There are certainly deeper fishing games than this, with more fish, more reeds, more lakes, more boats, multiplayer and rankings, but at the same time there is none better than Catch & Release.

Game is very much a fishing game, going for the realistic approach, not an arcade approach, and my first impression was very good.
graphics are nice, very pretty and crisp, my only tiny gripe is the texture of the cork and gaffa tape on the rod, it just doesnt pop.
Sound is pretty perfect for this game, I would like to hear the clicking of the line being pulled out when the fish struggle though, but the different interactions with the water are well represented.
The feedback from the rod is great, you can make some excellent long throws with a minimum of practice, the wheel is easy to use, putting on bait and removing fish is easy and effortless, and the forcefeedback used is just right, subtle but precise.
Interacting with the items and the boat is well made, it all feels very natural and obvious, rowing is a calming experience so getting from A to B feels exactly like you would expect, purchasing new gear from the shop is easy too, all in all everything is as you would hope for in a game like this.

If you like fishing in real life, and enjoy the calm and quiet of being out there on your own, then you will most likely enjoy this as well, it feels like an adult game in the sense that it doesnt throw alien attacks, krakens, or weird sound effects and big combo numbers all over the screen, it is fishing, pure and simple, and I can easily see myself loading it up for an hour here and there just for the calm experience, yep I like it :)

This is a very low key game. You can check off “missions” in your in game notebook, or just enjoy some fishing. Once you get the feel of casting, and the hang of landing the fish, there’s not much more to it than putting on your head set and spending a relaxing hour so on the virtual lake. Expand

I play on the PSVR version and it's one of my one of my favorite games to play. I could spend hours just sitting there listening to the music. Even if you don't enjoy fishing irl you'll still be able to enjoy this game for it's simplicity and addictiveness. The developers are continuing to support the game even after two years of it's release so it is definitely something everyone should check out. Expand
