Casual gamers will no doubt be driven off by its lack of special items and overall difficulty, but for those who can appreciate this type of game, it is a rich and beautiful experience that leaves one craving another sequel.

By the time you finish the game, you’ll have ingested almost a full novel’s worth of text. Button-mashing "Diablo" junkies may balk at this, but Planescape: Torment really isn’t for them in the first place.

Stuntman has problems but it's unique and engrossing and definitely worth your time.

Twilight Princess is a great game because it's full of so many activities, and just about every one of them not only finds a cool way to use the Wii control, they're just plain fun. This is a game full of creativity in its creature design, puzzle design, combat, and story.

Successful because it is simple. The game breaks down into a simple pattern that is perfect for the stop-and-start style of game play that is experienced when playing a handheld game.

Ubi Soft gives their mascot the star treatment and it pays off in a game that captures the real fun of platform hopping, environmental puzzle solving, and boss character combat. Rayman 3 is a treat.

Despite a few flaws, this is probably the best adventure game on the market today: a brilliantly plotted story with good characters, tough puzzles, and a 3D interface.

Not only does it add to the original product, but it seems to morph it into something slightly different and new, something definitely a bit more comedic and a bit larger than life.

Couple this awesome visual presentation with a solid game engine and then couple that with a painstakingly faithful Voyager plot and you’ve simply got one of the best Star Trek action/adventure games you’re ever going to come across.

It is proof that a strong game accompanied by good, but not great visuals, can be a more compelling product than something with lots of flash, but no substance.

If you have an N64 and you by some freak of causal virtue haven't been exposed to the grim, visceral cosmology that is Resident Evil, I urge you to check out Resident Evil 2. The N64 port holds up in stellar form, and it's packed with moments both atmospherically spooky and downright drop-the-controller scary.

A dangerously detailed and addictive experience for the power-mad behavioural researcher in all of us.

What the franchise loses in the transition from console to handheld, it makes up with intuitive control and the best multiplayer the DS has to offer. You'll be playing this one for a long time.

On both the Xbox and PlayStation 2, EA Sports has brought the Thunder with authority as far as this race fan is concerned. I've played both versions and the Xbox version is the better of the two.

Just an especially well polished game.

Don't pass up Robotron 64. Even if you are too young to remember the original, you're still not likely to find a N64 game with this kind of blessed simplicity ever again. This is one those "gotta beat my last score" kind of games that you'll be able to pull off the shelf and enjoy for the rest of your videogaming career.

At the conclusion of some of the levels there are awesome mini-games...Homerun in Wario is awesome--it tests your baseball skills as much as your platform gaming skills!

Dungeon Siege is simple, and it is this simplicity that makes it an amazingly fun fantasy action RPG.

A solid follow-up to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA), this game sticks to its predecessor's proven game play, adding updated graphics, a new story and a couple of extra Mario Bros., making for one of the most enjoyable DS titles to date.

One of the best-looking GBA games to come along in some time, and definitely a great addition to the legacy of both Mario and Donkey Kong.

If there is one fault with Soul Reaver it has to be some of the platform jumping required in the game. Not since the long ago days of my Atari 2600, have I been frustrated enough with a game to fling my controller across the room as I did while playing Soul Reaver.

A game for people who want a nice, long haul game, not a game that lasts a few bowls of chips. Such games risk repetitiveness and boredom, but Dark Cloud 2 stared these dragons down.

If you're a Resident Evil Veteran, this is the smartest and most polished of the series.

Fans of console RPGs will recognize the smooth gameplay and brilliant Final Fantasty-style graphics. It does not have the depth of character interation or development as something like "Fallout" or "Baldur's Gate," but it is a fun ride, taking you into strange policies, and showing intriguing conspiracies and ambitions.
