Soma’s extreme focus on atmosphere and storytelling caused it to forget all about the fact that it’s an adventure game. Lack of puzzles and very simple gameplay surely prevent it from becoming one the best horror-adventures of the year, but nevertheless the atmosphere and story will definitely worth your time.

Helldivers 2 takes the single most important component of the previous game and expands it into a full-fledged third person shooter, full of fast paced combat and massive explosions. It's a rewarding experience especially if played as a group, and can keep you and your buddies entertained for months.

Despite a few flaws, Watch Dogs 2 delivers where the original game failed. The game has improved on every aspect and provides a vibrant city with lots of hacking fun. The story is dull without any special moments but the immersive open world with lots of quests will keep you entertained.

Two Point Campus is a decent follow up to the Hospital version, and it could have been a great hit if not for some minor gameplay shortcomings.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the most complete entry in the trilogy that manages to gather all the great elements from the two previous titles and take them to the next level. Katamari Damacy REROLL is a unique game with a simple but super entertaining concept that won't disappoint especially if you are a fan of the old game.

There are tons of improvements comparing to the previous version and while the ending of the episode could’ve been better, there is still much to enjoy from.

SIFU puts you in the shoes of a martial artist, and I mean it literally, as you will have to have patience and practice a lot to master your skills and time every single one of your moves precisely to be able to beat your enemies. It’s not an easy game and probably not too appealing for everybody, but it certainly rewards patience and practice, and once you finally get into its core, you will have a hell of a good time.

CrossCode is a beautiful 2D action RPG that definitely worth your while, especially if you are a fan of the genre.

After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Trails of Cold Steel IV is a solid JRPG that entertains, throwing a great cast of characters with strong story arcs your way, and worth every second of your time.

While Namco Bandai has not released a real 8th generation title in the Tales series yet, the new ported version of Tales of Vesperia feels like a solid JRPG that can easily be compared with current 8th generation titles. If you are a fan of JRPGs and for some reason had no chance to grab it back in 2008, now is the time for you to experience one of the best entries in the Tales series and one of the best JRPGs ever.

Anno 1800 manages to find its place back between the heavyweights of the genre by getting back to its roots and expanding on the successful formula that made the previous games great. The gameplay is deep, complex, and at the same time simple enough for the newcomers to jump in, and its definitely one of the best entries in the Anno series, if not the best.

The 5th installment in Far Cry franchise is yet another effort by Ubisoft to build on a successful formula, And while some elements such as story and AI are not as good as we’d expected, the core mechanics of THE gameplay are so great that it’s just impossible not to love it. Far Cry 5 tastes as good as its big brother, Far Cry 3. Maybe even tastier.

After a long wait, Frostpunk 2 has finally made its way to consoles, and it proves to be well worth it. While the strategy genre has traditionally drawn a smaller audience on consoles, Frostpunk 2 delivers an engrossing survival experience that is more than capable of keeping players engaged for countless hours.

As the industry shifts more and more towards mediocre service-based AAA games, the value of traditional AA games is becoming more and more obvious, and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a prime example of that. It’s not without flaws, but the bold decision making in world design and innovative storytelling separates it from the pack and makes it the best game by Don’t Nod to date.

Whether you are a fan of the Yakuza series or you are really into Samurais, Like a Dragon: Ishin! won't disappoint you. It might not be a perfect remake and some gameplay mechanisms, especially the gunplay could have been better, but it offers enough action to satisfy anyone obsessed with the far east.

Atelier Ryza 2 doesn't have the perfect rhythm, but is almost exactly what you'd expect from a game in Atelier series, and a JRPG in general. Even with all its flaws, Stellar Blade is still an entertaining game. As Shift Up’s first major release, it delivers enough to be considered a success and paves the way for potentially bigger and better games in the future.

If you are looking for a whole new experience from what you already had in this generation, look no more, A Plague Tale: Innocence is what you want. A Plague Tale is not open world, does not offer multiplayer experience, and there is no big budget behind it. Instead it offers a linear stealth puzzle gameplay with a deep story and solid narrative, and that's exactly what we need every once in while. To seat behind our gaming device, disconnect from the whole world and just enjoy a great video game like the good old times.

SteamWorld Quest offers endless fun, and while its 15 hours gameplay is shorter than most RPGs, it still manages to entertain using a solid combat system and the familiar atmosphere the series in know for, and more importantly once again proves that the Sweden based Image & Form is one the best developers around.

Even after fifteen years, Katamari Damacy Reroll is still a very fun game to play, both for old fans and newcomers.

Void Bastards is not very special, and is not the first title that mixes FPS with Roguelike, but nevertheless the final package is fun and different from most titles, and you'll probably spend hours after hours enjoying it.

Although the original Hellblade was a unique addition to the action adventure genre at its time, it doesn’t even come close to be comparable to Hellblade 2, as Ninja Theory’s latest release is also their best yet. Hellblade 2 improved drastically over its predecessor while offering deep and engaging gameplay from start to finish and arguably the best visuals and sound design we’ve ever seen in a video game to date, making it the best Microsoft exclusive of the last decade.

Ember Lab's very first project is a beautiful adventure set in an even more beautiful universe, and while it's borrowing a lot of its core components from different games of the genre, it still feels fresh and stands on its own. The future surely seems bright both for the franchise and its developer.

Call of Duty is back to its former glory with this Modern Warfare reboot, and is easily the best military shooter out there. The single-player campaign is pure gold, although short as always, and the multi-player that the franchise is know for is back to give you an almost complete package. Future looks very bright for the series.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is a battle against time. Story is surely great, and we love all the characters, and a lot of nostalgia is there for the die hard fans of the series, but on the other side, the visuals and gameplay mechanics are dated and can't be compared with even mediocre 8th gen titles. In the end, FFVIIIR is nothing more than a game built to take full advantage of the hype set by FFVIIR.

Although Gears Tactics is heavily inspired by XCOM and its mechanisms, it's still a great Tactical Turn Based Strategy that also remains loyal to the Gears of War universe.

But the fact that 2K is trying to force the players to spend money in the game is so annoying that could seriously put the future of this great title in danger.

Valhalla once again proves that ubisoft's chosen path for Assassin's Creed may not be appealing to the old fans of the series, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, as the series have developed into a solid RPG franchise. Still, Valhalla shows that the series is still far from completion, as there are several obvious shortcomings in combat gameplay and AI, along with some visual problems.

A more serious and engaging story combined with the always entertaining gameplay we see in Ys series, made Ys IX: Monstrum Nox one of the best games in the series and one of the best JRPGs of the year.

Sonic X Shadow Generations not only offers an improved version of one of the best Sonic games ever but also bundles it with an all-new Shadow Generations campaign, making this package the ultimate Sonic experience and a must-have for any Sonic fan.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has its flaws, but it's probably one of the best games in the Marvel universe beside Insomniac's Spider-Man in recent years.

Almost two decades after its original release, Ninja Gaiden 2 returns in Black form. While the core gameplay loop of cinematic action remains as compelling as ever, the focus here is clearly on updated visuals. The $50 price tag, however, feels a bit steep for what is essentially a visual refresh of a nearly 20-year-old game. Whether or not it's worth the price will likely depend on your level of nostalgia for the series. Hardcore Ninja Gaiden fans may find it hard to resist, but more casual players might want to consider waiting for a sale.

Thanks to Nintendo's new technology in Switch, we have the chance to play New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe anywhere we like. It also supports up to 4 players, so just imagine how fun it would be to play Mario on a camping trip with your friends while you share your childhood Mario memories with each other.

Neon Abyss may not be a revolutionary title, but it offers tons of fast-paced fun and despite its minor technical issues, it's a great experience that shouldn't be missed.

Obsidian's signature is evident throughout Avowed, from its richly crafted setting to its deep role-playing mechanics and meaningful quests. That said, Avowed remains an AA title, lacking the extra budget needed to realize its potential fully and if you're expecting vast open worlds, ambitious design, or cutting-edge visuals, you may find yourself disappointed.

Rime heavily relies on lots of different elements from other successful action titles and fails to add any notable innovation to those elements. Nevertheless, if you are looking for an artistic and relaxing experience with great soundtracks, Rime would be a very good option.

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is an appealing platformer, offering beautiful art design, challenging puzzles and great boss fights, and It is safe to say that Trine 4 takes the series back its roots.

Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy proves that some games should remain as they once was. Vicarious Visions did everything in their power to deliver a pleasant Crash Bandicoot remaster, and while they did a pretty good job in terms of visuals, N Sane trilogy’s gameplay and controls are poor and outdated.

Mutant Year Zero is built especially for Turn-Based fans, and if you are one, you should play it.

Bramble: The Mountain King is a superb story driven adventure with solid gameplay and astonishing atmosphere that switches its tempo continually, emphasizing on the fact that even through the darkest of times, there is still hope for light at the end, although it may come with a price.
