For the 2021 season Milestone has worked mainly up to the aim of improving an already quite satisfactory base, postponing the technical revolution for future chapters. It will not be the most explosive episode of the series, but MXGP 2021 remains very appreciable for its soul increasingly tending to simulation.

The game is a nice action/adventure, with an interesting combat system. But when it comes to the beat'em up section, it lacks depth and the fun disappears.

If you loved the first Code Vein, Code Vein 2 is a safe bet. The formula remains true to itself, but is placed in a broader and more refined context, with evident improvements in narrative, combat, and level design, without ever betraying the identity of the original work. However, some known issues remain, most notably a progression system that tends to become unbalanced too quickly, making the experience more forgiving than expected and dampening some of the tension of the battles. Code Vein 2 is therefore a strongly distinctive action RPG that prefers to refine its formula rather than reinvent itself. A solid evolution, stylistically successful and full of possibilities, recommended especially for those looking for an experience with an anime aesthetic and not a revolution of the genre.

We had a lot of fun playing LEGO 2K Drive. It is an interesting experiment, with a lot of potential, but also with some limitations. The light-hearted tone and the not exactly prohibitive level of challenge make it a title suitable for all ages and ideal for playing in company (also given the support for local multiplayer). The vehicle editor is the real extra gear of an imperfect and at times chaotic production, but full of style, which manages to position itself more than dignifiedly in a slice of the market where competition is ruthless.

A purchase is highly recommended to all fans of the brand, but more could be done to refine a title that still does not reach the peaks of the initial regular chapters.

Battle Fantasia is a solid Beat'em Up, an exemplar new IP. Great characters and deep gameplay mechanics, supported by an unusual variety, make Arc System title an hidden gem. Unfortunately, the game reaches PAL market a few years after its original release, and that means that graphic engine isn't excellent. With more game modes (and a budget price), the title could have been a must buy.

Just like its predecessor, High on Life 2 is an imperfect game that, despite its rough edges, manages to entertain and amuse from start to finish. The bounty hunter's escapades in this new guise as a fugitive are even crazier than those seen in the fight against the G3 cartel, the new Gatlians are hilarious, and there's no shortage of plot twists that, on more than one occasion, shake up the narrative. So, as long as you can overlook the sub-par technical aspects and a certain repetitiveness of the gameplay, Squanch Games' offering is highly recommended.

Following the decadent drift of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, the restoration made to BATEN KAITOS I & II HD REMASTER did not completely convince us. The excellent work done on scenarios and polygonal models is in fact counterbalanced by superfluous playful features, unsatisfactory technical performances and only partial localization of the texts. Since these are two authentic pieces of history of the medium, we recommend their recovery to fans of the genre and to those who would like to delve into the past of Monolith Soft.

Gotham Knights is Warner Bros Games' experiment to also bring DC superheroes to open world RPG territory. Given the legacy of the glorious Arkham series, however, the result is a fairly controversial work: a digital playground for those who live off Batman comics and a good diversification system for the four playable heroes do not fully justify a formula in which the quantity dominates quality. The open world that acts as a theater for the adventures of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood is traditional and repetitive, while the role-playing inspiration - however stimulating in terms of progression - becomes too overwhelming for the narrative and playful rhythm of the production. In general, the major divergences from the Arkham epic are in part the main limitation of the work. While having fun, the Gotham Knights still don't seem to be at the level of their mentor.

SaGa is a niche series and Emerald Beyond does nothing to prove the opposite: the combat system deepens those JRPG mechanics that had already emerged in previous chapters and which are consolidated here, thanks to a strategic component that makes the clashes more fascinating . It's a shame that some battles appear unnecessarily verbose at times. Also valuable is the extravagance of some characters, which manages to stand out in a context in which many of the supporting characters end up being poorly characterised. The problems lie in the limited exploration, in a universe that is too bare and also in a very angular progression system. Fans of the brand will be satisfied with the high rate of replayability, but Square Enix will not be able to expand the community of the series. It's not necessarily a problem. The important thing is to be aware of the type of audience Emerald Beyond is aimed at.

Digimon Story Time Stranger may not be the J-RPG that revolutionizes the genre, but it's a solid and fun game. The story is reminiscent of a sci-fi shonen anime that touches on interesting themes, but the production has its ups and downs. The gameplay, from a role-playing perspective, is varied and layered, its main strength being the enormous range of monster collections and evolution. The only drawbacks are the lackluster exploration and quest structure, and the combat system is satisfying but not always challenging, especially for truly experienced role-playing players. However, given the production's ambitions, and especially for a Digimon fan, the end result is more than adequate.

In the final computation, the production manages to deeply respect the aesthetic and narrative canons of the original animated series, bringing players to discover an unpublished story but in which it will be easy to recognize the most iconic characters created by the good Pendleton Word in the now distant 2010.

Either you prefer the new Dela Version or the "Purity" of the first episode, this new Superstardust is perfect to be played on the Vita screen.

For the moment, it is worth trying the ascent to Olympus.

With Gathering Storm, Civilization VI gets even richer and turns into a true mastodon of the 4X strategy. However, the "new" diplomacy and the World Congress pay the price of an outdated artificial intelligence that struggles to control all the aspects proposed by the Firaxis game.

The Octo Expansion is not just the addition to the single player campaign of Splatoon 2 that we could legitimately expect: in the 80 levels of this pay-as-you-go DLC there is a noticeable increase in the challenge rate, with a difficulty that is not always very balanced to appease the most "shrimp" fans but also to put a strain on the nerves of the less hardcore splitters.

The Umbral Star changes the usual gameplay of the classic musou style, with a pinch of strategy and fanservice. It's a purchase you can't miss if you love the "Fate" series.

Funny and well developed. Suffers from some imperfections such as lack of online multiplayer. Recommended for lovers of the genre.

This prologue will have completed its mission: to give the fantastic adventures of Life is Strange 2 the opportunity to take flight.

Six years after the release of the remaster of Onimusha: Warlords, the re-release of Samurai's Destiny presents itself to the public as an operation substantially in line with the characteristics of its predecessor. Yes, the package is overall more complete and refined, thanks to the inclusion of a few more gems, but the overall value of the proposal is fundamentally the same. It is therefore a good way to get closer to the saga in view of the new chapter, taking advantage of the enjoyability of a gaming recipe that, net of the wrinkles on the face of the production, is supported by mechanics that are still valid, provided you face Jubei's journey with the right spirit.

Sucker Punch bases an adventure full of ambitions that do not always manage to materialize or find their balance. If on the one hand the combat system offers a good number of techniques and requires a certain amount of timing, on the other the inaccurate camera inevitably undermines the reading of the action. In the same way, the use of a setting ennobled by a brilliant art design collides with a story with a swinging rhythm, which only on a few occasions has managed to make us jump.

An innovation in the RTS genre, A game of thrones: Genesis will disappoint fans of direct military and combat strategy, but someone who is searching something new should definitely add this game to his collection.

This low-budget title has been able to conquer our sympathies with a staggering and unexpected level of environmental interaction, which during the campaign has therefore encouraged us to examine carefully every single element crossed along the path towards the final battle.

An interesting Shooter, offering a solid amount of missions and a good replay value. Perfect for Pick-Up and Play, is spoiled by some issues regarding enemy IA and cover system.

Alien Vs Predator is a standard First Person Shooter, but thanks to the Predator's and Xenomorph's campaigns, it entertains old and new players. Even the multiplayer mode is funny and well structured, but the graphic engine is not that good.

Bastion hides a fun traditional gameplay under gorgeous and innovative visuals, that on the long run could come short in variety.

Recommended only for fans of the genre, AVSEQ is a discrete side-scrolling shooter.

Ultimately, All's Justice is a better sequel than One's Justice 2 in many respects... but it's still not the definitive My Hero Academia game. It seems that the Byking team's efforts focused primarily on respectfully adapting the source material, as the Story Mode, Team-Up Missions, and side episodes offer many hours of gameplay with Heroes and Villains. Secondly, it's clear that from a gameplay perspective, this is the best installment in the series: the fights are more understandable, the animations are smoother, and the impacts are more believable. Unfortunately, the game falls short in a fundamental aspect of the experience, namely the richness of content related to fan service: too few alternate outfits, too few stages, and a rather cumbersome customization system.

Pricey as usual, but filled with interesting content. If you're a Sims fan, you might consider this one.

Transcripted is a fun game that lies somewhere between a two-dimensional scrolling shooter and a puzzle game, with a pace that is not suited to the casual gamer.

Impact Winter is also able to surprise even the most avid survival enthusiast.

Mercury Hg is a good game, that does not change the formula inherited from its predecessors. A good level design, but not extraordinary, is the only obstacle that prevents it from excellence.

Mr Massagy is a dating simulator which uses the vibration of the controller in an unusual way. A weird but funny experience.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is a valuable re-release of games from the dawn of one of the most famous card games in the world. The package is rich in terms of gameplay, while the extra materials leave a little to be desired. Good instead in terms of the “quality of life” of the collection, with tricks and enhancements that allow you to avoid the most tedious parts of the original titles and focus on what really matters: the duels. Duels that are the beating heart of at least ten of the works present in the re-release, but which are banned in a couple of more experimental titles, whose presence alone provides freshness to the proposal. If you are a fan of the first hour of the anime, manga or the original card game, this appointment with the past could be for you.

The first thing you need to understand, when approaching Frostpunk, is that it is not an ordinary city builder, but a survival experience that uses management mechanics as a means to support, on a playful level, the elements of social engineering and nihilism that define it.

More than 300 new missions to play and some gameplay twist make Venice a good Add-On. Unfortunately, the lacks of a single player campaign mode is a great disappointment.

At their second try on WiiWare, the guys at Cosmonaut Games have succeeded in realizing a solid product. Dive: The Medes Islands Secret is an engaging exploration title, with some platform elements which help in providing something different. Maybe it will not be remembered, but yet it represents a good and rewarding experience.

The work of the duo of Contingent99 will not invent anything new, but proposes the archetypes of the genre of reference at rather high levels.

The peculiar mix of roleplaying and soccer is back. Despite loosing some of the appeal of the first chapters, it will still please the fans.

Although the result of this production process is a solid and fun experience, it is clear that not all the pieces of Hyper Scape's playful mosaic have yet found their ideal place.

Campaign mode is really boring, and new characters aren't very appealing. So, it remains another standard Tekken episode.

There are certainly deeper fishing games than this, with more fish, more reeds, more lakes, more boats, multiplayer and rankings, but at the same time there is none better than Catch & Release.

A good portable version of the Namco-Bandai Saga. Unfortunately, gameplay is strictly arcade and this might discourage many gamers.

Dead Rising 4 marks the end of the series for as we knew it. It is a new starting point for a saga that has decided to abandon any survival elements, transforming itself in a rowdy and light-weighted action game.

The narrative wants to be mature, but that can't come easy without a proper work on the characters, which feel somehow too flat to really emerge. Truly a shame, since the game loses its most powerful aspect, namely the dark atmosphere, and sometimes become just another survival with a management aspect.

Unable to keep up with the various Call of Duty and Battlefield, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is still a fun FPS with a good main campaign and an excellent multiplayer.

A light and pleasant fighting game, designed for newcomers of the genre who are approaching anime fighter for the first time.

Vibrant and colorful, Dragon Quest Treasures is a fun and entertaining action RPG, which we recommend to both newbies and experts of the genre. Due to the excessive backtracking and the expected cyclical routine of the gameplay, it may not be the classic title to devote entire days to, but on the other hand, the spin-off lends itself very well to fleeting sessions, perhaps aimed at interspersing much more demanding activities. The most successful elements of the package are the combat system, satisfying and intuitive, and the amount of content, which we are convinced will be able to give you many hours of entertainment in the always fascinating Dragon Quest universe.

With a greater focus on optimization, environmental interaction and singleplayer cohesion, Above and Beyond would surely have deserved a glittering medal of honor.

Activision and Infinity Ward have decided to play it safe, offering a solid and tested formula, without any relevant additions that could rejuvenate the structure of the game, the gunplay or the multiplayer.

Zombie panic is a good 3D shooter. Maybe a little bit boring in the long term, but quite entertaining for the first week, and sold for a good price.

HORSES is a provocative, incredibly bold, and unique game that leverages the harshness of its brutal vision to convey a social message that is as heartbreaking as it is painfully relevant. If you can look beyond the surface and overlook the overly simplistic gameplay, what you'll find is a daring title that will stimulate plenty of thought for those willing to grasp its symbolism and allegories.

All things considered, Park Beyond is an experience that we would like to recommend to you if you are a lover of management based on theme parks. If, like us, you have been lovers of RollerCoaster Tycoon and all the subsequent heirs of that winning formula, the new work by Limbic Entertainment and Bandai Namco could enrapture you for dozens and dozens of hours, while not consistently altering the most tried-and-true canons of the genre and net of an evident uncertainty on the technical and artistic side.

The Conduit is the first real alternative to Metroid Prime. Rich gameplay and a solid control scheme make High Voltage Software's title a fun and complete experience, also thanks to a good multiplayer section. Despite the previous declarations graphics are "only" good.

Echoes of Time is what Final Fantasy Crytal Chronicles saga should have been from the very beginning. Fast, funny and at the same time fairly deep. Possibly played with 4 friends, this game reprensent a must-buy for anyone who love RPGs.

Project X Zone is a product designed for super fans and lovers of Japanese genres.

The ATLUS team has packaged a remastered with all the trimmings, revolutionizing the old and limited original gameplay of the first spin-off dedicated to Raidou Kuzunoha XIV far beyond our expectations. On a purely graphic level, more could certainly have been done, especially to hide the countless sharp edges of the polygonal models, but at least the portability offered by Nintendo Switch manages to partially mask the age and PS2 origins of the product. Net of a slightly obsolete structure and progression, RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army represents an unmissable opportunity to familiarize yourself with one of the most iconic protagonists of the ATLUS house, who unfortunately did not obtain the fame he deserved in the West. If you love the esotericism that permeates the Megami Tensai saga, this time you have no excuses for not making it yours.

Samba de Amigo: Party Central does not require impeccable execution and perfect pitch, nor highly developed reflexes (more or less). The word "Party" in the name is a real declaration of intent, a message to revelers who can go wild with their friends, training alone or, even better, in online mode. Regardless of the length of post-launch support reserved for the title, SEGA has created a light experience, with some sagging in the recording phase of low notes and in terms of frame rate, but absolutely capable of giving hours of entertainment.

The PC porting of Deadlight does not disappoint the fans. Mixing platforming, action and survival in a wise manner, the title conquer all the favors of the public.

A really nice indie game, which will let you discover ancient legends with an adventure that certainly does not shine for longevity (collecting all the collectibles we arrive to a duration of about 15 hours) but that is able to offer the right dose of epic.

Uncharted Fight For Fortune is a card game ideal for beginners and experts. There are some problems with the AI and online multiplayer, but it is able to provide lots of fun.

Princess Case: The Royal Scoop is a nice HOG, well made and good to be played. If you enjoy this kind of games, don't hesitate and give to Microids a chance to get the throne which actually belongs to G5.

With Milestone going back to MotoGP, SBK Official Game decide to move on iOS platforms. This first race is interesting and has a solid amount of content.

The end result is a feast for the eyes and goes perfectly with an excellent soundtrack that has beautifully resisted the passage of time.

Get Tannen is the classic second episode of sagas made in Telltale. Compared to its predecessor, both the plot and the gameplay suffer a slight deterioration. Fortunately the situation is less serious than one might expect: this second episode is still funny enough to push you to complete it.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is an interesting first person melee combat simulation, quite similar to the Mount & Blade series. The game made by Torn Banner Studios is funny and beautiful but doesn't have its own identity.

Wastelanders represents a small revolution for the general enjoyment of Fallout 76, a return to the classic canons of the saga that opens up new and interesting perspectives on the future of the title. A year and a half after the game's release, Bethesda has finally followed up on the audience's demands by implementing a long series of substantial changes that significantly alter the game's narrative balance.

A product dedicated to the most ardent fans of the saga, or those who still want to be surprised with the huge technical potential of the tablet on the market.

Arrived like a bolt from the blue, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home can only embellish the Netflix Games portfolio, even if we would have expected something more from the sequel to a rare pearl like The Great War. It's not about creative gaps, because what Old Skull Games did with the supervision of Ubisoft is in all respects a deferential recovery of that stylistic figure, updated and integrated also with the deepening of new themes. It is the excessive debasement of the playful component that sometimes makes it difficult to fully immerse yourself in an otherwise visceral and well-constructed story. In short, this "homecoming" is bittersweet just like the story - or rather, the stories - it wants to tell us: pungent and imperfect.

The greatest omission is in fact to be found in the absence of naval battles, which have been replaced by clashes on the islands: a solution that, in any case, does not satisfy.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is not the game's best version: it retains some flaws from the original game and adds new conversion-issues. Still, it's a good example of the series' classic gameplay.

Rise & Shine reminds us of the visual style and of the gameplay of Metal Slug series. It’s hard, fulfilling and funny, but it suffers also from a lack of game contents.

The Virtuous Cycle is a brilliant gimmick that gives Mortal Shell new life, and not just because of a brand new shell and weapon to show off in both the base game and the new mode: the DLC devised by Cold Symmetry transforms it in the mix of Hades and Dark Souls that no one thought they wanted, but from which it is now almost impossible to break away.

Who would have thought that the world of League of Legends was suitable for a "cozy game"? Yet Bandle Tale a League of Legends Story works really well, at least for video game lovers who don't engage their minds too much. Its calming and relaxing power is undeniable, and lies in the combination of pastel graphics and light texture, perhaps too much so in reality. However, the gameplay loop based on improving one's resource gathering, crafting and decoration skills is solid and varied, with objects, tools and accessories to unlock and build. Everything is embellished with an essential artistic direction, which seems "tailor-made" on the chill genre. In short, when an online session of LoL has got you a little too pumped up, a spin on Bandle Tale is ideal to calm down a bit.
