Teaming up with their young selves will soon send Mario and Luigi on a quest of lunatic proportions as players must control both the adult AND baby versions of the Mushroom Kingdom heroes. Players use the top screen to study the land, keep track of the pair of brothers not under their control or maximize combo moves in battle. With twice the Mario brothers and twice the laughs, this massive side-splitting adventure could only find a home on the dual screens of the Nintendo DS. [Nintendo] Expand

Not a guarantee that it's a game for everyone, but rather a big fat A+ for Alphadream when it comes to Advanced Game Design. This game is the cream of the portable gaming crop, and you'll be really hard-ressed not to be taken in by at least one of it's plentiful charms.
  2. An engaging narrative that actually inspires an urge to read all the text, fun and evolving combat, and a smooth coat of presentational polish make Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time a compelling package.
  3. 90
It's not a pure action game, it's not really an RPG...and it's not even an action-RPG. It's a successful blend of all these elements, proof that Nintendo does have some good ideas for the DS.
  4. But don't let the linearity fool you--Partners in Time is an excellent game no matter what platform it's running on.
  5. 85
Overall, I'd recommend this game for any fan of Mario RPG titles, anyone looking for a nice solid RPG for the DS, and of course, people who enjoy smiling, since this game will brighten your mood.
  6. Combines rock-solid and dynamic gameplay with an actually funny sense of humor. Returning gamers will find a bag full of changes, while those new to the series will have an easy time picking this up and running with it.
  7. 60
The threadbare story can barely support the game’s 20 hours of gameplay and the brothers don’t have enough moves to keep the puzzle-solving fresh.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game differs from other critically-acclaimed Mario games due to it's consistent and memorable story, exciting boss battle scenes, and it's super great, epic, final boss battle at the ending.

This is one of my favorite Mario game, I repeated playing this game 3 times already in the past. The graphics are okay, the addition of new power-ups are good. The locations and new places presented in this game are colorful and vibrant which adds credit to the graphics quality.

A notable feature this game delivers is it's addition of a character stat level. Just like Pokemon games, Partners in Time have included stat levels in the four main characters of the game such as defense, attack, cache, and others. This is a great installment because it provides users' enjoyment in upgrading the 4 character's strength, speed, and vitality in defeating bosses much like Pokemon games can provide.

The ending music of the battle with Elder Princess Shroob is super fantastic. I never heard that of a epic background music of all the games I played. Her transformation image, HP levels, and her stat upgrades are a blast. Considering her seemingly immortal evolved-form into a tentacle creature has an awesome design. Not to mentioned, the creators have added a feature in defeating here by destroying a certain part of her body just to remove that sort of immortality within here is also unique and great. Without destroying that portion of her transformed form, all damages are equal to 1 totally independent of Mario company's attacks,

One other thing that gives me excitement in playing this game is the scope of the destruction that the antagonists, which are the Shroob aliens, shows us throughout the game; this gives a sort of realism of the destruction, loss of life, and mayhem when an extraterrestrial invasion happens to a peaceful land. The endings are nice as well. The time travel concept here is a great addition to the plot.

He even has his own RPG. Thats impressive for this mature man, anyway , Mario & Luigi Partners in Time it's a different take and also a very fresh entry on the already huge franchise . The game is overall interesting until the end, but after that start feeling empty and boring. While the take, wasn't that much of a full RPG side I'm pleased with many of the ideas taken from triple A franchise's and the story is great for awhile , however , everything is forgettable after beating the game. However, i feel that it doesnt compare to paper mario and mario rpg (the only other mario rpg styled games i have played). still, this game makes great use of the dual screens. the game seems more focused on constant battling and ever changing patterns. you really only use the touchscreen once or twice. Very innovative and fun. I played the game almost constantly and it took me 21 hours to finish, which is a good deal of length. I felt this game could use more towns and more NPCs to interact with. By far the best rpg on the DS(lunar is pretty terrible.) Could have been better, thats why im giving this game an 8.5 (if meta would let me.) Expand
