Nex Machina is a super fast top down shooter with an awesome sci-fi look. You can play it alone or with a friend, but only in local, on-line is not allowed. Just like in the '90 you can find in the game all the magic of the coin-op era, but you will need sharp reflexes to beat the robots.

It will keep you glued to the chair for at least a dozen hours.

Endless Space 2 is a glorious (and graphically awesome) iteration of the tired 4X formula. There are some interesting innovations that can lead the genre a little further together with some quirks in the interface that can lead to frustration for the more advanced players.

Even if the third installment in the MXGP series still presents some flaws – which we think will be addressed in the near future – the outstanding improvements made by Milestone in comparison with previous titles can not go unnoticed. As of today, it certainly is the best game of its genre.

ARMS is the first big Nintendo exclusive for Switch and perfectly showcases the so called 'Nintendo difference'. It’s a fighting game with a twist, with punches that twist and curly characters (who, also, twist): it’s a fun, layered experience which will appeal to core gamers out there, but give it a try even if you’re usually not into the genre.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 isn’t the final version of this amazing fighting game, but the most complete one at the moment. The new characters are amazing and well balanced with the rest of the cast, and the overall gameplay is still over the top.

Dirt 4 it's exactly what many fans of the series were waiting: a solid rally game with tons of options and good graphics.

Mages of Mystralia is a good action adventure, with a very deep spell crafting system. Even if the story and the dialogues are not very inspired (Ed Greenwood you should have tried harder!) the game is fun to play. For both, puzzle solving and foes fight, you have to think and create the right spell, the only limit is your fantasy.

Wipeout is back, better than ever. This MUST be your next game if you love racing games and iconic PlayStation titles.

First time on console for one of the first Suda 51's games. Love it or hate it... it's up to you but this is one of the most peculiar adventure ever made.

Tekken 7 is what the Tekken FGC was waiting for. Awesome gameplay, new mechanics, great characters and a good amount of contents. Something is still off, but the overall experience is fun, deep and entertaining.

Everspace is a massive space shooter with roguelike mechanics and permadeath. It perfectly balances fighting, exploration and crafting, giving an extremely fun and satisfying experience. Every run is different from the previous one and you can discover something new every time, weird ways to die included.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew is the killer application that virtual reality needed. Funny, engaging, unique in its kind, Ubisoft's game is also enjoyable by those who are not fans of Star Trek.

An uninspired GTA clone afflicted by poor controls and by the very bad idea of creating an open world game on a tablet.

A pure old style platform ready to trigger your nostalgia and your laughs thanks to the unaltered 2D graphics straight from the late eighties and tons of quotes of old and modern cults. Nothing of totally new but more than a tribute. Rock solid mechanics, variety and a brilliant difficulty balance in level design make Unit4 a good platform for everyone and a hell of a challenge.

Short and a little too much flat gameplay wise, Old Man's Journey is a game which everyone who's looking for a simple puzzle adventure with a touching story should try. It will make you laugh and probably cry but in the end you'll enjoy every single second spent with this adorable old man, despite the obvious flaws.

We cannot say that Birthdays is one of the best God-game available. The ground modeling represents basically the whole gameplay. For the rest of the time you will stand still, waiting for the life to blossom.

An excellent point of convergence between an adventure, a puzzle game and a platformer, Rime is a visually stunning and memorable experience through a young boys's eyes. A story with some great twists which go beyond the appearances.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception is an interesting game for both visual novels and tactical RPG fans. The 3d graphics are quite old, but the overall experience is lovely. The PS Vita version will be perfect for your summer holidays.

Portal Knights is a great mix of ideas, a sandbox and role playing hybrid that gives his best during the multiplayer sessions. A brilliant Minecraft relative, with a simple role playing system that will ensure many hours of play to lovers of the sandbox genre.

Disgaea 5 Complete sets a return for the series on a Nintendo platform. This full edition gives players plenty of content as well as fun gameplay and some memorable characters.

Nonetheless, thanks to virtual reality, Farpoint is the first glimpse of what the FPS genre could be in the future. And for this reason, we recommend you to give this game a try.

Injustice 2 is a fun game. If you like the NetherRealm Studios’ signature style, with crappy animations and frequent patches, you’ll find in this game a huge load of exciting, over-the-top superhero action.

Clearly imitating the Dark Souls’ combat system and resources management, The Surge can give more action to the “masocore” crowd. The plot is not especially deep and enemies not so charming, but the high difficulty and a nice look can satisfy the fans that are searching for something to get angry for after the end of Miyazaki’s series.

Brilliant, passionate, challenging. The Sexy Brutale is a puzzle game reccommended to all fans of the genre, but also for those looking for a bizarre video game, characterized by a sophisticated art design.

An interesting take on the management/strategic genre with a lot of potential for streaming entertainment.

The third chapter in the Longest Journey series delivers amazing storytelling and art direction, unfortunately not supported by solid technical features.

Despite the influence of mythical figures such as System Shock and BioShock, Prey is a fresh and unique take on the first person adventure genre. Arkane Studios managed to design a game with an engaging plot and a great blend of several game mechanics which provide an incredibly deep experience whatever play style you prefer.

A roguelike dungeon-crawler RPG with some good gameplay mechanics, a boring story and frustrating difficulty level.

Touching, emotional, dramatic. Alone With You is an interactive drama that's engaging and supported by a script that touches very deep issues. Recommended for lovers of the genre.

The new title by Rain Games is a confirmation of their talent when dealing with platforms and puzzles. World to the West is the right game for the player who wants a funny brainy challenge.

Starblood Arena is a fun shooter that works better than expected in VR. Unfortunately, the chronic lack of content prevents the game to aspiring to better results.

What Remains of Edith Finch is an emotional journey through some of the most beautiful stories ever told in videogames. Some might call it walking simulator, others simply a masterpiece. We undoubtedly prefer the second one.

Obscure, blasphemous, creepy. Outlast 2 is the gamification of the most pure evil terror. You can't fight, only run and hide, hoping that the things outside don't hear your breath. A must-have for every horror addicted.

In Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 there are not one but three approaches to complete the stealth missions of sniper Jon North. But despite the nice gameplay design, the poor narrative and technical realization are still blocking the title from reaching excellence.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a fantastic puzzle game, a crossover between two of the best franchises of the genre, Tetris and Puyo Puyo. The Nintendo Switch version is the way to go, offering great versatility and allowing you to play on the go or in docked mode. Multiplayer is supported up to 4 players both local with one or more consoles linked via wireless or on the TV screen, and online. Single player mode is too weak though, but if you have some friends and two couple of Joy-Cons, you will have loads of fun.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not just a remake, but the best game in the series. The revamped Battle Mode completes an already convincing offer, but the real selling point here is the game portability: it looks amazing on the 6.2 inches screen of the Switch. After Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this is the second system seller by Nintendo.

Kona is an interesting action adventure that sports a good atmosphere and some survival elements: unfortunately it is also marred by uninspired combat, technical issues and unsatisfactory narrative.

Creepy and beautiful at the same time, Little Nightmares is a great adventure in a strange world. An atmospheric puzzle-platform with stealth and horror elements which is a great addition in a sub-genre dominated by Playdead's Limbo and Inside.

The lack of content, options and a solid frame-rate make this version of Cities Skylines just a minor product in comparison with the PC original title. Despite a good use of the joypad and user interface, the sluggish pace is basically a design mistake and it’s tough to stay entertained for long.

For all Warhammer 40,000 fans, Dawn of War is back with deep gameplay and awesome battles.

The Switch version of this nice old school JRPG runs at 30fps. Despise that, this is the best version of the game. You can play it at home or wherever you like, along with an interesting FREE DLC.

A heartfelt homage to Banjo-Kazooie, lacking the grace, technical mastery and playability that made the original a classic.

Ron Gilbert and his crew are back from the past with a new adventure. Thimbleweed Park is a pure back-in-the-days game, when the genre was one of the most popular, with same mechanics and same pros and cons. Perfect for veterans but maybe not for everybody.

Youtubers Life is a good managing game focused on a wired profession. All the mechanics are implemented with knowledge of the argument and the care for details is evident. It's a shame that, after a few hours, everything becomes a little bit boring. Only the most perseverant can aspire to become a real web star.

The next step in the MLB The show evolution brings in dozens of new features and a lot of customization possibilities. The big structure though is not balanced by a still-old graphics and animations, but it’s enough to make it the best Baseball simulation around.

Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey is the eighteenth chapter of the Atelier jRPG series, developed by Gust. The game features for the first time a vast open world, ten times larger than previous Atelier: Sophie, and even though there is a return to the controversial time limit, its implementation is definitely softer and it does not come as an issue. There are some minor problems on quest tracking and the graphics seems too old for the platform, but the game is eventually deep and satisfying for jRPG lovers. It is a good turn for the series but there are some lost chances here.

Another enjoyable but greatly perfectible new entry in the Toukiden series. If you liked Kiwami, this is the “more of the same” you're waiting for.

FlatOut rises from its ashes with a little-more-than-average new chapter full of craziness, hi-octane speed and some annoying flaws.

Rain World is the typical missed opportunity, a game with brilliant ideas ruined by some flawed mechanics which risk to hold back the wonder of an extraordinary world.

Persona 5 is an amazing experience. It mixes dark and mature stories with light-hearted settings and characters, some deep game mechanics and lots of stuff that helps the player to suit more the game. In few words: one of the best JRPGs this generation.
