a flawless experience. But I can say that the combat, progression, aesthetic, and couch co-op combine to create something wholly unique and engaging.

    Its issues of repetitive combat and odd looting problems do hold it back from being truly amazing but Sword of Ditto is a solid offering that pulls on the nostalgic heartstrings of my youth with its legend of Zelda inspirations and superb handling of the roguelike mechanics.

    Swords of Ditto is a unique take on a tried and true formula. What it brings is interesting, even if it is a bit flawed. I really had a good time after coming to grips with its systems. I definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the Zelda loop. This game’s colorful world and charming aesthetic makeup for its shortcomings.

    The Swords of Ditto combines some great visuals and decent gameplay with overly long and slightly tedious dungeon exploration. The lack of anything truly rewarding carrying over makes those long sessions difficult to stomach.

However, be aware that this game is considered a "roguelike" meaning it has permadeath mechanics. But it is a charming, delightful Legend of Zelda-esque roguelite that offers dozens of hours of play. The graphics are cute and captivating, the music is video game-y in a way that not much video game music is nowadays, the combat has wake, and the randomly generated map every run adds weight to the 'once every 100 years' storyline.

    It has its issues - a bit buggy here and there, the world generation isn't quite as varied as you would like, but it's overall extremely high quality for an indie game. It's genuinely wondrous to explore, and by the time you're on your second or third run, you'll be deeply invested in the world of Swords of Ditto. I bought this game on sale for 7.50 a few days ago, and I haven't put it down since - and it's been a LONG time since an indie game has been able to say that of me. I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a charming, nostalgic roguelite, especially if it's on sale.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a Zelda clone. Visually perfect in cell shaded style. The world isn't that big, so they make a rule that when you die you have to restart from the start, with a character of your choosing (you find more in the game) and you keep your level. The rule become really annoying after the third time you die. Eventually you can buy an extra life. This mechanic isn't really that fun. I put the game to easy to finish it, but the real ending demands that you kill the bad guy 5 times without dying. The game doesn't cost that much. You will get a good 5-6 hours at easy. I give it a 68%. Did impress me at first, then not so much.… Expand

This game shows how great artists and game makers can do when making a bad concept mechically, the game designer or designers should have played tested this game loop before releasing.

    I was so excited to play this when it first came out, but then fell off it straight away. It turns fun progress into tedious grinding with little feedback, incentive, story law, discovery that makes you feel like you want to continue any time you die.
